Superb this is what big muffler companies try to replicate, you should design a full system with your stamp on it. Amazing video this is my go to channel for all my VQ needs!!
For my 2013 G37 sedan a shop in the Dallas area told me it would cost $950, even though I have all of the parts! He asked, "so what do you want to do?" I said I want you to lower my car as quickly as humanly possible! Lol ✌Deuces
@@SpeedCultureStudios you think this set up works for a 03 g35x sedan? Its for my little brother. He wanted a infiniti after seeing how the Q50S. Especially the 3.7 type haha
Did the same thing on my 2001 Maxima and it turned out awesome. Sounded just the way I wanted it to sound and the price was a lot less than Stillen or others at the time.
Love your channel. Direct, smart, down to earth, advise. I am going to install this exact exhaust on my '13 G37 Sport Convertible tomorrow!! Haven't seen anyone install on a 'vert yet. I decided to leave the stock cats in place for now. Will see how it sounds and decide if I will go with test pipes. I will try to post some pics and sound clips. Thanks for the great write up and detailed parts list and sound clips! REALLY helped me make my decision.
Bro trust me you have done the job not that’s best sound I have ever heard hope I’m gona find good welder in gta area gona get same setup keeping all your instructions in mind thanks for giving your effort to something people will love and always appreciate you who ever will get this setup and bro I’m totally new to all this kind work what the way you have explained I think anyone can get if they got people who can put all these parts in place bro I madly love 2.25 set up but you have explained 2.50 so please can you tell us who ever out there wants to get 2.25 or if you have already made any video on 2.25 setup please let me know I have people who can work but need to tell them how you made 2.25 set up thanks in advance
I am not sure if this is just a mistake in the video, but you said the length of the FlowFx resonator is 18-20 inches, but the Amazon link in your description to the FlowFx Resonator is showing a 14in length one. I just want to make sure the amazon listing didnt change!
F0RS8KEN you can always add resonators but you’d be pissed probably if you did it all then wanted to cut them off haha. Being the first 3.0t guy though, make sure you get under there and take some measurements to be sure the borla will fit
@@SpeedCultureStudios I ordered everything but the resonators. Everything should arrive this week. The tips came in today. I have to say the tips are great quality. I'm very surprised for the price.
I the love vids man! Ive got my Q50 3.7 that i'm currently building myself. I live in NY and I wanted to know if this setup is able to pass inspection without any issues. If I was to do this setup and left my Factory Flow Cats or use HFC, will I get any check engine lights or fail the Smog test?. I wanted to do my exhaust before tuning. Z1 Intake Tubes + AeF Filters coming soon!
It should. You’d just have to make sure the muffler clears the drive shaft obviously, but that’s the beauty of a custom setup. The shop can install it so it clears or recommend a smaller muffler that might fit better if necessary.
the main drive shaft is in the same location as the RWD, the only thing different is the transfer case and that is just in front of the merge portion of the Y pipe. So yes, it should work. I'm planning a similar set up thanks to the information from this video and I have an AWD.
Top Speed makes a nice affordable resonated option. That’s what I’m going back to. Manzo is a “cheap” but nice quality non-resonated test pipe that I’m currently running. No complaints from me other than there is just a touch of drone at 2k rpm. No big deal but I have resonated pipes on my bench already.
finally i found what im lookin for. i have been dealing with that raspiness for month now and i now that will be gone. so much rasp after test pipes with no muffler i cant believe it so i hope that'll be something of the past
Yes I am sure you can. You’ll just want to confirm clearance for the mid-muffler. The borla Pro xs is a large muffler so you’d want to make sure it would fit in the space available. I think it will, but there are other options available. The rest of it will give you no problems at all.
Speed Culture Studios Appreciate it man! Your videos are really knowledgeable and eye opening👍🏻 you really proved that you don't need to buy branded stuff to get good results.
Erik Soghoyan Thanks man! Yeah my goals is to find value for people. Share some knowledge and experience and then try to back it up with real world results. A lot of stuff in the aftermarket world is hype. That’s how they sell products. Higher prices do not always mean better quality nor do they mean better results.
Man thanks for this video! I've been researching exhaust systems for the last week and a half and for the money was not liking what I was seeing. I have a 15 Q50 3.7 and really like what you've put together. My intentions are to replicate your system with the exception of HFC's in place of test pipes.
@@johnpeterbarrotti-andrade2043 high flow cats, meaning catalytic converters, these will allow your engine to flow more air out and breathe better, will also give you some added sound.
@@johnpeterbarrotti-andrade2043 yes they allow more air to flow out of your exhaust and I believe they will also make the exhaust sound a bit louder/different.
Bawsaq thanks! These cars won’t make a ton of power, but it won’t take much money to max them out. Everyone seems to say it’s a waste to try and mod the VQ but that’s just false! You can get 50 hp to the wheels with less than $2000 which includes the tune (the most expensive part).
Speed Culture Studios so true brotha. i have a topspeed y back & fi RTP’s on my G37 as of right now and i’m planning to do exactly what you did, take the resonators off and place a mid muffler leading into the flex y pipe! hopefully it’ll make the sound more refined and gain some power! love the content though, keep it up!!
Trying to replicate your setup now on my 2010 g37x sedan, Ordered the borla mid muffler and i couldnt get my hands on the flowmasters so instead i had to settle for the vibrant resonators (1793) which is 18" with a 4" diameter.... I am really hoping they will fit into the system, Just looking at my current exhaust i dont see how someone could fit such a big resonator in the same position that you have. Guess i am going to find out when i bring all the components to the exhaust shop! Hopefully not a waste of time/money
Hi Jake! I’m actually making a follow up video right now about this! Having the awd system does make it a bit tight but it has been fit. The other option that I’m explaining in this new video is to actually set the system up in reverse. So where I have the borla, you can actually place the vibrant (good choice too by the way) resonators there side by side which gives you more flexibility, then install the borla sideways below the trunk area where your factory muffler was. Works out great and sounds just as nice!
Gonna try replicate this also on the same exact car (2010 G37x sedan) and just worried on fitment. Any tips and variations from the original setup? The Borla mid mufflers are out of stock, do you think a magnaflow resonated mufflers work too? Also, what would you tell the exhaust shop specifically on how to make this setup?
@@ALoHA2132 Check out my most recent exhaust video--SCS Custom Catback Made Easy. It has an even more detailed explanation with alternatives. Just tell the shop where each piece should be located and they'll do it. Its not hard and if they are a decent shop, they'll know. Magnaflow is fine, but its smaller than the borla so its a slightly more aggressive tone--maybe a little rasp.
@@ALoHA2132 Fitment is no issue there is actually plenty of space to play around with once you get under there. Just show the exhaust shop a picture of the setup from this video and supply them the parts they should be able to slap it together in a couple hours. I went with the borla muffler so I’m not sure about magnaflow specs but i don’t see why it wouldn’t work, it may have a different tone but will do the same job. Also i would throw a flex pipe somewhere in the system i didn’t and now i am dealing with some funky rattles other than that don’t keep procrastinating like i did and just send it you wont regret it lmao.
@@slovwmedia Aight BET lmao. I just wanted to make sure each part fit before purchasing all the parts. You mind sending me a picture of your setup that way I know exactly how it should look since we both got the same cars anyway. Or if I could ask you some questions through dm or something? Too excited to get this installed!
I want to do this to my Q50 very soon. So before I order everything, I just want to make sure this is what I need. 2x FX Resonators, 1x Borla Muffler, 2x Flex Pipes. Is that it? Thanks! I'm in CA so I cant get the test pipes
Hard to say if it sounds similar-this is a full catback system with test pipes. Totally different setup. But the sport exhaust sounds pretty good from what I’ve heard.
You can keep the factory cats but it will be pretty quiet with the full setup. You could just do an x pipe with the flowfx resonators in the back. That will sound nice. No tune necessary
I have a 2014 3.7L Q50 Premium - so if I buy specifically those 3 things (the borla, resonators, and stainless tips) without the test pipes, will I need to get my car tuned or is that all I need for my car to sound really nice like that?
It will still sound really nice. A few people have done that. You won’t need a tune necessarily either. A tune will just help you take advantage of the catback system, but the cats are the real bottleneck so if you keep them, a tune isn’t all that necessary.
Speed Culture Studios If I wanted to have it tuned using these three things to my advantage, how do I go about saying it? Like how much tune or what numbers do I say to have it fit the custom exhaust system you have?
So is this catback setup different then the one you have posted on Instagram? I noticed the resonators are a lot closer to the Borla but here they are further away, any particular reason?
@@SpeedCultureStudios can you give me a link to the video, I couldn't find it. I just got a 2018 Q50RS and I want to do the exhaust ASAP. This car is too damn quiet 🤣
So I’ve decided to go ahead with stock headers, hfc’s, flowmonster resonators, magnaflow muffler, and 2.5” piping throughout. I got a local muffler shop to quote me $400 for labor for installing everything (including HFC’s and piping provided by them). Any tips on what I should look for after to make sure it’s a quality job done?
@@SpeedCultureStudios thanks! what material should they be using for pipes, I think they’re gonna do crush bending but it’s my daily driver I’m not extremely concerned for mandrel I just want some power and sound gains.
I’ve been watching these videos all night because I’m about to get my car modded. I have a 2015 Q50 Sport 3.7 & I’m loving this system you have. The exhaust flanges linked in the description don’t fit my car type, what other ones would be necessary?
Exhaust flanges are universal. The flanges will fit to factory cats or test pipes. Those are the flanges I have. I wouldn’t have linked them if they don’t work.
Not sure if you already answered, or have even been asked this, but could this setup be installed on the 3.5l AWD hybrid model? Only asking because I intend on a Q50 being my next car, but I live in the UK, and this is, as far as I can tell, the only 3l+ model available in the UK.
I know this video is old, but a local shop near me told me the flowmaster is better than the borla muffler. He also said it’s just a knock off of the flowmaster muffler. Is that true? Is the flowmaster better? I don’t know who to listen to now lol🤷🏾♂️.
Lol Borla is not a knock off haha Borla is one of the biggest brands in aftermarket exhausts. That dude is an idiot. Flowmaster does not have a comparable muffler. Magnaflow does but it’s slightly smaller and does not do as well with the rasp. There is a reason I chose Borla and nothing else.
@@SpeedCultureStudios thanks. I’m in central Texas(Fort Hood) so yeah idk probably not the best exhaust shops near an army post. He also stated they were using some sorts coated aluminum exhaust. If they’re not using stainless steel pipes should I not even bother?
Honestly I've been having some sort of hesitation & studdering issue while accelerating but I went ahead and got the exhaust put on anyway. I feel like I can bring more life to the exhaust if I changed my catalytic converters as they are nice and rusted and quite toasted like the rest of the exhaust that was on it, But I'm in serious doubt because I have no engine light on whatsoever. Do you have hi flow cats as well??
I’m interested in how this setup would sound without test pipes on my g37. I want test pipes but there aren’t any tuners in my area. At least not to my knowledge, lol.
Really enjoy your videos....I have a 2015 Q50S....If I want to replicate this exact system, buying all the components you listed, what or how do I have the Welder at the shop put it together? What plan do I give him? Im a noob to these things-thank you for your help.
The system was designed with test pipes in mind because rasp is such an issue, but test pipes are definitely not required. Retain cats to stay street legal
Do I have to purchase the flex pipes also? What if I did Test pipes ->ISR Y pipe->Mid muffler-> then muffler delete ? Would it be raspy? And would it give the same performance gains?
You could try a mid-muffler with a y pipe, but I don’t think there will be room. I don’t think a single muffler would be enough to take out all the rasp, but you can always add resonators later.
Peter Riggs..Got my cat back exhaust in last week..sounds great. Also new BMS cold air intakes. Not planning to race..but like power feeling..Have 2019 Q50 3.0t.300 HP..what would you recommend next..? Dyno
That’s such a nice setup! So in order to replicate ur setup, all I have to do is just get the muffler, resonator, and exhaust tips in the description and I’m set? Or do I need anything else to go with it.
Hey just seen this video and love the set up I’m thinking about getting it for my 2018 3.0t , you think the setup will mess with me installing my downpipes at too ?
Would it sound good if I just installed the flow fx and resonated test pipes, Ik it would be louder without the borla, but would it make a huge difference in rasp or is it not too bad?
Not on this setup no. At these power levels, mandrel bends don’t do anything. These bends are so wide that there is no restriction in the system at all.
Just ordered the exact setup.Cant wait to install it!! I mistakenly ordered a 3 inches in/out resonators instead of 2.5 inches. Would that make a difference?
Did the muffler shop give you any talk about fitment issues for the borla mid muffler ? I dropped my car off this morning and the guy was trying to talk me out of it. He talked about scraping it on speed bumps. I went based off of your reviews and told him it should work just fine. He definitely has me nervous. But thanks to your one year review it is a solid set up.
Im rear wheel drive. He’s an older man and the shop owner so it may just be he’s old school or never seen this done before lol but yeah it’s gonna cost me around 300 or closer to 400 he said. Perks of living in California 👎 haha
Speed Culture Studios Wow.. 600 is up there ha. Well he accepted the work and his shop has a 4 start rating. It will be done at 4pm I can’t wait !!! Been a long time coming 🙏🏼 I’ll keep you posted!
I was debating buying a ark grip cat back but I came across your video , I think I saw you comment saying that it can be quiet exhaust system if you don’t have test pipes. I may be mistaken but I’m planning on installing this but wanna see if it will be quiet without the test pipes 😅 if so, what little tweaks would you make to make it sound a little louder/aggressive?
I had no check engine light because I was tuned at install. You can try the little steel wool trick. Stick a little steel wool in the bong extensions. Ultimately you will want to get a tune.
All of this sounds good! Will you do a video with the v8. I have 06 M45 and what will you do to get the best exhaust performance? No offense for all you v6 owners!
I’m not sure how I’d do a video with the v8, but the beauty of the V8 is that it’s hard to make one sound bad. A 2.5” catback is still sufficient for a V8 unless making significantly more power than stock. X pipe to smooth out the tone and straight pipes if you want. Or a couple flowFX resonators to tone it down slightly. That’s all I’d do.
You don’t need flex pipe but your factory y pipe comes with flex pipe to reduce vibration. Some like to put flex in their custom setup for the same reason. It has nothing to do with test pipes.
Am very interested in getting this for my 17 3.0t Q50s and was wondering if lowered down pipes would be fine with this setup? Don’t know much (if at all) about the exhaust system. Also heard about the turbos being able to over spool and blow if there isnt any resistance (cats and stuff) Do you think this is an issue with this setup?
The issue isn’t with the catback system, the issue is with removing the cats, but so many people do it without issue. I’d love to hear this setup in a 3.0t, but you will want to get under the car and be sure there is enough room for the borla to fit. I’m not sure how far back the downpipes go in those cars
Speed Culture Studios Thanks, also what was the effect on mpg after installing the exhaust? Did you notice any decrease in mpg or was it better? Or did it make almost any difference, and with hp gains?
Is the tubing used in your exhaust system aluminized steel, or stainless steel? I contacted a local shop and they can do it for $200, but using aluminized steel. The test pipes are out of stock. Bummer
i know this video is older but by any chance do you still have the model number for the borla as the link has obviously expired after all these years lol, thanks bro
Check out the links in this one: th-cam.com/video/VFG8e6eVTGU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xjPrKCHkd_6NJ2OJ I’d go with the magnaflow alternative. Borla has had quality issues with this particular unit
Great Video, will be doing this to my Q50 soon🔥 question tho,, should I get flex pipe if I’m getting test pipes or not? Cuz I know with test pipes flex pipes aren’t able to handle the heat but your the expert here so rather ask you for advice 🤘🏻
Do not get test pipes with flex--they fail because of the heat, correct. The flex as part of the mid-pipe is a bit further down stream and not in direct contact with such high heat. They help reduce vibration, but are not required, per se.
Do you recommend on doing a tune right after this? Or will it run just fine until I set aside money for a tune? Obviously I won't get the benefits from all of this until that's done. Thanks for the vid!
Good stuff! You know I have been waiting on this video. Only questions I have: is there test pipes you would recommend over the ones you have? Only asking because your link is out of stock and I'm not sure if maybe one offers a slightly better performance increase over another? Also, you did recommend me to go with a 2.25" setup if torque is my goal...You mind explaining why? Not questioning, just new and learning and haven't found any real reasoning as to why a smaller setup would produce more torque (help my ignorance). For future content, some ideas I know I would like to know about, I'm sure others would love to hear and gives you quite a few videos to continue on with (my way of helping out for everything you do for the community.) -Cam shaft upgrades? Just something I was reading about, not even sure if there is an option for the Q50 -lightweight flywheel-I saw you responded to someone else that asked about this, but still maybe an informative video for the majority. -Billet flex plate-How it works, benefits, etc -Have you looked into the Traction Concepts LSD? I am SUPER curious about this one as it looks to be an excellent upgrade to acceleration which is all I am REALLY looking for with all the stop and go traffic in Charleston, SC. I'm sure I have missed some other cool upgrades you haven't talked about, but hopefully some of these are some good video ideas and looking forward to more content. BTW-Man, I know you don't recommend CAI, but I got a decent deal on the Takeda (I'm sure the Z1 intake and drop ins are just as good, but when I get it tuned and the exhaust build I can let you know the numbers and at least it's more data to compare if nothing else, lol) and with just that and the tires upgraded....Holy hell I love it so much more!
There’s a lot to unpack there man lol! If you got a good deal on a cai go for it! They don’t hurt-I just say as a rule of thumb for the money they aren’t worth it. But I’m always open to a deal! Cams could be a good idea. I have a friend considering them now for his G but was quoted a ton of labor for install so isn’t sure he is going to do it. I have looked into LSD-did a video on it awhile back! Might do it down the road. It would be a nice upgrade. I’ve heard some horror stories about the pulley but at the very least my tuner said they have not seen any gains from them. So for $150, the trouble to do the swap, battery trouble and the risk to the engine, I don’t think I’ll do it. These are all worth-while topics I could talk about. Thanks for the ideas!
And yes-2.25” Exhaust will get you better torque numbers with these cars. Check out this video-I give some more details and explanation in it. th-cam.com/video/EAftIVIgVQU/w-d-xo.html In general, narrower exhaust will get you better torque numbers. Larger exhaust will generally get you slightly better hp numbers at top end but you’ll lose low end torque. It’s why you lose some torque with a muffler delete or an axleback. I pulled a bunch of data from videos online and found a few excellent published dyno tests with various exhaust setups to prove my point. Then I experienced it myself. I made 332.8hp and 284lbs torque with my 2.25” setup. I went to a 2.5” Exhaust and made 333.4 and 276lbs torque. Slight gain in hp and lost torque. The thing that really sucks is that my loss in torque was at 2500 rpm-right when I need it most! So yes, for these cars with the typical bolt ons, I would go with a 2.25” exhaust. Which test pipes are out of stock? Manzo? Check out top speed resonated test pipes. They are good as well.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Oh, I didn't realize the 284 was with the 2.25"! I saw those numbers and was, like, I don't know if I wanna change anything, those are pretty damn good! So, very good to know and I will absolutely check the other video. Yeah, the Manzo were last time I checked the link, but was looking at the topspeed from other comments I have seen on other videos, so will do. For sure keep us updated if you find anything about the cams. As far as the ideas, happy to help man! I want to keep getting good content and you to hit your 3k subscriber goal so it's a win/win.
No drone at cruising speed. Minor drone if I leave it in automatic going like 45. Still not bad or obnoxious. But I am always in manual mode so I’m not an idiot and don’t put it in 6th gear going 45. So there is no drone for me.

Excellent and thanks from Melbourne, this video will save me $$$$ bar shipping cost . Same principle for an 08 Skyline V36 350 gt sedan ? Also thoughts on Berk High Flow Cars please ? Thanks for the videos, much appreciated.
Sorry 1 more question on this and just looking at the Borla muffler now which comes in 2.25 and 2.5 inlet and outlets, You said if you had your time again you'd drop down to 2.25 all the way through for higher tourqe and better low down response, correct ? Matching with Berk HFC (Not sure what there diameter is but I'll check) . V36 G35 (Skyline over here in Australia). Thanks once again. Well after all that writing this question I just found the answer from your comments to another subscriber 2.25 looks the go 😂.
Pommie Gooner Yeah you wont lose any power with the 2.25, but might see a couple more lbs of torque. For test pipes or HFCs, fast intentions is the only company that I have seen make 2.25” diameter. I wish other companies did because I would go that route as well.
Quick question, hows this set up holding up for you thus far? I just installed the test pipes last weekend and I'm getting the custom work done this Saturday. Based on your most recent video, you stated to try and avoid test pipes with flex pipe, which is what you did here. Should I not include the flex pipe anymore? I have the 3.7L btw.
My flex pipe is not on the test pipe. The flex pipe I have is part of the catback. I say don’t get test pipes with flex because it’s not easily repairable and test pipes are very difficult to change out.
I mis-typed that I didn't mean with the test pipe as in on the test pipe itself, I meant along with it hooked up down the exhaust after the flange. All in all I think we're say the same thing and I understand what you ment now. Thanks!
dannyrz3 yeah. Flex pipe sucks no matter what but it is especially bad when in the test pipes. Unfortunately the vibration gets bad if you don’t have it in the midpipe.
sounds amazing!! is there any Hflow mufflers though? The Q50 suffers from low torque and an Xflow muffler is great for peak HP, would it be better to have an Hflow muffler instead?
I’m not sure what you’re referring to or what you consider a high flow muffler. The borla or the magnaflow suggested are resonated x pipes essentially so they are about as high flow as you can get. There is also a fine balance between performance and sound. If you went with an x pipe or straight pipes, you’ll get absolutely free flow but it’ll sound like crap. And your torque numbers won’t change all that much-we’ve actually found that they are reduced with more open exhaust.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Thanks for replying to my comment! I definitely don't go free flow, but was wondering if an x pipe setup was more advantageous from a torque perspective than an H pipe. I mentioned mufflers because from what I saw the Borla muffler you had installed was where the two exhaust pipes converged and had an x pattern in the chamber. And if that's not the case please correct me. I'm still new to the car scene and just saw a donut media video comparing the two setups today. I don't want to compromise on sound quality at all! I was just curious if there was a more torque focused variant that could be made from your exhaust system.
@@no-fm6ou The borla is essentially a resonated x pipe. In other words, it’s an x pipe with packing material around it so it reduces the harsh frequencies that an engine produces-especially a raspy engine like the VQ37. Every platform reacts different to exhaust setups, scavenging, back pressure etc. The VQ is touchy and also limited in what we can pull out of it. You can check out my other exhaust videos for more detail, but there is a fine balance. You can make more top end hp with an open free flowing system but at a certain point you start sacrificing torque on this platform. I have put down some of the best torque numbers that I have seen with this setup compared to cars with similar mods.
Markie.bang on Instagram has straight pipe to motordyne resonataor or muffler i guess and then straight pipe to the rear tips. I think it sounds amazing. Yours does sound pretty clean, would like it to have a higher pitch in the high rpms...
Not a fan of how his sounds honestly. Too tinny at certain rpm. Camera doesn’t do it justice. The higher rpm range is so good on this car. It gets very clean and smooth, especially after 4000 rpm it’s just butter.
I'm inquiring about this set up I have a 2017 q60 3.0t and want a low rumble with little to no rasp. I like the borla cross pipe and I'm wondering how this really sounds on the twin turbo. I'm an old mustang guy and not really wanting a Japanese sounding exaust. Also not as loud as a mustang. I know different engines completely. Your expert opinion is appreciated. Not wanting expensive either
Several people have done it and it sounds great! If you have careless down pipes, I’d definitely do the complete setup. If you have factory cats, so have chose to just use the borla as the resonators tone it down just a bit much
Thanks I like your videos. Very informative. I'm i Texas so very strick on emissions and safety inspections. I was thinking about maybe removing second set of cats but not sure if it would pass

If I was to do this setup and left my Factory Flow Cats or use HFC, will I get any check engine lights or fail the Smog test?. I wanted to do my exhaust before tuning. Z1 Intake Tubes + AeF Filters coming soon!
This system will not cause a check engine light. It’ll still sound good with factory cats.
This is exactly what I needed! Good video 👍
Thanks for watching
Does this set up work for a 2015 awd q50 3.7?
It should. You’d just have to make sure the muffler clears the drive shaft obviously, but that’s the beauty of a custom setup. The shop can install it so it clears or recommend a smaller muffler that might fit better if necessary.
Alejandro Hernandez did you end up doing this have the same car AWD. Would like to know how it was
the main drive shaft is in the same location as the RWD, the only thing different is the transfer case and that is just in front of the merge portion of the Y pipe. So yes, it should work. I'm planning a similar set up thanks to the information from this video and I have an AWD.

Really appreciate the kind words! Trying to provide as much value as possible!
I got quoted 800cad which is around 650 usd just for installation I guess Canada is just more expensive in general :-(
Yeah that’s a little high. $250-350 is very common here.
Looking at the same setup for my 2014 AWD q50 3.7! When it comes to test pipes what direction should I start looking
For sure it will! Check out my more recent vids. You’ll get a better idea of how this setup sounds!!
@@SpeedCultureStudios yeah i checked it out a lot of people seem to love and I'm looking forward for the parts to come in and get it done.
haider ali awesome man!
I'm really impressed with this custom system and I was wondering if I could make it work for my g37 coupe or if not, get something similar to this
Yes I am sure you can.
Great stuff. Looking to do this same set up for my q50. Where are the links at?
Man thanks for this video! I've been researching exhaust systems for the last week and a half and for the money was not liking what I was seeing. I have a 15 Q50 3.7 and really like what you've put together. My intentions are to replicate your system with the exception of HFC's in place of test pipes.
That sounds like a good combo man. I think some other guys have done that recently as well.

A set of flanges and may want some fresh gaskets. Check out my SCS Catback made easy video for updated links!
Been looking at the infiniti sport exhaust for the q50 , really like the sound. Does your set up sound something similar to it ?
Hard to say if it sounds similar-this is a full catback system with test pipes. Totally different setup. But the sport exhaust sounds pretty good from what I’ve heard.
I’m concerned before buying all the parts if I need any type of tune or if is necessary to not have test pipes but just the catalytics from fabric 🤔
Speed Culture Studios
If I wanted to have it tuned using these three things to my advantage, how do I go about saying it? Like how much tune or what numbers do I say to have it fit the custom exhaust system you have?
Leyth Star The tuner will know what to do. They adjust parameters so the car runs to its fullest potential. It will make as much power as it can make.
So is this catback setup different then the one you have posted on Instagram? I noticed the resonators are a lot closer to the Borla but here they are further away, any particular reason?
Nvm the other g37 is a convertible

Speed Culture Studios oh okay
wow nice setup bro just what i was looking for great shit keep up the passion.

Not sure if you already answered, or have even been asked this, but could this setup be installed on the 3.5l AWD hybrid model? Only asking because I intend on a Q50 being my next car, but I live in the UK, and this is, as far as I can tell, the only 3l+ model available in the UK.
It can be, yes.

How would this exhaust perform with stock test pipes? Really not interested in headers
Test pipes are different than headers. With stock cats, it sounds great. Just a little more tame.
Is it a must to have Test Pipes and High flow cats for this setup, or are those just extras that you personally preferred?
The system was designed with test pipes in mind because rasp is such an issue, but test pipes are definitely not required. Retain cats to stay street legal
Awesome page man I love the content
Really appreciate it! More good stuff to come!
Did you bring the stainless steel pipes to the shop? I have never dealt with a shop before idk if they would have equipment to bend it and all that.
No shop will have exhaust piping

Speed Culture Studios okay thank you!!
so I'm looking to spice up my q50s, yours seems a little too loud for me. but I do like the sound, what can I do to make it just a tad bit quiet?
It’s really not all that loud but you could use larger resonators instead of the flowfx suggested. Remember this also has test pipes

Hey just seen this video and love the set up I’m thinking about getting it for my 2018 3.0t , you think the setup will mess with me installing my downpipes at too ?
Nope. It’ll hold right up. Check out my video specific to the 3.0t
Got all the parts besides the borla mufflers. Can the Stillen mufflers be a good replacement?
Different placement. That changes the design of the system
Would it sound good if I just installed the flow fx and resonated test pipes, Ik it would be louder without the borla, but would it make a huge difference in rasp or is it not too bad?
It would be louder and WAY raspy
Is it loud inside the cabin? Cause I don’t want a lot of drone cruising but I want it decently loud while stepping on the gas.
Little drone from 1800-2200 rpm but not bad. Easily hold conversation.
What size pipe did they use?
2.5”
It's hard to tell, but was he piping you had installed mandrel bent?
Not on this setup no. At these power levels, mandrel bends don’t do anything. These bends are so wide that there is no restriction in the system at all.
Would this set up ( yours )be better or as good as getting aftermarket FDP / DP and axle back? Performance wise.
Well downpipes and axleback misses the whole center section of the exhaust. But you would get any more power/performance out of an aftermarket setup.
Just ordered the exact setup.Cant wait to install it!! I mistakenly ordered a 3 inches in/out resonators instead of 2.5 inches. Would that make a difference?
It won’t really make a difference. Exhaust shop will just have to flair the ends of the pipe to fit the resonators

Haha no, it won’t scrape. Are you awd? It tucks in just fine if you’re RWD. I’ve never scraped the muffler and I am lowered 1.5”
Im rear wheel drive. He’s an older man and the shop owner so it may just be he’s old school or never seen this done before lol but yeah it’s gonna cost me around 300 or closer to 400 he said. Perks of living in California 👎 haha
And I as far as my suspension I bought the exact same lowering springs as you 👌

That is correct
I was debating buying a ark grip cat back but I came across your video , I think I saw you comment saying that it can be quiet exhaust system if you don’t have test pipes. I may be mistaken but I’m planning on installing this but wanna see if it will be quiet without the test pipes 😅 if so, what little tweaks would you make to make it sound a little louder/aggressive?
If you have stock cats, it will sound almost stock
Did you ever fight any CELs? I'm fighting p2096 and 2098 with HFC and stillen axleback only. 90 degree bung spacers didnt help. I'm also not tuned.
I had no check engine light because I was tuned at install. You can try the little steel wool trick. Stick a little steel wool in the bong extensions. Ultimately you will want to get a tune.
Quick question
Will this make any lights like check engine or anything like that turn on?
Not if you do the catback only.
Thank for this great informative video. Would you know if this same setup will work on G37s thank you!
Yes it does!
@@SpeedCultureStudios I really appreciate the info. I was lost but now I've found the right combination for a program also
So if I dont have the test pipes can I get away with not using the flex pipes?
You don’t need flex pipe but your factory y pipe comes with flex pipe to reduce vibration. Some like to put flex in their custom setup for the same reason. It has nothing to do with test pipes.
Just got this exact exhaust put on and they put the borla muffler on the back of the car... even with the picture 😞

Bummer
Aluminized steel is fine. Thickness is the important part, honestly. Don’t want it to be too thin.
i know this video is older but by any chance do you still have the model number for the borla as the link has obviously expired after all these years lol, thanks bro
Check out the links in this one: th-cam.com/video/VFG8e6eVTGU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xjPrKCHkd_6NJ2OJ
I’d go with the magnaflow alternative.
Speed Culture Studios THANKS for the response ! 🙏🏻
David Cisneros no problem!
Do you recommend on doing a tune right after this? Or will it run just fine until I set aside money for a tune? Obviously I won't get the benefits from all of this until that's done. Thanks for the vid!
If it’s just the catback you’ll probably be fine. I just would not run test pipes without a tune.
Thanks for watching!!
For future content, some ideas I know I would like to know about, I'm sure others would love to hear and gives you quite a few videos to continue on with (my way of helping out for everything you do for the community.)

-lightweight flywheel-I saw you responded to someone else that asked about this, but still maybe an informative video for the majority.
-Billet flex plate-How it works, benefits, etc
-Have you looked into the Traction Concepts LSD?
Check out this video-I give some more details and explanation in it.
th-cam.com/video/EAftIVIgVQU/w-d-xo.html
In general, narrower exhaust will get you better torque numbers.
Robert Tam thanks the support! Really appreciate it!
How is the drone inside when crusing on the highway with this exhaust setup?
No drone at cruising speed. Minor drone if I leave it in automatic going like 45. Still not bad or obnoxious. But I am always in manual mode so I’m not an idiot and don’t put it in 6th gear going 45. So there is no drone for me.
I have a 370z up graded sport touring roadster Are your dual flow fx from flowmaster where did you get them and how much also all the piping to connect everything was at the muffler shop all 2 and shalt in of it I have magnaflow now and it sucks. Good video looking at your cold air intake one now please reply peter
Peter check out my other custom catback video. Everything is linked in the description and a more clear explanation is provided
Excellent and thanks from Melbourne, this video will save me $$$$ bar shipping cost . Same principle for an 08 Skyline V36 350 gt sedan ? Also thoughts on Berk High Flow Cars please ? Thanks for the videos, much appreciated.
I often recommend berk HFCs. Good quality. Good price.
Speed Culture Studios Thanks for the reply, keep up the good work, your my go to guy on this platform.
Pommie Gooner really appreciate it!!
Have a Q50 infiniti 3.0t 300HP 2019 ..Florida..Is this special high performance exhaust street legal?..Love it's sound!..Peter Riggs
It is street legal unless test pipes/careless downpipes are installed. Still sounds good with factory cats!
Oh flex pipe sucks but you did it for the vibrations
What’s a good catalytic converter replacement? Mines are going bad(no cel light yet) and was debating on going universal because stock ones are pricey
Oe replacement is best but you could upgrade to a high flow cat
What’s the difference between this muffler and the one you got? Borla 400286 Turbo XL Muffler
I'm inquiring about this set up
I have a 2017 q60 3.0t and want a low rumble with little to no rasp.
This muffler is currently unavailable on Amazon. Do you have a recommendation for an alternative one?
amzn.to/2RIVOd0
It’s notched but can still be welded
For the Exhaust Flanges link, do I only need a quantity of 1?
Or do I need a set of two?
Flanges come as a set of 2. Just need 1 set
I'm wondering how this would sound if I just left my factory cats on. Same sound just a bit quieter ?
Yes. There have been a couple of guys that did it. A nice rumble
