My wife wanted a Lazy Susan for the downstairs island. She entertains down there often and would like a way for all her friends to be able to easily enjoy the variety of snacks and goodies that she makes available. There's actually very little that makes a Lazy Susan interesting since it's basically just the hardware mounted onto a board. With that in mind, I tried to come up with a way to spice it up a bit and to incorporate some artistic interest into the piece. Well, I think I did it! I used the "weaving" technique that I've explained in a previous video and managed to work in eight different species of wood into the piece. Walnut, Maple, Honey Locust, Purple Heart, Yellow Heart, Ipe, Marblewood, and Mahogany. Check out the video and see just how I ended up making, what I think just might be, the prettiest Lazy Susan ever!
Like the circle-cutting jig? Watch the Ultimate Table Saw Jigs pt.3 video to see how I made it!
Your description of the making process with puns and jabs on self are so much fun to watch.
The humor is just a cherry on top... Sweet work bro
Too beautiful for only a table.
I just want to pop in and say how much I appreciate your blooper reels. I listen to your videos while I game, and the combination of your voice and gorgeous visuals is really calming. The blooper reels add a level of unpolished humanity that's really comforting, because it knocks on the fourth wall enough to remind me that it's okay to make mistakes and small bloopers, because in the end it's all about the glowing wood finish, not the splinters you encounter on the way.
You are a good storyteller as well as a creative one. Good sense of humor too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Simply stupendous. From the cinematography to the sound mixing to the jokes to the way you explain what you're doing, I cannot think of a way to praise this video more highly.
Tip of the cap to you, sir.
Great to hear!
the purple heart is eye catching. please build an entire something out of it
Very nice Mr. Fisher. You are a true artist.
Thank you kindly
At least your neighbour got off light this time lol. Nice project thats well made
Thanks! Yeah, he dodged a bullet
Would've been nice to see your wife's reaction to it!
One simple word for this work is "BEAUTIFUL"
Thank you! Cheers!
I can’t get enough of this weaving technique! The woods you used were so cool looking all together. And I really like those last few stripes of maple you put in there for continuity.
Thanks Bruce. Yeah, I think those last two lines really brought it all together.
@@FishersShop Those last couple of strips ready made it work. I'm keen to give it a try....then turn it on the lathe as a dish.
Same here, addicted to the weave design!
You did a damn good job brother
Thanks!
Great video Friend! Thanks for always sharing them with us!💖👍👌😎JP
Thanks for watching
Your very welcome Friend! Have a great week!😎
I bought a Lazy Karen. It refuses to spin until it gets to speak to the manager.
Seriously though this is gorgeous, the weave down the side is great and the way that Yellow Heart stands out... just a perfect combination of fluid lines and textures.
Thanks, Alex! :)
“About donuts, I figured I could fit in another if I tried hard enough”
Had me wheezing. Fantastic video as always ;)
😋
You should make something in a weave for your kind neighbor. After all, he does donate so much material for your projects. Great job. I could watch you using this technique for hours. Btw, your humor is awesome.
:) Thanks for watching
I used this technique to create cabinet panels in my van renovation build. The panels turned out simply amazing! I take the credit when I receive compliments on my wood working but when I'm asked how I learned to do it, I say youtube baby, youtube. Thanks for this excellent how to video... really. You make me look like I know what I am doing. Thank you.... no really... Thank you!
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it
Truely beautiful
Thanks
Very Nice. Very Professional. Both the woodwork and the video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Drew you are about to hit 250k subscribers. To celebrate you should get a Festool sander and vacuum and you wont have to deal with a mask while sanding ever again. I found a set used I got hooked on Festool. I put a glass of water next to me when sanding several cutting boards and couldn't find a single spec of dust in it when I finished. Check craigslist and facebook marketplace for used festool and it no different than keeping money in a savings account. It wont depreciate any further. It's how I sell it to my wife at least. Keep up the great videos.
Yeah, I've been eyeballing the Festool and the Mirka
Man you are very good what you do you have a gift👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Excellent work, Sir. Excellent work, in deed.
Glad you enjoyed it
Classy dad jokes! Subscribed!
Welcome
Just beautiful.
Thank you very much!
Wonderful! Greetings from Germany! 🤗
Thank you very much!
Once again I love your projects
Thanks, Robert
What a gorgeous piece.
Thanks!
There is only a couple honey locust trees on my place but a neighbor has quite of few. I was not planning to save the wood because of the three inch thorns but seeing how pretty it is, it will be harvested.
Start with the neighbor's trees. :)
Well done I think my wife could use one as well, guess I’d better head to the shop
Go for it!
I love the woven look, and a lazy susan is a great alternative to endless takes on cutting boards. 😊
A few years ago I made a maple tool handle for a bowl gouge on my lathe, and I did a wavy cut in the maple blank and glued in a piece of green-dyed maple veneer. After drying, I then turned the blank 90° and did another wavy cut, and inserted another piece of veneer into the blank. Looked really nice after turning. I will have to try your technique to bring in other wood species, maybe on a cutting board, or perhaps on a lazy susan.
Thanks for the inspiration!
I love the instant gratification that oil brings.
Amazing work wood !!!!!!!😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
This is beyond woodworking, this is art!
Beautifully stunning!!

Thank you kindly
That circle table saw jig is awesome. Pure genius.
Thanks 🙏
@@FishersShop : you’re very welcome. I have a question. How do you stop glue from ruining your stain work? Thanks in advance.
@@thebobloblawshow8832 Easy... don't ever use stain. :) I guess if you have to use stain for something, just make sure you scrape off and sand thoroughly any glue squeezeout.
@@FishersShop thank you.
Beautiful piece!!
Thanks
Wow that's fun technique to join different kind of wood to create artistic looks👍👍👍
Yea he is good at what he does
Thank you so much 😊
You are one talented man 😊👍
With your permission I’m going to use this video to help justify (to my wife) my *need* for a better bandsaw! I am eternally grateful! I was struggling before I saw this!
I didn't invent using a bandsaw to cut curves so, by all means, have at it. :)
Thank you for all you learn me and all the laughter!
Any time!
@@FishersShop whenever Im cutting with my saw, i hear your voice, "sneak up on the mark" 😉 regards from the arctic Norway!
I could watch your vids over and over again. So creative and humorous. Thks
Glad you like them!
Pretty cool, mate! Thanx for sharing! ;)
Glad you liked it!
Lovely does not begin to describe this project.
Beautiful woodworking and the reference to your midsection was spot on! 😂😂😂😂👍👍😉😉
Thanks... I think. lol
Nice shop. Looks nice.

Love the comedic jibs and really enjoy your videos. This inlay technique is amazing.
Glad you like them!
Besides being an excellent woodworker, you are hilarious! Thanks for all you do.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Came for the knowledge, subbed for the outtakes. Appreciate that touch as a beginner 😂
Welcome!
That circle jig is fascinating!
Wow just wow. The tips and tricks you shared are fantastic. The doughnut joke had me chuckling for quite a while. Thanks for the vid!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome looking piece . Great job
Thank you very much!
At last......a totally needed use of walnut; not unnecessary at all!! Looks absolutely awesome Drew. Well done. I can see thrre will be more wood weaving in future projects too.
Glad you enjoyed it
That is a very cool project!
This is such a clever technique, and as a beginner in woodworking, I can’t thank you enough for demonstrating it in such a simplified way; it really gets that idea wheel moving. 😬
Anyway, this is a beautiful piece.
Glad it was helpful!
I clicked on this thinking there was a 90% chance I was going to watch somebody use a CNC machine to create that pattern. Really enjoyed the video and subscribed. Excellent work. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it!
As the saying goes. Pot bellies are Round! Lol
That turned out fantastic and round... As for the statement at the end of the video, I'm betting on the boy... Lol
LLAP
Thanks again!
That table saw jig is mind-blowing
Anyone else have no clue what he was making for about 3/4s of this video but u love him so much you stayed and watched till the end . No just me. Ok
I'm finishing up a Murphy bed made from solid walnut. I used Osmo to finish it. Oil/wax blends are now my default finishes. The look and feel is FAR superior to typical film finishes. Great video as usual.
Thanks!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
This thing is beautiful!!!
Thanks!
Love that family portrait....the project is super-cool, too. :)
Thanks, Jason
I live the technique in doing the weave. Beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
This woven pattern you do is gorgeous! Keep up the great work, it's always fun when a new Fisher's Shop video shows up.
Thank you so much!
That's beautiful. I think it would be even better if the whole thing was done like that. And using different woods for the kerfing strips. Other than that....... I WANT A BAND SAW!!!!!!!!!!
Stanley (my dad's name was Stanley) there is another way to do it using templates (that you can sand to get the curves nice) and flush trim router. You still need to cut, but you have the width of your router bit to guide the blade so you can get away with a jigsaw. It does mean that the insert has to be the width of the router bit, but if you sandwich three or four strips it is easily doable. Check this out to see another approach. th-cam.com/video/pLYYngtUCVg/w-d-xo.html
Do it and post your video
I'm struggling to learn mine. I was going to do his woven cutting board this weekend, but I tried a bandsaw box instead. I'm not ready to do a weave yet.
Very good a bit of art!
Thanks
That's gorgeous!
Thanks!
I love your voice overs and the bloopers. These are awesome videos, I'm glad I stumbled on them!
Glad you like them!
Beautiful build. I love that bandsaw technique for getting matching profiles on the pieces. I'll have to remember that.
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Drew you do such an awesome job with the wave and multi species look is just awesome. I so can’t wait to do one. I got so excited I got to see my sticker on the big bandsaw. I made my wife mad because I woke her up to show it. AWESOME!!!!! Thank you.
Haha, glad you liked it! :)
Stunning!
Thank you! 😊
What a beautiful piece Drew! As you mentioned, having the weave be off center is such a great design aesthetic!
Thanks Ethan! Yeah, I think it adds so much more.
@@FishersShop Absolutely!
OH CRAP!!!...nice craftsmanship sir with all the inlays...beautiful piece indeed...
Thank you kindly
Just love this weave design. So much fun to watch it come alive

Thank you so much 🤗
Fantastico, bellissimo, bellissimo
Great work, and amusing commentary. I love your channel. :)
Glad you enjoy it!
Hola! 🖐That is an amazing looking lazy susan!🤩Watching your videos in chronological order, seem that the cutting board was a "practice fun" for this project. Both turned out great if you ask me. Looking forward to getting through the remainder of your catalog and keep up with the current videos as they are posted. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
Thanks! Yeah, I love how this one turned out. Quite possibly the prettiest thing I've ever made.
Your very casual sense of humor is hilarious, and as always, great video, love it man!
Glad you enjoy it!
I love the look of all the different woods together. The lines all have a very organic flow, while the color variations draw the eye into a dance of intrigue. Stunning.
Thank you very much!
Great video and workmanship, your shop is so neat wow.
Thank you very much!
Great beautiful job, nice done!!!
Thanks 😊
Lovely work as always Drew. Love the ‘weaving’, and the flat heads 😂
Many thanks!
