New Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS first road review | The best sounding car in the world?

- The new Porsche Cayman GT4 RS has an engine derived from the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car. It reaches 62mph in the same 3.4 seconds as the road-going 911 GT3 and has set a new Cayman benchmark around the Nürburging. So is there actually any point to both GT4 RS and GT3 existing together?
Porsche insists there is; one is for the road the other the track it says. The GT4 RS has new aero - including a massive rear wing - is lowered, lighter and more powerful than the Cayman GT4. But the power is only 50PS up and the weight loss just 34kg so this is more of an evolved Cayman, than a brand new ballistic missile. It also has a 4.0-litre flat-six engine that revs to 9,000rpm and with a new air intake instead of a rear side window, rasps possibly the best sound in any car in the world.
Does it make the GT3 obsolete? Is this the best car that Porsche has ever made?

@The80shilling I just picked up mine last month and the sticker was $210K and that's exactly what I paid. Zero markup. I checked every box. You can see it, and a few other of my Porsches on my channel. My manual 992 GT3 is my favorite and my 992 GT3 RS arrives in April.
The noise is insane.

Just read your description. I have both this car and the 992 GT3 (manual) in my garage. They are different enough for me to have both! You say 3.4 seconds 0 to 62 but Porsche says it's 3.2 (0-60) and Car & Driver says it's 2.8s 0 to 60.

caymans are definitely underrated obviously because they want it below the. 911 but it should totally be looked at as an option for a cheaper(ish) track car

The car sounds nice, but for me it doesn't beat 1st Gen VW R32, or any of the higher output 5cylinder road cars. Group B 5banggers are also another matter, altogether.
It has Bluetooth, air conditioning, sat nav, high end audio, but... fabric loops for door latches and a sticker for the badge to save weight. Porsche’s priorities are on point! 😂
Porsche- we want to make GT cars for drivers, not collectors, so no limited runs of the GT4, but.... we’re only going to allocate one car per dealership! 😂
Dealerships are charging premiums of over 100,000 for this car. 🤬
All said and done, it’s an amazing car! Give it some bits from the GT3 and it will just smoke it!
*those* wheels are aluminium. You can get mag wheels, but they're not fited to that car.

The sound from the outside doesn't match the sound from the inside at all. From the inside sounds like a GT3 on steroids. From the outside almost like a GTS.

@@phillipmcmahon5949 99.99999% of the general public are not able to purchase the GT cars. You must know what I'm talking about if you deal with Porsche. You obviously have a lengthy relationship with your dealer where you buy many cars to stamp your ticket so you get the golden ticket when a GT model is announced. What I'm referring to is the annoying reviews that make out this car is available at the retail price to any member of the general public. There is no need for them to talk about retail price or options as the car when it does become available on the open market once in a couple of years will be at least £250,000 which doesn't relate to the original retail price. I just want reviewers to talk openly about these cars. Its like they are talking to children.

Not even close to be the best Porsche or best sounding Porsche! To be thes best sounind car in the world is not even a question, probably not even between the first 250 best sounding cars maybe even the first 500

Surprise it's not scary to drive, you're driving on roads and no where near to the car's limits.
