My First Potato Harvest! - and Dining Room Renovation in my 100-year-old Cottage

- My very first potato harvest! This was so exciting and the harvest was much larger than I anticipated! I gave my dad half of it since he eats potatos every day, which he was very happy about.
Living in a renovation caos is draining, so I finished my tiny dining room in a long weekend. The feeling of having a room done in my home was an amazing feeling and I'm very happy with the outcome! The paint color is the same as the one I have in my bedroom, but I somehow think it worked better in this room. I suppose it has something to do with the light.
In case it's confusing; this is footage from last year, September 2023.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for reading.

Dear Mathilde, I'm so happy to see that awful coral walls replaced with a pleasant, sagey green! You are doing an awesome job. ❤ from South Africa 🇿🇦
I agree, I was not a fan of the coral/salmon pink, so it felt nice to make it green! Thank you so much💛
Oh girl from heaven 🌹 Gorgeous face with heart kind one ,, Skillful and charming even ,, Oh mermaid from sea, Oh angel from garden of Eden 🏡 Oh girl from heaven 🌹.......................... A small poem on you ☺️
Everything looks beautiful in your dining room. You sure got a bumper crop of potatoes. Bless you and your home and your little fur baby. ❤️🤪
Thank you very much for you kind comment, I got a huge crop of potatoes - and gave away at least half of it💛
oh my ❤ I was looking forward to it! please make more videos, more often. you are so amazing, talented, positive, resourceful, brave and caring. I admire you very much and I love the landscape and mentality of the people of your country. Norway is my big dream 😊 I give you a warm hug from Poland ❤
You are so kind, thank you!💛💛 I aspire to post videos every week, but with commuting, renovating, life in general and a 9-5 job I struggle to make the time for it 😭 But thank you so-so much for cheering on me, it means more than you think!
I really hope you get to visit Norway, and I'd love to answer any question you might have if you will ever visit!
Big hugs back from the midnightsun in Tromsø💛
@@MathildeHenriksen Mathilde thank you. I was one in Norway (about 7 years ago), in Sandefjord for short vacation. We also went by bike to Tjøme, saw Verdens Ende. Isn't near you? I promised myself to come back someday to that amazing country. And be nice to yourself. Rest is very important. We will wait ☺️
@@izkafe2137 How exciting! Sandefjord and Tjøme is close to Oslo (the capital) down south in Norway. I have not beein in Sandefjord, but I've heard its pretty there. I live far-far north in Norway, in Tromsø. It's cold here and we are famous for northern lights and midnight sun:D
You are so kind. thank you
Love to know what you're doing this year. Beautiful job on the dining room.

Hahahah, I love this comment! I can't believe I've never thought of this before!! Thank you, this really made me laugh. And you are absolutely right, she definitely is caffeinated💛💛 I always joke that she don't know how to walk, she trot
Could you share some of your potatoe recipes? I enjoy watching your home being transformed into something soecial!
Love your videos...never miss one!!
Very pretty room! My house is that color. I love your view; what a beautiful setting for a home. My mother was Norwegian and Swedish, my father Swedish and Irish. Erickson, Swanson, Swenson, 🎉, Stinson and Degernes are my family names.
Thank you! It's a lovely color, I might paint my garage that color. How fun that your roots is form Scandinavia!💛
Quite the potato harvest from your garden!
Your newly painted room looks so inviting and cozy. Along with your impressive carpentry skills you have nice decorating taste!
Thank you, that is kind of you to say!💛 -Yes, I got much more than anticipated :D
that looks so cozy! can't wait to start with my own now!
Have missed you‼️ Please share more with us.
Aw, thank you! I'll do my best to share more often!💛
Hi, it looks so nice with the green !
Thank you!💛
More!
I'll do my best!💪💛💛💛
This video was fun!! Your dog sure was having a good time, did he (or she) manage to dig up any? Lol. Nice harvest...great job!
A freshly painted room giving off very cosy vibes. And what a glut of beautiful potatoes !
It does indeed!💛 The potatoes got really big, this bunch was actually one of the smaller ones 😮 The biggest was as big as my fist!
Nice job on the potatoes! I have my first harvest this year and cant wait to see the result.
I was having a proper Monday morning but luckily beautiful Mathilde was kind enough to put this video up and suddenly everything feels nicer and calmer, and Java is the cutest garden helper even, big love to you both x
Thank you for your super-sweet comment, you are very kind!💛 Java is the best helper, she even helped me dig! (but I didn't catch that on video)
@@MathildeHenriksen no worries you really lift my spirits and give Java a big hug from me, love to you both x
Room looks great, love the pup!
Thank you!💛 (I love her too, she is my best friend)
@@MathildeHenriksen
Your little room looks so cozy! We have similar taste. That potato harvest is amazing! Well done!
Thank you so much! 💛
💗💗💗
A bountiful bunch of potatoes. So nice and your dog is so adorable 🥰
Indeed it was! Kept me and my dad fed all winter💛 Thank you💛
❤😊
Viewing again and again 😊 There is a beautiful lake near your house if you do fishing then please make a video on that too 🌹🤗
I love your posts.
Thank you! 💛
How exciting your first beautiful potatoes. What a great healthy crop. Well done. It’s amazing how your beautifully you are transforming your lovely home. Thanks so much for sharing I love seeing your progress and transformations. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your kind and lovely comment!💛 It was very exciting indeed with the potatoes! Next autumn I will have an even bigger crop :D
🥰
You are my twin flame. I can’t believe the similarities in your design style. My house is similar. Yellow is my favorite color, but my house exterior is green with white shutters and painted sky blue doors. Country white interior walls with exception to bathroom with a green accent wall and the spare bedroom is green.
What a lovely comment, thank you! Yellow (and green) is my favorite colors too💛 Your house sounds dreamy and I can imagine how cute and lively it looks! People in my country loves white, grey and beige, and I find it sad that so few dares to paint their home in pretty colors.
Looks like great soil for growing potatoes.
It is indeed! This area was used as a potato field for decades. But it has not been taken care of since probably the 80's or around that.
That's great, friend. (new subscriber)
Nice ❤❤❤ Great video 🎉🎉🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! 💛
Love your dining room that colour is so pretty 😍
Lots of potatoes 🥔 should have kept you going for awhile 😂
Your little dog is so darn cute (I am sorry I am terrible at remembering names 😢).
Thank you so much! You are very kind💛 It did!, - it kept me and my dad fed all winter!
She (Java) is the sweetest and don't worry about remember the name💛
❤❤❤❤❤
Hello!
Have you any filmed footage from this Spring and Summer of 2024 as we are in now?
I am enjoying your videos, and wish for more. M.
Thank you, thats really kind of you!💛 I try to film what I can while I edit last years vidoes. I hope to catch up soon since I didn't film that much during last winter☺
What a wonderful transformation of your dining room! I love it! Were you able to eat all of the potatoes before they start going over? They looked yummy!
Thank you! The dining room made me so-so happy, and I still love that room💛
I was not able to eat all, haha! My dad got at least half of the crop, and he ate it all. I also gave away some to my mother and my closest family. The remaining became seed potatoes which got plantet a few weeks ago :)
You live above the equator. How can it be fall when summer is just starting? I don't understand!! But awesome job on the garden and the progress. I love it.
It's from last Fall.
Thank you so much!💛 @sailorgirl2017 is quite right, this is from last fall☺
Nice potato harvest and great dining room makeover. Do you ever go out on that water in a boat?
Thank you!💛 My dad has a small boat and goes fishing quite a bit, I used to join him when I was younger. But I don't do it as much these days, since I'm a bit scared of the sea. I live on a huge island by the coast of Northern Norway and the mountain view is the mainland :)
@@MathildeHenriksen it is a beautiful view. I didn’t know you lived on an Island. I live in Arkansas, USA and it gets very hot here in the summer. Your videos always look cool and refreshing with the view of the water. 😊💕
@@annward7021 Arkansas looks so beautiful and wild, I'd love to travel there someday! (but maybe not during summer since I'm bad with heat, hehe)
The summer where I live can be both very cold and windy, but I don't mind :)
@@MathildeHenriksen it is a beautiful place. I live in a cabin surrounded by a forest of trees and wild animals. A creek runs by my house and I love the sound of it. I hope you can visit here someday but not in the summer for sure. 😄 I believe God has created a beautiful earth for us to live on and different areas have their own kind of beauty. I can’t imagine what it would be like to live in a place that has so much snow.
You got potatoes in september? No way, here at mediterranian potato is ready by now.
There's no better texture in the world than real wood
What, already? That's wild! We plant them around may 25th to latest June 20th ish. And then we harvest in late September, early October. Our last frost-date is mid May so that may be the cause, haha😅
I love the smell of wood, timber and the texture is amazing indeed. I actually made the table-top of the green, little desk you see in video :)
@@MathildeHenriksen I forget how much colder is Scandinavia even though it has summers, it's probably because of temperature, but potato will always find a way to grow anywhere. The green table is amazing, it definitely fits everything
@@Devv2048 Potatoes are amazing, they saved my country from starvation before, and during the war.
I live in climate zone 7/8, so there isn't much crop I can plant really, haha
@@MathildeHenriksen What about fishing? You are next to water
@@Devv2048 Fish and potatoes is basically our national dish, yes! My dad goes fishing a lot and I used to join him when I was younger, but I'm a bit scared of the sea so I don't fish that much these days.
I noticed the date of video 2023. Any current 2024 videos of your house and garden?
I'm filming a little bit here and there and hope to catch up to the present time soon! I'm just a slow editor, sorry!💛
@@MathildeHenriksen No problem just enjoy watching your content!
The color of the walls is very beautiful. What is the paint color number?
It's brand specific I'm afraid, so the color number might not help. It's called Green Tea :) 💛
Love the green! do you have a root cellar for all those spuds?
Thank you!💛 I actually don't have a cellar, so I stored the potatoes in cardboard boxes in a cool room during winter. What was remain became seed potatoes and we planted them a few weeks ago :)
There is an old food-storage in my garage, but it needs to be improved before it's usable during the dark and cold wintertimes.
@@MathildeHenriksen sounds like you've got a good plan for your harvest though. That's great. Looking forward to the next update!
Hei.
You’re awfully young to be doing this on your own. Good for you get started early and retire at 40😂
