Great review. I just shared a review on the same helmet. My experience with the helmet is somewhat different from yours, I guess because I have a huge head and strong chin. I checked to see how much wiggle room I had on mine and noticed that mine doesn't move around on my head as much as it did on yours. So, I think you're right about it not being a good fit for a person with a smaller head. I never really paid close attention to the amount of flex in the helmet. The predator is actually my favorite riding helmet because of it's light-weight but your review makes me look a little closer at the safety factor. I actually like the open ear hole because it gives me the ability to hear my surroundings better.

A good way of fitting helmets from my motorbike days... is to buy ladies per1od pads... take the liner out of the helmet, stick the lady pads to the inside of the helmet, then put the liner back in... you can add bulk under the helmets liner to build it up where YOU need it... and the nature of the pads is they are very absorbent of sweat in hot months (wrong time of the year haha)... the predator looks better than the other one (DSG) in my opinion... looks less like an ant's head haha (preying mantis)
If you like to ride fast, 60-70kmh+ I am a proponent for using certified motorcycle helmets, if you fall it's sketchy at best if a bike helmet, skateboard or these type of helmet would give enough protection. Personally I love LS2 MX700 Subverter summer (35 air vents!) and Shark Evojet for colder seasons (practical, comfy & great FOV).
Thanks for the honest review on this helmet. I had a hunch it wasn't going to be ideal( for me), glad you confirmed this! I'm looking at several convertible DH mountain bike helmets one of which is a Leatt. Can't wait to see what you think of the Gravity.
I respect your opinion but coming from motorcycles this helmets light weight and features are great for me. After seeing the dude at Freshly Charged crash at 50mph with this helmet and it protect him, I was sold. Nothing like a helmet with low wind noise, good venting and good visibility all under 2lbs! It also fits my cardo, which is dope.
I saw the video. He hit and slid. If he hit and stopped that Predator helmet could have cracked, whereas a DOT could save you. He also was riding in a place with no impact zones or cars. If you fall and get hit, you are f without a real helmet. For what? To look cool. Modular helmets are the way to go. DOT and and you flip it up to interact with the world and your food and drink. Some even come with a built in visor and drink straw. I truly hate how cool this product looks, for it is too unsafe not to be novelty. Fools like you are going to be getting hurt because they followed Chang.
As an owner of a Leatt Gravity 4.0, I'd be happy to see a review of it on your channel, to compare impressions. Overall, a great helmet but I had to seal some of the vents to prevent wind noise.
It is allot of money with not allot of the now basic features like MIPS and safety ratings. I am still enjoying my BELL Super AIR R with the removable chin if I want to use it as a e-bike helmet but I must say I am so use to riding the helmet in full face trim that the next helmet will not be convertible. That Shoei Glamster is an awesome helmet. Keep well.
1kg250 is way too heavy imo for a EUC and overall PEV usage. Also, the visor of motorbike helmets were designed for motorbike usage where you don't often have to completely turn your head around. Even though they're great in terms of protection, you might end up regretting it in the long term for your neck integrity. Best protection isn't necessarily the best for all cases, there's a reason why MTB, MX and all other sports have their own helmets and don't just use regular motorbikes ones. Weight, field of vision are also critical points when it comes to protection and avoiding an accident.
@@eucrider297if you preffer to be comfy and dead i personally preffer to have proper helmet and have higher chance of surviving a crash ... and i went for LS2 Advant which weighs 1700g and its just fine for riding even on a hot day ... if you ride 40kph+ and not using proper moto helmet you are playing russian roulette with your life because bicicle/scateboard helmet will just split like a coconut at those higher speeds and the foam inside wont provide proper cushion ... "but its too heavy" has the same energy as "belts in a car are uncomfortable i wont use them" ... and graveyards are full of fools that thought they dont need them ...
Edit. Got the helm and it's wayyyy different from the one you had in this video. It's the "Zen Model", not XG. It's much more rigid and smaller than the one you showcased in the vid. So I dunno if it's just the carbon fiber that sucks, but the cheaper model seems to be 20 times better lmao. Nice that this video drops as mine is in the mail... I'm not gonna lie: I mainly bought it for the looks. But I didn't know the built was so flimsy. Might just keep it for the cool look, but once I get a higher performance wheel (I only have MCM5), I gotta get a safer helmet.
A very rigid helmet will transfer energy to your head in some instances, a flexible shell and absorbing padding will dissipate energy. Rigid eps foam liners and rigid shells work on high impact once, not multiple times. So, the idea that its "flimsy" is misleading.
Matt (owner of predator helmets company) charged me $69 for 2 day air shipping. He shipped the helmet via economy and kept the money. He also shipped the helmet without the mirrored visor even though it shows the mirrored one installed on the website and says it includes the black and clear. Other videos show it should come with all 3.
Get your money back. If it is too late, order another helmet and say this...Although the package says it was delivered, I did not receive the item. Then ask for a refund and when he says no, call your cc company and do a charge back. Then sell the helmet. Then pay yourself for your time. Then either donate the rest of the money or sent it back to him, NOT admitting what you did. Then you will be even. Matt will still be a fn loser, but at least you won't have gotten f by him.
That helmet costs about $40 bucks to make. LOL. What a piece of unsafe junk. Matt not going to last too much longer. I know guys like that. They get done or they do themselves after they get pressed by people like me. Always looks like they do themselves. lol
At this kind of price, I would probably go for a motorcycle helmet. I am currently looking for a full face closed helmet with a visor (to avoid these annoying insects), but Ib think that both the Predator and the TSG are too pricy for what they offer. I think that I will still look a bit more at this VECTOR II FF811 from LS2. 🤔
Thank you for this review, I considered buying one because it looks cool, but after watching your video, I realize that this thing is a piece of expensive garbage, I really appreciate this, I would’ve been really upset!
I absolutely love how it looks but I think you're right, I'll return mine I guess since it is brand new/unopened was looking for something to replace my cheap $100 one(that is really heavy and hurts my neck after a while) I also tried the Pass Pro, similar price, which I have returned for being too tight and can't fit my glasses I can't really tell if these helmets are worth their insane price... will look for something else, thank you I wish I had watched this video before buying
@@mr_wrongway Vancouver? big big big mistake, for a short stint like University sure but there is no future here for the majority of the younger fellas that want to get married, have kids and buy a house unless you get lucky and win the lottery.
One important nuance about helmets. The best helmet is the one on your head. You must buy protection gear that you will like the looks of and that will be comfortable and convenient; otherwise you're risking not wearing it one day. Thus, good looks of a helmet are very important
Thanks Adam. I really appreciate your input. Helmet fit is crucial. Helmet fit is so important to the overall enjoyment that I won't buy a helmet online anymore without being able to try it on. Also, safety is a no brainer as what's the point of it doesn't protect you?
I’ve had one for about a year and don’t feel safe riding with it. I replaced it with a motorcycle helmet for a lot less money. Also I’m not comfortable with the word “Predator” written across my head.
Hi Adam, a new subscriber here, this is a good review , thanks to you I would not order Predator due its loose. Do you have comparation the other helmet between TSG and Tripel Eight?
The only thing going for this helmet is that it's light. There are much better helmets for half the price, but it's not as light and you'd have to wear separate goggles. I'm still looking for something that is fairly light but has decent protection, DOT and MIPS certified, and has a large field of view too because it is important when eskating or euc to be able to see more below you.
@@mr_wrongway That's awesome! I've heard so many amazing things about Vancouver - a few of my friends lived there. I hope you guys love it! Oh, ok. That's a problem I've encountered with a lot of helmets - I only use transitional lenses on helmets.
@@thomasforssell9225 yeah. It's actually pretty nice! Smells terrible out of the box, but otherwise, a very nice helmet. Mine came with a few visors. One visor is extremely tinted. Might not be legal I think. Shipped from India.
I wouldn’t want to go any speed on a helmet 😜 When are you moving? How did you come to the decision/choice of Vancouver? I’ve never been to Canada, but I think it’s a great place; very different from its neighbor to the south, in many good ways. 😊
i was looking at small low profile helmets for using on my apollo e scooter, i didnt wanna get a normal motorcycle helmet due to it being to big and would cause my neck pain from how heavy they are, i was really hoping this was a good helmet, but i guess not
Yeah, my thouugths exactly when Jimmy and Andrew reviewed it but less honestly than you (In my opinion). But, With all it's flaws... let's remember this helmet saved Andrew's life when he crashed on the Begode Master full speed ! But I think Andrew as a pretty bigger head than yours, Adam.
You can't say it saved his life because you can't know how his head hit the ground. More than likely his head slid on the pavement where this helmet would save you from road rash. As for an actual impact, I laugh at thought of this actually doing anything. Save the TSG and Predator for kick boarders unless all you care about is looks.
@@todd6888 Oh yeah ? I Can't tell that ? Well... th-cam.com/video/e5ki31f2NMI/w-d-xo.html Just imagine if your head scratch the ground hard enought to hit the helmet like that... FWIW, if you're looking for anti-fog solutions, I *highly* recommend the Respro Foggy Mask. Basically a neoprene mask that attaches inside your helmet and directs your breath down/away from your face shield. I heard that pinlocks expire, and I've had solid success with the Foggy Mask for over a year now. Regarding this helmet, it looks so cool. Wish it was more useful. Wish it was compatible with my LightMode Night Shift LED system. I'd love to see more helmets emphasizing field of view. And I'd love to see more companies make LEDs that are specifically designed for helmets.
Airflite motorcycle helmets are cheaper, look better, have gold/silver/smokey black faceshield (other colors). And cheaper But you will not hear the wheel beeps at 60 km/h. It is heavier.
Nice video and nice feedback. I still wanted to highlight a small point on which I disagree with you. When it comes to security, you need to look the usage and not just the protection factor. Motorbikes helmets are made for motorbikes, they were designed with that in mind. So yes, they are amongst the most sturdy helmets you can find out there and offer top notch impact protection, but that doesn't mean they fit well with PEVs in general. First, they're way too heavy, 1kg to 1kg5 is way too heavy for a usage where you keep turning your head around every second. On the long term that could cause severe damage to your neck bones. Second, they were designed with the fact that motorcyclist need to focus on what's onward, therefore the field of vision is most of the time not great. Third, they were designed for high speed, and tbh, at low speed, especially in summer, they can become a hassle to wear, and you will either sweat way too much under it, or not wear it at all when it becomes too hot... Which in both cases can be dangerous. TLDR: There's a reason why MTB, MX, and all other sports have their own helmets. Each one is made with a usecase in mind. If it was all about just how protective they can be, you would see all of them wearing the same classical motorbike helmets. Also, even in the motorbike field, helmets can vary, GP helmets are definitely not your everyday helmet, and not only because they're lighter, the field of vision is narrower and the sound isolation almost null, because you're on a racetrack, not going for a day long journey, thus we need to maximize efficiency. Advocating for people to wear motorbike helmets on PEVs is imo dangerous both on the long term for your health (as you're straining way too much your neck muscles) and in the short term as you're probably restraining your field of view and your ability to quickly take a look at your surroundings.
@@mrroberts3768 2 reasons, first one is mostly because of your posture on a motorbike, which is mostly having your helmet partially resting on your back, also, high speed on motorbikes tend to lift a bit your helmet through airflow, especially on racing helmets, but now we're talking speeds you usually don't achieve atm on EUCs. Also because you don't turn your head that much on a motorbike, at least not as much as on a unicycle. Also, these problems are well known amongst bikers, that's one of the reason why we've seen huge improvements on helmets' weight, I myself am very carefully choosing my motorbike helmets that I use for long roadtrips, and weight is the first factor that drives my decision. Field of view is also due to the fact that passed a certain speed your field of view naturally gets narrower, also on motorbike you don't need to check so often around you, especially at high speeds, also not the case on EUCs. To give you another example, try wearing a F1 helmet on a motorbike, where top and bottom stickers restrain even more vertical visions because they don't need it. But that doesn't mean you wouldn't need it on a motorbike. Best example is MX, MX are motorbikes too, but since you need to turn your head very often, have a wider field of view, and be able to sustain bumps and loads, MX helmets look more like MTB helmets than GP helmets. Every helmet is usually designed for a special usecase. There's no "perfect" helmet for all sports, because it would be mediocre in all.
@@grumpykitten2448 good arguments. im not riding unicyle but scooter. at the moment im using motocross helmet with visor weight is aprox 1500 grams. what brands you sugest look ? also my head is 2xl size for moto helmet its 64 cm so dgs and predator i cant even put on because they too small xd
I am under the impression that these helmets are made for skateboarding and paragliding... To protect you from wind, loose low-mass objects, and relatively low velocity collisions. Maybe they'd suitable for One Wheel riders and older EUC generations that go sub-20mph but with today's EUC capabilities I'm concerned about the popularity of these helmets amongst the community. It's just not what they're intended for. Get something that's intended for dirt-bikers or motorcyclists like an adventure helmet as those are becoming the closest related activity to what we do.
That's why the maker of the Predator helmet doesn't even market it to any other market but "Air" on his website. Plausible denialability on his part to cover his ***. He can deny any claims that his helmets weren't strong enough to save your face/teeth/brain after a 35-50mph scooter or EUC crash. Looks like there helmets are just barley next to not wearing a helmet. Looking cool, and perhaps saving you from head/face damage at lower speeds (15-25?) is where the Predator is better than not wearing a helmet at all. It's just an insurance policy that will cost you $350-$650 dollars up front.
@@lefotografion it has a large field of view and is ece and dot certified. If motorcycle riders like it in a forward lean position, I would imagine euc riders would like it because we are more vertical so the weight of the helmet stacks on the bones. Most euc riders don't wear ece/dot certified helmets, I'd really consider it if anyone wants the large face shield look.
@@CoCody_ I don't want the large face shield look, I want a large face shield lol 😂 the icon airflite has just the fov like a rouroc or something like that. As someone else here in the comments said, the best helmet is the one you wear, and a low visibility+high weight and still above 300€ helmet is not one I would wear every time. This predator, especially the one with the magnetic system, is easy put on, low weight and highest visibility.
@@lefotografion look if you value a helmet with less safety if you got into a high speed crash, got hit by a car, landed head first into a immovable object, go for it. A very big thank you for the video. Appreciation to manufacturer for sending it to you. A deviation on the stretching of the helmet compared to certificated ones when pushed.. personally I see all manufacturer claims as null untill they are backed up with a certificate (I.E. where is MIPS?).
EUC riders going over 30 mph might want to consider wearing motorcycle helmets. it's not just about you falling off the EUC. it's also protection from cars that might hit you and send you flying. riders complain the 'visibility' is not as good with a motorcycle helmet but that seems kinda lame as full face motorcycle helmets have been used for decades
its pure excuse nonsense, visibility from full face moto helmet is just fine, they just cant handle few hundred grams extra weight and probably the goofy look of huge helmet on theyr head not realizing that the helmet is so huge because its made to withstand much more sever impacts so they shell out $600+ for skating "stylish helmet" instead of buying $200-ish moto helmet and being actually safe ...
@@Asghaad i own 4 full faced motorcycle helmets and 1 small 'skull cap' helmet. the visibility is the same for all 5 helmets. the full faced helmets in no way obstruct my view of anything other than maybe looking straight down at my motorcycle tank without tilting my head down.

Keep well.
I would watch you reviewing a pen, I like your integrity.
LS2 ff353 ca 60-90 euro +Pinlock, i use it 8 months with RS19 Hs, usually with 50-60-70 kmh and one of the best for it.
Weight, field of vision are also critical points when it comes to protection and avoiding an accident.
too heavy and too hot. Terrible choice
Fly racing has very good helmets for half the price of this. You get a clear visor and sunshades all In one. Dot/euro approved
Thank you for this review, I considered buying one because it looks cool, but after watching your video, I realize that this thing is a piece of expensive garbage, I really appreciate this, I would’ve been really upset!
I absolutely love how it looks but I think you're right, I'll return mine I guess since it is brand new/unopened
was looking for something to replace my cheap $100 one(that is really heavy and hurts my neck after a while)
I also tried the Pass Pro, similar price, which I have returned for being too tight and can't fit my glasses
I can't really tell if these helmets are worth their insane price... will look for something else, thank you I wish I had watched this video before buying
Good timing; I've been thinking about updating my helmet. Thanks.
Heard from Eevee's you were moving to Vancouver! Hope you enjoy like it here, will be awesome to watch your videos and recognize the scenery! :)

It’s the Rode Wirless Go II, really happy about this one :) I’m excited too!

Omg you're moving to Vancouver? I'm im the UK and have been dreaming of moving to Vancouver for years!
Hey Adam, what's your go to helmet or top 3 helmets if you don't recoomend the PREDATOR DH6-XG ?
One important nuance about helmets. The best helmet is the one on your head.
You must buy protection gear that you will like the looks of and that will be comfortable and convenient; otherwise you're risking not wearing it one day.
Thus, good looks of a helmet are very important
⚡ *"Named after a Fax machine"* 😂⚡
Great to compare it to the TSG Pass, very similar but different in some important aspects.
It's a nice looking helmet but idk if I would trust that at all great review man
Love that Begode/Gotway wheel you are riding.. Want one soooo bad.
Thanks Adam. I really appreciate your input. Helmet fit is crucial. Helmet fit is so important to the overall enjoyment that I won't buy a helmet online anymore without being able to try it on.
Also, safety is a no brainer as what's the point of it doesn't protect you?
Welcome to Super Natural BC. You will love Vancouver. Look forward to you doing vids in my hometown
I’ve had one for about a year and don’t feel safe riding with it. I replaced it with a motorcycle helmet for a lot less money. Also I’m not comfortable with the word “Predator” written across my head.
Just so you know. You've got a lot of fans in Vancouver already ;)
Hi Adam, a new subscriber here, this is a good review , thanks to you I would not order Predator due its loose. Do you have comparation the other helmet between TSG and Tripel Eight?
Love your honesty - stay true to yourself and keep it real - love your channel wish I could afford an EUC xD
"dring dring lol" I died 🤣🤣
This vs the TSG pass pro, which one would you get?
Are you moving to Vancouver Canada? If you are you need to take the ferry over to Vancouver Island and ride some of our trails! You will like them!!!

Monocat is already there :) moving next month. Thank you! I don’t think there’s a transitional lens available
@@mr_wrongway That's awesome! I've heard so many amazing things about Vancouver - a few of my friends lived there. I hope you guys love it!

I can't find that Leeatt Gravity 4.0 helmet in stock anywhere in the US 😔 I need it in Black and sized Medium lol
How about the Steelbird Air SBA-2 as an alternative? Cheaper and looks cooler. I'm going to try one.
I was thinking the same. Did you buy it?
@@thomasforssell9225 yeah. It's actually pretty nice! Smells terrible out of the box, but otherwise, a very nice helmet. Mine came with a few visors. One visor is extremely tinted. Might not be legal I think. Shipped from India.
@@UnidudeNine bought the tsg pass instead. Safety over looks 🤷🏼♂️
I wouldn’t want to go any speed on a helmet 😜
When are you moving? How did you come to the decision/choice of Vancouver? I’ve never been to Canada, but I think it’s a great place; very different from its neighbor to the south, in many good ways. 😊
I have the same problem with my Predator helmet. What did you use for the extra padding on the inner/top (3:31)? Thanks for any help!
I gave it away 🙈
i was looking at small low profile helmets for using on my apollo e scooter, i didnt wanna get a normal motorcycle helmet due to it being to big and would cause my neck pain from how heavy they are, i was really hoping this was a good helmet, but i guess not
you move to Canada? they have the same problems for bicycle lanes like America.
To be honest..It looks all show…but little go! So, why and when are you moving to Vancouver Adam? Europe will miss you!
Well...
th-cam.com/video/e5ki31f2NMI/w-d-xo.html
Just imagine if your head scratch the ground hard enought to hit the helmet like that... In what condition should you be ?
So don't tell me what I can or Can't tell... We have different opinions, I respect that.
@@EricAerohe fell on straight line and slid, hardly the life threatening crash ...
yes even bycicle helmet is better than nothing and will save you from scratchin and sliding damage, mot ohelmets on the other hand will absorb a LOT more from actual impacts
ffs if the helmet was actually safe for motorcycle speeds it would get certified as such, the fact it only has bycicle certification should tell you that it is NOT SAFE TO USE for speeds above that certification ...
I saw the video. He hit and slid. If he hit and stopped that Predator helmet could have cracked, whereas a DOT could save you.
And I'd love to see more companies make LEDs that are specifically designed for helmets.
pinlocks expire if you touch them. I installed mine a year ago and no issues yet.
Airflite motorcycle helmets are cheaper, look better, have gold/silver/smokey black faceshield (other colors). And cheaper
But you will not hear the wheel beeps at 60 km/h.
Advocating for people to wear motorbike helmets on PEVs is imo dangerous both on the long term for your health (as you're straining way too much your neck muscles) and in the short term as you're probably restraining your field of view and your ability to quickly take a look at your surroundings.
then why moto drivers didnt receive these problems from wearing moto helmets ?

@@mr_wrongway Hope to see a town review, European culture shock is very interesting.
@@mr_wrongway Like a lof of bikes in Vancouver?
Why are you moving to Canada??
I’ll make a video about it ;)
What about tsg pass pro?)
The icon airflite helmet has a similar look and is much safer
But is has waaaay lower field of view and visibility, also its nearly double as heavy
Wrong way wears a shoei helmet, go compare it's visibility to icons and think if he wears that, do you actually even need less helmet/more visibility over actually protecting your brain with already good fov.

A very big thank you for the video.
Appreciation to manufacturer for sending it to you. A deviation on the stretching of the helmet compared to certificated ones when pushed.. personally I see all manufacturer claims as null untill they are backed up with a certificate (I.E. where is MIPS?).
EUC riders going over 30 mph might want to consider wearing motorcycle helmets. it's not just about you falling off the EUC. it's also protection from cars that might hit you and send you flying. riders complain the 'visibility' is not as good with a motorcycle helmet but that seems kinda lame as full face motorcycle helmets have been used for decades
its pure excuse nonsense, visibility from full face moto helmet is just fine, they just cant handle few hundred grams extra weight and probably the goofy look of huge helmet on theyr head not realizing that the helmet is so huge because its made to withstand much more sever impacts
so they shell out $600+ for skating "stylish helmet" instead of buying $200-ish moto helmet and being actually safe ...

Opinions may vary, but In terms of safety, there is one rather famous Master EUC crash case where this helmet performed really well : th-cam.com/video/e5ki31f2NMI/w-d-xo.html Check the crash how it slams the pavement...anyway, it gets my vote :P
I was gonna mention that crash also. I was sold on the Predator after seeing the Jimmy Chang video "Begode Master High Speed Crash" The Predator DH6-Xg was pretty solid in that crash.
@@johnrichardson5089 still can't believe the guy didn't get a severe concussion. Moreover, my wife loves the white one and trust me, getting her to wear a helmet with her hair is something else ;).
