    People say Jordan kept basketball alive well if it weren't for magic and bird there would be no Jordan

    • @anthonylewis3095
      @anthonylewis3095 7 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      julian poblano You completely took that out of context. Like yourself and most people you communicate to respond instead of listen...the biggest breakdown in communication. However what is actually accurate is magic and bird at that point are old...it's a new day called the pistons and whereas they are entertaining to watch they aren't exactly what the people wanted at the time as the game was changing and it had absolutely nothing to do with Lakers/Celtics Clearly what fans wanted. In conclusion Jordan did save the NBA because he elevated the fan base worldwide from every business aspect you can think of. Ratings and anticipation were at an all time high....people whom weren't fans of the game became fans...and people made it a point unlike the two before him to travel miles just to see him play. So, I understand what you meant but in no way shape or form are you right. At the end of the day. You like most people forget this is a business and no one in history has generated the revenue at the time when the game was sinking like Jordan. So, in conclusion he did save the NBA.

And I just found out recently these two became so damn inseparable and cared for each other. I had a feeling but ya know- greatness recognizes and gravitates toward greatness. I love the Bird and Magic rivalry but I started liking basketball during the Celtics and Lakers during the sixties. Specifically Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. Then came Lew Alcindor aka Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Walton I can't forget "Pistol" Pete Maravich. Larry and Magic definitely pumped the money and the interest back into the sport at that time.

I was so sad when the announcement was made because even in the early 90's not much was known about the disease. But Magic being magic, kicked its ass and has continued to live a great life.

      I especially enjoy the part where they individually agree that one of the aspects of their friendship is that one doesn't try to change the other, accepting the other as they are, yet acknowledging the other's strengths as their own weaknesses. Bird freely acknowledges that there are aspects of Magic's personality that he wishes he could have....to be as open around people and charismatic as him. Likewise, Magic admits he wishes he could be like Bird in his personal integrity and principles....opposites attract, and at the same time iron sharpens iron.
