Speaking of "questionable software"... a bit concerned with the "DO NOT INSTALL ANTI-MALWARE or ANTIVRIUS, DO NOT ACTIVATE WINDOWS SECURITY" notice that popped up in the Discord wiki screen.
can you recommend a good mini computer that would be strong enough to run this without breaking the bank? and what controllers do you recommend? thanks for your cool reviews! pb&j cheers!
Yeah the acemagician would be a good choice, it won't run everything but it will run the vast majority of stuff. Any controller would work well. My personal go-to is just an xbox one controller connected with bluetooth.
Is there anything like this with other localizations? I'm would appreciate if I could play the localized versions of games. Maybe KrisCoolMod should bring out a version targeting other markets. If this thing would be available with German Roms I would have already ordered it.
First, great video. Second, yes, 96 TB video please. Third, for the higher end 3-D games like PS2 and Xbox 360, if I wanted a game that isn’t on the hard drive would I be able to install it on the hard drive provided that maybe I can get rid of games I don’t like or care for? fourth, would it matter in terms of performance if I were to get this hard drive and put it on an SSD?
3rd - definitely, you can easily add your own games. 4th - it probably won't make much of a difference, however some of the larger games would load faster.
I like this product. It would call it CoinOPSX on steroids. I just bought an Anbernic RG353VS for $94. The price of 4TB microsd cards are dirt cheap. $400 is too much for me to afford. If the price was around $99 I would be a player and it would sell millions. I realize a lot of thought effort and configuration went in to this product. Hoping for a significant price drop down the line. Thanks for the video.
Be careful of those terrabyte SD cards. The largest legitimate size is 1TB and cost around $100. The cheap ones are fake and use a small SD that's been hacked to look like it has the stated capacity. They will become corrupt when you put more data on them than the actual capacity. Usually just a few gigabytes.
I hear ya. I'm a cheapo with everything! I need a new coffee maker and I just can't bring myself to pick one and buy it so I've been living with my old one that leaks :S
It's his own front-end. As you can tell from the video, it's a modified version of Hyperspin once you get into the wheels. I have his 48 TB version, there's also a Launchbox front end option
Save your money and buy a kinhank 12 tb drive beats the 4 tb koolmod drive hands down. I made the switch and never looked back. At least I got a very expensive backup hard drive after a quick format lol$$$

Hey Tech Dweeb, getting ready to take the plunge and buy this drive. I was wondering, I just put together (can't really say built) a PC with a HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF w/ Core i5-6600 CPU @ 3.3GHz - 16GB RAM - I installed a GTX 1650 GPU. Do you think that dedicated PC for emulation with be able to play pretty much all the games on this drive. Any comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Hard to say. PS2 can be pretty CPU intensive, so that might struggle. And xbox/360 stuff can be hit or miss on lower end gpus. So I can't say for sure, but my bet is that the vast majority of stuff will run fine. This is nice, but too expensive. Maybe one day it would go down in price, in the meantime, I'll play my Console Cube X3. :) Great video, thanks for posting.
Do you have access to all roms in case you want to grab a few and put them on your retro handheld?
Yup! That's one of the best parts about these retro drives. You also get a rom collection that you can use anywhere.
@@TechDweeb nice, definitely getting myself one of these soon.
What’s better this or Hyper Base Mix?!?!?
My personal go-to is just an xbox one controller connected with bluetooth.
can you review the dos games?
Can you pull roms from it?
Yup! You can easily access the ROM folder from Windows.
$99 barely covers the cost of the external hard drive, you'd basically be getting all those games and setup for $0, I wouldn't hold my breath on that
You're never getting something like this for $99. Keep dreaming.
When will this drive be compatible with Mac OS? Thanks, good video
Not the front end, it's a Windows program, but you would be able to use the ROM files as long as you set up the emulators yourself on your Mac.
it's always been a dream of mine to become a ghost and to haunt bestbuy :)
I hope you get to do that some far away day!
Will it run on the deck tho
My thoughts exactly and for $379 cad they'll send you a micro SD preloaded and optimized for the deck I guess.
@@therealfornicusIt's under 250 in US dollars
@@SensibleChuckleOn what site??
@@Disconnis It's $256.50 after the 10% discount code that Kris posted in the comments.
I enjoyed your humor. I'm considering this hard drive but havent made my mind up yet. Kind of a cheap skate.
I hear ya. I'm a cheapo with everything! I need a new coffee maker and I just can't bring myself to pick one and buy it so I've been living with my old one that leaks :S
@@TechDweeb if only we weren't forced to pick products these days, based on which is the least crappy. That's that planned obsolescence for you.
I know you said windows but will this work on steam deck ?
Not unless it's running windows ☝️
@TechDweeb are the roms transferable to other storage mediums maybe I could make a steam deck compatible games folder from this collection
Do the gaming emulators suport game genie codes
Nope, but you can use retroarch cheats
I wish the 10% coupon code would still work.
No wii ?
🤷
Why does it have to be a "black" box?....
What software does it use? Is it retrobat or something complete new?
It's his own front-end. As you can tell from the video, it's a modified version of Hyperspin once you get into the wheels. I have his 48 TB version, there's also a Launchbox front end option
@@Gumdoc9 ah thanks
$3600 for the 96TB! Crazy
Prices are outrageous, however I like the idea.
Maybe consider selling the ISO (with no games) and let the user set it up.
That's really what you're paying for here. The data.
you should buy a crt and use it as a pc monitor
LOVE that idea!
Save your money and buy a kinhank 12 tb drive beats the 4 tb koolmod drive hands down. I made the switch and never looked back. At least I got a very expensive backup hard drive after a quick format lol$$$
How is it better? Not full of viruses and junk? I was curious about that one too. Thanks!
Bro You should do something about that cold.
It looks really great, in fact perfect. I wish it didn't have, modern, still available to buy products. I want something with that amount of care and love putting it together, but only from 1970's to 2004.
I'm with ya.
Check out this video where I try different emulators on a mid-range gaming PC with similar specs to yours: th-cam.com/video/ttA7bUCziR4/w-d-xo.html
@@TechDweeb Thanks, really appreciate the quick response. I may just have to build a higher end PC to run some of the games that are included, it should be worth it. BTW I have decided to join your Patreon page. Your content is pretty amazing and always helpful, it does not go unnoticed, so thanks!
what new switch game?
probably zoldar the sad king
The 96 tb is over 3000€ . I thought first.... They fooled me it was only 860€ but this was on the lower versions.
I want the 96tb he makes lol but don't got pc thst can run all of it haha
He forgot to add it but Dweeb10 gets you 10% off.
