So lovely, you need to make a book of before and after's to be available to your renters! It's so hard to visualize after the fact when all is so beautifully done!!
Thanks for sharing this important information Amy! I have heard bits and pieces of the preservation of the façade and certain trees. It was very nice of you to share even more. Wishing you the best at reaching your goal with completion and less stress 🧘♀️. Fabulous job 👏
Hi Amy, Thank you for the update. The house renovation looks great, and you have a professional team of people who know their crafts. It's been a joy watching the interview with INAH and the house transformation. Please keep me posted on your progress. I hope to hear back from you soon. Good luck with the project.
I must say that the transformation of your house is astonishing. The renovation brought new life into the house, adding an extra layer of INAH historical preservation and value to your home (the width of the walls is remarkable, it could be humorously considered as a shelter for world war events). Congratulations on assembling a wonderful team and creating a successful story.
I have mostly lived in old homes in a city (Houston) that generally doesn't prioritize preservation. The city allows the market (developers) to drive building projects. As a result, there are many newer and sometimes inferior homes being built all the time. I can appreciate the drive to maintain the original character of a place. Thanks for sharing the journey @DestinationRetirement. 💛
I spent 2 years trying to get my permit from INAH. The land is now up for sale! i am happy you had a better experience with them. Your homes are beautiful and you have done a wonderful job! Congrats to you!
@@DestinationRetirement hi amy, my land is on calle 64 #369 (43-45) 840m2. INAH has been a nightmare for me. also i had a horrible architect who tried to pass off a fake INAH permit to me. (this happens a lot here.) it has been frustrating to say the least. even a Federal lawsuit and notifying the 'Control Body' resulted in...... nothing. so i am selling. i am looking for land outside INAH...actually many people are do this, not even looking inside their jurisdiction.. i know of someone who bought a property here and INAH is giving them a lot of grief for interior renovations done 20 years ago by someone else....they say those people did not have a permit, but INAH is holding them responsible. (makes 'Buyer Beware' an understatement.) i could not imagine buying a property and being blamed for what someone else did or didn't do....usually it is INAH's incompetence that they then blame on anyone but themselves. wild and wooly here!! take care amy....all the best, suzy.
Hi Amy I want to thank you for your videos you are wonderful and you inspired and now I’m in the process of buying a house in Merida. Your houses are both so beautiful!!
It just occurred to me (and I might have missed this in a previous video): while doing demolition, did your crews find any interesting stuff in the non-historical walls and other bits they tore out? (e.g. old bottles, etc)
Door is wide open. I am putting triple pane glass on the front windows. Plus, downtown Centro has switched to electric busses. The primary bedroom is in the way back as well. We were standing right by the front door.

FAB Idea. I will do just that. I was going to make a book for my parents as there memory is starting to fail. I'll do both.
So excited to see the final finished house.
Me too! ;)

Thank you Ruben. The previous owner walked through a few months ago and loved it. I hope to have any of their family over for the reveal party.

I have seen that in lots of cities. It's a shame when it's a perfectly good house they are taking down. Houston is a lovely city.

Oh I wish. But, no. Once I bought a dresser at an antique store and I found a sweet old dance card!
It’s located at an underpass???? That traffic zooming by is a def no for me
