Hey Amy, You always put out the best darn videos! It was fun to see some of my favorite things as well. My favorite cocina ecinomica as well! Love that you threw in some different new food items to try. I also love it when an Airbnb puts out a guest book and encourages theirs guests to write some of their favorite experiences. As long as you included a good lime squeezer you will have the best Airbnb’s no doubt 😄 Salud 🥂
Hi Juliet! Thank you so much. I toiled over this video and it was so much fun. I had to remind myself to get to work. Funny we both like the same cocina. It is comforting in a way don't you agree?
I read your other long comment. Thank you! For some reason I am not able to respond to it. Sometimes YT can be hard to figure out. Maybe they are holding it up for review because it was lengthy. Anyhow, thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment.
Great video, not just for Merida, the tips can apply to most Mexican towns. I learned half a dozen new things and I've owned a place in Mexico for 15 years.
Wow! Here I am, exploring the mountains of Mexico -- watching your video. Great tips and maybe Tip # 21 Just breathe. -- This is a beautiful country with lovely, warm people. Let all that stress go and love the ride.
Amy, thank you for the tips! I've found your content very informative, in fact, we plan to move forward with Luis Loria and Mariana once we've located a place in Merida.
@@DestinationRetirement thank you so much! We’re working with a different agent for now. We appreciate your thoroughness in delivering quality content!
Thank you for your amazing videos. My husband & I always look forward to them. Your Spanish is impeccable & we were wondering if you took any classes & if so…did you take classes in our beautiful city or elsewhere? Our Spanish is so so but we want to continue to learn so we can continue to integrate into Merida. Thank you so much for all the information you share 😊
Hi Kat! Thank you so much. I lived in Mexico in the early 90's (my early 20's) in a town where almost no one spoke English. 3 years there, and youth on my side, and I picked it up. I'm so grateful for that time. Thank you so much for watching!
I just ran into your TH-cam interview with Jose last night and was happy to subscribe to help your numbers :-) These are fantastic tips that take, even for seasoned travelers in Mexico, some mistakes and time to learn! Isn't Merida wonderful! I'm glad you "discovered" it (Unlike Columbus, right? ja ja.) A native of Spokane, I did dissertation research in Bécal about women weaving jip-japa in the caves, there, I kept an apartment in Mérida, and learned the amazing beauty and unique, international offerings of this city. Blessings and good luck to you as you continue on your "Five Year Plan." I loved the suggestion of using the app for the 5 year that actually gives you year; day; minute; seconds, and your post it notes inside your shoe closet.
Hi, Will you be actually driving down when you’re finally ready to move? I am really inspired by your story. I am already preparing by selling things at my house and purging. I am just not sure which part of Mexico yet I want to live!
Thank you, thank you! I thoroughly enjoyed this mini-training on the tips and tricks, 😮ins and outs, the good and the not-do-good, the cultural pleasantries, and how I can best show respect to those whose 'home' I am now living in (soon, I hope😉). I learned so much (!!!) and was entertained along the way (is that you singing??? Omigoodness, you're not only sweet and funny 😅😂🤣, but off the charts talented!! )) And h 😅ey; if it wasn't you, you're still wise, and you are funny😁😀 there is that.🫠 Thank you! 💞
Excellent video! My wife and I had a week long trip planned for this week but had to cancel due to the hurricane or as we call it here in Florida, afternoon shower! LOL
Terrifico, Amy! Muchas gracias!
De nada. Abrazos! :)
Thank you for the well laid out tips there are a few new ones that I didn't know about so thank you
I really appreciate that. :)

Nice Video Amy. I enjoyed it.
We are living here now.
We have been house hunting. The search continues.
So happy for you! I'd love to hear about it when you find a house.

Hello Amy I'm new to your channel do you have anyone who can assist with a scouting tour? Thank you for such great information
@@csmith9899 Hi! Actual house hunting or someone to give you a neighborhood tour to get you acquainted with different areas?

I love your song!
Thank you Jenny. It's the ole improv coming out. ;)

Driving down is too far for me or my desires. I get tired driving long distances. It's great that you are starting now on purging. Always a good idea.

What a lovely message to wake up to. Thank you so much. My singing is shower singing. ;). The jazz singer is not me. :)
Dzalbay it´s a must. What months are you in Mérida?
I try to do every January for the whole month. This year will be Sept and Jan.

Thank you so much. I hope you can reschedule your trip.
@@DestinationRetirement Yes, already done for Nov
@@DMacsTravel-Concerts-Sports Well you will find November weather to be more pleasant anyway. :)
Can you buy a cheap bug VW with cash and then is it hard to register it if you don’t yet have citizenship?
If you buy a local car (Mexican plates) I think it is super easy. I am not sure yet. It will be a while before I buy a car.
Amy, will you talk about the Maya Train in the near future?
Absolutely. After I ride it in September.
