    I'm consistently confused as to why you don't have a million+ subscribers. Your videos/recommendations have not only saved my skin, but made it better than its ever been before in my life, tbh. Almost all my products have either been introduced to me by you, or have had to been reviewed favorably by you before I purchased it. Thank you so much for posting such regularly high quality content

    Fyi, according to research, whatever percentage you choose to go for in regards to retinoids, reaches a plauteau after a year. One study showed no significant difference between 0.025% and 0.1% tretinoin after 48 weeks, besides the severity of irritation. Meaning you can still get all the benefits using smaller doses still. Hope this helps.

      This is apparently only with regards to anti aging as opposed to the anti acne use of tretinoin

    You look great. Your skin always looks so plump. I always get so excited when you upload.
    I started tret 0.025 one month ago. I use two times a week. I have noticed my skin is more plump and smooth. I do have hormonal acne, but it's clearing up. I do get black heads on my nose, and I have noticed less black heads. I have noticed my face is more sensitive to the sun. It's barely starting to get hot here in NorCal, and I noticed I can't let the sun hit my face for more than 15 mintues or else I start feeling hot. I am reapplying sunscreen. This is just one month of using tret, and I can't wait for my yearly update.

    I'm a teen, but I've struggled with acne and hyperpigmentation. I find that I get the best results when I space out my Curology treatment throughout the week (probably like 2-3x a week). After I cleanse my skin, I apply it directly to my face that I patted dry with my hands, apply eye cream, wait a few minutes, then go over my face with the Sioris Time Is Running Out mist. I find that I get the best results the closer the layer of the active is to my skin. In the morning after, I just massage with a creamy cleanser and wash, then go over with my regular toner, essence/serum, a lightweight cream, and a slightly creamier moisturizer! :))

    On month 2 of tretinoin. Purchased a tester size of the laniege skin cream. I can almost hear my skin say ‘ahhhh’ when I put it on. Will purchase the full size bottle. Using a variety of products recommended from some of your other videos helped get my skin into a really good state, so I’ve had a relatively smooth transition into using tretinoin. The only hick up being when I went to tackle my upper lip hair. The skin being much more delicate.. let’s just say a layer of skin came away on both sides of my lip, now dealing with the scarring. Never been so happy to have a mask to hide behind. Thank you for another great video!!

    Oh hey! Congrats on 40k! 🥳 I saved this video to watch as I did my own tret routine ☺️ I’ve only been on tret since October, but I’m so happy I started. I started with just tret and niacinamide but my next bottle will also have azelaic acid, so I hope that will help with a bit of redness and minor breakouts. I’ve been using the same eye cream from FAB because I don’t want to risk it with tret around my eyes, but I want those benefits in the eye area! I really liked it, but I used it up and have a few others to get through before repurchasing.
    I cleanse with the Optimal results hydrating cleanser from Paula’s choice, then Bioeffect EGF essence and retinol eye product, right now it’s the eye serum from Dr Dennis Gross, then the omega complex serum from Paula’s choice, then tret and a ceramide cream. Next morning I just rinse with water, Purito Centella toner, eye cream with Vit C, Purito Centella serum, Klairs soothing serum, a serum from a danish brand that contains Niacinamide and ceramides and then a peptide moisturizer and sunscreen.

    Hey Kelly! This was a great routine. To answer your question, I've just 'upgraded' to a retinal 3x a week after finishing up my Cerave resurfacing retinol serum. It was a great start for well-aging but I wanted to gently kick things up a notch. Entirely too early to tell if things are changing but I've fallen in love with deeply hydrating nighttime routines. Finally waking up without dry cheeks and temples.

    Hi Kelly I've been using tretinoin for about 18 months (I used retinols for a year before that) and am happy at the 0.05% strength. I have very dry, rosacea and eczema prone skin, plus I'm 49 and post menopausal. My skin has also thickened/strengthened/firmed with the tretinoin. That strengthening has helped my rosacea a lot, but it isn't without the occasional difficulty. If i'm in a flare I have to miss it out until my skin has healed. Around my eyes and my neck/chest I use a retinaldehyde (geek and gorgeous 0.05%), as neither area will tolerate tretinoin. I have always buffered it with a light layer of moisturiser and still had excellent results. I use the soon jung toner, the cosrx dual chamber snail essence, a ceramide serum from Superdrug mixed with a facial oil and a light layer of the first aid beauty ultra repair cream. Allow to absorb for 20 - 30 minutes, then follow with the retinoids inc tretinoin and a final layer of a thick emollient cream (currently the Altruist). In the morning I use a similar routine initially, but swap the ceramide serum for an azelaic acid serum, then the FAB moisturiser and sunscreen. I use an eye cream morning and night also. It took a long time and a lot of patience, to acclimate my hypersensitive skin to retinoids. The results have been worth the struggle though. It's a marathon - not a sprint. it's not a quick fix or a miracle, but it does yield results with time and consistancy. Best wishes.

      I started using the Olay Retinol 24 eye cream and it's been lovely! I was skeptical at first, but it is very effective - the retinol is also encapsulated and works over 24 hours so it's less irritating. I use full strength tretinoin on my face, but I haven't found a way to use any prescription tretinoin around my eyes without irritation. I'm really pleased with the Olay being very effective, but also very gentle. If you don't end up loving the Neutrogena, it's worth a shot, easy to find at the drugstore.

    As for the skin feeling thicker, it is! : D Tretinoin compresses the stratum corneum (some people believe it thins the skin, but it doesn't, only compresses the very outer layer) and thickens the layers underneath. And as other commenters have mentioned, the results plateau no matter what percentage you use. You can get the same benefits no matter the percentage and you may think you are not getting benefits anymore, but keep it up and thank yourself in 20 years, LOLLL, you'll realize you have been getting all the benefits when you are the only one carded at the bar with your coworkers (and they're all in their mid 20s and you are in your mid 40s).However, DO NOT EVER GO ONE DAY WITHOUT SUNSCREEN!! If you watch this channel you already know this, but if you don't wear sunscreen it doesn't matter what you do for your skin care routine, you might as well do nothing cuz not wearing sunscreen just destroys and reverses any work you put into your skin.

    While watching your routines I thought: my skin couldn't absorb so many product layers, they all would be dripping off :D In the morning I just use a serum and an SPF (instead of moisturizer :)) Since retinoic acid is heavily restricted in EU, I'm a year in using various retinols (Medik8, Inkeylist, Shani Darden). I've never experienced any irritation, so I'm also planning on upping the game and trying products with retinaldehyde.

      I don't know how often you apply it but that should not be happening after a year of use. Have you mentioned that to you doctor? You don't want to have your skin in a constant state of irritation and inflammation. Some people can only use tretinoin once a week, some cannot tolerate it at all. My skin is super sensitive to essential oils but I've only had a bit of stinging sensation when I started my tretinoin (every 2nd night), and just for about 2 weeks. Other than that - no peeling, no irritation. I was on it daily after a month.

      You can, some people get really bad irritation/peeling on their neck and chest (I personally don't) so it's a YMMV proceed with caution kind of thing. You could also try a OTC retinol cream or even eye cream since they tend to be a little gentler than tret.

      I wear lots of make up so my night time routine is: I use an oil (purito) to gently melt down my make up.
      I then use a wash off gentle cleanser (heimish all green clean).
      I never use a towel, I let my face air dry but leave it a little damp.
      I use the I’m From rice toner, a few drops in the palm of my hand and pat it on my face. I repeat once more and leave so it’s almost dry. Then I use Missha time revolution essence (spay bottle). I spritz all over face, leave to nearly dry and repeat again. Once nearly dry I use 4 pumps of the Cosrx snail mucin essence. I then go on my phone or watch tv for half an hour (no less) I wait until my face is fully dried and given time for the first lots of products to sink in. Now I use my differin, I leave this to sink in for 30 to 60 minutes. I now move on to last steps. I spray once a again with the missha essence, then use the cosrx propolis serum, let that sink in. Then I use the snail mucin moisturiser. My final product varies between the cosrx ceramide cream or cerave night moisturiser.
      Writing this I’m realising I’m abit extra. I have suffered with cystic acne for years on my chin. I have scars and hyperpigmentation. I’m on week 16 of this routine and never miss a night. AM I wash with gentle cleanser and air dry. When slightly damp I use the I’m from rice toner let that soak. Then isintree green tea toner. Then the missha spray essence, twice letting each one nearly dry. Then I use tranexamic acids (face theory exoglow). Once that sinks in and my face is slightly damp I apply the purito centella sent free toner (the consistency is more then water but less then serum). Leave it a min then use the dear klairs fundamental water gel moisturiser. Then add sunscreen. Leave it 10 mins before doing makeup. It sounds like it takes a long time to do but in reality it’s pretty quick. I have combo skin but an oil slick t zone. My skin is very balanced now. Believe me, if I didn’t get results I’d be on to the next big thing. The toners can be swapped around to anyway your happy or find one you love and just use that 7 times or more or less it’s up to. I will like to try the Stratia Liquid Gold but it has Parabens, so that’s a big downside for me!

    • @wandacalcano2217
      @wandacalcano2217 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @RJ there’s scientific evidence that shows that Parabens are absorbed into the bloodstream and tissues. Also they are hormonal distruptors and even when they are used in cosmetics in “safe” concentrations they accumulate in your body over the time. Also there are studies that have found Parabens in cancer tumors when they perform the autopsy. So, regardless the “safe” amount used, I don’t take a chance... If you think carefully, there should be a good reason for a lot of companies that are not using Parabens anymore and others like CeraVe are reformulating to remove them.

    • @wandacalcano2217
      @wandacalcano2217 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @RJ First, I don’t eat apples! Second, if you want, you can use all the Parabens you want and believe what do you want. If they aren’t so harmful, why they are regulated to be used in less 0.4% per formulation. I’m a scientist, so I also decide what info I trust. Go ahead with Parabens, that’s your problem. I don’t use them, period.

    • @wendigo1919
      @wendigo1919 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @RJ 110% truth. Fear-mongering and relying on flawed studies.

    • @skittydreamsd4766
      @skittydreamsd4766 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Parabens are known to cause skin irritation at higher concentrations that’s why the percentage of it is so low in products. At their current concentration they are still effective at inhibiting bacterial and fungal growth so there really is no reason to use a higher percentage. Just because something is found in cancer tissues doesn’t mean that it’s the definitive cause. 99% of people in America have parabens in their bodies, but they don’t all develop cancer. Why? Because it’s usually a multi factorial disease that develops due to overlapping idiopathic causes. A small amount of people may be triggered by parabens and develop cancer due to their genetics, but the majority do not.

    • @genevieveve

      Adapalene is similar, but it works more to slow hyperkeratinization of the pores so it works better for acne vs. other benefits of tretinoin. It's better suited to skin that is easily irritated, and it's a bit less fussy.

    Yesterday I signed up for Curology based on your recommendation from this video. Sadly I was prescribed a formulation that does not contain any tretinoin. Rather I received a formulation of clindamycin 1%, azelaic acid 4% and niacinamide 4% all of which doesn’t require a prescription. I requested0.04% to 0.07% tretinoin in my profile. I’m so disappointed with the experience as I thought I’d receive prescription grade products rather than stuff I can get OTC.

    • @dcdawn
      @dcdawn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is very odd. When I applied for my Curology in the States I had to send pictures and they hooked me up with their online dermatologist and I got my prescription relatively quick. I think there’s some places in Europe and England that don’t have Tret so could that be it? If you’re in the States I’d call there one 800-number and figure out what the Hecks going on. Most of their prescriptions come with the tret, Niacinamide and one or two other things depending on your issues. Good luck to you.
