Andrew, time to get Mama a freeze dryer. You can have eggs for YEARS. I know they are expensive, but you have to know you are worth it! Now, let us know that Marian is well! 😊
Oh you’re right! I use a calcium supplement on my tomato bushes but haven’t even thought about egg shells 🙄. Oh my! I’ll make sure Andrew sees the first part of this message. I’ve been telling him the same thing, lol. Thanks for checking on me. I have acquired diverticulitis and it really kicked my butt. Still healing from it but I’m getting there. You’ll be seeing me this week. Or at least that’s the plan. 🤞 Hope you’re well!
You are right about the freeze dryer. It is on our list to get. And as for the tomatoes, that is a great idea, and lord knows our ‘maters need all the help they can get!
@@SimplyMadeHomestead I need some mater help..lol I have over 100 out in the driveway that need their new homes ASAP. The BIG question is and has been. WHERE? It's hurricane season and, I have lost so many to storms, I really want to do everything I can this round to finally get a harvest. I keep plugging away and have yet to fill my cupboards. I will NOT give up..lol
You and me both! As for hurricanes, we just have to take our chances but I do recommend planting them somewhere that they’ll receive shade in the late afternoon to protect them from the harsh sun. Bean walls, sunflowers, and corn patches work great.
The shells are super thin but the membrane is very strong. The ONLY way to access quail eggs are with egg scissors. I do several hundred each month and it’s a huge time saver and no egg shells in your eggs.
I had to pop back in and give you two a tomato update..WOW, have I been doing it WRONG! 😂 First, I never really payed much attention to grow what is best for you. I like certain varieties, and that is what I have continued to try and grow. But my sucess rate has been miserable..UNTIL now! I started, Tachi, Redsnapper, Homestead, and Fl91's on August 8th. They all got the exact same soil, nutrients and let me tell ya..The Homesteads, are 1st, the Fl 91's are a close 2nd the the Red Snapper are 2 shakes behind all of them. But, they ALL got moved to their permanent grow bags, today. They all have their 3rd set of leaves showing. I am IMPRESSED by these guys. The Tachi's..yeah, they just got planted to their second home today. It might be a couple more weeks before they get to go into the screen room. But, if you haven't tried any of these, I got them from Hoss' . You know the place..lol
I do know the place and I am going to order some today for spring. I used up seeds I had this fall but I’ve been wondering about the homesteader and the FL 91’s. Thank you so much for sharing that info. Tomatoes is certainly a challenge around here.
@@SimplyMadeHomestead Awesome! I'm not giving up on the Tachi's, yet. They are a Roma, paste type tomato. They still have time to grow, here, for us. But, they may need a different weather. Greg ( Hoss Tools) grows them in the spring, in Ga. I'm thinking now, that I will try doing my canning tomaotes, in the fall, and just do the paste tomatoes in the spring. Between the 2 of us, we should be able to work this out for the Central Fl folks.. 😂 OR they already have it worked out and are not telling us! 🤣
@@k.p.1139 yes, that could be the case. But I think between the two of us we’ll get it. I’m planting a bunch of Amish Paste. So far I’m not impressed but I’m hoping once I get them in the ground on a drip tape they may decide to show out. Hoping anyway.
@@SimplyMadeHomestead I tried Amish paste a couple of times, and never had any success with them. I found a place in Tampa, Whitwam Organics that sells heirloom determinate Roma's. I ordered 8 plants. I'm going to give those a try, and see between those and the Tachi's which one does best. Hey, maybe they both will and I will have sauce coming out my ears..lol
By law in Florida, there is a certain method for washing eggs that are meant for human consumption. Or at least eggs that are going to be sold to the public.

OH and, don't forget to save some of those shells, for the tomatoes 😀

Good advise and very true. Thank you for watching and for sharing.

I knew a farmer that cracked then froze her extra chicken eggs to eat later.
We’ve done that with our chicken eggs but Andrew loves them pickles so there’s never any extra for freezing.
How much does a egg cost when u sale?
For eating or hatching? Chicken or quail?
Why would you wash the eggs differently for human consumption?
By law in Florida, there is a certain method for washing eggs that are meant for human consumption. Or at least eggs that are going to be sold to the public.
Is this form of cannibalism acceptable? 🤔😂
Raw eggs are a super food man... your wasting good clean food for the family
