If you start with cold water and slowly bring the eggs to a boil while stirring, the yolks will stay centered in the egg and the whites will be less likely to tear while peeling. The eggs only require 3 minutes to boil properly after coming to a rolling boil. If you have the time, you can "peel" the eggs by covering them totally with white vinegar overnight. The only part of the shell left at that point will be the membrane, which prevents the egg from acquiring the vinegar taste. To remove the membrane, pinch the egg at the large end. The membrane will tear and will come right off.

Looking good. I shake my boild quaileggs in a jar with a little bit of water so the shells crack and water seeps inside the shells. Then its 100 times easyer to peel them.
We have curturnix and celadon too. Not jumbo tho, just normal size. Hugs from sweden

I also love the shake-the-eggs-in-a-jar method of peeling quail eggs. They're so little you can get several in a jar at once (leave space for them to bounce around) and take off loads of time for that task!

Maybe I just need to try another flavor or some homemade pickled eggs. I bought some from the store and they just tasted like mildly spicy vinegar. I was super disappointed because the TH-camrs that I follow make them look and sound great-- not their fault, cause their home made pickled eggs looked totally different. Other flavors like dill, onion, or jalapeno sound great.
I was disappointed with the store pickled eggs, but this video is encouraging me to maybe just make my own. Haha

I just recently learned that with farm fresh eggs you should steam them, they peel like a dream. I use a specific sized metal colander the fits down in a pan with a tight fitting lid (so I don’t boil dry during cooking). Cook 15mins once water boils, for a doz. Chicken eggs. Then ice bath for the same time. Really does work.

I have found the best way for boiled quail eggs are steaming them! So fast and they peel sooo easy!

Pickled eggs are my 11 yr old son favorite snack. I make them all the time. I often use our ameracauna eggs since they are small. I use the steaming method so they peel easy

Instant Pot, for me, makes the eggs peel perfectly. I've never had "luck" with them otherwise.
    Chicken eggs:
5 or 6 mins cook in IP
5 or 6 mins left in IP, natural release
5 or 6 mins in cool water.
    Perfect
