    You should do an "update" video ... letting all of us know what became of each of your revivals, still owned, sold for a profit, drove into a ditch etc. Maybe a shop/ project update video once in a while too. Easy content to create and definitely something your loyal viewers would be interested in seeing!

    Neat truck, and deserving of a nice engine and trans. One thing’s for sure, that was the most unique burnout in the history of mankind. You American fellas are truly blessed with all your V8 engines and technology. Us Brits have missed out on that science. We had little 1.3, 1.6 engines to play with . You guys cant even imagine..1.8 and 2 litre engines are very popular here. Diesels have a turbo nowadays..keeps us economical. And now green energy hybrid cars are all the rage .

    This truck brings back some memories. My 2nd truck ( 1st one I ever drove ) was a 1972 F100 Ranger that was the same color scheme of that truck. I learned a whole lot about working on FE's while I owned that truck. Mine was a 390. I was 16/17 when I owned it.
    It looks like your truck has a carb off a 70 or 71. And three wheels off a late 80's-early 90's F150. And if it was an engine that you actually cared about it's not a bad idea, if you have the rocker shaft off. Pull the push rods and spray some brake cleaner thru them all to make sure they aren't plugged up. And then pour some ATF over the rocker shafts and valves before you throw the cover back on.
    Can't wait to see the swap. But it is kind of sad. A good FE has a great exhaust sound. At least you aren't throwing a ls in it!!

    I have a soft spot for these trucks. I remember riding in the middle with the underdash A/C just threatening to scalp my shins. Dad taught me to drive his 1967 long bed F100 Ranger with a 352 and a three speed column shift. I will never forget the looong reach to squish the pedals, the giant steering wheel, and the feeling that I was in zero control until that clutch pedal came off the floor and we were on our way. Hello From KY. Kevin & Mook, I always enjoy all of your Ford Truck videos; Especially the ones with the Inline 6 cylinder engines.
    Recently I purchased another 1985 F-150 Ford with a carbureted 300 with a NP435 transmission from a car dealer that had just parked the truck on the lot. The engine has the typical 300 peck from the lifters but otherwise you can’t hardly hear the engine running. My 1990 F-150 with the EFI 4.9/300 cid with a E4OD transmission is needing a starter replacement. This truck has the weird conditions in which the starter will stay engaged until the battery dies or the battery post is quickly as possible disconnected.
    Recently I was in route home in a torrential downpour in a neighboring town in which for no apparent reason the starter engaged as I was driving. I turned the key switch back and forth several times in which I think that the starter finally burned itself up. The amp gauge was just about completely over to the left on discharge until the starter finally gave up the ghost.
    As I made my way back home through the monsoon, The gauge gradually returned pretty much to normal and I was fortunate enough to get the truck back home with no further incident. I kind of took your advice and purchased one of the Pure Energy starters rather than pay full price for a parts store starter that may or may not fry itself like the OEM Motorcraft starter that was on the engine. Have you encountered this issue with any of your Fords and what did you do to resolve the issue. And yes, I ordered a OEM Motorcraft starter solenoid rather than the parts store solenoids that have been not very good. A friend of mine suggested that the starter switch located under the steering column may be going bad, So I ordered a OEM Motorcraft switch as well.
    In past years, I had a 1974 F-100 with the FE 360 engine in which the engine always ran decently but I never could find a 2 barrel carburetor that was exactly right for the engine. I finally sold the truck to someone that I knew who finally killed the truck. Thanks for all of your great videos.

    That portable tool kit looks like it has everything I got in my original craftsmen starter mechanics tools set back in 1972. By 1984 when I quit working as a mechanic to program computers, I had 2 roller cabinets and 2 top boxes full of metric and Imperial tools which I still have. I've come to the conclusion that you can never have enough tools.

    There's many reasons I like seeing older vehicles getting restored and cared for, but one major reason is because fixing them up helps bring back good times. This truck is old enough to have grandpa/grandma go cruisin' in like they used to when they were younger and the truck brand new. That's why I still drive a 1990 S10 to work, because it helps to get away from all the technology and complexity of everything these days. Simple to work on, and power to boot, these old rides just shouldn't die.

    What I Call When An Old Pickup Starts Up For The First Time In Years: History

  • @robertclark2714
    @robertclark2714 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 67 F600. The engine is a 330 FT but it is very similar in most aspects to an FE engine. These engines were machined and assembled without exhaust manifold gaskets. Over time the exhaust manifolds start to leak and get loud. The mounting bolts usually break off whenever you try to remove them in order to fix exhaust leaks. Some exhaust manifolds crack and break. They are hard to find and replace. The broke off bolts are usually why they get parked and never driven again.

    Check the PCV valve. Replace it and the hose. Make sure you get the right hoses. My dad rebuilt an engine in an old truck, but did not replace the pcv valve and it was sucking oil up into the carburetor. Smoked like the old tar kettles they used on the road for warning. Through his disgust, he gave it to me( I was 14) and said I could drive it fishing. I noticed oil on the hose and replaced them both. Let’s just say dad was an Indian giver.
