@@Mikemic2218 Have you actually watched them? They're as close to perfect as you're ever going to get, even if Disney decides to release their own version of the theatrical releases (Spoiler: they won't)
August 29th 1995. And I still remember first getting this VHS set. The interviews with George Lucas from Leonard Maltin were a good way to start each tape before going into each movie.
I think they might do it when George Lucas passes away because that is kind of a touchy subject for him and I have a feeling if they do it now things will get very heated that's just what I believe
Which vhs release of the theatrical versions the best ? I think I'm leading towards the 1995 release since that was the versions i had as a kid on vhs. But which release is the best ?
@richardbowler405 why not convert them to digital or dvd then ? Then they will last forever. I converted mine to digital mp4 files so i can watch them anytime with modern devices. Vhs won't last forever even when your not using them they still degrade
Disney never claims when something goes into the Vault that it's gone forever. With this they were making it pretty clear that these versions would never be released again.
I got this for my 11th birthday and this is how I saw Star Wars for the first time. It was great, after I watched Return of the Jedi that was it, no more Star Wars lmao it was perfect.
This was the first of many multiple copies of Star Wars I would and am glad to say I still have them. The cases are pretty beat though and the tapes were played lord knows how many times. Still good to have though.
Remastering is just enhancing the picture and sound, which is what these actually are. What George Lucas did afterward is full on revisionism and should not be confused with the process of remastering.
Too bad VHS has such a bad shelf life. I saw a copy of this release of TESB and you couldn't see shit on Hoth. Thankfully we have the Special Editions now.
"Before it's gone forever" I think they were a lot more accurate with that than they intended when recording that voice over.
Craig Bickerstaff They were not lying
If you want the theatrical versions in HD, just get the Despecialized Editions on the PirateBay
@@Eisenbison still not the same.

@@Eisenbison yeah and thats why i keep my vhs ones. The ones advertised in 95.

You were right.
I use to fast foward those interviews as a kid lol i just wanted to watch the damn movie lol
People in 1995: “Hahahaha, what a good marketing slogan!”
People 30 or so years later: *”Even with Disney having Fox, they weren’t fucking kidding…”*
Remember this.

THX version was digitally remastered this picture.
Same goes for the 1993 Laserdisc.
He wasn't lying
I bought all 3 original VHS CBS FOX videos from Blockbuster in early 1991 around 19.99 each.
I have these tapes. Unfortunately, they're all broken.
Oooooih my god can i buy them. And how broken?
I got them off of Amazon years ago
Still have mine from 1995. And yes, they still work.

I’ve got the all 3 of them in good condition
Same i watch them only once a year to make them last

The Star Wars Trilogy On VHS! Get It Before It's Gone! May The Force Be With You!
0:01 2020: ONE LAST TIME! He wasn't lying lol
I got all three of them on VHS as a gift from my sister and her husband
Glad I saw this VHS set at my local Antiques store in Cleveland, Tn, and still have it by the time I was going to see how much it's worth on eBay!
Did the people behind-the-scenes know what Lucas was planning, or was the announcer just using a Disney Vault tactic?
Yes

I was born 2005 so I couldn't buy that but now I have the complete saga on blu ray
@Trey Stephensok but I have only a playstation 4 and a tv 😂👍
I wish they brought VHS back
Same
They kinda made a comeback with Bumblebee and Stranger Things.
That'd be cool, but the company that made VCR/DVD combos went under recently, so there's nobody even making VCRs anymore to watch VHS tapes on.
The person was making ads was warning us
Of course.
I used to have this set on VHS
It really was the last time.
This Audience is now listening to the force.
With the help of THX.

Oh look, the THX logo is embossed into star wars footage.
Is this rare by any chance?
I'm sure a lot of old people still keep these tapes.
