    "A totally forgot my car is broken" - ja ja, those BMWs are a gems.
    On a side note, I remember when the 86 came out and wanted one so bad, but when I heard it had a flat four, hell no.
    As long as you are happy with the car, thats all that matters.

      Hey man don’t be too worried about it. It’s not super common with your FA20 motor but definitely should hold off on hardish driving/track days until you get 1. An oil baffle kit, 2. An oil cooler, 3. Change your oil to maybe 5w-30 to increase the protection? Not too sure about the last one you should do some of your own research about the oil starvation. There’s plenty of solutions and ways to prevent it.

      Your car is super capable you just need a few mods before you push your car to its max. Unfortunately Drey didn’t take the time to research and upgrade before pushing the car. 👍

      Ok that’s good I’m probably not planning on pushing it to hard I’m just using it as my everyday driver. Thanks for the info

    This is the automobile version of why pharma and med device regulations exist.

    Toyota just needs to ditch the Subaru Boxers already. Too many cases of this happening and tarnishing the brand.

      I've seen so many of them for sale because of a blown engine. Rarely its anything other than a blown engine.

    What are some good alternatives to the GT86 for one car thats a daily and track car? especially if I want to race it (other than the S2K)

      Civics or integras but if you want rwd then a 350z or 335i

      I second Civics and Integras. Not a ton of low cost options if you want rear wheel drive these days. The Miata would be my vote for inexpensive rwd. Super reliable but it’s not very practical. Used Mustang GTs and Camaros might be a good option if you can spend a little more and want more power. Ideally with track options, like the Ford performance pack or 1LE package. Higher running costs and weight is the trade off. You might also check out a used BMW 228i manual, 135i, or m240i. Great daily drivers and still solid performers. Lots of tuning options for the 135i and m240i too if you don’t mind voiding any used dealer warranty you might be able to get. Trade off is the maintenance is expensive and you’ll need a second job if something major breaks.

      All these guys above recommending N54/N55 for track duty are uneducated. You wanna go old BMW you stay N/A even then its a pain in the a$$ B58/S58 ftw though. You can get a brand new Miata for $27k 0.9% interest if you must have new also 24 Elantra N. Everything else is expensive(1LE, Supra, M2, Type R/Type S, ect). Used E36 M3 is a great affordable fast option with all the good feels modified. Have more $ can get a (E46/E90 M3, Cayman S, Lotus Elise, C6/C7 Corvette, ect)

    Few questions: What oil weight are you using? Does the car have an oil cooler?

    • @andrepayawal
      @andrepayawal  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used stock 0w-20 and no oil cooler. I have plenty of track friends that have the zn6 chassis and most ran the same setup and had no issues what so ever. This made me think i was safe sticking with the stock setup but ig not. Def gonna be more prepared next time tho with a thicker oil weight and oil cooler!

      oil cooler and 5 w 40 oil.
      unlucky, this shit happens bro.

    • @VinRZ
      @VinRZ ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dreyotaa not necessarily. Running low in oil pressure can compound damage onto your bearings. It could be fine with your friends, but they don't have a scientific method to prove that they are "fine".
      Not saying running 20psi nominal oil pressure won't lubricate your engine. But you have a really small window of margin of error vs 60psi.
      Our bearings have enough clearance to run low 40 weight or high 30 weight.
      It sucks that your engine blew up, but I wouldn't necessarily blame subaru first.

      Live and learn. FA engines can be reliable if you use the right formula

      I agree. Just wish I knew beforehand and switched the oil weight.
