- Half way through doing the Harmonic Tremolo shootout for these pedals I noticed all of them have the ability to do standard volume modulated tremolo as well, so I included a shootout of that as well. Enjoy! Video is heavily time stamped so you can jump around to whatever you are interested in.

I own the Delta II and I really like the Lag knob that let you blend between harmonic and standard tremolo.
This is a great effort. Thanks for doing this!
Timestamps are in the description for jumping around. Everything after 27:02 is standard volume modulation. Everything before that is Harmonic Tremolo.
Excellent and very thorough comparison! Thank you for making this video.
Thank you for the effort you put into this very cool.
I watched this quite a lot at this point! :D My 2-cents:
- The one I like less, by far, is the Delta.
- In pure sound quality, the Strymon and Supro seem a bit above the rest. Cons: the Supro is more limited in range of sounds, and the Strymon costs twice as much as the others (plus it takes more board space).
- The Twin Peaks is clearly the one with more sound diversity, perfect for exploring uncharted territories. But it's also out of production (for now?), and is a big one too.
- The Monument and Monk are in the same ballpark, but the Monument sounds better to me, the Monk seems to break up faster and produce unusable sounds.
So, for me it would be between the Twin Peaks if I could get my hands on one, or the Monument (also, cool look and normal pedal size).
Hooray! Good job.
Great comparison! They all sound pretty great but I think this confirms that I'll stick with my Flint. I love that pedal.
As someone so similarly deep into the “trem hole” and in possession of the very same assortment demoed here, I applaud the effort man. I can barely find the time/energy to a/b two or three at a time let alone commit to the logistics of properly sampling the entire harmonic cream of the crop.
Also, The Delta has definitely been the new shiny object lately but I have a feeling it very well may put a few previously heavy hitters to rest at last.
Hey mate how does the Delta compare to the Twin Peaks? Do you find the envelope speed control of the Twin peaks useful at all?
I honestly haven't been excited by anything put out by Spaceman so far.On line, new things get prematurely hyped ,but are soon forgotten.
As has happened, a couple years later.
In a harmonic mode Walrus is more vibe-ish sound, Twin Peaks - more like a phaser.
Supro and Jam - very natural. The best in my opinion.
Thanks
Riff reminded me of Songs Ohia haha. Your channel rules dude!
And a bit of Stairway 😂
Secret, the best harmonic trem/vibrato I've heard is the cheap MXR Uni Vibe in red "Vibe" mode... I've tried so many, it's really balanced. Sounds like a magnavibe without the boomy bass, I had the magnavibe and sold it...
These are all REALLY great pedals. It’s interesting the subtle variations between them? I have seriously considered all them, and went with the Flint.
Side by side, I could totally see why another pedal could have been more “right”, but the Flint is my favorite pedal on my board…after my Fuzz collection!
Yea, it amazes me. I've owned over 100 tremolo pedals and I can't point to any that sound exactly alike. All are different. Also, I like different ones for different contexts. Most are quite excellent, just different from one another.
Cool, what one is your personal favourite?
Twin Peaks has been my favorite for years now. All are killer though.
@@TriPedalReviews that's not a surprise...have you played the Malekko Goatkeeper 2? Seems to nip at the heels of the Twin Peaks for versatility. Also, the Caroline Parabola has a similar sounding preamp to the Twin Peaks.
Great video!
+1 for Spaceman Effects Delta II. For more options the Drolo Twin Peaks.
I'm not sure how many times i have watched this vid. Love the starting riff. I need some help if you can. I have a vox ac15 with tremolo and i have CTC Killer V. I was thinking between supa trem jr and the monk. What would you choose? I want a good sounding quiet tremolo. Harmonic i would use. Can monk do a square chop?
So the Fulltone wont do Harmonic Tremolo. It will do great smooth and choppy volume tremolo. The Harmonious Monk wont do as good with choppy tremolo as the Fulltone will. But it has the option of harmonic tremolo. The Harmonious monk is the Throbbiest harmonic tremolo I've heard. Running either one, you'll be giving up something. I personally run the Swindler Effects Red Mountain Tremolo. I set the live setting to do sine wave tremolo (which i can run either standard volume or harmonic) then i set my one accessible preset up to be choppy volume trem. That's worked out well for me thus far. I did do a dedicated demo of the Harmonious Monk if you want to hear some more of that one.
@@TriPedalReviews thanks for your help! I have seen every video shootout or review you did and it helped a lot. I've ordered the Monk, i have found a discounted one and i'll give it a try(apart from that i really like to try harmonic - sounds amazing). Red Mountain is really hard to find in EU.
Most amp like out of all of these and also can do both?
I’ve been watching a lot of your shootouts recently, they’re great!
I have an EQD Night Wire I’ve noticed you don’t include it - have you tried it?
I’ve gotten into Jam pedals recently hence started looking at the Harmonious Monk, but the Supro seems cool too.
I’d like something more transparent than the EQD I think I don’t need the filtering so much.
Hey Jonny, I have tried it. I wasn't personally a fan of it as a harmonic tremolo. EQD kinda do their own thing and they have unique ideas and philosophies. IMO Nightwire is a cool pedal, sounds great, just not my preference for harmonic trem. However, I'd still like to include it in shootouts in the future, because I think it'd be good for people to hear the difference. However I don't currently have it atm, so it'll be a bit before I pick it up again. I got rid of it in the past to fund other gear. I don't think you go wrong with either Supro or the Monk. But be aware that you may need to tweak the Monk EQ to your preference (trim pots inside) and Supro will change your base tone a bit. Both IMO are killer though.
@@TriPedalReviews ahh cool thanks for the reply. Yeh I’ve gone off EQD a bit, sold the Ghost Echo for the Surfybear Compact and will probably shift the Night Wire and go more traditional there too if that’s the word. Will keep the Palisades and the Afterneath which is pretty interesting.
Entry into Jam was the Ripply Fall and the Rattler - absolutely love both!
@@jonnyedykes I'm a big fan of the Transmisser from EQD :) Interested in trying the Ghost Echo some day!
I'm partial to the Twin Peaks because of theme, and it seems to offer way more tonal possibilities than most. But for the more classic harmonic tremolo sounds, it doesn't seem to have the same tone quality as some others, does it?
I don't find any issue with the quality myself. Having tried like 90% of the trems on the market, I would say that every Trem has a unique sound to it. Especially for Harmonic Trem. Twin Peaks is unique in that it offers a tone knob, which is part of the magic of the pedal and what can take it from dull sounding to brilliant with slight adjustments. The only trem in this particular shootout I have a slight issue with is the Delta II, because the resonance to me makes it sound a bit off from classic stuff. Not a huge deal, but something to consider when looking at options.
Dude, what was that first song you played? I love it so much!
Just me messing around haha. Glad you liked it though!
@@TriPedalReviews yeah there’s something quite beautiful about it. I’m going to have to figure it out on the weekend. :)
@@BaronsDuju General vicinity, I have a capo on the 4rth fret, then I switch between a C chord with an open B string (IE not your finger on the 1st fret, just the A and D chord fretted) and an Em shape. Just picking various parts of those 2 chords. Then I played a lead line overtop of that.
@@TriPedalReviews Thanks for the tip
AND the awesome comparison vids. Weirdly, the Harmonious Monk doesn’t sound very good on this vid, but you have another where it actually does seem to come out on top.
@@BaronsDuju Harmonious Monk is a strange one IMO. It's almost like it was designed to be more Univibe like. It has the most throb of any harmonic trem, and it's very much tuned for slower speeds. The range of Medium/fast speeds is on the far end of the knob and it is very hard to dial in that range. It's a complete PITA trying to match its speed to other Trems. Still sounds good though.
Is there a trem that does harmonic and choppy?
Lots actually. I just typically don't show off the harmonic choppy side. Just in this video, the Walrus Monument, Twin Peaks and Jam Pedals will all do choppy. Flower Pedals Dandilion will as well. Pretty much any pedal that does a square wave in addition to the harmonic trem.
@@TriPedalReviews Thanks so much! Glad to subscribe and look forward to diving in to more tremolos
@@silkyb9869 No problem! If you ever have any questions feel free to ask.
Flint!
the FLINT hands down for usable sounds.
