Thats hwhat im doing at 59 with no barre´ anymore finger issues: dropping selected Jazzy notes into the abyss, or the looper...dont know hwich ones worse....
Dont worry about it brother- this is what rock and roll has turned into- It is a bunch of middle aged men whose wallets and disposable income have long since outgrown their passion for actually making music and playing. Fingers press computer keys instead of frets and buying forums/gear reviews have replaced "favorite record/band" discussions. We are now 2 generations removed from anyone who gave a toss about the guitar (by my calculations it died when the last of the gen-x'ers hit 30) and "rock stars" have been reduced to shills for gear and concerts have turned into these "workshops sponsored by" -ya know, basically the lowest circles of hell. It had a long run, one cannot really complain in the end- i mean; what other trend/fashion/taste lasted as long?
Greg Koch...pretty much a guitar two sets of fingers a pick an Amp(albeit his Koch sig amp has some pretty serious overdrive). But then how cool are these pedals! Julia took some time to raise to her level(sink to her depths). The Ages 5 stage is such a useful drive. It plays so well with other pedals and volume. Both of those are in either rotation or always on. So just have fun Tony!
Hahaha 😄 well to be fair, I have never had so much pleasure playing guitar since I discovered and watched hours of pedal, amps, gears etc videos on TH-cam. I spent years playing songs, scales but never focusing on tones. Understanding something like impulse responses, the importance of how the voicing of pedals interact with the voicing of amps, man this change a lot. Good gear will never ruin good fingers but the wrong gear would definitely ruin the greatest fingers. What always makes me want to pick my guitar and play is the pleasure of a great sound coming to my ears. The pleasant the sound is, the more I want to play.
I've only gone heavily into shaping my sound with pedals this year after decades of playing, and Walrus was one of the first brands that made me consider that there was a lot more to be had than a Tubescreamer, Carbon Copy and Phase 90. I've got Lillian, Julia, and Fathom on my board, all three are great.
Walrus has become my favorite boutique pedal brand. Their pedal sounds and features are so unique but still so musically usable. A lot of pedal makers are coming up with these sounds that are fun to mess with but are completely unusable in a song but Walrus sounds are so beautiful and usable.
I’m watching this again today as a “playing next video” video in mid lock down It’s so nice to see people close together, nearly touching, steady tiger, laughing and talking and most importantly at ease with each other. Dare I say it, I miss that, I miss the day to day interaction and more so the musicianship banter, nods and winks. Aaaahhhh
I am enamored with this line of pedals. They are all so interesting and rather different than most everything that is out on the market. I bought the Monument V2 after watching the harmonic tremolo episode and have used it nearly every time I have played recently. I have gone though many pedals over the years and never a tremolo! I really appreciate these manufacture episodes. I always learn so much new information. Thanks you guys!
Walrus Audio, these guys make awesome pedals. The Julia is a fantastic pedal. That pedal has never left my board. I’m ready to pull the trigger on the Lillian. Like I need another pedal but it’s going to be my soon. TPS you guys are awesome as always. Thanks for another great Friday morning.

I love that 385 pedal. It sounds great. I've seen a number of old film projector amps, and I think it's really great that Walrus is trying to bring that aesthetic to pedals. When Colt jumps on the 385 and Slo at 1:14:00, that's my kind of music. Probably not a surprise that BRMC is in my iPod. I don't know that I'd call them "post-rock"; they sound like a natural progression from The Jesus & Mary Chain, to me.

Had a rough day today but now I am watching TPS with a Tele in my hands and a beer on the amp and live is good. Love the Walrus Audio 385 Overdrive and the Supro sound great. Thanks guys.
I first heard about these film projector amps at an interview with Blake Mills. Later I saw Tim Pierce using one but I was flashed when I looked through the auction catalouge for the estate of Walter Becker (may he rest in peace). Besides the crazy number of guitars, basses, amps and effects there were at least 10 or more of these film projector amps up for auction.
Just got my slotva and have to say nice job and well done to everyone at tps and walrus audio. This pedal is my now go to for reverb. I pair it with a cloak from catalinbread. Cheers❤
Thanks for this episode, mates. I've a much clearer understanding of Walrus Audio now, and might maybe just might add the 385 and Slo to my signal chain.
it’s interesting to me how, without me aiming for this in any way, the two overdrive/distortion sounds i’ve been most enamored with lately have been based off non-guitar-based overdrive sounds. The 385 (which sounds INCREDIBLE in this episode btw), and then this thing called the “Hammond’s Organs” from farm pedals, which is based around some sounds he found messing around with parts from old transistor organs. I love a screamer and breaker sounds as much as the next guy, but i’m glad there’s builders looking elsewhere for inspiration.

Jason sounds just like John C Reilly. I kept waiting on something like “I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party.”
The ARP 87 is absolutely one of my most favorite pedals of all time. Especially the Lo-Fi mode... which unfortunately I don't see showcased that much in WA demo's. The Lillian was already on my 'must buy' list, but now the Slo, 385 and EB 10 are on that list as well.
@@thjamaica09 The Piledriver, which is kinda an odd choice, since I'm normally low, to medium, output PU. But the sound bits I have heard sounded so awesome 😁
I love the simple preset idea of that EB 10. All pedals should have that functionality. Think about how many pedals have great tweak ability- but what do you do- set it to one sound and leave it there forever- not able to make a variety of use out of one pedal. With this switch you can still have an analog pedal but get three times the functionality. I know other pedals have this idea of dig controlled pots, but this one really makes it simple- without multiple switches or menus etc. Love it!
I just realized that Walrus Audio is, by purchase vote, my favorite pedal mfg. I have an ARP-87, a Lillian, an Iron horse and I love, love, love my 385. I like to run my Cali76 in the front ( of the 385) to add a touch of compression....then it's like an un-woofy fuzz with bite!
Had the ARP, Iron Horse V1, currently have the 385 on my board. Not a bad sound to be found in any of them. And they seem like great lads too. Well played Walruses. Fun episode.
I am such a nerd that I make a Powerpoint slide, actually a SERIES of Powerpoint slides, showing all of my pedals, their function, and my highly subjective grade for each. Walrus Audio gets the highest grades: ARP-87 A+, Polychrome A+, Warhorn A+, Ages A. No other manufacturer gets close. Electro-Harmonix has an A+ pedal (the Oceans 11 Reverb). Boss has a single A+ (RE-202 Space Echo). JHS gets ONE A+ (Colour Box Pre-amp). No one else has even a single A+/ Walrus has an A+ AVERAGE. Well done, fellows.

Great Episode! You guys can make life hard :). I was leaning towards a Julia a few months ago (via a TH-cam Chorus comparison). This Episodes makes the decision easy for the 2nd pedalboard (my 1st board is a Boss only board because I'm a old man and grew up with Boss). The Julia is just a stunning chorus with a great full tone but not muddy at all. While writing this comment I'm still looking at the show at 45 minutes so have to watch the rest of the content. Great Show as Always Dan and Mick!!!
Great show again guys, thanks 🤙could I out forward a suggestion for a show, please? All your shows usually feature pedals running into the £££. Could you consider a show with a board of pedals under £100? Appreciate it might not be taken seriously, but would love to see a show where I could afford to buy a pedal based on the info and review TPS gives
I love the Julia but had to sell it because it didn't have a tone control (to shave off some of that high end). Got a Warped Vinyl HiFi instead but still miss the Julia. It would also be nice that both pedals would add a volume control in other future versions. Cheers.
Al S agreed. A volume knob would be awesome. The Julia boosts a tiny bit. I run mine pre-drives now to tame that a bit. The Walrus guys offers to mod it for me to be unity but I just got used to it. It wouldn’t be too hard to mod it with a volume. Hmmmm
The Vib half of the old Vox Vib/Trem channel, found in original AC15s and AC30s, is warbling out for re-creation in a pedal. It’s got a great water-y sound, not exactly like Fender’s harmonic trem but related. The only drawback to it in the amps is the three-way speed setting: fast, faster and blur. A pedal could offer slower speeds.
Man......if you guys can design a STEREO VIBE PEDAL with a blend control option on the toe down and just normal vibe otherwise...........ALL SOWN UP!!!!!!!!! That was a freebie Walrus and Dan !
Epic episode. Why havent Walrus considered adding Expression pedal capabilities to their pedals? You made each pedal sound delicious and produce more G.A.S. to the world. I had the Iron Horse, great pedal, just not for me. I had dismissed Walrus due to believing that they were making pedals that didnt bond to my sonic preferences. Well now I am gassing for the SLO I have never wanted escape sounds before! Long live The Pedal Show for showing all the great sounding pedals in the Universe.
i thought that was an EOB strat - after the age of 63 I bought a very cheap squier - but then I lately bigged up and bought the EOB - maybe i should have explained that i've been playing acoustic guitar then bass for decades - maybe there should be a rule where you do don't let a bassist play electric show - anyway - i love your show and how amazing are walrus audio ( they look like children to me but are awesomely clever)

Cheers guys, ace episode. :))
Well now I am gassing for the SLO
I have never wanted escape sounds before! Long live The Pedal Show for showing all the great sounding pedals in the Universe.
Just purchased the neon pink Julia :)
Three minutes in. Already LOVING it. Hahaha, laughing my ass off. "432Hz tuned modern orchestral triangle with striking device" :'D haha!
The Julia has become one of the worship guitar staples recently.
i thought that was an EOB strat - after the age of 63 I bought a very cheap squier - but then I lately bigged up and bought the EOB - maybe i should have explained that i've been playing acoustic guitar then bass for decades - maybe there should be a rule where you do don't let a bassist play electric show - anyway - i love your show and how amazing are walrus audio ( they look like children to me but are awesomely clever)
I love Mick’s stool 😍
Most expensive stool I’ve ever bought.
Very informative! Many thanks 👍
Ha ha the look on Mick's face every time Colt played
Now i just want to play through Walrus pedals exclusively.
But only if I could actually play like Mick or Dan or Blake Mills or Joey Landreth or....
