After all this time of owning one, I finally watched a video long enough to learn about the extra modes, which I knew about, sort of, but never dug into. I'm digging in today. Thanks for another fantastic demo!

I love the captions at 15:35. "[Foreign Music]" & "[Laughter]". I'm guessing the depth on the trem is throwing off TH-cam. Heh heh

When the drums kick in on the opening jam it’s magnificent. Love this sound man.

Spaceman pedals are awesome, I have the Aurora and it does so much more than traditional flanger stuff. The EQD Nightwire is a harmonic trem that's also very versatile. Along the same lines, it can do slow moving filtering, phaser, etc.

That stuff you play during the lag and response section is absolute magic! What a beautiful trem!

Is it hissy? Lets say compared to the Boss TR-2, (the original hissy fit trem)

Hi Mark, big fan of your work!
I have a question for you if you have the time: how do you go about syncing your videos with the audio? I'm beginning to dive into recording myself and find your style really entertaining to look at. However when I have filmed all my takes and then edit/mix the song, it becomes a nightmare to sync with the video. Also just remembering exactly on which take i played the part that ended up in the final version.
Anyways I was just thinking you might have a sneaky trick up your sleeve. Anyways, great video as always, really nice work!

I record all my takes with my studio monitors on and running click (easy because I record direct so there’s no mic bleed). I start almost every take from the beginning of the session so I just have to find that hard clicked “1” in every video take and align them to the start of the song file

@@markjohnstonofficial thank you for sharing this! Also big fan of your work here :)

@@markjohnstonofficial Thanks for the response, and that makes so much sense to do it like that. I have no monitors (apartment living) but also record direct so I should have the option to try it out. I guess I have just recorded the part being played, because that's also how I usually record. But if every take has the same starting point, then I can see how it becomes easier.
Your knowledge on pedals and using them as instruments in their own right to create a musical tapestry of textures and depth is admirable.
Thanks for sharing you're knowledge, it's highly appreciated!

So what I used to do, way back in the day when I was always recording headphones only, was to include a strike at the top of the piece; basically I would bypass my wet effects and strike dead strings on the 1 of the first measure for every take (so they all lined up) and then basically turned everything back on and started the actual arrangement on like the fourth measure or whatever. It's a bit of a hassle but hitting the dead strings will show up on camera audio and your recorded audio as a clap sync, basically. *but* I would recommend, even if you are using headphones, to buy like the cheapest little monitor on amazon just to have *something* playing click/monitoring even at super low volumes for the camera to pick up.

First half of the video I didn’t get it…. Then once you started messing with the dry, high and low, I started searching for one to buy. Lol

That’s where the magic is. It’s a totally solid harmonic trem but man once you get that speed really slow and start fine tuning what frequencies drift back and forth it becomes something magical.

    Delta II or Sunflower?

    • @markhamburg5535
      @markhamburg5535 ปีที่แล้ว

Watching the videos back to back, I think the answer is that if looking for stereo, harmonic TREMOLO textures, the Sunflower wins but if you want a modulated filter that can pretend to be a tremolo, the Delta II is the choice. I own neither at this point though I do own multiple Spaceman pedals.
