I was between this and the Tamron 11-20 f2.8. I chose the Tamron. It's more expensive and lets in less light but the zoom makes it very versatile. I use it for real estate photography and when taking photos of buildings from the outside that adjustable focal length comes in real handy

I tested the Sony 11mm for hand held vlogging and its good, but I'd like the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 better! Is the equivalent 20mm still usable for vlogging without having to stretch out your arm?

I like this lens, I have this one, but the sony zve10 crop to much on active stablization even on 4k make it not 4k anymore, but it still a good combo, compact for travel
I really like it on a the crane m2s gimbal - that way - no crop!!

If you have the budget for only 1 lens for ZV E10, would you suggest the sigma 16 mm or the Sony 11 mm. I'm pretty confused between the two. I mostly do talking heads in my home studio along with occasional outdoor vlogging. Please suggest?
do the Sigma 16. it’s better for the studio (not too wide and a nice blurry background). for the occasional vlog, you can use an extendable mini tripod / selfie stick

I used an nd filter yes. the 55mm variable nd from K&F Concept. I shot at f1.8 and graded with the phantom LUTS. I have a link in the description

for daily vlogging the active stabilization or with a gimbal will save you all the time it takes to stabilize the footage in catalyst browse. I would try that first. of the footage doesn’t come out smooth enough, catalyst will be the answer

Really great lens. I own it. But while is really sharp is not nearly 'optical perfect'. It is very distorted and relies heavily on dirstortion compensation. Thats why is so tiny and so good in all other parameters. It's because it has awful geometry distortion. But it's completely fixed by camera software.
Do you guys shoot 4k 30 or 4k 24? There is a slight crop with 4k30 fps.
What would you recommend as a zoom instead of prime? Also, what about 3rd party primes lens?
I would recommend the Tamron 11-20 f2.8 if you want a zoom. The best 3rd party prime is the Viltorx 13mm f1.4 - but it is a much bigger lens

ha - I actually recommend the same lens. the sony 11 can be used with clear image zoom and works great. I did a video on it. but if you want a full frame lens as where you don’t have to use clear image zoom - check out the viltrox 16mm 1.8 - it is much bigger and heavier though amzn.to/3X0A6yp

Hey Mark, do you think the 11mm f1.8 is better than the 10-18mm f4 OSS for vlogging?
if you don't plan to use catalyst browse or a gimbal and you are not in a lowlight situation, the 10-18 will be good. You won't get much background "blur" at f4 and it will not be good when in a darker environment
Hello Mark! I am building an overhead rig in my office. I am limited with vertical space due to shelves over my desk, maybe 3 feet, maybe less, is what I have to work with. Let's say the ZV-E10 is mounted on a slider which is built into the bottom of the shelf, would this lens be able to capture and focus the desk below?

Can you review the samyang 12mm AF lens?
I have used the Samyang - but I generally don’t recommend it now that the Sony 11 is out. Optically is it not great - a lot of flare and ghosting, not that sharp and focuses a little slow. Now, if you want a small lightweight Vlogging lens only and don’t plan to take photos - the Samyang canon be an option on a budget. But just be aware of its limitations

When is the successor of zve10 coming out?
probably not for a while - sony usually waits about 4 years - this came out July 2021 - so it hasn't even been two. There will likely be some new apsc cameras though soon.

The Sony 11 can be good - but it is quite wide for the studio. I think the best studio lens for what you want is the Sigma 16mm 1.4 amzn.to/41MjCLa

I like this because you get more background blur and it’s better in lowlight. but if you’re shoring in the day and you don’t care much about background blur, the 10-20 is great

I put it on auto ISO but it over exspose my skin tones and so the highest level I'll put in on depending where I'm at is 400 ISO, but certain parts I'm vlogging at may be darker and need more light. So pretty much how can I not over exspose my skin tones but yet have enough brightnes for when it gets darker in unlit areas?

Problem with Catalyst Browse is it's a bastard for lower spec systems and is such a time consuming step for your workflow. The lack of IBIS is actually a serious reason to avoid the ZV-E10 and for that matter, Sony altogether. Just got two S5ii's having come over from a ZV-E10, FX30 and A7IV and life has improved significantly.
that ibis is a great feature. If you do a lot of handheld work without gimbals - the S5ii is a great idea, just don’t go too wide or you will notice wobble from the strong ibis. 20mm and up is the way to go
