- I recently spent some time with the legendary Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 - AKA "The Bigma". This rare lens is a 15.7kg beast and offers a bunch of ground breaking technology. But, what happens when you attach it to one of the world's smallest mirrorless cameras?

⛔ Watching this in a common area (where your mother+child wanders in) shouldn't have to come with a warning label. 👎
We recommend pastor Dustin Abbott’s fantastic channel for you folk👍
You watch lens reviews with your family?
You’re right. It shouldn’t. Which is why it doesn’t. You absolute jellified melt of a human.
brother chill
Are all the people around you really that sensitive to the concept of a penis? Or is that just you, Mike?
The humor of this video is spot on lmao
it's lame and sexist. shouldn't need a warning to your family that you're going to watch photo videos.
@@pbm___000 Maybe try to pull out that stick out of your ass sometimes.
@@pbm___000 womp womp
@@pbm___000 womp womp
It's definitely humour in this case
"are you an Instagram person?" Is the most British thing I've heard today.
Why?
"Hello we were just intreeeeeeegued!"
This video is like the glory days of Top Gear but for cameras. Well done!
For a British millennial, this is the highest form of praise. You are too kind!
You sir are James Hoffman of photography world
I had the same thought! James May would be proud
Is this DigitalRev TV??
The absurdity of this video gives me so much joy.
😅 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it Mark - hope you're keeping well mate
Came for the photography, stayed for the random roast from strangers 🤣😂
That video is so damn funny, didn't know you were a comedian like that, I would watch some more videos of this type mate
Thank you - glad you liked it! I wouldn't class myself as a comedian. I moron, maybe. 😅
"It's a wonder the kids ain't come up and tugged you"
"I'd get in trouble if that happened"
Lmaoooo
‘Its about how you use it’
-my 24-105 probably
My 18-50 probably
My 14mm pancake lens probably
Love the sense of humor, some camera TH-camrs take themselves far too seriously lol
is this a good travel lens? i’m going to japan in the autumn and need a nice pocketable setup!
Stick some wings to it and you could fly to Japan on it
Bring some large pockets!
Yea sure, unless you wear women's jeans
for nord Korea ....
I don’t think so but maybe
Street photography with the "Bigma" BRILLIANT!
That with the camera... is just fantastic 😂 the real benefit of micro four thirds
A match made in heaven 😅
I've been tempted to get a Pentax Q-series to fit onto my 150-450mm lens for similar ludicrous reasons (with a crop factor of 4.65 or 5.53 it should be able to get a cracking photo of a fly from half a mile)
"look sigma"
"I am the sigma"
I've heard that people would mounting this lens on the back of a pickup truck and drive around for "point and shoot"
If you were in the US you'd have a whole police dept and military helicopters reigning down on you.
Praised be Plato!
Such a wise man
The RPG joke had me laughing for a while 😂
BEST. VIDEO. EVER.
So I guessed right on the previous video when you asked what's in the box!!! Not many other lenses need that size of pelicase!
It doubles as a coffin. Great value.
@@TomCalton I aspire to achieve your levels of hilarity and wit. ♥
this video is the funniest thing i have watched today
The way people interacted with you and how you owned it is what made it.
All credit to the people of Stamford. Everyone saw the funny side of it and had a laugh ♥️
I'm waiting for the 1:1 macro version to use on my Sony A7R IV and A6600; handheld macro will be a cakewalk with IBIS.
Followed since last year. This is by far the best video you have made yet in this channel. Keep it up Tom!
"how hard could that be? " my forever quote.
Love the crop sensor + speed booster + teleconverter combo. That’s a very finely tuned level of magnification.
Love the townspeople’s reactions. Good vibes there
The people of Stamford are wonderful. Everyone was so nice
@@TomCalton If you tried to film something like this in a similar city in France you would have ended in jail for 24h.
@@TheBlackD For the next video perhaps?
@@TomCalton unfortunately the french police has lost its sense of humor a few decades ago. Keep up the good work though it was a very nice one
Loved the photos from the street.
It's like a bazooka or a rocket launcher.
Can't shoot from the hip with this monster.
Mount it on a D6, continuous 14 fps from the hip and imagine you're the terminator.
1:36 - The way the quick release isn't even tight had me bursting out laughing XD
the quality of this video is on another level! Great video, looking forward to your other videos!
This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time and I'm still smiling. Thank you for making this.
This whole video is so wholesome! You brought me much joy with this:))
OMG when you came out with your "cunning new disguise" I almost spit my coffee out! The humor throughout the video is wonderfully entertaining!
This is hilarious, I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Nice. Really enjoyed to see two beasts in the wild 😂😂
It's criminal to not have taken a selfie with this setup. Zero stars!
Fair evaluation
I just stumbled across your channel accidentally and subscribed... Your humor is spot on and had me grinning throughout, keep up the good work mate snd hooe your channel blows up! 😁
Welcome aboard my friend. Thank you for the kindness - your comment is appreciated more than you'll ever know 🤜🤛
I don't know why the photography community likes to use focal ratio to describe a aperture but I use my homemade telescope for daytime photography, it has a 127mm aperture and ~f5.5 focal ratio, yes it has enough focus travel to get close things.
Perfect setup for wedding photography...
...if one is not invited
I enjoyed the video so much! I liked the other youtube short where you showed it (and i believe there was another video about the lens) and this made me laugh. I loved the video so much and the jokes that you made. You're such a nice guy.
You're way too kind! But thank you - glad you enjoyed the videos and thanks for your kindness ♥️
Wtf did I just watch? I love it
ohgod. this was hillarious!!! :DDDDDD and a great review!
That was rather lovely to watch. Thank you.
The sarcasm is fantastic haha.
My man killed me in the first 3 seconds. Bravo.
Coincidentally, that’s usually how long I last in other activities.
Touche sir
All the images from this lense are just beautiful
Best photography video I've seen in a long time, thanks! 🤣
Dude, you’re a straight up comedian! I love the humor. You made my day
This might be the most British video I’ve seen in a long while
Swamp Thing : Camera Edition
"im a man of mystery" is the Line that made me subscribe
Hell of refreshing video, love it
That was f***ing hilarious.
Gillie suit and Nikes is an iconic look
thanks for hyping the lens up now they are over 50K now... I saved up 3 years to buy this lens for 26k. ;)
🤣
Brilliant and wildly entertaining. Cheers.

That lens looks powerful enough to photograph the origin of the universe. I always wanted a snap of the Big Band in RAW and JPEG (because I can’t be bothered with all that Lightroom stuff).
Great video Tom!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
why compensating for that MFT sensor with a speedbooster if that's exactly the benefit with this lens
Probably the most hilarious review I've ever seen 😂😂
I talked with sigma rep a few years back and when you say it is rare thats no joke he has framed invoices for both that exist in Canada. Thats right to my understanding there is only two of these sold in Canada.
I had a good laugh with this one. It's plain brilliant. British humour at its best.
This is by far your funniest and most entertaining episode!
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it!
Had a good laugh! Thank you sir! :)
'All Ghillied Up' but for wildlife photography
Finally, a great lens for traveling 🔥
Loved it. Its refreshing to see a photographer not be so damn serious in a video.
How did you remote shoot the pictures and why is the lens levitaiting al the video? It must be a fake one.
👻
I loved this video, but actually a few interesting take-aways from this for me. The Bigma is an amazing lens from the look of things. I have often wanted one and I really still do having seen this. That speed adaptor was intriguing. My full-frame camera is a 5D mk 1 so I have a few EF mount lenses. My main setup is micro four thirds. Even with the chromatic aberrations, there are some interesting possibilities there. Finally, however ridiculous you made the street photography seem, it also seemed to work very well. Some really interesting shots and I think I may give that sort of 'out-there' technique a go.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you found it useful 😁
Would you say the lense or the suit helped better with the street photography?
Definitely the suit. It's a must-buy item for any street photographer
This was a random yt recommendation. Informative and funny. Here have my sub.
I have a 150 to 500 and it is insanely big. This is still next level.
Were you shooting at f/2.8 or the wider aperture (~f/2) given by the speedbooster? Or technically an f/4 FF equivalent
I have been watching your stuff for a while now and never knew you were this funny. Please make more content like this! this is way too good!
Thank you, I appreciate your kindness - glad you liked it!
@@TomCalton Do you have anyway I can directly support you? Like a PayPal or something, I would love to send a donation!
Thank you for the really kind offer. I don't currently have anything set up for donations, but just your supportive comment and a like on the video is a huge enough help. 🙏🏻
Oh man, instant sub. Your first line killed.
Please make another video with a fullframe camera would love to see the results this lens produces.
Didnt expect this to be this funny, but was very glad it was lol
The intro alone made me subscribe love the content 😂
Ha, ha, ha... You look like Chewbaca in that sniper suit! Funniest thing I saw this week. Thanks!
you hits different
Perfect for cinema
This is the funniest lens review ever.
I still remember the Amazon and B&H reviews for this lens.
I think someone gave it a 6 out of 5 stars because it could see beyond the Hubble Limit.
The first piece of dialogue was all I needed to know that I had to subscribe to this channel
This video had me cackling never thought a lens review could be so entertaining
I'm so pleased to hear I brought a smile to your face ☺️
And this is why I like my Nikon p950 as it has an extreme zoom range but is much cheaper. Sure the sensor is tiny but that's just a matter of the necessary physics to make it as compact as it is. Almost went with the p1000 but I didn't see the need for the extra bulk and the extra thousand millimeters of zoom.
this was such a good video btw
the people around are so nice and funny, here if i tried to do that people would call the police thinking i was stalking others lol
use what lens for this video?canon 24-105/f2.8???
I didn't need that tea to go up my nose in the first 5 seconds. Thanks
This is the technical review I waited all my life without knowing.
ghillie suit, brilliant! They'll never see you coming. :)
This might literally be the best lens review on teh internets.
spent the last part watching a massive lens float around a city centre, and Tom talking off camera, it was like a review by predator
man that’s such a crazy video. love your content sm.
Thanks - I appreciate this 🤜🤛
that looks amazing for street photography. checks every single box.
TOM: This lens is whisper quiet!!
BIGMA: *sounds like the terminator scanning for a target*
🤣
ond of fav youtubers now
Ah MAN! I've been calling this the Sig-Zooka for years! I'm sticking with it
