It’s interesting. I’ve had my 9 year old granddaughter machine embroidery and then she wanted help to make a quilt for a friend. She much prefers quilting to embroidery
Hi Becky, catching this on the replay. I've so enjoyed your morning meetings! I'm teaching one of my granddaughters how to sew and she's LOVING it. Sew Exciting! Next time you're in Colorado take the Cog Railway up to Pikes Peak. Very fun and your lungs have some time to adjust!
Watching replay. Could not hold my eyes open after niggt shift last niggt! ErR was booming last night. Seeing early flu and a smattering of Strep thriat, along with the usual bumps, bruises, falls (all that rain!)! So I went straight to bed. I don't have an embroidery machine as yet, but you do inspire me! You do a good bit of teaching on traditional quilting, and I love hearinf about new products and techniques! Listening to you is like chatting with an old friend! I LIVE NEAR Refugio, Tx..(yor in Texas? RIGHT) AND LOOKING forward to retirement sewing. My retirement date is August 1! This week@
It was great seeing your granddaughter’s voyage into embroidery and she did a fantastic llama! I love her Christmas dog panel quilt and ordered the Bear Tracks panel myself. Hello to all the grandsons also! Hi Frito, Becky and Keith!
Welcome back Becky!! Enjoyed the videos with the grands!! Thank you for sharing Julie's backdrop designs. When I saw her video I was very excited as I can think of oodles of ways to use them. I hope you do a little video on how to use them. As always, your videos have been tremendously helpful!! ❤
Thanks. I'm sold too. Just bought the stars Christmas one. Am making Christmas mugrugs, table runners/toppers and placemats. This is my test run of the Quilt Backdrops. You and Keith have a lovely day.
I missed the live, but watched tonight. I’ve already bought several of the backdrop designs and can’t wait to use them. I use E2E all the time, but have been hoping we’d get backdrops, too!! 😊
You were in my head last night. I was doing pinwheels for the first time. Did a trial first and kept the integrity of the base and nested the seams. Tuned out perfect. Thanks
I am getting ready to start Lori Holt's Hometown embroidery quilt and using the backdrops will be perfect for this project...I think...I know some others in the PTWT FB group are doing this quilt as well and I wonder if they will also use the backdrops for quilting...let me know...have a great day...
Welcome home Becky! It was fun to meet your grand kids. They are so cute! I bet Frito missed you a bunch! How does JuJu's back drop quilting different than what is available in the Luminaire's Design Center? I think the new Bernina 990 does a single run stitch with their jumbo decorative stitches.
So Becky, with the backdrops, if you use them on a pieced quilt top and you are not doing QUAG, would you sandwich the quilt and then do the backdrops?
I scored a full 1/2 yd. plus a full set of Vegas Strips (6" x wof) cuts of Lori Holt's newest fabric line from Sew Yeah in Las Vegas, NV.. I've not checked out the website to see if it's listed. Sew Yeah has their own line from Riley Blake, "Not Your Momma's Fabric". The new Designs by JuJu (backdrops) How do you get it around your embroidery? Do we need to do something with Embrilliance?
I am a little confused concerning the new quilting backdrops. If used on individual blocks what would be the quilt sandwich? Are these Quilt as you go Blocks, or are these designs for a finished quilt, where you are moving the quilt to each block, etc.? If the blocks are quilted before you add backing, wouldn’t you still have to do ditch-quilt in order to attach the back to the top? Thanks.
It depends on the type of quilt you're making. If you QAYG then yes, you'll ditch to adhere the backing. If you are not doing QAYG, then you'll use the backing as your 'stabilizer' and hoop the batting & top quilt sandwich in the hoop. Then just quilt the backdrop in the hoop into whatever square/rectangle you want. This is really more for smaller wall hangings, table toppers, etc. I'd use an E2E design for a larger quilt.
Can’t wait to check out Jujus new backdrop designs. I love quilting in my embroidery machine. Thanks for letting us know.
Your granddaughter's embroidery looks great.

Good evening glad to see your back. Hope you had a nice visit with your son and the kids. Hope Keith is doing good with his knee.

Congrats on your retirement!! It's WONDERFUL!!
Wow! There was a lot in this episode! Thank you Becky. 😊
Thank you Becky ❤

Christopher Phelps is the best. He has replaced both of my knees and they are wonderful.
Watching the replay. Love Designs by Juju products
I have done edge to edge on a queen size quilt using my embroidery machine, dime hoop and dime weightless quilter. It was tough but doable.
I bought 5 of the DBJJ and used them to add background quilting to the Lori Holt project bags. They are wonderful designs!
Good morning Bexky! Remember to put a quilt lable on your granddaughter's quilt - will be a wonderful keepsake as her first quilt
Great idea!!
Thank you explaing the back drops from Juju

Glad you are back. Watching you starts my day! Gives me education and a laugh or two!
Busy morning - so catching on the rerun
Single run makes these a game changer!!

I'm not a BOT 😊
Love our PTWT!

I am gad that you had a good trip. My granddaughter also lives out of town and it is to get to visit her
Wow! I am sold too. Getting some TODAY! Lol
Slept in this am. Stayed up late preparing for a retreat on Thursday.
Good morning. Watching replay.
Good morning welcome back
I hate that I am missing the lives!
Good morning Becky and sweet Friday! Welcome home! Great to see you !🥰
Great video Becky!!

Kimberbell has the same block by block background quilting for blocks, borders and sashings as well

DBJJ Birth Announcements are sew cute!

Yes!
Would you use the Trimmer by George to quilt the scarecrow sashing?

How big our your design boards that you lay your cut fabric on with the alphabities?
Becky, I have missed being in the lives. I have been moving and my mother in law has stage 4 cancer and is now on hospice.
Aw Tina, I'm so sorry. You and your mom are in our prayers. We'll be here when you are ready. One day at a time. ((Big hugs))
I think the Designs by JuJu Backdrops are just the same as Kimberbell quilting designs, unless I am missing something….
Do you frame the birth announcement?
What does your t-shirt say?
I'm not the quilt police. :D
Your quilt in back if crooked.
Tell your granddaughter there's no embroidery police just like there's no quilt police.
If you add designs such as sashing designs after the quilt is done-won’t the back look funny since you’ve already quilted the quilt?
Why not let your grandson sew as well if he wants to? No discrimination for this art! You will need to buy a machine and accessories to him too.
I agree
Oh he certainly can! They have another machine he can use that I purchased for the family years ago. He just wants to use 'her' new machine.
