    These always get me revved up to implement these practices. I hope you get a client in west central Texas to see what options we have.

    I would love to know the county or nearest town in these videos! When I watch these videos and see the forest cover I always like to know what the forest cover would have been before 1500. Virtually all of these sites you visit are loblolly, but are best managed to resemble either longleaf or shortleaf ecosystem forest. I'm always left wanting to know which forest type it would have been. Knowing the county would basically tell me. That, or the soil.

      We'll try to share some information, but many landowners wish to remain private. Thanks!

      East Texas was all Longleaf Pine Savanah. Just like most of the southeastern US. It is thought to have covered an area the size of Montana or 93,000,000 acres. The virgin growth has been reduced to 12,000 acres. Today about 4-5million acres of secondary regen or re-planted LLPs remain. If you are interested in true American History look no furthur than the Longleaf Pine.

    Well i wish I had known you was in texas. I'd have have set up a meeting with you. My property is located over in Jefferson TX. I met with a texas forester Monday. I told my plan. And how I wanted to log ang improve for wildlife. I sure would like to have you guys out.
    My forester listened to my goals and suggested we do a pulpwood cut. And also clean up were we take the less desirable trees. Lot of pine to cut. And some of the oaks. Just for clean up purposes. He does a lot of work with Larry Crowell a wildlife conservationist. I'm hoping for good results. I mentioned controlled burn. He said yes we'd try to set up

    I’d love to watch Doc, and your favorite agronomist from one of the fertilizer or seed treatment companies exchange biological facts. Yes, this is the future of deer management, I just hope it’s also the future of farming!

    Awesome video! This is the first time I’ve heard about the Large Stomach Worm. I live in South Alabama and also hunt planted pines. Do you think I could use this same test to determine if my deer herd has enough food? If so could you make a video showing how to find the worm or link an Instructional video? Thanks

      @GrowingDeerTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lucas - certainly a detailed herd health analysis including a necropsy (autopsy for wildlife) will work. However, simply noticing how much browse is on preferred forage species will quickly tell if there are more deer than quality groceries where you hunt.

    Grant and Daniel - is there any where on your videos or website that his a LIST of grasses and Forbes we get from burning and what they provide for protein/nutrition for deer and turkey? Thanks!

    • @GrowingDeerTV
      @GrowingDeerTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ryan - which species that respond to the fire depends on the location and past activities (logging, plowing, herbicides, etc.) on the area being burned. Ragweed, Big Bluestem, greenbriar, etc., tend to be very common in most locations.

    Should I plant my food plot this spring or wait until the fall? The dimensions are 31 yards by 12 yards.

    • @GrowingDeerTV
      @GrowingDeerTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Planting this spring will keep weeds at bay, depending on what is planted. Hidey Hole - or small plots - are to attract deer and don't produce enough forage to increase the nutritional plane for the local herd. So - either way is acceptable!
