First it depends on the time point when you are crimping. With grasses and cereals it's only crimping to death when the plants are flowering. If you crimp earlier the plants will regrow. The next point is that the crimper needs to be NOT sharp. You don't want to cut the plant. For the crimping effect you need just flat steel.
