I'm just glad he got his rightfull place back 😁 And it is true, that it was the right thing to do. But that must have suuuucked during a few days for him
It’s kind of amazing that someone could accidentally break the rules and not realize it, but since that’s clearly and objectively what happened, there really is no other choice but to disqualify the runs. Rules are rules for a reason, after all, and that _was_ the whole point of the category. It’d be like submitting a SM64 run in the 16-Star category where you do indeed collect 16 Stars but then do the BLJ to reach DDD and BitFS instead of using MIPS. I’m glad he was able to regain his top spot afterwards, though. He definitely deserves it.
I find it very thematically appropriate that the Portal Gun, a piece of experimental equipment that fucks with the laws of physics, has the capacity to break reality wide open when used by competent players
Also it saved less than a tenth of a second, not exactly a "secured wr". Also, the trick wasn't a secret since he streams his runs. He has since gotten within 1 second of his old, invalid, pb
@@firedoctor1 this is true for some games for sure, but is less important in portal due to the type of game. For example, in the most current wr Shizzal actually doesn't get a trick which saves a whole 7 seconds. Not 0.7, a full 7 second timesave. So the few frames he saves in 05 are not really important over the course of a full run.
Sometimes a run that feels incompetent to the runner and is objectively worse just _looks_ cooler because of what you see and the number of tricks pulled off in succession.
The chamber 5 example is the perfect reason why I was so iffy about save glitch being used in No OoB category - there is no visual distinction between inbounds and out of bounds, you have to examine the demos very carefully to see where the portals land. Most runners just learn routes without investigating or double checking where edge glitched/save glitched portals are landing
