Best Camera Cage for Panasonic Lumix GH6

- The Best GH6 Cage: review comparison of Tilta TA-T15-FCC-B Full Camera Cage for Panasonic GH6 vs. SmallRig 3440 “Black Mamba” Series Camera Cage vs. SmallRig 3784 Full Camera Cage for Panasonic Lumix GH6. After comparison of Tilta TA-T15-FCC vs. SmallRig 3440 vs. SmallRig 3784 to find the best camera cage for GH6, I have come to the conclusion that Tilta is overall the best of these three camera cages for the Panasonic GH6.
First of all the Tilta cage TA-T15-FCC-B has an anti-twist pin on the bottom plate in addition to the 1/4"-20 screw which fits into the camera which ensures the camera does not twist in the cage. The SmallRig 3441 black mamba cage and SmallRig 3784 camera cage do not have this feature.
Also, the GH6 Tilta cage TA-T15-A-B has substantially more mounting options on top as well as NATO rail on both top and left side whereas SmallRig 3440 and SmallRig 3784 have limited mounting options on top and only have a NATO rail on the left hand side of the camera cage for the Lumix GH6.
ℹ️ I have not tested any micro four thirds' metabone speedboosters or other lens adapters with these cages. So if you are using a focal reducer with different lens mount conversion to m43, pay attention to this aspect.
The SmallRig Black Mamba 3440 / 3441 may be more suitable for use with a monopod as it has centrally located threaded holes for both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screw types whereas on the Tilta TA-T15-A-B cage, the bottom screw threads are not centrally located so the Tilta GH6 cage relies more on the Arca Swiss base for usage on tripods and monopods.

I have the Small Rig Black Mamba cage. It fits closer than my cages for my two GH5s and my GH5 ii. It is also more secure, meaning it doesn’t ever come loose.
Yes, that was the first cage I bought as well but it doesn't have enough mounting points on top which is why I ended up buying the other ones.
It bends with heavier rigs.. low quality

Hey! I have exactly the same Smallrig cage (3784), and it works fine for me. That little screw on top was a little bit tight fit, but the battery door opens well and overall I'm happy with it. I have been looking at Smallrigs Black Manta cage too to purchase someday though.

Damn, I must have been unlucky with my one. I had the black mamba first but I needed more mounting points on top which is why I bought the other ones.
Man, upgrading from a GH5 to Gh6 has not been without its "growing pains" lol. I ultimately decided on the Tilta cage since I had Tilta for my GH5, so my handles, rosette mounts, and other accessories adapted without any faff. Also, it was half the price of the black mamba!

Bonus info- Biggest smallest detail that I miss from my GH5: Tactile buttons! (especially the shutter button) Such a minute thing, but "mushy" buttons just makes the experience feel lacking in quality. I know it serves a purpose of sorts, like less noise and preventing accidental blur when bottoming out the shutter, but I still miss my clicky buttons, lol.
Yes, I agree. a tactile shutter button would definitely be better particularly since it is rarely used for video recording. My biggest complaint on the GH6 is the short battery life... I think it is contributing to me having a shorter life 😂
Does the Tilta cage flex like the Smallrig ones?
No, not in my experience with the setup that I have. It seems solid. I suspect the reason the SmallRig cage flexes is because of its thin curved design around the buttons without the additional support in front like the Kondor Blue cage, but the Tilta cage is square and has good thickness all around.
