@@joonapousi3905They are kinda starting to get replaced by the Patria AMV which I'd say is kinda like an upgraded SISU, although there are lots of differences (for example, SISU is an APC while AMV is more of an IFV)
Sisu build trucks for the needs in Finnland (cold rough climate/very heavy trucks (timber, multiple trailors)), you would rarely see a Sisu truck outside Northern Europe. They used a big variety of very powerful engines over the years. Rolls-Royce in the 70s, Cummins in the 80s, Caterpillar in the late 90s/early 2000s (with Renault cabin), 2010s till today Mercedes Benz (with modified former Mercedes Actros cabin).
SISU is like Tatra in the way that they're heavy duty and offroad focused trucks and neither makes their own engines or cabs. SISU uses Mercedes engines and cabs, Tatra uses DAF cabs and PACCAR engines.
I don't know how often it change, but I seen sisu truck wirh engines from pretty much every major manufactures. So it seams like they swich contracts at time. It's funny how he doesn't realize that SISU uses Mercedes engines and cabs, even has interior from the Mercedes-Benz Actros. Just like how he doesn't realize that Tatra use DAF cabs and PACCAR engines. He also doesn't realize that DAF uses PACCAR's MX 11 or MX 13 engine.
You should really take a look at SISU's military vehicles. We had the SISU XA-186 as our personnel vehicle in the TmBn in the mid-nineties. (These were specially built for Norway, 22 pieces in total). Back home in Norway, we had some problems with them at our first military exercise. The weight caused the shoulder to slide out on bad roads. (Three SISU rolled off the road in the first exercise). But once you got used to them, they were wonderful machines. In Kosovo, they excelled due to their thick armor as multi-role vehicles. There weren't many enemies who would pick a fight with a SISU XA-186 loaded with a .50 caliber Browning on top.
Drove 1980s Sisu SM 430 fuel truck during my military service. 14l Cummins and non synchronized Fuller gearbox. What a beast. It's nothing fancy compared to modern trucks (had new Scanias and Mercs too), but man it brings smile to your face. You have to really drive the truck. This one didn't even have a speedlimiter. Fastest we drove it was over 130km/h gps speed, with empty 4 axle trailer behind.
The special thing about Sisu is that they special build the lorries for its purpose. Usually people buy a chassis, and then fit a frame on top of the original frame to support whatever that lorry will be. A tipper, road rescue etc. Sisu makes the lorry for that purpose, so you don't need the extra frame. They were also the first to have liftable tandem drive, and you could order them with lift on whichever axle you wanted. There are a few Sisu heavy road rescue lorries in Norway :)
Courage, toughness, grit, perseverance, bravery It has many meanings but sisu basically is a word that symbolizes toughness and ability to overcome seemingly impossible odds and never giving up attitude.
It as well means a stubborn attitude with some stupidity/nonsense, and a mean challenger to authority. Just as the Finnish lore epoch invented for them when Finnish nationality was reinvented by few people to artificially separate Finn's from Karelians and Russians.
Thanks for taking a look at SISU. SISU doesn't seem to be very known outside of Finland. Here where I live in the south of Finland, most of the different heavy trucks on the roads are Scanias and Volvos, but after them SISU is as popular as any other brand. Please do check out the defence/military branch of SISU, they're pretty cool.
Wow - i never knew - impressive - another Scandinavian country, punching well above it's weight. Since Volvo and Scania sell so well here in Australia, they should come here to.
Sisu Auto makes mainly trucks for specific, heavy use like dump trucks for mining industry, other earth moving and timber trucks. They also make military vehicles, mainly off road trucks (4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10). Sisu manufactured also the XA-180/185 and XA-200 series of Armored personnel carriers for decades (with several different versions). They sold the APC business to Patria Ltd, the largest Finnish company in defence industry.
I drove few different Sisu trucks when i was my military service. E11t 6x6, SK 4x4, Karhu 4x4, Pasi APC, Nasu truck with tracks "Belt Sander". Also Sisu Diesel has manufactured tractor/agriculture engines. ACCO Power owns Sisu Diesel. ACCO has big engine plant here in Finland. So Valtra, Massey-Ferguson, Fendt, Challenger.. many others use Sisu Diesel engines..
For your pronounciation, If you choose finnish as a language on google translate and type in "sisu", then click on the speaker icon, it does a pretty good job on the pronounciation, more enphasis on the second S, and then in finnish, the letter U has more of an O sound to it, but not really the "normal" english O sound, kind of a "harsher" O sound Anyways, the name Sisu comes from the finnish word sisu which doesn't really have a proper translation in english but it sort of means guts, grit, determination, never giving up or backing down, which is a mentality finns are quite famous for having, certainly helped us a lot in the winter war against the Soviets! And I think it's a perfect name for a company like that!
While SISU did manufacture more convential buses/trucks back in the day the brand now focuses strictly on heavy duty vehicles, typically usage would be agri, construction or logging. Pretty much a Tatra light manufacturer. While their frames are made in-house they make extended usage of outsourced components meaning any buyer can have the new truck taylored to his needs, meaning their trucks are robust but also extremely pricey. The dump truck in the intro shows it has a liftable tandem drive which some years ago was something we truckers could only dream of, same with the driven steerable fifth axle... The '99 and '03 shown @6:45 use Renault sourced cabs, this was prior to the later agreement with MB
Sisu made that to the early 50's.First was to Vanaja untill Sisu buy that factory and got they technical. So all others are been far behind to Sisu. Sisu was first who make truck over a 900hp(1140hp)factory ready Hybrid.
I find American long nose trucks aesthetically more pleasing but when it comes to raw power Nordic countries make the best trucks. Sisu, Scania and Volvo are beasts. They have to be because of the harsh environments and cold weather of Nordic countries.
Finland mentioned, torille! :D I love SISU trucks, coolest trucks I've driven are "RAskas SIsu" or "RASI" in short and an 8x8 off road Scania. Don't remember the exact model of the Scania
Drove Sisu trucks during my military service, robust and dependable trucks. During the 1980s Reima Söderman and Jouko Kallio drove Sisu racing trucks. In the 1990s I was a track marshal during several years in European Truck Championship races held in Finland; Sisu trucks were absolute beasts on the tracks, it's worth searching for some old videos.
Back in the day I was fleet mechanic for many 8x4 tippers and skip wagons, some vehicles you probably never heard of like Seddon Atkinson and Magirus Deutz, Magirus with Deutz engines are very unusual engines v8 air-cooled. The Maggie 8x4 tippers were 232D30's which used a Deutz F8L 413 four-stroke 11.3-litre V8 air-cooled engine which produced 229hp and 722Nm of torque. A six-speed constant mesh gearbox, with a splitter, gave 12 forward gears, I can still hear and smell those mean motors 😂 Sadly both these manufacturers were bought by Iveco
I'm pretty sure those pics fom the Sisu history weren't all right. The yellow 2020 one looked like a 1980 model and some of the older ones looked way too modern. Nice to see that you took a look at Sisu trucks in any case. In earlier years Sisu was sold with both RollsRoyce and Cummins engines, if memory serves
We are lucky, possibility to be born in Finland is the same as winning in lottery, that's why we have saying that there are 5 million lottery winners in Finland :)
Many old Sisu drivers still prefer the Eaton Fuller gearbox and it's still available as a configuration option. Attached to Mercedes 625 hp engine, Sisu claims it the most powerfull combination in the market when it comes to manual transmission.
Sisu uses the Mersu cab today, the older E series had a Renault cab.The chassis is made with the axles themselves, and Sisu is known for them.Sisu has used Leyland, Rolls Royce, Scania, Renault as engines. The Mercedes-Benz electro-pneumatically controlled PowerShift 3 automatic transmission used today is 20% faster in its shifting speed compared to the previous version. 16-speed automated G 280-16 PowerShift 3 transmission supplied by Daimler AG 18-speed Eaton non-synchronized Fuller RTLO 22018 manual transmission. 18+4-speed Eaton non-synchronized Fuller RTLO 20918B manual transmission. Mercedes-Benz Telligent G240-16 Synchron (Euro 5 light duty)
Sisu's strength has always been its body. An expensive car, but when the task is difficult Sisu is at its best. In the forest, in mud, on dirt roads ... Especially when tipping, very stable. If you dump Sisu, you're in the wrong business.
Sisu makes their trucks mostly for wood logs, construcktion and military. *Mostly in Finland we have in first place Scania (about 35%), secondary brand is Volvo (about 30%), these two brand have equal amount of trucks in Finland. Third is Mercedes (about 20%) and after that comes every else euro truck brands, like DAF, MAN, Iveco, Renault and obiously Sisu (about 15%). In 70s to 2000s, Sisu maybe was more famous than Volvo or Scania. (*These procents isnt viral, but something like that it goes)
SISU have made use of cabs and engines from different companies, Some models use Mercedes cabs (like the actros) and others use Renault cabs (i saw the renault premium cab used) Of course the interiors are carried across too
Sisu's are excellent trucks. My Dad used to drive a Sisu Polar 550 for years and it was nice looking machine. He also used to drive the model with the small circular lights, which I also thought that looked a bit funny. Never remember him complaining about the lights though.
Great pronunciation of Sisu! I drove a lot of Sisus in the army, and I think especially the armored variant is still a cool vehicle, it can even swim and some of them have been delivered to Ukraine to do what they were made for. You can look up the truck with search term "Patria Pasi", the English article has this different name in Wikipedia. You can find several videos on youtube with the armored truck, codenamed xa-180. It has been super popular in UN mission.
Sisu is a tiny manufacturer, they don´t make their own cabs etc anymore, they used the Renault Premium cab in the 2000s and now they use Mercedes´ current Actros cabs and other parts. And make rather special and heavy duty trucks with them.
It´s an awesome truck to haul things with😁 i used to transport forestmachines and excavators with Sisu over in Finland but it was an older model, and a great gearbox it had in it! Eaton Fuller, great gear box i must say!!! Suomen Sisu Perkele💪💪
I'm a former swedish soldier that went to Bosnia in the 90's. We had finnish Sisu armed vehicle. They are some cool vehicle for shure. Gotta love those neighbours 🇸🇪❤️🇫🇮
used to drive a renault based sisu like the 2009 in the video and a mercedes based sisu like the 2012, both in the axle configuration as the 2012 truck. they were a beast, climbed the steepest hills and worst roads, were all the other trucks got stuck
Their military trucks are fun. One of my tasks is to guide the artillery towing truck into place in the middle of the rocky forest. They taught me not to give mercy for the truck, so while I show the sign, all the gunners fall over board. We have nicknames for these: Masi and Rasi. Both can easily drive over large stones and climb over steep walls of slippery mud.
I used to work In heavy machinery repair Shop. Most of the Sisus are used In very hard conditions, like earth moving, log trucks or moving big forest machinery. That is why they are sometimes in quite bad condition and not very nice to fix. It is quite small brand and sometimes parts are not very standardisoid and some models can be sometimes difficult to fix, but frames are very strong. That is why they are used in hard work. Some models have Eton Fuller gearbox and Cummins engine. They are very popular models
1- There are only two drive axles. 2- The newer ones in this video have Mercedes cabins. 3- The 1990 is a slightly modified Volvo cabin 3- The 1999 is a Renault Premium cabin, This cabin is also used in some Kenworth cabovers in the US. 4- The 2003 is till the Renault Premium cabin but the headlight and bumper are completely modified or reinterpreted 5- The 2006 is again a Renault Premium cabin as the 2003 6- 2009 , same, Renault Premium 7- 2012 is a Mercedes Actros cabin 8- 2015 , Mercedes Actros 9 - 2018 , the last and current Mercedes Actros version. Now , if you pay close attention , this being a Mercedes cabin , there is a lot of common / shared parts with Freightliner and Western Star such as...... uppper section of the side doors, door handles and i am sure same goes for the interior. 10- 2020 , I DO NOT KNOW but some details reminds me of 70s/80s Volvo and Scania. 11- 2022 , back to Renault Premium cab. 12 - 2023 , back to Mercedes Acttros 13- 08:35 - Mercedes Actros interior , you can find the exact same steering wheel in Western Stars ; buttons and stalks in both Western Star and Freightliner. Regards,
I drove sisu timbertruck in 2009 and it was most powerfull in that time, 630hp cat engine. Here is long hill and volvo 550hp have change two times lower and sisu went up with no changes
Next check out the Valmet/Valtra tractors! yes i know, not trucks or cars but that doesn't make them any less awesome! (Valmet is the original manufacturer name since the war, worked with Volvo BM. Valmet bought out Volvo in 1985 entered into an agreement with Massey-Ferguson to produce tractors at Massey's factory in France. Valmet had been a government-owned company until 1993, when it incorporated with Sisu (see its relevant to the video.. ish) and they change name to Valmet ( that was used previously for tractors / forest machinery)
Hello Ian. Do you know *Bruce* *Wilson's* channel? He is a real SCANIA fan and was recently in Sweden where he visited the SCANIA headquarters. Very interesting, I think. Magnus
Those ´40s models where still on use by smaller companies were I'm from around 2 decades ago as they are so reliable and easy to fix. And lot of cheap parts. Also long time lurker turned to subsriber now.
😊Sisu has been working closely with Daimler AG since December 2010. In the current Timber and Rock model series, the driver's cab, transmission and engines from the current Mercedes-Benz Actros series are installed. They achieve an output of 350 to 440 kW complete mercedes technic👍 allerbest un hool di wuchtig😊👍
In most powerfull models Sisu have used diesel engines made by Rolls-Royce (70s'), Cummins(80s' and 90s'), Mack and Caterpillar(2000s') and Mercedes-Benz (2010 -). With these engines Sisu have used Eaton Fuller gearbox from 70s' to 90s'. Still today it has been used in hybrid model because of high torque. With Mack and Cat engines gearbox was ZF, Fuller was option. M-B gearbox is used with M-B engine. My father had several Sisus from 60s' to 90s' but they were lighter 2 axle models for local use. Engines were mostly Leyland (british) but the last one had finnish Valmet, best known from tractors (Valtra today).
Sisu is known for its good offroad abilities. There even is a Finnish saying about sisu trucks that i will now try and translate: When dumping on wet surfaces trucks tend to get stuck, when a sisu-driver gets stuck, he just lowers the other axle and keeps on hauling. 😂
Just love that subject about dump trucks. Offload in a very short time, ready for a new task. Drove a Scania R480 with a 6 speed Allison - perfect combo. Light weight and could kick some more powerful trucks in handling and acceleration. Thank you for this exiting topic. BR NGK ( DK )
My brother bought a surplus SISU Proto from the military and converted it into road use. Unfortunately he had to sell it couple years later but it was a cool truck.
At least some time back the Sisu civilian truck cabs were licensed from Renault. But now that Finland is in Nato there will be even more emphasis on their military trucks. On the civilian market Sisu specialises in heavy load vehicles, why it is probably the most common dump truck in Finland.
Nice one. Sisu specializes in everything advanced, special and/or offroad, so everything but regular long-haul trucks. Compare it to Ginaf from The Netherlands: they take a DAF truck as a base to create all sorts of specialty off-road vehicles for the toughest jobs. Mercedes-Benz does this on its own with the Arocs series of trucks.
You can multitask while driving manual too. I know a guy who rolls joints no problem while driving his (manual) delivery van thru' a busy European city.
Sisu is a term which dates back hundreds of years. It is described as being integral to understanding Finnish culture. It is a term for going beyond one's mental or physical capacity, and is a central part of the country's culture and collective discourse.
You should take a look at the oldest and still running road race track in the uk that isnt the isle of man TT, its called Olivers mount Racing in scarborough, the 3 main races held are Cock O' the North, Gold Cup and Barry Sheen classic, it doesnt have the size or speed of the TT with only a 2.4 mile track but its a much tighter circuit witn nothing but trees and drop off with its highest point being 500ft above sea level
That was a road construction, not mining operation. In Finland, roads need very good foundations because long winters and permafrost. It's quite common to build them across rocky hills and crush them into construction material.
I belive sisu has develloped the first driving liftable rear axle. So you can have 2 rear axles that both drive the truck and the most rear one allso can be lift for fuel economy.
The first bus I have ever driven was a SISU bus, since that it has been several others but not another SISU not because they were bad but they don't manufactured them anymore. The SISU factory in Karjaa (80 km west from Helsinki towards Turku) is very familiar to me because I have lived about 10 km away from it and my sisters husband worked there for several years. While he worked there they lived just outside the factory area maybe 6 meters from the factory. I don't think they export SISU very much to other countries.

SISU make much more military vehicles of all kinds than commercial trucks. This modern day SISUs have Mercedes Benz cabins and engines. But you can actually order it with fuller manual transmission. SISU mainly uses by logging industry and all sorts of earthworks and gravel trucking companies. Over ten years ago SISU use Cummins and Caterpillar engines and fuller transmissions and sadly now they use only Mercedes Benz engines. SISU Axles are sold in USA as well and they are very famous of their axles and military vehicles these days.
You have to check out Panssari Sisu "armored Sisu" aka PaSi. There are few models but XA-185 and XA-203 are the current ones if im not mistaken. The newest equipment are made by Patria (Patria AMV/Patria 6x6) and are slowly replacing the Sisu ones.
Wait until you hear all about sisu, and their history, eaton fuller transmissions, Caterpillar engines etc, they are totally awesome, very robust and capable, each one is built specifically for the customers need, basically endless possibilities
Sisu like most of the smaler truck companies buy the major parts from a larger company. Typically they buy engine, gearbox, cab and axel. What they make them self is typically frame, bed, and a few systems. That is basically why the trucks look so randomly diffrent, depending on who they buy the cab from. Its also worth saying that while scania, volvo, mercedes and man make there own engines (that they also sell to other manufacures) the componet to the engines like injectors and other compex part they in turn typically buy from a third party. Even at that, there is very few that make there own engines. This is even more so true for bussss where there is plenty of bus brands but they typically use parts from the main truck manufacutes.
Sisu makes the frame and axles themselves, but the cab, engine and automatic transmission come from Daimler. Another gearbox option is a non-synchronized Eaton Fuller 18 speed. Sisu is a small manufacturer, so it implements a lot of special solutions that customers want. In the older E and R models, Sisu used a Renault cab. The engines were Cummins, Caterpillar, Mack and Renault. Gearboxes were ZF and Eaton Fuller. Before Renault's cab, until 1998, Sisu used its own cab. In the S series published in 1980, the engines were from Cummins or Valmet (Agco Power nowadays) The gearbox was Eaton Fuller, ZF or Allison automatic). The cab of the M series released in 1969 was also Sisu's own production. It has been nicknamed the rivet cab because it is assembled by riveting. The engines in the M series were from Cummins, Rolls Royce or Leyland. The transmission in all of them was Eatton Fuller.
the new dodge dart is sold as fiat viaggio but the base is the same as several other brands. fiat/stellantis bought interesting things and streamlined it. (I like fiats, got it from my parents, but I'm car-less now because I have no need, and I had some bad experience with a VW, that needed lots of oil - engine damage, was a fraud case)
You mentioned the truck locking like something from a game maybe it is the GIFU truck in the game my summer car witch is a game from Finland you were thinking of one of the older SUSU trucks locked very similar to that

SISU made their own engines way back. My Valmet tractor and my wheeled Lännen excavator both have SISU Diesel engines. Some parts are from Germany and UK so its not all original i guess.
In sisu trucks there is liftable driving axel isint it cool right (it means axel thath you can lift but it also spinns by from the force of the motor when down)
SISU produces a lot of vehicles for the army . Now Finland is in NATO so you will probably see some of these vehicles in some videos of military maneuvers . Jeepa Avenger it is currently produced in Poland in Tychy at the Fiat factory .
Look in to Jan de Rooy, Rally driver at Dakar in a Truck or semi (1988) He could win the Paris to Dakar in a semi (DAF). Beating Ari Vatanen the world champion rally
Sisu did make their own cabins like 30 years ago but around 1997 when they launch their E-series Renault cabins take place. Axles and frames they have allways made themselves but I think Marmon Herrington bought that axle factory like 10-15 years ago. Finns arent good at keeping companies in their own hands at all.. The truck I've allways wanted to drive is Sisu with mercedes V8 and Eaton Fuller non synchronized trans.
Yeah, you really should check SISU's military trucks!
Not to forget the quite new pickup/truck!

Arctic dream truck, Sisu frame&axels, Scania motor, and Volvo cabin.
Hell yeah dude💪🇫🇮
Okay, but the Scania knob looks better.
See also the film SISU😆🤣😁
Strong suggestion from here too :)
🤣🤣😂
Great action movie
About that Goldminer? Some call it Finnish John Wick.
Trailers look crazy.
Specialy the "mine into the face" scene. 🤪
Same suggestion :D
Sisu is also a word used to describe Finns' mindset, strength and unyieldingness. Sisu is often translated as spunk or grit.
Courage, toughness, grit, perseverance, bravery
It has many meanings but sisu basically is a word that symbolizes toughness and ability to overcome seemingly impossible odds and never giving up attitude.
It as well means a stubborn attitude with some stupidity/nonsense, and a mean challenger to authority.
Just as the Finnish lore epoch invented for them when Finnish nationality was reinvented by few people to artificially separate Finn's from Karelians and Russians.
SISU, Ginaf and Tatra. Holy trinity of heavy duty european trucks.
Sisu axles are used in Australia at least in Kenworth's heavy haul trucks.
Sisu have one spechial thing. And that thing is.... U can lift that back axel when u have the maximun load.❤ That is so cool thing in winter or ice💯
Also diff locks on both axles and crosslock between them. Sisu ia genuine 4x4 when all locks are on. Something for Yanks to learn😊
First time I saw a SISU was about 20-30 years ago in the European Truck Racing Championship. They were quite successful if I remember right.
In 90's they where unbeatable.
I drove few different Sisu trucks when i was my military service. E11t 6x6, SK 4x4, Karhu 4x4, Pasi APC, Nasu truck with tracks "Belt Sander". Also Sisu Diesel has manufactured tractor/agriculture engines. ACCO Power owns Sisu Diesel. ACCO has big engine plant here in Finland. So Valtra, Massey-Ferguson, Fendt, Challenger.. many others use Sisu Diesel engines..
Small correction its written as "AGCO Power"
@@Kuutti_original Reason acco bought valtra tractors was the sisu engines part of the deal which they named acco power afterwards
@@kaikkimennyt It's spelled AGCO Power ffs
For your pronounciation, If you choose finnish as a language on google translate and type in "sisu", then click on the speaker icon, it does a pretty good job on the pronounciation, more enphasis on the second S, and then in finnish, the letter U has more of an O sound to it, but not really the "normal" english O sound, kind of a "harsher" O sound
Anyways, the name Sisu comes from the finnish word sisu which doesn't really have a proper translation in english but it sort of means guts, grit, determination, never giving up or backing down, which is a mentality finns are quite famous for having, certainly helped us a lot in the winter war against the Soviets! And I think it's a perfect name for a company like that!
U = "ooh" (but shorter)
Great explanation thank You 😎🎉
While SISU did manufacture more convential buses/trucks back in the day the brand now focuses strictly on heavy duty vehicles, typically usage would be agri, construction or logging.
It's really awesome to see the european truck manufacturers getting some attention overseas. Especially now with Bruce Wilson and you. So awesome!!!
Also, when you talked about those payloads... 50t and 70t. Since that film (I assume) is fin made those weights are in kg, not lb. 😂
I was thinking same. Yanks talk about lbs.
50t capacity is 110.000lbs
Fun fact about sisu
They came with tandemdrive with boggilift already in the 90's
Volvo came with that in 2015 or something like that
Sisu made that to the early 50's.First was to Vanaja untill Sisu buy that factory and got they technical.
New Sisu truck is based on Mercedes trucks engine, cab and interiors greatings from Norway.🙂
Finland mentioned, torille! :D I love SISU trucks, coolest trucks I've driven are "RAskas SIsu" or "RASI" in short and an 8x8 off road Scania. Don't remember the exact model of the Scania
For US viewers, 50 tonnes payload in video means metric tonnes. So it is about 110 000 lbs of payload.
We Finns are so happy and lucky 👍🙂
16-speed automated G 280-16 PowerShift 3 transmission supplied by Daimler AG
18-speed Eaton non-synchronized Fuller RTLO 22018 manual transmission.
18+4-speed Eaton non-synchronized Fuller RTLO 20918B manual transmission.
Mercedes-Benz Telligent G240-16 Synchron (Euro 5 light duty)
Fun fact, swedish trucks are most selling trucks in Finland. Sisu has very tiny market share.
SISU has made little less 60000 trucks in whole lifetime. It must be about 1/3 Volvos or MB one years production... 1/2 of Scania
Sisu's strength has always been its body. An expensive car, but when the task is difficult Sisu is at its best. In the forest, in mud, on dirt roads ... Especially when tipping, very stable. If you dump Sisu, you're in the wrong business.
30-odd years ago Sisu won several titles in the European Truck Racing Championship.
Sisu Polar is the current series and it uses Mercedes-Benz cabs, first one was MP3 Actros but current cab is from Arocs
SISU have made use of cabs and engines from different companies,
Some models use Mercedes cabs (like the actros) and others use Renault cabs (i saw the renault premium cab used)
Of course the interiors are carried across too
Sisu's are excellent trucks.
Your pronounciation of sisu is awesome.
It is astonishningly correct. Happy to hear someone pronouncing it so well.
Sisu is a tiny manufacturer, they don´t make their own cabs etc anymore, they used the Renault Premium cab in the 2000s and now they use Mercedes´ current Actros cabs and other parts. And make rather special and heavy duty trucks with them.
Since 2010, Sisu is part of the Daimler Group. So they have the engine and the transmission from the Mercedes Benz Actros
It´s an awesome truck to haul things with😁 i used to transport forestmachines and excavators with Sisu over in Finland but it was an older model, and a great gearbox it had in it! Eaton Fuller, great gear box i must say!!! Suomen Sisu Perkele💪💪
Сису это самый лучший грузовик для северных широт. Молодцы братья Фаины что сделали этот грузовик.
I remember in school we drove old Sisu with Füller gearbox. That gearbox is something you need to learn.
Sisu used Gummings engines and Fuller-Eaton gearboxes in the 80s and 90s. Sisu was very popular in demanding applications such as wood transport
Cummins
I used to work In heavy machinery repair Shop. Most of the Sisus are used In very hard conditions, like earth moving, log trucks or moving big forest machinery. That is why they are sometimes in quite bad condition and not very nice to fix. It is quite small brand and sometimes parts are not very standardisoid and some models can be sometimes difficult to fix, but frames are very strong. That is why they are used in hard work. Some models have Eton Fuller gearbox and Cummins engine. They are very popular models
1- There are only two drive axles.
2- The newer ones in this video have Mercedes cabins.
3- The 1990 is a slightly modified Volvo cabin
3- The 1999 is a Renault Premium cabin, This cabin is also used in some Kenworth cabovers in the US.
4- The 2003 is till the Renault Premium cabin but the headlight and bumper are completely modified or reinterpreted
5- The 2006 is again a Renault Premium cabin as the 2003
6- 2009 , same, Renault Premium
7- 2012 is a Mercedes Actros cabin
8- 2015 , Mercedes Actros
9 - 2018 , the last and current Mercedes Actros version.
12 - 2023 , back to Mercedes Acttros
13- 08:35 - Mercedes Actros interior , you can find the exact same steering wheel in Western Stars ; buttons and stalks in both Western Star and Freightliner.
Regards,
Fun fact about sisus they use currently chassis and head lights from Mercedes actros and before those they used parts from Renault premium
Sisu trucks from finnland.
I didn't know
Must be Tuff AF!😏
Great Name, ruffly translated "Tuff AF!!!"😅
1999 is a Renault, Sisu E-series mk1 used Sisu SM cab but with a little bit more of aerodynamics, rest of the E-series used Renault cabs
In Aussie Kenworths, if you wanted a super heavy duty diff you'd get a Sisu with gear reduction.
They achieve an output of 350 to 440 kW
complete mercedes technic👍
allerbest un hool di wuchtig😊👍
I have to say the cab looks far better on the SISU than it does on the Mercedes.
The Eaton Fuller 18-speed gearbox is also still available.
I live in SISU town. Low series you get them as you like. A lot to road service with extra hydraulic.
A lot of Road Trains in Australia run SISU diffs and axels, they have planetary final drives. Good diffs but $30,000+ to replace.
You should take a look at the oldest and still running road race track in the uk that isnt the isle of man TT, its called Olivers mount Racing in scarborough, the 3 main races held are Cock O' the North, Gold Cup and Barry Sheen classic, it doesnt have the size or speed of the TT with only a 2.4 mile track but its a much tighter circuit witn nothing but trees and drop off with its highest point being 500ft above sea level
you gotta hear the sisu sm300 cummins sound
4 axle truck and 5 axle trailer.
The maximum weight is 76t +5% tolerans in finland.
900 horsepower with Fuller transmission, nice peace of Sisu for sure !!
6:21 Most Sisus I've seen and the only ones I've driven are military trucks. The biggest part of Finnish off-road military trucks are Sisu
Greetings from forest. This 70s rather lengthy clip showcases Sisu's products and assembly line at the time. They produced buses, trucks of all sort; for industries, on rails and also for military. Their products were sold to 40 countries, and most significantly to South American countries, where they also had some production. "SISU On Voimaa 70-luvun mainos". Period correct military truck: "sisu A 45 offroad". And modified for off-road use: "4x4 Proto-Sisu Truck in Off-Road race". I always associated SISU in my military days, because most heavy vehicles were made by SISU here in Finland.
SISU Axles are sold in USA as well and they are very famous of their axles and military vehicles these days.
the 6x6 or was it 8x8 sisu army truck was a beast but the problem was truning 180° you need a lot of space and you dont see shit from the mirrors.
Thank you from here in Finland. Kiitos
Your note for games is not far fetched. I believe in game "My Summer Car", there is old Sisu that you can drive on game play. (Finnish game btw.)
SISU was once famous for lifting the bogie axle at full capacity. Much stronger than the competitors, I have no experience with today's SISU.
The transmission in all of them was Eatton Fuller.
the new dodge dart is sold as fiat viaggio
but the base is the same as several other brands. fiat/stellantis bought interesting things and streamlined it.
(I like fiats, got it from my parents, but I'm car-less now because I have no need, and I had some bad experience with a VW, that needed lots of oil - engine damage, was a fraud case)
You mentioned the truck locking like something from a game
maybe it is the GIFU truck in the game my summer car witch is a game from Finland you were thinking of
one of the older SUSU trucks locked very similar to that

SISU made their own engines way back. My Valmet tractor and my wheeled Lännen excavator both have SISU Diesel engines. Some parts are from Germany and UK so its not all original i guess.
In sisu trucks there is liftable driving axel isint it cool right (it means axel thath you can lift but it also spinns by from the force of the motor when down)
Truck images didn't match with years. Other than that, a great review. Greetings from Finland!
Greetings From Finland!
Dude I've even seen trucks in the event pass cars like the car was just sight seeing
Ari Vatanen, a friend of mine... 😉
