- The Patria family of Armored Modular Vehicles are a modern group of highly adaptable and highly mobile units used for transporting troops. They’ve been designed to protect crews from improvised explosive devices amongst other dangers and are highly effective at doing so. Because of this well over a thousand vehicles have been ordered by armies across the world. Let’s have a closer look at why.

Lighter armor is far better than heavy armor

Heja Finland 🦾🦾 Patria har bevisat sitt värde, det är ett fantastiskt fordon 👍 Jag är glad att Sverige har beställt 321 stycken. ❤
The first Pasis was made in 1983. The serial production was started in 1984. In Libanon 1989 they have driven in bottom mine, and only wheels have to replace. The crew was survived. And now (2023) in Ukrain, they have driven there tripla anti tank mines, and after that wehicle was stop. The crew was survived, and only weels have to replace. Need 100 kg explosives before damage other than weels.
hej systrar och bröder i Sverige, vi är starka tillsammans
hej our NATO brothers in Sweden

Nemo is most likely the best one and also the best idea in general, it really make huge difference when you don't have to carry all those heavy mortars around and i know, i used those old mortars when i was in the army. Just shoot and drive away, one vehicle can patrol so much larger area than just couple random dudes on foot. Next add those drone protection shotguns into it and we have a new king of the battlefield. Tanks, bah, who need those anymore.
We need 'heavy shotgun' concept for vehicle mounting. Regular shotgun kinetic energy is a bit too weak.
Well, Patria Nemo and Amos can change a lot. You can drive and same time shoot 6-10 mortars in minute to same or different spot.
And those can even be set to land at the same time giving the enemy no time to get to cover.
well the AMOS is a modul used in many different APC types, so not specific to this platform
@@Jauertussen1 Actually no. Amos is currently in service in 18 vehicles and all of them are made by Patria. There are prototypes for different setups but none are in service.
Nothing new here; both East and West have had tracked and wheeled AFVs with 120mm mortars under armour in turrets for at least 45 years.
@@stevewatson6839 And they can shoot for driving 6-10 rounds same spot and same time. Don't lie noobie.
I feel that "adaptablitity" is the standing guality of finnish defence forces and on that note tec that comes out of it. Great to see it a new high with patria and ensios kar-21. Great video!
Saw a bunch of these on the road in southern sweden recently. Man do they look mean in dark green. Beautiful machines
I have heard from many different soldiers from different countries that use it and everyone says it is a top notch personnel carrier. Im glad Finland is good in making atleast something :D
Finland is very good at making basically everything. Problem is, we rarely sell our high quality things outside of our country. KAR-21 By Ensio FireArms is hopefully gonna be next big sales thing in weaponry. Amazing gun.

bus is cheaper, fits more personnel and has same survivability in battlefield than patria
Designed in Finland, but most production is located offshore in Poland. Curently almost 2 thousands already manufactured in Poland. Massive number sent to Ukraine.
KTO Rosomak is a licensed version of AMV.
Its built under licensing in Poland, South Africa and Japan.
被击毁了就不好卖了
Patria has many offices around Europe today as well. Patria has offices in Sweden, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia and Spain, among others. it is an international company even though it is mostly owned by the Finnish state and 30% by the Norwegian Air Force
Thing is that Patria would gladly licence that to others and get paid anyway cause finns got no facilities to do enormous amounts domestically (and these would take years to build) so it is more clever to let polish build theirs at their existing factories do polish can have them faster and in quantities they have planned to have in a first place...
Patria's business model is to manufacture first AMV's in Finland and rest at the country they did sell those. Only those sold to Sweden are totally manufactured in Finland because it's our neighbor country. Such business model gives them possiblity to sell a lot, country buying Patria is having local company which has knowledge to make service (very important at crisis) and local politicians can inform local works. Very good business model.
Patria and CV90 are the new meta.
CV90 is far from perfect. I'm really surprised to see it still getting orders. It has the typical 1980's and earlier attitude of _crew ergonomics_ ?

The nice thing with the suspension is that it's prefectly okay to run over a hill so fast that the whole thing gets airborne. Not many 36 ton vehicles like jumping.
The bad thing about the suspension is that when it breaks, it cannot be field-repaired and it breaks often.
@@granola661 Why do you think it cannot be field repaired?
@@MikkoRantalainen Have you been a crew member in a Patria AMV?
@@granola661 No, but I was asking why do you think suspension cannot be repaired? How me being a crew member is related to the answer?

Click baity title. But Patria is good allrounder apc.
Best in the world for such purpose
Impressive all around machine for sure?
The first thing i noted just looking at the Patria is its simple clean hull design. Few seams, crevices, and details to catch explosions. Easy to protect easy to repair. America's Next IFV should be like this.
US Army is considering the 8x8 + Nemo as the next IFV.
Ukraine really needs those vehicles.
They can't afford them.
they will change nothing, only if Ukraine want to donate it to Russia XD
Jewkraine?
..my be the PEACE is the "system" what Ukraina needs.
@VammasKersantti nah, Zelensky said that Ukraine gonna fight till last Ukranian man standing... This bloody clown wanna kill all Ukranian men, so USA can use Ukraine as it want. Same sh...t with grain, defacto Ukraine doesn't own it, companies who own it are from USA, they just use chain of companies to make it looks like it is Ukranian. And Russians obviosly doesn't like it, so all this war is pure proxy war between Russia and USA. And USA doesn't need peace, they need war to make money, also they make Russia weaker
Nothing in this video about the joint development programme for Common Armoured Vehicle Systems (CAVS), the new Patria 6x6 vehicle, which will not (either) change the battlefield forever but is a welcome and affordable (~$1m) upgrade to battlefield
Finland ~130 units ordered, considering 30 more (2023-)
Latvia ~200 units ordered (2021-2029)
Sweden ~340 units ordered (2023-2030)
Germany ~considering ordering 1000 units
Patria 6x6 is primarily designed for battle taxi role (APC), and can carry up to 10 soldiers in the rear plus crew of 2 (driver+commander) in the front. 3rd crew member is optional (gunner)
Patria 6x6 has STANAG 4569 lvl K2 ballistic and mine protection, which means protection against 7.62mm, 6kg mine or 155mm artillery at 80m. The protection can be upgraded to STANAG 4569 K4 (14.5mm, 10kg mine or 155mm artillery at 30m)
The max speed of Patria 6x6 is 100km/h (60mph) on land and 8km/h (5 mph) in water. Operational range is ~700km (430mi)
Patria 6x6 is equipped with remote controlled PROTECTOR RS4 (by Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace), which meets day, night and LRF requirements and can be integrated with 5.56mm (e.g. M249), 6.62mm (e.g. M240), 7.62mm (e.g. M134 minigun), 12.7mm (e.g. Browning M2), 40mm grenade launcher and/or ATGM.
Patria 6x6 is also suitable to be configured for other combat support roles, such as Company Command vehicle, Medical Evacuation vehicle, Heavy APC (25mm/30mm remote weapon), and of course the 120 mm Patria Nemo mortar system.
welcome and affordable..
@@jefreyjefrey6349 yes, considering the 10-year-old 8-wheel Patria AMV XP in the video is ~$4.5m, I think a new 6-wheel vehicle for $1m is quite affordable. Let me give you an example: with $1bn, you'll get 222 Patria AMV XP or 1000 Patria 6x6. Which means either 2220 or 10000 troops on battlefield for the same price.
Strike hard and move fast, tuli ja liike. A long standing FDF doctrine.
Great job . What a beautiful piece of machinery . Well done Finland
I think Patria would be an ideal platform for the New Zealand Army.
Why?
@@MFitz12 MFitz12 is a Putin asslicking troll just so you know!
I'm not sure it would be very suitable for use IN New Zealand as it's really more designed for the European & Sub-Arctic terrain. As far as I know, New Zealand is much warmer with a higher humidity than those areas. It looks like it has been well designed for the terrains that Finland has experience with but I'm not so sure of it's usability inside New Zealand.
@@EvilDaveCanada - Patria AMV has seen combat in Afghanistan and is in use in the Gulf. Also deployed of course in Poland and now Japan. It works just fine in any temperatures humans can tolerate.
@@MFitz12I knew from the video about its use in the Middle East but isn't New Zealand more humid & swampy than Europe & the Middle East? Never been there so I don't have any 1st hand experience so I could be totally wrong. I seem to remember something about the humid winds coming in from below Australia and condensing as it goes up & over the mountains on New Zealand's west coast. That is what I was basing my thoughts on.
Great demo on the insanely versatile Patria AMV.
Im sure u can have it delivered with a surround Genelec soundsystem. The battlefield of tomorrow needs pumping heavy beats that elevate the drifting experience
Vatnik tears
Patria vehicles and systems are something we finns should be very proud of. Patria amos and nemo as very modern weapon systems and their vehicles proved exellent as what they meant to be.
The headline of this video is a little bit exaggerated.....
Indeed, without proper drone protection systems these vehicles are basically already obsolete. Near peer warfare has massively changed the last 2 years and you don't see any of that represented in these designs.
I think after Russian-Ukraine war it will be all about how fast can we produce a weapon and how much ammunition we can give to it and repeat at leas 2x... Gone are the days when you get a flag ship weapon that can change the mammuth of interdependencies that is the neomodern war...
@@DrrolfskiAPC's still offer you protection from artillery, small arms, AGL's and so on. If you integrated systems like slinger or similar you'd easily quadruple the cost. It's probably simpler to create separate drone defense systems to escort IFV's, MBT's, APC's and so on.
@@matteusvirtanen392 They still should sell these things with optional anti-drone capabilities, expensive or not. Without them you cannot operate them stand alone in modern hotzones and they basically become a mobile coffin. Selling integrated solutions at least shows that you have given drone warfare proper thought as a manufacturer.

One of Finland's finest design, It's a great platform, rode in one a few years ago. There are other powertrain options not mentioned; that was one of the early complaints torque to weight ratio but there's a few 1000+HP/1100 lb/tq options avail.
These vehicles need protection from kamikaze drones, something people weren’t aware of even a couple of years ago. The war in Ukraine is an eye opener.
All vehicles need.
I think that's what the Electronic Warfare model is for
yeah best one
Sounds like a sales brochure.
It might be...
With Finland part of NATO now, they have a good foot in the door to sell to other European NATO members.
Especially with the possibility of #45 getting back into the W House where he might pull the US out of NATO.
If he does that, I can't see any remaining NATO members making any new military purchases from any US companies.
Sweden & Finland have massive experience making military equipment, and the EU would be more inclined to keep their money in Europe than going to the US.
I want one. It will make driving to work so much easier.
Interesting. Looks good.
If your battle-group is supported by a battery of SPGs, is there any need for the mortar version?
Mahtavaa tuotekehitystä!

I think the only thing changed battlefield forever is the way drones is being used, compared to how it was before Russia invaded Ukraine...
They surely affects Ukraine's battle fields but Western militaries for example has had counter measures against drones for decades now, so they are not that special before AI gets developed far enough.
Where do you need tanks anymore? These AMV's outscore tanks in many aspects. Though there are places for both, I think in modern warfare these highly equipped, fast going AMV's with tons of protection and support could be better option to battlefield. Nearly a 100km/h speed, can drive in tough terrains, variable equipment, no fear of turret's blasting away, no unnecessary weak spots like in tanks in terms of what we've seen with drones attacking the tanks. Ofc it can only handle smaller fire eg. RPG's, 30mm's etc, but still. Nice job.
if its anythingg like the older xa-180 then it shouldnt be anywhere near a battle. even a 12.7 round can go through a 180 in certain places. yeah you dont need to worry about turrets blasting away since the commander doesnt even have any protection. just put another guy on the gun since commander got sniped as soonn as they saw the enemies.
The old crappy RPG-7 warhead - PG-7V can pierce up to 400mm of rolled steel armour - it's not a "smaller fire". A battle-ready Patria AMV needs an additional composite armour set consisting of HHS, ceramics and aluminium modules and a light netting type of "cage armour" like the one fitted on a Polish KTO Rosomak in Afghanistan.
The interior covered the Dyneema panels. The setup provided vehicle protection which exceeds the STANAG 4569 norm - level IV from all sides and level V in a 120° arc up front.
Measured protection equivalent varied from 300mm to 500mm+ (angled) of RHA. Estimated frontal protection against Soviet 2A42 30mm autocannon (-ish).
The "Polish AMVs" took 12,7mm and 14,5mm rounds, the regular PG-7/PG-7Vs, a Chinese version of PG-7VS and PG-VL without penetration of the hull.
Patria AMV/KTO Rosomak is a mainstream vehicle. Yet, somehow proved to be an insanely resilient beast. In Afghanistan, the 50kg anti-tank IED rocked the entire 26 tonnes IFV above the ground.
One crew member was heavily wounded rest of the troopers survived with minor fractures and wounds. The vehicle lost one wheel (with suspension). Another damaged wheel was facing sideways during travel back to the Polish FOB.
Every APC and tank is extremely vulnerable to lowcost drones right now. They should focus on finding the solution for that.
Cope cage new meta.
An MGS model, are Finland planning to build something to surpass.......a Metal Gear?........Do they know something we don't?
Its capacities are Not in "Tones" but TONS. Pretty cool system of vehicle types.
Also, kph is not used, but km/h
More than anything else, he looks the coolest out of 8x8.
Wa...was that a CV90 120mm smooth borr tower on Patria?
Belgian Cockerill Turret
Leonardo Hitfac 120mm turret.
This should be an RV as well… maybe Winnebago could do the interior.
As we've seen in current wars the top armour and plating is till not effective. The hatches and top platform is still made of a very thin steel plate and looks like 10milimeters which is not enough by far. Drones changed the whole concept of taking out enemy armour.
Drones can destroy heaviest tanks. The trick is not to be hit by a drone.
I skimmed through the whole video to find the title, saw nothing....

@@marcopoolio Pricing propably. Patria 8x8 is the Rolls Royce of it's class. 6x6 is the mass variant.
Germany already has the Boxer IFV, which is 8x8. Sweden does operate this AMV. In fact Sweden has more of them than Finland. Patria 6x6 is a lighter APC (whereas AMV is often an IFV) with less protection but can be otherwise more convenient for less risky situations, so its role can be a bit different from AMV. It's convenient to have both. Just like Poland, if Germany truly ends up choosing Patria 6x6, it's going to manufacture them in their own factories, just like Poland did with AMV and Japan will. I wouldn't count my chicken before they hatch, though. I'm sure Rheinmetall still has plenty of plans and bribed politicians in its pockets to change the German decision. Australia was also considering AMV, but chose Boxer. The UK was considering AMV, but chose Boxer. Rheinmetall is a master in this game, so it would be surprising if it lost on its home turf.
Probably ok. Probably won't change the battlefield very much.

In service; 2004-present
In military standards it's new. Military vehicles aren't like iPhones.
Clickbait. The vehicle is old news at this point. And it does nothing new or exiting, it's just a good multirole platform. It wont change the battlefield but you might see a reduction in the usage of towed mortars. But it's not a complete replacement for towed mortars since you can get like 10-20 mortars with the price of 1 NEMO, maybe even more.
It depends on a terrain and where/how it is used on the battlefield and with what equipment. Clickbait-ish sales pitch title maybe but the vehicle is very useful against ruskies especially on Finnish terrain.

What Patria missed is an electronic warfare version , other than the version shown. This is from hard lessons recently learned in Ukraine. This ECM version is dedicated to drones. It will try to jam drone control signals, and have a small guided multi barrel mini gun of small caliber, maybe even as small as 556 just for drones. (or even rim fired 22 WMR) This vehicle will accompany any movement of more than 2,3 other vehicles.
Given that you can mount pretty much any weapon system you want to it it didn't miss it, with all the monitoring etc. systems and then there is also the fact that these things can be linked to all other systems in the military, it is far from blind or toothless against drones.
