There is so much wrong information here. Star car is still in Business, Sealed batteries such as AGM or Lithium last just as long if not longer than flooded batteries. If the cart has a one piece windshield it can be changed out. EV Carts can ride smoother than a regular golf cart and good ones have 4 wheel Hydraulic Disk brakes versus only 2 rear brakes on a golf cart. this is some terrible advice here.

Star Cart is local to me in Simpsonville SC, just did a huge plant addition last year.

Star Carts are going strong and if you live on the east coast you can get parts in 1 to 2 days. They are based out of Simpsonville, SC and have been in business since 2001. The Classic series has been there since the beginning and is considered the best bang for your buck on the purchase of the new cart period. They offer 3 different levels with the highest going for approx.. 15k and loaded with all the goodies that price range holds. Bad information given here.

@1:41 what do you mean that you don’t have a 2 piece windshield to fit the diameter of the one piece windshield? Odd choice of words.

am i going to pass up a super nice golf cart because it has a full wind screen? i can simply get a different wind screen

First thing I look at is the frame around the batterys. If its all corroded or rusted out, walk away. Drive it. If its full blast when you take off, your relays are usually fried, if it'san older one that's not solid state. Brakes, tires windshield, can all be replaced reasonably.

I made and put a screen on the upper part of the window, tired of the bugs. Attach from inside and two piece window still works..

Star car is a bust?? What?? In FL they are popular. No mention of Lithium batteries?? They are sealed and last a lot longer than those Trojans that may make 3 years if you live where it gets hot. Strange video...very strange. Also, you can get a 2 piece windshield to replace a 1 piece.

Does anyone know why they use 8V batteries, instead of 12v batteries? Who the hell uses 8V batteries? 6X8V=48V, and 4X12V=48V. Why can't they use 12V (or 6v) batteries? 12V (or 6v) batteries are available everywhere, and you don't have to pay an arm & a leg for them. What voltage is the rest of the system? Are the lights and horn (and everything else) also 48V?
I'm a mechanic myself and have no use for dealers, except for parts & accessories.
I want to know why these vehicles are limited to "golf carts". These would make good utility vehicles, if you could put a trailer hitch on them, or take off the back seat and put on a truck bed. I want to find out more about accessories and parts available for them.
Who trains the dealers? The manufacturer? All I need is a shop manual, available parts, and some good pre-purchase info. Why can't I find any of that?

my biggest piece of advice is that if your buying from a private sellar is to get it inspected by a professional before purchasing. with the increase in price of golfcarts due to lack of supply people have been taking advantage of others not knowing what to look for. ive seen about a dozen this year and it really sucks to break the news to someone that the golf cart they just bought needs 3000-5000$ worth of work.

What in the world would make it cost that much in repair..please break it down..flood carts might cost that much..

@@thedbcooperforum important parts like controller, batteries, differentials are very expensive for golfcarts. everyone, like you, assumes that because they are small parts dont cost anything and everything takes 5mins to accomplish. but thats not true

....ok....wow..... . Um, no. The first thing you look at in a used golf cart is the age and condition of the batteries. Don't listen to a salesman for mechanic advice. DRIVE THE CART BEFORE YOU BUY IT! Everyone is particular about different things, get the issues resolved before accepting the cart.

Can’t change the one piece windshield for a two piece? That’s a lie. When you buy a new cart, you can literally custom the accessories on the whole cart. This guy is not the smartest…..

Don't buy electric if you want something reliable. I've had the same Club Car DS gas for 20 yrs with almost zero problems. I just replaced the starter battery this year. The last time I replaced it was 17yrs ago. Yea, screw the electric carts. Dime a dozen out there for a reason.
