    This is honestly a great video, but it'd be much more helpful had you shown how to get out stains that have been sitting for a while. It's easy to get out fresh stains while they're still wet, but much harder if they've just dried or have sat a while.

      He bought a Bissel type of portable carpet cleaner for 25 bucks. Its not a commercial steam cleaner unit or anything close. You can see him using a commercial unit in other videos. I think he was just saying you can get by with a piece of crap shampooer while doing entry level work for a while.

    Just found your videos and I'm now binge watching. When my kids were little we had a minivan, and every year right before fall I would take the back seats out, and use a roll of that stick on carpet protector that model homes use to protect the carpet when ppl are walking around the homes. My carpet always looked brand new come Spring time.

    Loved how you showed us 4 different techniques. Gives us different options on different budgets. Awesome. My husband and I have a Navigator and 4 kids ranging from 13-1. Our car is scary. Lol. We look at each other sometimes and say” how is it possible they can make this kind of a mess. And question what a lot of things in our carpet are. Lol. We appreciate you sharing. Always love these videos. Much love from 6breakingloose 💜

    I've used all these methods before that you've shown, and tried a lot of different chemicals over the years, and the best way is definitely with some sort of extraction in one form or another, with a shop vac or dedicated extractor. As for chemicals, that resolve definitely sucks. I go with a low foaming / low residue CRI certified spotter most of the time, and always rinse. Except for the nastiest of stains, I go at it with super clean full strength if I really need a heavy hitter. Great video and thanks for sharing!

    • @TonysDetailedTouch89

      I must agree! Yes it would've been better if it were a set in stain. I would prefer La's Totally Awesome products. Their Laundry pre-wash creates awesome results (Along with a little skills) and it's just a buck. I must add; If you're going to be an car enthusiast or detailing cars for a Living, please Invest in an extractor. It can be or not be used. I would go new, because you would have limited warranty or full coverage....... A Vaccum, Warm water, agitator (scrub brush), degreaser, microfibers and some common sense.I Hope you all get your set in stains out!!!

    In my experience (car detailer) spray an all purpose cleaner, go over it with a brush, either use the extractor to clean it or a combination of steam cleaner and wet vacuum, then dry it all off with a microfibre cloth. You’ll get the best results and under 5-10 minutes depending on how bad the stain is. It’ll pick up 99% of all old or new stains.

  • @threeer02

  • @letitiawong5473
    @letitiawong5473 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Thank you for the comparison. I think you'd get better results from Dawn and Resolve if you would use much less of them on one spot. Dawn is very concentrated, so I would have used only two drops of it at the most on that one small spot with scrubbing. And then rinse and blot/smash with your cloth to soak up as much moisture as possible (repeat until you're certain no more soap remains). I've never used Resolve, but it seemed like only one spray would have been sufficient (and then blot/smash like the Dawn solution). I'm hoping that the shop vac can pull the Dawn and Resolve out as well with ample rinsing and repeating. How about that? Can you show the shop vac and Bissell LGM extract those sections too?

    Thank you for reviewing the Little Green. I picked on up at the Goodwill for $20, fixed it and sanitized it. Then tested it on my front seat in my Forester. Seemed to work. Good to know that a professional approves of a machine like the Little Green on auto detailing projects.
    Question: do you recommend always taking out seats when cleaning car seats? Or is it possible to clean them while still bolted in?

    Nice video. I have this job looming once the weather breaks and I can work outside again. A few months back, a wonderful McDonald's employee decided that fully securing the lid of the large, scalding hot coffee was optional, so naturally it went all over me, my driver's seat, and the carpet on the driver's side. Lucky for me, I wasn't burned too badly, but I was seriously annoyed. The McDonald's response was awesome though. They didn't care one damn bit. They didn't offer to clean my car or replace my coffee, not that I would let them get near me with one again. I filled out their incident report and never heard from anyone in their management team.
    I cleaned up the spill as best I could, but I think I'm gonna have to pull the driver's seat out and get in there with an extractor to do a proper job.

    My MIL shared a carpet cleaning tip that works really well. It is equal parts ammonia, 3% hydrogen peroxide, and water. It works far better than any commercial carpet cleaner, even on most set in stains. I have found it doesn't work the best on red stains that have set and dried though. Great video!

    • @pennmccullough6359
      @pennmccullough6359 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may try that recipe. I sure won't dump a boatload of Dawn anywhere that can't be put under running water. And why wouldn't you use an extractor on EVERY method that uses a liquid cleaner? The failure to do that renders the comparisons bogus, IMO. Back to Dawn, people should remember that leaving cleaning agents in a carpet is just like slathering a layer of dirt attractant on it. And how is this sodden carpet going to dry? Seems it would create a Mildew Mobile.

    You should use back and forth strokes with the extractor. Going forward and pushing down quite hard dries the base of the carpet pulling back dries the fibres of the carpet and always go slowly to ensure as much water is removed as it’s the dirt water that makes it still dirty especially when that dirt water dries

I first ditched the cleaner for Turtle all purpose interior.then I finally ditched the rags for a wet-dry 1 gallon vacuum cleaner. I also use a warm water spray bottle for rinsing. At some point I want to get a pump sprayer. 😄

    The resolve you have to let it dry and then vacuum. I was wondering if you let the espresso dry and for how long. Since you wearing the same clothes before the espresso and while cleaning I would imagine you didn't let it sit overnight. That would be the best way to test but I used a old handle from my old carpet cleaner and put it on the wet vac so it worked the same way as the carpet cleaner you bought for 25.00. The wet vac sucked the water up better than the carpet cleaning machine. I used La's Totally Awesome you can find it at most dollar stores in half or gallon size I mix it 60/40 cleaner/hot water.

    I appreciate you making this video, but I can't seem to find how to clean off carpet residue after the carpet is removed. We removed the carpet in my car to replace it, but the floor underneath it is very sticky and part of the carpet padding is stuck, and we are trying to clean it before putting new carpet in.

    It's not the same carpet as a house carpet, you could use the same chemical, but it's certainly not the same carpet. Secondly, you can remove fresh blood from white silk if you get to it right away, so pouring some espresso on carpet and cleaning it right away could be done with just water and a rag. Also, the first step of any of that would have been to blot with a dry rag first since (again) it's fresh, soak up as much as possible instead of rubbing it in and mixing it around with your fresh chemical, making it harder than it had to be.
    If you're going to spend $25 on a used extractor, expect those results. The only reason it worked that well is because (again) the espresso is fresh. All this might be good for DIY parents, maybe I misunderstood the video, but for a car enthusiast or professional, this would never fly.

    If the stain has been there for months or years, use a foaming bathroom cleaner. You won't believe how well it works. I used "Kaboom!" Some folks have used this cheap crap from the dollar store and they say it works like a dream.

    The temp of the water no longer matters when washing your hands. What matters is the friction caused by scrubbing your hands with soap.

    *warning* 6:30 avoid touching the cleaning mix with your bare hands because that could be harmful and irritating to your skin (some diy from the carpet could be bad for your skin as well). It's preferable to wear protecting gloves

    you also have to take note that if you don’t extract the cleaner product is still gonna be in the carpet so when it does get wet again it’ll re activate the cleaner (idk he said that in the video)
