Both wheels on our motor head have just broken after four months - this is exactly the repair I was thinking of, good to see it's possible - is it still going strong?
Damn..I'm now in the same boat. After four months my wheels broke off. Dyson said they will replace it as a "one time exception", which is BS, as it is clearly a manufacturing defect. But worse..it is out of stock, so they can't send me one, and I have to go through the whole support process again to get one. I was thinking of just milling out the sides and gluing in a nut on the front side with epoxy.
If they had left a bit more room in there it would be easy, or just put a nutsert in the molding. You can heat a nutsert and melt it in, but I wouldn't think that will hold from the front - let me know how you go. 2 years 'warranty' btw!...
What type of glue did you use to reset the stub? Just regular stuperglue?
Any chance you could link the nuts, bolts and washer you used please?
Hi - Great question. I added all the details in the description.

Hi - Yes a month on and no problems.
