There *should* be no love stronger, but too many people have lost their humanity and treat their children accordingly. Not every parent deserves the honor.
Some guy recommended me his channel today.. at afternoon I was listening to Spotify and saw an artist named Knox hill and thought that guy was just referring to some random rapper.. now here I am.. lol.. he is dope
I feel like him saying kim was always on the news and showing her pic wasnt from a place of hatred i feel like it was like "hailie me and your mom aint perfect but we really try to be better for you and your sisters" because he also shows her being a really good mother and talks about that christmas and the piggy bank.
Just want to add that when he said “Mama developed a habit” at 14:46 I think part of this song/personal letter to Hailie, he tries to explain to her the reality without badmouthing her mother. Part of it to protect Hailie possibly from judgement from the world and walk with shame that her mother had a bad habits. Also to protect what little dignity was left for Kim (even though she was mostly viewed in a negative light). Saying developed a habit was enough to understand, saying anymore would be like stabbing a knife into someone and twisting it around. The way it was said, there’s no anger, retaliation or motive to humiliate anyone. It was just him stating a sad reality.
@@chrisdunn2013I mean he wrote Kim before writing Mockingbird, it was also well-known he had a very bipolar relationship with Kim, they even remarried and re-divorced lol
Great reaction Knox! The bar “Papa was a rolling stone” is actually a triple - 1. Em referring to himself being on the road, 2. Em being on the cover of “Rolling Stone” magazine, 3. and the song “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” by The Temptations. 👍🏻❤️
This song still brings me to tears especially now that I’m a father Edit: I adopted a 12 year old who’s parents died when he was 5 and had been in the system for a while I honestly feel so bad for him
Growing up i always loved this song. Now sitting here at 25 as a divorded dad who doesnt get to see his kids that much, every verse justs hits home for me even more.
i wish you luck brother. im 26 and ive always wanted a kid, but with my job i can barely afford myself. but like you, this song gets me. i hope you get to see then and they understand i never understood why my mom and dad broke up. i just remember him crying as i left with her and some of my stuff and me crying. then i understood my mom was at fault.
Wow you even mentioned us „non English speaking people“ in your breakdown. Love it that you even try to make it more clear for us as you already did before. Nr. 1 reaction on TH-cam for sure best greets and all the best to you man
I relate to this song so much. It's always hit me so hard. My dad named me haylee after he was saved by eminem's music. And I was bought up surrounded by this music. My dad wasn't the best dad and I struggle with PTSD and trauma to this day because of him and this song makes me think so much about how much I love him even after all that
I was 22 in 1999 when I had my second daughter (feels!), working two crappy jobs to maintain an old crappy apartment, same haircut as Em, though I had a leopard-print dye job for a while! Lol, and my partner at the time looked kinda like Kim... Weird, I never made that connection, but some of those video clips, if I squint, seem very familiar... Keeping the food on the table with no hope of improving our lives... Until I found a way to get funding for college to get through a Computer Science program and decent job... I relate to the ups-and-downs too - every time I got a step ahead and gained a little hope, something hit and the money was gone. Realized a few years later that we were $60,000 in debt due to hidden credit cards... I took to Em’s music because of the intense hatred I felt toward my ex, who was a great mom, but no trust and no hope eroded our connection... 🥺
Was a freshman in college when this song dropped. It didn’t move me back then. But now, as a working mother of 2 kids, I can imagine how hard it was for Eminem having to juggle his success and raising his daughters. As many other working parents, I often feel guilty having to leave my kids to go to work, especially seeing my youngest (2 y.o daughter) crying and asking for me to stay. I imagine it was ten times harder for Eminem since he had to go for a long time being on tour and all that stuff. I knew it was stupid of me to watch this breakdown while waiting in doctors’ lounge, but I can’t help it. So, yeah, had to go to the restroom a couple of times to wipe my tears watching this :p Great job as always, wishing you all the best for your career and your family 🙂
I LOVE how Eminem is able to express such complex emotions in his storytelling. One song I’d really love you to cover if you get chance, just to get your perspective (you hear different instruments and layers that I’m not trained to hear at all, and doubles, triples quite often) is love the way you lie. How he puts into words that toxicity and the drive of the adrenaline surge and how one minute you worship the person and the next you want to run as fast as you can, Is something I’ve never, ever seen any artist be able to do. Xxxxxx

The Christmas presents line always gets me and I drop tears bc I’ve been there... having nothing to put under the tree or even having a tree to give my son
Knox growing up we where poor as hell at one point we live on food stamps when my father broke his back and it wasn't till I was older that I understood. My parents would go without and included skipping meals so me and my sister to eat meals they would pool their money together so we had stuff under the tree. It was hard so when I became a father I felt the same way and understood what my parents when through and now I felt sorry about that. But I do try my hardest to make sure my kids get everything and even if I go without cause to see them smile is all I need I love my kids so much and when covid hit it made it super hard but I do everything to keep that smile shining.
Man, thank you for sharing that story. I feel the same way about my kids and this song really hits home. There’s nothing we dads wouldn’t do to make our children smile and have a better life than we had it. Good luck man, take care of that family and hope you guys have a great holidays. Stay safe
I found you through your Eminem reactions and subscribed a little over a month or so ago. I'm trying to catch up on a lot of your content and just reached this reaction. Mockingbird is one of my favorites from Em. I became a parent very early in life and struggled a lot with supporting my child alone. I've empathized and sympathized with quite a bit of Eminem's parental approach. When the father re-entered the picture and became a more active part of my daughter's life, he abused that privilege by inappropriately touching her where he shouldn't and had her do the same to him. I'll let your mind fill in the blanks. Eminem's portrayal of Kim in this video makes a lot of sense when you consider their relationship, how he did, does, and will always feel about her. I loved my daughter's father wholeheartedly. A piece of me still does. We had a lot of great times together. Much like Em and Kim. However, those don't translate to parenting. Eminem even has a song, 'Bad husband', where he talks about being a good dad but not a good husband. These two aren't mutually exclusive. My daughter has seen the awful side of her own father. She knows who he is at his darkest, deepest depths. Regardless of that, I will still never bad-mouth him to her. That isn't me condoning his behavior or understanding it. It's me being the bigger person. Do I want to be? No, not always. But I want my daughter to remember that regardless of what happened or what the future holds, words matter, and they have power. If he chooses to bad-mouth me in front of her, well, that says more about his character than I think he wants. I believe that is what Em was doing here. Yes, he has torn Kim apart, but those are songs he's using to vent. This is a letter to Lainey and Hailie. He's not going to bad mouth Kim here (even though he alludes to it) because she's their mom. Kids pick up on these things. He admits to being a brat (in the politest of words) and that he didn't always do the right thing. When Hailie gets older, she'll see the good, bad, and ugly both Em and Kim did and were. That's just my takeaway when I hear this song. Kim and Em have had a horrible history. He's open about that. But in reference to his kids, he's always going to sugarcoat things, though only slightly. It is still Eminem lol.
I love your breakdown of this song and the emotions you put in the reaction. I know the love you have for your daughters and I'm pretty sure this song makes you think of them. I love you, Knox. Stay positive.

Like he said, Eminem started from the very bottom. He dropped out of high school, his relationship with Kim has never been the same, and everything else all while not being able to give Halie the childhood he wanted her to have. I could never imagine not being able to give my daughter Christmas gifts I actually bought. I myself woulda probably been passed out drunk my 11 PM.

Knox, seeing that raw emotion and break down is truly inspiring we can tell that you care, whether its the fans, or your daughters. we can tell you care and I KNOW you will do great things and you better believe that, the mocking bird will sing. ALSO the dmca is making a law you might want to look at that its basically about going to jail for copyright, just an FYI!
This was heartbreaking cos like you I have kids so it hits home but mine are in their 20s and I’m a Stan since I was 19 and I used to sing the lullaby to them. He is just a master. I’m 40 now and I will never be surprised by his abilities. Love from Ireland ❤️🇮🇪🇮🇪
I'm having a tough time here in Iran😞, Em's my only outlet, only thing that makes all this anger a bit less. Thank you for breaking it down for me knoxhill.
My daughters name is Hayley. Not because of Em but it ended up being because of Em.... Our only Daughter. Daddy's princess. I can't even relate with his words. Ugh. Mockingbird touches me it that makes sense. Such a deep track. I love Em. He's my fav.
I´m 3 years late, but as a dude who lost his father i listen to this and thinking it´s my father singing this to me, always makes me cry but always makes me feel better at the same time
Man this song always reminded and still does remind me of my dad. Our relationship is complicated and so is his with my biological mother but I grew up with him and this song embodies so many of our struggles together as he raised me and I grew up. It’s a song for the fathers and the children to me, I’d always connected so much with Hailey through this song it’s just such an emotional listen
Knox Hill my guy, Eminem just released the deluxe version of Music To Be Murdered By, so can you review Gnat? This song is the best by far in that album! 😭💯🔥

I remember overhearing my dad talking to my mom about christmas and similar shit happening like in this song. that lyric makes me tear up everytime man edit: and what em said about the piggy bank for hailey, that shit happened to my parents, literally that EXACT thing. parents were saving money in a piggy bank for my sister to go to college eventually and it was lost in a robbery. I connect with this song so much T_T
The goodness of your heart shows in this video, you are a good man KnoxHill and I applaud you for that! Thanks for the mentioning the not-american viewers x My babydaddy was the one who stole the piggybank I had for our son - we had nothing either so I can relate

This song makes me bawl every time I listen to it.
After watching enough of Knox's reactions, I've come to the conclusion that pianos are his kryptonite
This was heartbreaking cos like you I have kids so it hits home but mine are in their 20s and I’m a Stan since I was 19 and I used to sing the lullaby to them. He is just a master. I’m 40 now and I will never be surprised by his abilities. Love from Ireland ❤️🇮🇪🇮🇪
nothing better than getting a dope ass reaction from knox after a long ass exam week, hells ye
I'm having a tough time here in Iran😞, Em's my only outlet, only thing that makes all this anger a bit less. Thank you for breaking it down for me knoxhill.
You said it.... Getting Christmas gifts is a luxury! Too many take this for granted
My daughters name is Hayley. Not because of Em but it ended up being because of Em.... Our only Daughter. Daddy's princess. I can't even relate with his words. Ugh. Mockingbird touches me it that makes sense. Such a deep track. I love Em. He's my fav.
I absolutely love watching your eminem reaction videos. I really enjoy how you break the videos down for us.
React to eminem bad husband from revival. He says sorry to kim in it.
I´m 3 years late, but as a dude who lost his father i listen to this and thinking it´s my father singing this to me, always makes me cry but always makes me feel better at the same time
There is nothing more attractive than a good, devoted father.
React to Eminem's music to be murdered by side B. It dropped few hours ago !!!! Let's go!!!
This song every time make me cry! So beautiful!
Knox Hill my guy, Eminem just released the deluxe version of Music To Be Murdered By, so can you review Gnat? This song is the best by far in that album! 😭💯🔥
