Eminem is one artist that chose to be transparent with his issues. He showed us from day 1 his flaws and let us know he was human with faults like us. I believe this is why his fans have connected with him and went to war with him for so long.

Eminem got me through hard times as a kid with my parents. My husband passed a year ago from substance abuse, went missing and then we found him deceased. My 10 yr old daughter don’t understand. It’s hard watching her go through some of what I went through. Love you guys! Y’all are the best!

I love seeing people fall down the Eminem rabbit hole. Like others said "When I'm Gone" is an excellent song. "Beautiful" is one of my favorites and for whatever reason doesn't get much recognition. Once you get to his newer stuff, "Godzilla" and "Darkness" are must listens.
I was just scrolling comments and thinking the same thing about "beautiful". I'm 42 and can't believe Eminem has not only lasted but, gotten better. I know that some will disagree, so I'll say that its just my opinion, and also I font mean the songs are better necessarily, but his skills and vocabulary have gotten almost otherworldly. Like him or not, his skills combined with his longevity in a genre that compares to the running back position in the NFL, makes him the GOAT to me. Sure, there are rappers comparable in skills, and catalogs but not both.
@@kennethfleck3574 Totally agree about him getting better. He started as kind of a novelty act because he was white and had shock value with his lyrics. But over time he has become GOAT. Pretty much all his songs now have double entendres and metaphors that most other rappers can't touch. After he got sober, he really upped his game.
@@UMfan21 yeah but he was already, skill wise, one of the best, so he could have rested on his laurels and put out garbage, so for him to get sober and then improve his craft, does indeed make him the goat, as you said. One thing I always noticed is his use of phrases like "kiss my grits" in renegade or "chopped liver" in without me were phrases from my dads generation.

People tend to forget the versatility of Eminem, idk how anyone can diminish or downplay Em and his career. He literally checks off all the boxes to be a great rapper. There’s not many or if any that match the level Em has been his entire career after being in the game for 20+ years. His longevity says it all.
This is one of the first Eminem songs I learned to rap quicky ver batem. I vibed out to this song hundreds of times because I could relate with the broken family dynamic and it is a great artistic expression of him talking to his daughters.

*Em* has a younger step brother *Nathan* who his mom conceived with a guy she had an affair with. *Eminem* later ends up raising him, *Eminem* also has *3* daughters *Hailie Jade* which is his blood daughter he had with *Kim* He adopted *Mom's* twin sisters daughter *Alaina* because his sister-in-law became a homeless drug addict & a few years ago was found dead of an overdose & a couple years after that *Alaina* father was also found dead of an overdose
Lastlyn *Eminem & Kim* divorced & separated but got back together but *Kim* was already pregnant by a guy she was having an affair with. She gave birth to *Whitney* during their second marriage which lasted a few months. But instead of telling *Kim* to take this other man's child with you he adopted her & her biological father also was found dead in abandoned house just last year
Eminem actually has 3 daughters. Hailie is his biological daughter. He adopted Alaina (Laney) back in the90s. Alaina's the daugter of EM's Ex-Wife's sister, who had an addiction problem so Em decided to adopt her. He also adopted Whitney later on. She is Em's Ex-Wife's biological daughter, who she had with another man. He also had drug problems and other legal issues. Em also took legal custody for his younger brother Nathan, because their mother was also an addict.
I think many people don't know what an amazing guy he actually is. It takes a real man to do what he's done. He usually keeps his daughters out of the picture but when he talks about them, you can feel how much he loves them. He said in an interview that the most important thing is to be there for them and raise them right. He doesn't just wanna buy them things and pop up every now and then. I think it's so admirable, especially knowing he himself grew up without his father.
The more you listen to eminem the more you will learn about him. He’s been pretty honest about his life and let it all out in his music. Probably why stans like me love the dude so much. We watched him blow up, go through the traumas of fame and grow from an angry young man from a broken home into probably one of the best fathers around
