That bolt at the front of the battery at the bottom is absolutely ridiculous, wtf were vauxhall thinking put that stupid shit there

Otherwise the battery would be jumping around, but yeah it could be done more user friendly...

Needs to be there. An unsecured battery is bow an MOT failure

@@georgethetrucker150i think he meant that theres plenty more easier ways of securing the battery, why put the bolt in such an inconvenient place. The Astra used to have a bar that goes across the top of the battery which was really easy to take off.

Worked like a charm on my Opel. I did not put the lubricant you were using, however.

Glad it worked. I wish I still had the insignia, but was my fault I bought an ex rental car. Never lasted 🙃

To avoid accidental shorting, you should unplug the ground terminal before going for + terminal

Aye cheers for the video, whoever changed me battery before had just mangled the little clips so this helped me out wads.

Thanks, nice clear video and straight to the point. I used a cheapo £40 battery instead though.

I admit it was a very tricky, needed long extension socket pole.once I got bracket sort of in place and bolt lined up to hole, started to tighten it and the bracket just went into place.very tricky for some reason I did have some grazed knuckles after.

Replacement battery arrived in a charged state but did fully charge it before insertion. Takes about 15 minutes to remove casings and links. Old usually takes longer to use the correct sockets and 5 minutes to insert the new one and add the covers etc. The only difference is I used copper lube instead of petroleum jelly. For the battery holder, it is 12mm, and 9mm for the battery contacts, and 12mm for the red lead. If not 12mm 13mm (one of the two). Not going to check again. I used a long extension bar on a 1/4" socket driver

Thanks, last battery i had to change had only 2 cables, wasn't sure what i needed to remove. This black box on top what is it called?
Btw what crime is it, having the key sticking in the lock and at the same time the door open, thought this is only in Europe the case where people need to be reminded with a insane beep tone..:)

Happens with many cars now, but most you can press a knob, generally on the right stalk

I can say that my original battery is 80Ah 800A but the one I got now is 80Ah 700A but I have a Start/Stop system so maybe that depends

I have an Opel Astra K 1,4 T 150 with start and stop and it also has 80Ah/800A, it must be a standard for Opel/Vauxhall

  • @mickgalla

Why would you put Vaseline on the battery poles first then connect the terminals to the battery .not the way it's done connect the terminals to the battery out the Vaseline on after tightening.
