The entire band is so ridiculously talented and charismatic but Ambrose is totally my favourite. She should check out their performance of Iron Lung at KEXP to see a song where he just absolutely goes off.
Jess, thank you for reacting to this! I’m so stoked you liked it! Robot Stop is such a banger and I included Hot Water mainly so you could see the flute playing. Thanks again for doing the combo!
“I wanna go to their show” was also my first thought when I discovered them a few months ago. I got to see them in Kentucky last month and it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in my entire life i highly recommend checking them out if you ever get the chance!
@@alabamatubers it was so good I feel so lucky to have been there. Also I’m so glad I was introduced to geese at that show they have quickly become one of my favorites 3D country is a masterpiece.
I think it’s somewhat autobiographical about Stu and his workaholic nature. The non-stop touring. This is a reference to playing shows: I’m up here for the weirdo swam I’m the door when you come for more Other lines like: my coffin’s all I see lately. And other lines talk about his body being overworked Another reference to doing shows: Bring the spooks to the beer soaked glade The robot’s here if the robot’s paid
This mashup is awesome. Robot Stop is from their 8th album "Nonagon Infinity", and is technically the opening track but since the whole album is basically one infinite song it doesn't matter what song you start with as long as the album's on loop. The jam session in that song contains the main riff of "Hot Water", the 5th song from their 5th album "I'm In Your Mind Fuzz". No idea what it's about, but it's referenced in Robot Stop, so they go well together. King Gizzard is a very self referencial band, especially during live performances where they'll stick two or more previously unrelated songs together because they sound good together. Also, I've never really seen anybody have any sort of strong reaction to Stu's signature delay pedal tremolo thing at 9:57, so that's fun to see! While a bunch of other people have done it before him, namely John Dwyer from (Thee) Oh Sees (AKA Osees, [The] OhSees, OCS, etc.), Stu's basically made it his signature by doing it on around half of their albums, and basically all of their live performances excluding acoustic shows.
This was the first live video I saw of them and I was determined to see them live. Caught all three shows they’ve done in nyc since. Looking forward to many more.
@@walterlippmann6292 I sure was. For both shows this year I was at the very top row dead center under the main flagpole. I could see everything and everyone. It was great. But the dripping tap opener in ‘22 was one of the best concert moments of my life.
Hot Water is one of my favourite Gizzard songs, gotta love that flute. The live version is kick ass but the studio version is also really cool, very stripped back and mostly just focusing on drums + bass + flute.
Such an awesome performance, great energy and crowd into it too! Awesome reaction, I think you invented King Gizz and the Wiz Liz, but it sounds great too. Would love to see more reactions of them on here! Have an awesome day!
To me the Robot Stop lyrics are about a sense of rebellion against conformity. The lines "Loosen up, time to drop, fuck shit up, don't forget about it" suggest a desire to break free from societal expectations and have fun. The repetition of "Robot stop" can be seen as a call to break away from the robotic routine of everyday life. Another angle is the idea of humans becoming more like robots due to technological advancements.

The main flute riff of Hot Water is actually a guitar riff in Robot Stop too! And they're on different albums! Welcome to the Gizzverse :)
Love the Amby appreciation he’s dope as hell.

The TH-cam live stream of that Kentucky show was fantastic. Maybe only the Gorge stream could compete. I saw Asheville live. So good!

First time flute reactions are awesome.
Yours might be the best
One of the top live rock bands going. The recent Red Rocks shows (three shows over two days!) were incredible.
