- A Sonic Heroes Stage mod and it's huge! This Grand Metropolis stage layout is just brutal. 28 minutes to clear, with an insane amount of enemies and obstacles to get past. This mod has some other layouts to choose from as well, but this was definitely the one with the biggest changes. I might cover the other ones in the future with other characters.

Seeing this made me remember how Heroes had a really good balance between speed sections, platforming and combat. It was a really good game
Yeah, honestly if they decided to go this route again with more modern mechanics, it could work really well. Only thing i'd say is to have a little less combat in favor of more platforming.

@3rd Way there's nothing wrong with a slower paced sonic game. Not every game has to be speed all the time. The issue with heroes outside of the bad controls and repeating levels is that it doesn't flow well. Having to fly and fight damage sponges really just breaks your flow which is what I hated.
@tray pendland I totally agree with you on that. Back then I never thought the game was glitchy, just something you had to get use to lol. I loved getting the top score on all the stages for this game
So, after these years, people finaly able to make a mod for SH, where you can place Enemies, Objects and etc on different positions?

Seeing all these Eggman robots really brought back memories as of how crazy Sonic Heroes was when I was a kid.

Finally cleared the stage.
You can see vector shoving the level ups down charmy so his thunder shoot can atleast oneshot all the weak enemy's
Challenge Mode for Team Chaotix on this stage would be impossible

Here's a tip: You can use Blue Tornado or a LV.3 Homing Attack to instantly un-cap the helmeted Egg Hammers.
You can also use Lv.3 homing attack to go on poles faster.

It's just Japanese grunting. Dreamcast era Sonic game dubs have a thing about not translating the Japanese voice grunts, so you end up with stuff like Eggman saying "Yosh!," Sonic shouting "Teriaaah!" or, in this case, Knuckles saying "Shu, Ora, YAAH!"

Pretty sure he says "shoot".
Those robots aren't so intimidating once you realize you can tap the attack button without a direction as Knuckles to do a continuous punching combo that shreds through anything not reinforced against Power types.
I usually let Sonic have all three power cores.
Most enemies go down with few hits if not one.

This was amazing to watch! Sonic Heroes was one of my favorite childhood games, I would play it all the time! It feels great to know that there are ppl out there still interested in this game and are bringing it to life! Hoping for a remake one day!! ^-^
Lmfao, almost 30 mins for this level. But I understand now why some sections were removed from the final one. Tbh I love it a lot. Stages that gives you challenge like this one is what we need in modern Sonic game nowadays.
Creator of this mod needs to make brutal version of the Power Plant and connect it with this Grand Metropolis, we will got a stage for almost a hour :D
that'd be longer than Eggmanland! But yeah I agree we definitely need longer and more challenging stages. With new designs and no blocky cubes as well!

Level 3 Speed Characters can Air Dash at poles to automatically cause a tornado and homing attack shield enemies to knock the shields away and flip the turtle/wizard enemies
I still hated even at level 3 for speed formation when taking out the shield then trying to attack again you're "hurt" by the sword I'm going "I DIDN'T AIM FOR THE FREAKING SWORD HOW DID I STILL GET HURT💢"
Man, you almost set yourself up for death, by leaving your rings behind before the last two or three enemy sets. That being said, I couldn’t blame ya for working up a Team Blast like that when I saw the enemy set down there about 26:55. That aside, I’ve gone through all three of your ‘brutal stage’ videos. And I can’t even begin to imagine how many takes it would have took, between all three!

You need to learn the team blast glitch. Press the attack button and the b button at the exact same time causing the game to flip out and boost your team blast gauge by like a good third.

At a level 3 speed, you can do a Homing Attack near the pole and that will cause you to grab it as well.

If I got paid to play Sonic Heroes I'd be *THRILLED* but getting a sequel with a lot more bots & trivia platforming, & 4p multi-gameplay I think Sonic Heroes 2 will be a hit. I really enjoyed the first one!
Level 3 speed can also one shot the gold and green turtle robots.

I think just the level layout was the E3 version. Things like the objects, cannons, and robots were added in after. There's 4 options for this mod. One is called speed, and I'm guessing that's the closest to the normal e3 version.

For me it was very stressfull to watch even by the fact that i replayed that game 30+ times. I was just watching and thinking of what can I do in that situtaion and just after that I see your same solution and I'm like "Aaaw yeeeah that's mah bo-o-oy... he knows that game" :D

Really looks like a good mod! Not sure if you know this, but when you level the speed characters to 3, you can homing attack poles to grab onto them, and you can also blow enemies into the air with a homing attack since your attacks now have a tornado effect. ^-^
This is one of my top favorite Sonic games! I really hope it comes to Steam.

@@Prodigalfur Uh...no? Grand Metropolis was only the third level in this game, it should not take 20 or more minutes to complete. That would make Heroes take forever to beat, not to mention having to play the game 3 more times to unlock the final story.

This was the best Sonic game where the Egg pawns were utilized at their full potential as offensive enemies. They required strategy rather than simply spamming the homing attack.

dont touch the control stick while punching as knuckles to do a series of jabs. this kills the giant hammer robots faster. it also stops him from sliding all around so it's easier to control.
you can also make the final lv. 1-3 punch bounce on top of the robot.

Oof! I would rather play Sonic Battle and Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood over this.
However, too bad, they were for DS/Game Boy only.
I had a fun with the both. Sonic Chronicles may be challenging but teamwork is almost as good as this game you played.
Oh yeah, they need to re-make and re-do Sonic R, but also add some new features and equipments.
Sonic May be always fastest but other characters can equip to speed up, as good as Sonic. But don’t add any boost-up speed for the fast characters. If they want to balance everything.
