Thank you. My podiatrist taped my foot last week and said I could continue to tape it as needed, this is the technique she used (unlike the other ones I found online), it has made such a difference as most of the time I am pain free now. Really appreciate you sharing this technique
You can use the compression as well if you'd like but it will negate the lifting effect of the tape which is one of the main benefits. I would recommend trying the tape alone during some light activity to see how much support it gives you. Then you can add other treatments if you feel they're needed.
In about 24 hours, pain was gone! I didn’t think it was working because it was still hurting all last night. When I woke up this morning, no pain. I have walked a ton, even barefoot and stairs today, with no pain. First time in a couple months. Not gunna lie, I was super skeptical about how a $20 roll of tape could help. But, in all seriousness, you rock!
I haven’t been able to walk barefoot in so long. Forgetting to put on shoes to go to the bathroom or kitchen in the middle of the night would have me walking like a penguin. Had to go down the steps clinging the rail and one foot at a time making sure I didn’t flex my toes. This is really great.
This is neat. I'm suffering from PTTD. Combination of flat size 12 feet and hiking in wrong footware. Doing the instucted excercises, calf strenthing, stretching and isolated thunb presure/message up and down the whole tendon has really helped but im definitely giving this a try. I have an ankle brace but this seems to really aim more directly at the issue.
I'm in the marine corps and because of my small frame I find myself finally of pain during some of my training.i have even broken bones because of it. your videos are saving my life and helping me able to reenlist.
This is my second time dealing with this injury, but this time I know what it is. The day after a run where I knew I was going to have problems, I felt the arch pain again, so I looked this up, took a couple of days off running, taped it up right away, and the pain has all ready subsided substantially. Just re-taped this morning, and walking around without the tape before I retaped felt much better, but to be safe, I want to give it a little longer taped up.
Step 1: Shave your legs and feel less masculine (if male) Step 2: Apply tape, get tape stuck on fingers Step 3: Apply tape incorrectly Step 4: Apply tape correctly or repeat Step 3 Step 5: Run with tape on Step 6: Tape falls immediately off due to sweat, weather Step 7: Rip off tape and throw in trash Repeat
+hoxymoron Step 1 sucks.... I know. My recommendation would be to try the no-name brands of the tape, they've worked better for me. The "KT" brand ALWAYS comes right off - I just use the CVS or Right Aid brand and haven't had that same problem which is obviously counter-intuitive. Hope that helps.
I have had PTT for over 3 years, will this cure me? I have been trying stretching, ibuprofen, I was even prescribed orthotics. I am 15 and a size 11 foot btw. I really need help! Thanks so much(:
I am a wildland firefighter and a few weeks ago I was running and I must have pushed myself too hard and the inside of my feet and ankles started killing me. I start work in 5 weeks and cannot afford to take anymore time off training. I hiked today and the ankle pain came back pretty hard. going to try this and hope it works, and im just hoping my feet are sore and not injured.
Just applied my first KT tape for my recent diagnosis of PTT using this video. Used three strips. I usually run with compression socks and (sometimes) an ankle support. Is it overkill to still either compression socks or ankle support brace?
Great! I've been dealing with this for the last few weeks. I've been trying low dye taping for some extra arch support during normal daily activities, but I think I'll try this too. Pain seems to come and go. Hopefully I can get rid of this before too long.
He's not measuring, these are precut pieces that they produce. I don't think they make a noncut roll, so they have no reason to tell you how long. Google the measurements for KT tape!
KT Tape won't "cure" you but it can help you body heal. Many people feel instant relief when they use KT Tape for this problem. Give it a shot and let us know how it works for you!
I have problems with my anterior tibialis. How should I tape for that? I even had to take a tarsal metatarsal fusion in my left foot because of the severity and now having same problem in my right foot and need to tape it. I also have a bone spur on the top of my foot between the first and second metatarsal in the middle of my foot. Caused from the awkward way I have to walk when my anterior tibialis flares up. Please help. Thank you!
It sounds like you might need a custom application. Visit our website and go to the "ask an expert" forum and one of our pros will send you customized instructions. Let us know how it goes!
+Jean Hill He did mention adding a third tape with stretch if the 2x tapes do not provide relief. I haven't yet tried it myself, but I imagine that the standard 2x tapes provide ample support and relief. Perhaps the third tape is for those who have more acute pain and need supportive relief. This injury isn't one that typically needs supportive relief unless it's been going on for quite some time -- in which case I certainly hope auxiliary treatment has been implemented in the meantime (rest and ice promptly after exercise).
You sure you didn’t right? I’ve got PTTD. I’ve tried braces and everything’s this had the pain completely gone in less than 24 hours. I know not everything works for everyone, but it definitely did work for me. First time in months I’ve not have pain. First time in over a month I’ve walked an entire day without hobbling or penguin walking.
Man, you guys have some super tape for these videos or something. I love kt tape but the adhesive is awful! I have an horrible time getting it to stick to my skin let alone stick to the backside of the tape. I seems like it sticks perfectly in these videos but mine start to peel as I'm laying them down over the tape. I've called and asked about why the adhesive doesn't seem to be working and I was told that if the tape is stored or transported in heat, the adhesive weakens by the time the tape is purchased and used. If this is the case, climate controlled shipping and storage should be used. The last 4 rolls I've purchased, the tape will not last even a full day and I'm using the pro stuff.

Thank you very much! My husband suffers from PTTD and this procedure has helped him quite a bit.

How is your PTTD now? I’ve had it on and off (mostly on) for about two years now and can’t seem to get rid of it.
When we do our next round of videos we plan on doing much more self applied versions. Thanks for the request.
have you ever done these self application videos? where are they?
10 years later and I’m still waiting

Nina for how many days i should keep the tape?
ballet dancer+wrong landing in pointe shoes = me watching this video to tape myself before a show 🥲
TBH, the ankle stability method helped me the most with this problem.
KT tape more info? A two person operation to do the taping or Can I do it myself?
It is in the medial side of my foot on the first metatarsal not in the leg, just in my foot. Thanks again, sorry for the extra post
I'm not understanding why u would put them in inversion
Cuz in posterior tibial tendinitis u get a decresed medial arch and/or a eversed stepping
Step 1: Shave your legs and feel less masculine (if male)
Step 2: Apply tape, get tape stuck on fingers
Step 3: Apply tape incorrectly
Step 4: Apply tape correctly or repeat Step 3
Step 5: Run with tape on
Step 6: Tape falls immediately off due to sweat, weather
Step 7: Rip off tape and throw in trash
Repeat

hoxymoron
what if I use ankle compression sleeve?
How about try using a blow dryer on the tape after applying? Makes mine stick for 2-3 days
You forgot gets itchy under tape due to Long wear with build up of sweat and get itchy bumps once removed
I have had PTT for over 3 years, will this cure me? I have been trying stretching, ibuprofen, I was even prescribed orthotics. I am 15 and a size 11 foot btw. I really need help! Thanks so much(:

Does this prevent the ankle from pronating?
What is an I strip?
Price of this tape
?
It's very easy to apply KT Tape to yourself for any of the lower body applications- it get's a little tougher to reach the shoulder and back apps:)
Does this also work for tenosynovitis of the posterior tibialis tendon?

Good instruction but it would be great if you gave us a measurement for each piece of tape that you're cutting.
He's not measuring, these are precut pieces that they produce. I don't think they make a noncut roll, so they have no reason to tell you how long. Google the measurements for KT tape!
Just to give a visual differentiation between strip 1 from strip 2 and so forth.
i really needed this thank you
KT Tape won't "cure" you but it can help you body heal. Many people feel instant relief when they use KT Tape for this problem. Give it a shot and let us know how it works for you!
You should get 3-7 days out of the tape depending on your skin type and level of activity.
KT Tape more like 3-7 hours

How long can you keep this on? I get my PTT with running and the day or so following my runs.
Me having this diagnosed a while ago, re rolling my ankle and having it come back right before my meet and taping it up 😂
You're welcome. Thanks for the great post!

Hi, just wondering why he uses two different color pieces of tape ?
There's nothing different in the tape - it's just to show like a diagram of how the different pieces are applied.
Thank you for posting this video.
Why is there no stretch on the tape as there is usually on all other injuries???

alright thank you! I just ordered some online so I'll get back to you guys on how it worked for me (:
You may want to visit our "ask an expert" forum on our website. We have several clinicians to help you get the right application.
Awesome! We're glad it's working for you. Thanks for letting us know!
the first tape is so USELESS... if you don't stretch it, then why do you need it? NO FORCE
It will stretch to a degree when you release the dorsiflexion and inversion, I think is the point.
This is useless.
Waste of money. Just get yourselves an ankle brace with straps.
