Just made the egg/tortilla lunch recipe!!! Delicious!!!😋 I’m on day 1 of my 8 day cleanse and your recipes were a life saver!!! Thanks again for sharing and may God continue to bless you and your family!!!❤️
This has been my budget per family member for months. We buy fresh produce and small amounts of meat. We make our own baked goods like biscuits, tortillas and bread. We also get eggs from our chickens. From fall to spring, ALL our greens come from our garden. We can all spend less and eat better.
I'm the breadwinner & I'm facing the loss of my job/income in the coming weeks. These videos are going to be a true blessing as I try to survive on as little money as possible. God bless you!
Holy....the amount of money I waste on food is insane. Thank you so much for posting this! Some people can't come up with ideas on how to save money and still eat healthy (me, I'm some people lol). I love your videos!
Me too Hun!! She is a smart spender!! My large papa johns pizza and garlic bread and brownie pie probably cost more than a couple or 3 weeks of groceries and that food looks yummy:) i love me some pintos with jalapenos and smoked turkey neckbone and me some onions and cornbread mmmmm
I waste so much money. I'm very good at coming up with them but I have severe ADHD and just started meds for the first time a couple months ago. I wasted sooooo much of my stimulus money on premade food >_
This is so realistic for real people! Thank you soo much for sharing this. For years when I look this stuff up all I can find is outrageous recipes with a lot of food I don’t eat. Often the articles/videos include 25 extra seasonings and toppings and random stuff people who live paycheck to paycheck don’t keep in their house. This is actually realistic and helpful so thank you 😊
I love how the majority of the items you got are available on WIC. This is great for people who are out of regular money or food stamps but they have WIC.
About 20 years ago I worked at a large university. My department - all levels of staff, was placed in an experiment to create a one week menu for one person at less than $20. It had to be balanced in nutrition and filling! Many varieties of chosen food, we were all different ethnicities. A few just couldn't do it! We did this for a month AND ate our menu plan. A little creativity and willingness to COOK showed the greatest success. Very eye opening!!! All should do this at some point!!!
Wow, impressive! Growing up my mom cooked these foods daily & it was always delicious. Many years later I realized she did it because we were poor. And that she was a genius at stretching a dollar. It's great to know creative frugal cooking is not a lost art, esp among young people :)
@@slendagullyandfriends4530 Thank you!! 🙂 I remember visiting "better off" friend's houses & they had cupboards full of snack cakes, chips, sweetened cereal. Then going home & whining to my parents about not having the same goodies. They'd yell, "We're not spending *$4* on a box of cereal!! Esp when a package of pork chops (hamburger, chicken) costs the same!" The fights were horrendous - my mom's occasional delicious wonderful home baked cakes, pies & cookies completely forgotten. As a kid, shamefully, I was very irrational, selfish & thoughtless at times about appreciating my parent's efforts to take good care of us. I know better now.
When my kids were small one chicken breast lasted all week shredded. I made tacos tostadas burritos & chicken salad. You don't need very much meat . we just get use to eating that way. Same with string cheese. Back then 4/$1. they thought it was cool pulling some apart to go over their foods & save some for next day.
@@monkeybusiness1999 that's when shopping at 99c store comes in handy for occasional snacks. Ours usually had casts off from not selling well in larger stores...Von's mainly. Sometimes you can find little treasures there.
@@oreocookies7831 Yes, dollar stores are great fun :) I buy cleaning supplies, hardware items, hygiene, kitchen gadgets, gift wrap & cards from Dollar Tree. Food? A little wary. The known brand items are fine but I tend to avoid much of the lesser-known imported stuff.
Ok honestly when you was shopping at Walmart I said ok this girl is literally crazy and not making a sustainable video. Then I was totally amazed at the simple but ingenious ways you have come up with to turn a few simple items into real meals. My hats off you. FYI I'm stealing those recipes.

I beg you to go to the supermarket and buy, bread , salad produce, ham, cheese , pasta, minced beef, passata or pesto, milk, eggs, butter, porridge, and cordial.... U can probably squeeze a bag of potatoes for 50 pence for 4x jacket size potatoes, and some 2 quid chicken wings in aswell. Here's a tip... make the bread and tortillas yourself, and throw some cupcakes with carrot and oarie biscuits made with your honey xx
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you’re decades younger than me, but I’m still learning tons from you! These ideas will come in handy this month as my husband and I are trying to spend as little as possible!
Lols I know 😂 half the time I click on this kind of content it’s usually bologna sandwiches and just beans! And it’s like okay that’s gross to repeat over and over again
Whenever I’m cooking any type of beans, after the initial rinse, I cover them with at least an inch of water, bring to a good boil, cover and turn off the heat, letting them soak overnight. Rinsing the next day is optional (I don’t usually, to conserve water) They cook much quicker, because they’re already half cooked from the overnight soak.
Someone has confused you. It would behoove you to consider foods that have lower rate of glucose spiking rather than focusing on a lower carb count alone. Blueberries do cost more than bananas, but they don't spike your sugars like bananas, so trade berries for fruits like bananas and watermelon. It only takes a little bit to spruce up your oatmeal, which has a very low GI score. That is, look for the glycemic index of your foods over the carb count. Trading the wheat tortillas for corn tortillas is actually a great idea for you! Corn tortillas are not only lower on the GI index, but they are also lower in calories. They are known to digest easier, too. They have a more crumbly texture, so lightly fry in a little oil them first. Fats also slow down the absorption of sugars so that you don't get a wallop all at once. High fiber foods also slow down sugar absorption. Keep that in mind. Oatmeal has a low GI score, plus soluble fiber and beneficial compounds which may help you control your diabetes. Cinnamon is known to help with T2D as well. Eat your oatmeal with cinnamon, not guilt. Beans contain 22 percent protein (beef contains only 18 percent and eggs 13 percent protein) so they are still a great idea! The higher protein and fiber levels of beans will help you maintain good blood glucose levels. Beans are a steady, slow-burning source of energy. Plus, beans contain so many great nutrients including thiamine, manganese, potassium, and calcium. The brown rice is better than white rice, but you may want to simply be careful of the serving size. It isn’t necessary to exclude all high GI foods, provided lower GI foods are the mainstay of your diet. She refrigerates her rice, too, which will lower the amount of carbs you actually are able to digest. I don't know if it was intentional, but this lady's suggestions are actually quite good for anyone with T1D or T2D, if you just trade the bananas for a fruit that has a low or medium GI score.
Frugal by choice? So you're not like the rest of us that need to shop at Walmart, you just choose to. Got it. I don't really know why you needed to announce that.
@@nayjavu I actually stated it that way for the opposite reason. I feel incredibly grateful that I live frugally by choice after following and seeing many videos of people who do it out of necessity. I’m not insanely wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, but I have everything I need.
@@nayjavu if you're not frugal by choice, why not do something to better your situation instead of vilifying others for presumably making good decisions? I'm frugal by choice, too, because I work hard, take all the overtime and understand the value of a dollar. If you have time to criticise people on TH-cam, you're not working hard enough.
@@emusaurus Thank you, whoever you are. I’ve been very intentional about bettering my situation as well, but I haven’t forgotten the journey or the sacrifices that it’s taken to get to this better place in my financial journey. I didn’t intend for my statement to be taken as arrogance at all. I love these low spend challenges, but I also think that we need to be reminded that it’s not a fun challenge for others. It’s reality. Hugs to you!
throwback to when eggs were approximately $1.79-$1.89 a dozen. My local stores currently have them priced at $2.89-$3.19. Inflation is INSANE Edit: as of now, a dozen is $4 at my local grocery😭
I was skeptical. Until I saw you do it. Very nice! I'm blown away. This wasn't 10 bucks of crappy food. This was 10 bucks of nutrition and good flavors. Well done.
Thank you so much! And that was $10 a long time ago. I am sure this would be a lot more money now with all the inflation! Thanks so much for your positive comment😀
Fresh bread, or even a $1 loaf of French bread from walmart can be really good with beans. You can also mash them up and and spices to them to make homemade refried beans to eat with an egg on a tortilla or just with cheese and/rice on a tortilla. I always have at least one Mexican style dish after I make a pot of beans and serve them on the side.
I make the beans with a little salt and pepper and then add olives, tomatoes, canned jalapeños and onion and let it sit long enough for the "veggies" on top to get soft. (About 10 minutes.) While waiting for that, I make quesadillas with the same tortillas she used and the Great Value Fiesta blend cheese. I get a bowl of the bean soup and rip up the quesadillas over it. I call it Quesadilla Soup. It costs around $4 to make the whole pot and it's around 8 meals. Add in the tortillas and cheese, 8 meals for $8. 🙂
Living in Utah myself, every Walmart is the most beautiful Walmart. And gas stations. And dollar stores. Pretty much every place here is gorgeous with those huge mountains!
I agree. We moved from my home state Hawaii to Vegas to Utah & everyday I wake up, I look outside & thank God for blessing us with another beautiful day here in Utah. Harmon is another beautiful store - for some reason or another, it reminds me of Christmas.
2 other ideas with the same ingredients... a breakfast called migas,, cut tortillas in pieces fry and then add your eggs. Also refried bean tacos with rice for a dinner idea.
I’m glad I already know a few of these! I’ve been getting oatmeal, bananas, eggs. Also been snacking on Greek yogurt. I try to stick to a budget of $70-90 a week but I need to be more strict next month, Since I run out of food stamps by the third week. Groceries are getting expensive!! Those eggs looks so good!
I'm in New Hampshire and food prices are terrible, I try to go below $80 a week and it's hard. I know veggies are important, but meat is expensive now.
If you are able I would recommend trying to grow some of your own produce in a container garden. I have had to live on a very limited food budget before and growing our own produce helped so much. We were in an apartment, so limited space, but were able to grow tomotoes, onions, peppers, eggplants, strawberries, herbs, etc. in pots on our deck. It was a huge help. Just something you may want to try if your circumstances allow.
@melissar593 I love your comment! I just had a spinach and mixed greens salad with herbs that I harvested from my front porch container garden. If you have a hb egg or any leftover bits of cheese or meat you can add that, too. It's very filling!
When my husband left the business world to teach high school, we had to economize. So we also used eggs and beans/lentils as our protein for many meals. That was 26 years ago, and back then, our grocery store marked meat down at night. So, after the school run I would head the the grocery store and stock up on reduced meat. As long as you freeze it/or cook it right away it was fine! Great job!
@@alisonfraser3305 I just picked up some marked down chicken legs and lean ground beef this morning. With the chicken legs (generously sized) I made up 5 one serving-sized packets of chicken cacciatore for the freezer that I could just drop in my wee slow cooker. With the hamburger, I set aside 3 one pound packets to make pasta sauce, etc at a later date, then made meatloaf mix with the rest. Again, 7 generous individual servings. So 19+ servings for $20 worth of meat. Plus a big tin of crushed tomatoes, two tins of mushrooms, both bought on sale months ago, an egg, breadcrumbs, and various seasonings. #frugalfoodie
Dang. You make on the cheap actually look good. I’d eat all that. 😂 after watching this I feel bad on the amount of money we waste away on food in our household. Your hubby should be glad he has you. You are a creative genius. Awesome personality. Thanks for sharing.
You made a great effort, but you totally blew the $10 budget! I challenge you to take $10 bill cash in & try again. I also noticed that there's no meat but you did substitute eggs and beans for protein... Good job there! It's actually refreshing to see younger people attempt frugal eating plans. Some single people in dire need are awarded only $10 a MONTH for EBT (food stamps) and that's their hard limit because they have no cash to cover the extra 80 cents and would have been forced to put back a few items. The struggle is real for so many people, so I'm asking you to keep your final total Exactly at or under the goal amount. From someone who's been there... I appreciate your efforts!
@@tammieaf2712 Nitpick much? She did not fail, she is trying to help people. How about you take the time to make the video you so desperately want to see so some moron can whine about something trivial in it?
@@stonecoldpilot nah, that’s not nitpicky... it’s truth. She said $10. She spent $10.80. Budget is budget. Letting stuff like that slide leads to a lack of accountability. I don’t think Tammie said that she WASN’T helping people, either. She definitely is, but it’s still important to understand that $10 means $10. $10.00 does not equal $10.80 She even said, “I was able to stick to my $10 budget,” which is what really bothered me. She could have said, “I was able to stay super close to my $10 budget, but you can see that I just barely went over by $0.80.” She also used soy sauce, sesame seeds, and other seasonings... which was not within the $10 budget. A lot of people who are moving out on their own for the first time don’t have any seasonings or condiments stocked up. That’s how it was for me & my husband, so that recipe wouldn’t have been a possibility for us without budgeting for soy sauce lol. Just because there are errors in this video, doesn’t make it worthless. It still has value and she did an amazing job and she’s teaching people. But accountability is also an important skill to learn, especially with budgeting! 💕
Julia! Long time since I've commented, but I still go to your recipes online! I wanted to do a budget week each month and knew where I could go! I recommend you to every post I see on reddit about people needing ideas to cut their grocery budget because of your variety, attention to vitamins, easy cooking recipes, feeling full, your positivity, and I really appreciate how you don't assume people have endless spices and condiments. Thank you for being you! It's cute coming back to old videos of yours and seeing your daughter so little again 🥰
Julia, try a big can of pickled jalapeños instead of fresh. I use them everyday, one recipe or another. I cut off the stem end and the tip, then ream out the seeds with my paring knife. They really don’t taste all that pickled, just not so raw. The big can is slightly over a dollar. I empty the can into a large airtight container and refrigerate. Also, for milk I buy Nido powdered whole milk in the Latin section. Keeps in your cabinet, no refrigeration. No waste, you just mix enough for what you need. I also keep a can or two of refried beans w/green chiles, cheese and flour tortillas. When I don’t have much in the house I can always make a bean & cheese burrito - very filling. If I have some chicken leftover, I add some of that too. Can add some chopped onion.
Way more appetizing than the typical 1/2 can of tuna, 1/2 can of vegetables and 1 piece of fruit meal plans of my college days. I was proud of my thriftiness, if not my culinary skills, but you even beat me on cost.
I found recipes for different types of toast in a magazine. My favorite toast is peanut butter with green apple on top with a sprinkling of cinnamon. It’s so good
Peanut butter and banana is great too! I love bananas so I use a whole one (I do try to buy smaller ones) but you can stretch half a banana for a couple of slices of toast

Great ideas Julia! I buy a jar of Mezzetta's tamed jalapenos since I can't quite handle the heat on the fresh! One large jar lasts me a month for about $3, so if anyone else is like me, it's a good option.
Try a milder pepper. Some varieties of jalapeno (tams) are not as hot. Or anehiem maybe. I like a little more heat so Serrano peppers for me. Even hotter peppers with more kick can get the same effect if you reduce the amount in the recipe.
What, no milk on the oatmeal? You can add a bit of peanut butter in the oatmeal..it adds protein to your meal, and it tastes great. Keeps me from being hungry until lunch.
This is amazing! In Australia a dozen eggs is around $4ish (and more for organic), which converts to about $3USD. I'd have a go at $20 AUD. To go meatless for a week will definitely the budget.
I sometimes have to do the UK version of this. However, I have a pantry well stocked with basics like flour, rice, pasta, pulses and oats, plus I have an _ENORMOUS_ quantity of herbs, spices and other condiments, which makes things very easy when I'm completely brassic. Eggs are a lifesaver.

Oh! & thank you for cooking meals we would actually WANT to eat within your $10 budget! Some TH-camrs try and do this, but they include some of the grossest stuff I would never eat! 💜
One of my favorite TH-camrs recently put together an extreme menu that included several meals made from meatballs she bought at Dollar Tree. For example, she covered the meatballs with bbq sauce and served over rice with some frozen vegetables and called it a meal for 3 nights. She also served a can of chilli over instant mashed potatoes and called that two meals. Yuck! I'm sorry, but I would rather forgo the meat than eat meatballs sold at Dollar Tree or canned chili. I would say to have a staple pantry to work off of. When you have an extra $10 buy: sale canned goods, staple vegetables you cannot grow, canned meats, and whole wheat berries. The years ahead will be difficult, considering the headlines this year alone. Do not panic, prepare.
I sprinkle about a teaspoon of cinnamon on the coffee grounds before I start the coffee pot. So yummy and if your coffee is a bit bitter it helps cut that.
I made the oatmeal this morning and I couldn’t keep my toddler out of it lol. She ate half my bowl (minus the apples, she’s too young for crunchy apples) All I put in was some cinnamon lol it was SO filling! Soooo cheap for healthy, filling and quality food. I’m so impressed with what you do!

That is why when financial "gurus" tell people to go get that second or third job and don't go over how much they are spending, it is a shallow answer to how to manage money. Spending is the other side of earning. However, with earning you must give away a part for taxes. With not spending, you are saving the whole amount you are saving with no sacrifice. Additionally, when we spend, we don't think about the tax that bumps up how much we are spending. In Florida it's 7% I think. If I buy that appliance for $49.99 I don't think of it as $50 which is trap number one. Trap number two is that with tax, it comes to $53.50. If I buy it from a thrift store I might find it for $5. This is how we throw our money away. Learn to wait to get the things you want, either on sale or used.
With a family of 5 we spend soo much on groceries...*insert tears* I will have to double these ingredients for my family and try these videos out! So glad I happened across your page!

Just one tip: cook the beans in the pressure cooker for 15min and let the steam get out naturally without speeding it, you can put other veggies together too or meat
That Walmart is beautiful, just like the scenery. Your wee girl is such a cutie. What did your husband study and do now? I’d definitely have to add soy sauce. My husband loves salt. A habit I can’t break him out of. This is such a great community video right now when the middle class are also experiencing problems and really have no idea how to feed their families.
Good video. Have one suggestion- buy rolled oatmeal instead of quick. More nutrition. Can still microwave. Retiree so use flipp app to view all store ads that come out on Wednesday for me. Scout out all sale items that I need and buy those. Use coupons if available. Always cook items that can stretch into multiple meals freezing 2 servings ea container for another time. Will only keep enough out to eat twice. Do a lot of stir fried, shredded or chopped meat that can satisfy my taste for meat but not strain my budget. Example - purchase 1 rotisserie chicken. Take meat off bones. Put bones in crock pot to make stock. Use some meat for chopped chicken for dinner, some for chicken salad, some for stir fry, some for tacos and some for chicken noodle soup.
Amazing! Saw what you bought, and thought "no way"! Love it when you prove those thoughts wrong!! Everything looked great. Granny Smith's are one of my fav apples. Be well, sweet Julia - have a great week ❤

I spent total $6.14 and got fruits, oats, coconut (grated and chunks), local flatbread, noodles, vegetables in a quantity of 2.27 kg (exactly 5 pounds). The video also inspired me to clean my refrigerator which was choke-full of leftovers and excess food that I bought but never ate. Today, I had the first, fresh, self-made breakfast in a long time. I am not hungry; I am not worried, and I love this easy but nutritious meal plan for $10 a week! This video also taught me not to buy food that I like but buy only as much as I can eat in a week. Thanks so, so much, Julia!
Well thank you so very much! That is amazing feedback. I sure do appreciate all of your positive words and I am so happy to hear that you have learned so much. That means a lot to me! And thank you so very much for watching💜💜
@@JuliaPacheco Thank YOU, Julia. The rising cost of food was eating a big hole in my savings. This video helped understand the idea of healthy eating without spending too much on food. I shared this video with my nephew, and he suggested, make sprouts at home instead of buying from the store. That was another money saving idea for me! Fortunately, with rising food prices, grocery stores have also started keeping single servings for perishable items like fruits and vegetables. That has also helped me plan for just a week and eat properly within that budget. For this week, I have shopped for $12, and many of the things (like coffee, toothpaste, whole mung beans for sprouts) will last more than a week/month for me. So, the next grocery shopping will be lesser than this :) I hope you will think about making grocery + meal planning videos for those with gluten and lactose allergy. (I have both, so I substituted noodles and oats with rice noodles and cornflakes). Thanks again and look forward to your other videos.

I gotta agree with that! 👍🏼

Thank you so very much!
They really did! Especially the budget stir fry

Hi
I'm impressed! However, as a Type 2 diabetic, I must limit my carb intake. I'd love to see a grocery budget haul that limits carbs!
I was thinking the same thing because I'm on a high protein weight loss and boy is it expensive
@@pamh.5705 I had no idea about this. Thank you for that advice.
Wow I did not know that. What an amazing bit of information. Thanks so much!!
Check out Dr Mcdougall plant based diet.

Got it. I don't really know why you needed to announce that.

throwback to when eggs were approximately $1.79-$1.89 a dozen. My local stores currently have them priced at $2.89-$3.19. Inflation is INSANE

2:15 I don't know why I love it, but seeing your little one upright those quick oats I found so adorable, you're right she is a helper
@@alid6060 Good idea! Know I'll be trying this. TY! TC~

Living in Utah myself, every Walmart is the most beautiful Walmart. And gas stations. And dollar stores. Pretty much every place here is gorgeous with those huge mountains!
So true!!
I agree. We moved from my home state Hawaii to Vegas to Utah & everyday I wake up, I look outside & thank God for blessing us with another beautiful day here in Utah. Harmon is another beautiful store - for some reason or another, it reminds me of Christmas.
Agreed. I live right over the Colorado state line and Monday after picking up food I drove into Utah to take in the beauty. Just mesmerizing!
2 other ideas with the same ingredients... a breakfast called migas,, cut tortillas in pieces fry and then add your eggs. Also refried bean tacos with rice for a dinner idea.
That sounds so yummy!

I try to stick to a budget of $70-90 a week but I need to be more strict next month, Since I run out of food stamps by the third week. Groceries are getting expensive!! Those eggs looks so good!
That’s awesome Ashley. Sounds like you’re doing pretty well! Good for you with budgeting🙌🏼🙌🏼

Great job!
Thank you! And that is really awesome how your store would mark down the meat at night! Have a wonderful week :-)
Reduced meat is all the more delicious! You really feel like a mighty hunter.

$10.00 does not equal $10.80
She even said, “I was able to stick to my $10 budget,” which is what really bothered me.

Not gonna lie, that was a good view with the snow covered mountains in the background. A grand picture indeed.

Great ideas Julia! I buy a jar of Mezzetta's tamed jalapenos since I can't quite handle the heat on the fresh! One large jar lasts me a month for about $3, so if anyone else is like me, it's a good option.
Milk is another waste, A gallon is too much & a half gallon is not enough. What do you do?, keep going to get MILK & wasting GAS!
@@toosexy7955 buy powered milk. This way you only mix the amount you need. Plus it does not have to be refrigerated and will not go back.
Remove the seeds and avoid buying jalapeños with streaks. This will give you the flavor without the heat.
That is amazing to hear that you have such a large quantity of herbs spices and other essential items! That just is wonderful. Thank you so much for your positive feedback and I sure do appreciate you watching💜💜
@@JuliaPacheco i just discovered your channel! Seasoning is all, I find. "Frugal Food" around the world is pretty much the same: a regional carb, pulse, veg, and a small amount of protein, but with the right seasonings you can eat in a different country every night!
Hello! I am a college student at the moment and I've been needing some tips on easy cheap meals to make. I wanted to let you know that this video definitely helped a lot and I can't wait to make some of these dishes.
Well thank you so very much, Angela! I appreciate that feedback coming from a college student. I sure hope these recipes can help. We did this one my husband was in school😉🙌🏼
You are awesome Julia!!! I love the way you get right to the point as well as giving the exact measurements of everything you use. Most people don’t and it’s so annoying...how can one duplicate a great recipe they want to try without the measurements of the ingredients used in the recipe??? Go figure...I don’t know. Your recipes are quick, delicious, cost effective, and simple! Thank you so much for what you do👏🏽👏🏽

You are awesome! I “HATE” cooking but since I have become a subscriber to your channel, I have begun to enjoy it. I am 69 and a late bloomer!
Thank you so much Emily! I really appreciate this :-) have a blessed week😊
I am 66 and don't think that I have ever actually enjoyed cooking. But I DO enjoy good food, so it's totally worth the effort. I also am not really big on going out to eat often. Has to be a special occasion or something that I can't be bothered to make at home.
@@judyjohnson9610 I don't like cooking either, I live alone & eat less, Here in 2021, Things are too high for me to waste, I have bought eggs & they run out of date & have to be thrown out, I have econoized, I think eating is a waste of time, Always thought that...!
@@toosexy7955 Good food is one of the greatest pleasures in life. As far as eggs go, too bad you didn't live close to me. I would gladly give you a couple when you wanted them. They never go bad on me
@@judyjohnson9610 I am so glad to have been blessed with a Mom who cooked frugally, yet VERY well, and that I got to learn so much of the kitchen arts from her. I like to cook, & like my cooking, and know I'll like some of this cooking, too.! TC~
Hi from Colorado. Great job, Julia. So many people are food insecure right now. I am sure that this would help show that you can still eat deliciously on a budget. God bless.
Thank you so much Kim! Have a blessed week😊
I would love to see update on this video just to compare how much prices of each item has gone up. Thanks for the video
Wow, I love this video of great ideas. You prove a person wrong when a single person says they can't eat off of 10$. Love it.
Thank you so very much for your positive feedback here. I sure do appreciate you watching!
Very , very helpful and informative. My low budget meals normally consist of soup for days!😅 You know alot of nutritional facts. Although a garden requires alot of work and a little investment, it helped with plenty of fresh vegetables. ❤
Thank you so much! I’m so happy that you found this helpful :-) have a wonderful week!
Soup is good use of food too. Water fills you.
These are great. Thank you for giving me ideas. My youngest son will be leaving soon back to his University and it’s just me, myself and I. Thank you for giving me such great ideas. Beats expensive take out any time! You’re a gem!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you like these ideas, have a wonderful day😊💜
Holy food is insanely cheap at Walmart in the states everything you grabbed would be about $25-30 here in Canada
Australia would cost more.
Yup food is cheaper in USA.
Wow
I'm in the southern u.s. . Except for the eggs,, I was thinking everything seemed less expensive than where I live. I shopped this wkend, was shocked that a 5# bag of flour was nearly $5.
@@numbernine3436 depends on where you shop...

Thanks so much Tracy😀
Glad I found your channel! I’m expecting my first baby in May and I can’t afford to keep eating out as much as I do! Your videos are super useful as I navigate trying to become more of an adult lol✨
Congratulations on your new baby Alyssa! I sure hope that these recipes help you do more cooking at home. Thank you so much for your positive comments!😀😀
Oh! & thank you for cooking meals we would actually WANT to eat within your $10 budget! Some TH-camrs try and do this, but they include some of the grossest stuff I would never eat! 💜
This video is good because she includes some fresh produce. Most extreme budget videos don't.
I was thinking the same thing. The meals look filling and nutritional too.
What gross things? Can you give me some examples? Thx
Julia's ideas are so much more appealing.
@@diannthomas7849 I've actually tried the meatballs from DT before! My little sister wanted us to do a blindfolded taste test for her bday one year of DT foods against name brand items! While they definitely weren't the best I've ever had, they weren't the worst either surprisingly! However, covering them in BBQ sauce on top of some rice doesn't sound appealing to me even if you did use name brand products! 🤢🤷♀️🤣 That's just my opinion & like they say opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm all for trying to come up with something for dinner with items from the pantry or the DT. I've been in that position many times & it wasn't for some fun TH-cam Food Challenge, it was real life! 💜
This is amazing! Such a great video and ideas for those struggling! It's amazing how cost effective it is to eat meals with no cheese or meat.
I would say to have a staple pantry to work off of. When you have an extra $10 buy: sale canned goods, staple vegetables you cannot grow, canned meats, and whole wheat berries. The years ahead will be difficult, considering the headlines this year alone. Do not panic, prepare.
For budget eating you really can’t go wrong with rice and beans. Don’t think I’d last a week without eating potatoes though!
I sprinkle about a teaspoon of cinnamon on the coffee grounds before I start the coffee pot. So yummy and if your coffee is a bit bitter it helps cut that.
This was a great idea for a video. I have seen your other ones as well. Really nice meals for such a low cost! You are the sweetest person ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you so much Amy! I really appreciate it :-)
Omg the mountains! So beautiful. Never visited Utah, Michigander here.
Awesome as usual! Thanks for giving us so many ideas and so much variety. You’re helping us not be bored with all the cooking at home!
Thank you so much! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the ideas :-)
Hi, your channel popped up on suggested channels to watch. I just finished watching his video and I happily subscribed. Thank you!
Thank you so much and Annalisa! That means a lot to me😀
I made the oatmeal this morning and I couldn’t keep my toddler out of it lol. She ate half my bowl (minus the apples, she’s too young for crunchy apples) All I put in was some cinnamon lol it was SO filling! Soooo cheap for healthy, filling and quality food. I’m so impressed with what you do!
That is awesome!! That is definitely a win when your toddler will eat. Thank you so much for sharing that and have a wonderful rest of your week😉💜
I love that you didn’t bag the produce. I try to do the same, especially when I have one or two items. Less plastic is a big plus for the environment.
I bought a reusable netted type sack. I use one for veggies and one for fruit. It's especially great for stores with scan as you go style self checkout.
But those carts are nasty.
@@delorbb2298 Yeah but you're going to wash it before you use it anyway
@@BarbaraU Those conveyer belts are filthy...not a good idea to put food on them or the cart. Water will not kill those germs...
@@mariaadame8749 well you can use vinegar too, plus they even sell a spray specifically for produce. I think she'll be ok.
Awesome ideas!! You should make a cookbook!
She could do it on Amazon Print on Demand.... I say YES PLEASE!!!!
Thank you so much! I’m definitely trying to work on it😊
Totally agree! I'd definitely buy one!
I would buy it
I’m now obsessed with cooking my beans in the instapot. No soak and about 30 min 🤯
I have to try that!!!
@@vee6976 yes! It’s a game changer. I just rinse the beans and toss them in with whatever spices, 8 cups of water or broth and a tablespoon of oil. Works for basically ANY bean in 30 min. If they’re not done to my liking then I just do another 5 min. Garbanzos take longer like 40 min 👍🏼👍🏼
@@TMCEH yes I love cooking them in the IP as well but the soaking is for several reasons. Research the nutritional value of presoaking beans, not just pinto but any bean; especially black ones.
@@lisawaltoncarver9545 I still soak my beans, even though so many say you don't need to. And it really just takes a moment the night before to set them to soak. I also keep a few tins of various beans in the cupboard for last-minute ideas. I didn't eat a lot of beans before I got a pressure cooker. Now they make a regular appearance
Pumpkin pie spice is also good on oatmeal and canned pumpkin. I add ham bouillon for a change to all beans.
*Cries in Canadian*
Some prices:
$1 for 1 onion
$3 for a bag of carrots
$3 for corn tortias
$5 for small brown rice bag
$3 for quick oats
$3 for a dozen eggs

It's been a long time since I started watching your channel. I enjoy watching how you stretch your budget, Julia. Eggs are over $3 a dozen at my closest grocery store. Ouch.
This was a great video Julia!
Please consider doing more of these. It really helps to see options for meal while being both health & budget conscious. 💞
Thank you so much Jody! I’m so glad you enjoyed this :-) have a wonderful day!
Congrats...if you can keep that up you will eventually be very well off financially. It's not how much you make, it's how much you spend.
Exactly!!😼👏👏👏
Things are so expensive! I understand that for sure. I sure hope these can help💜💜
Hi Sarah
I buy ground beef and cut it into 3 sections. I make spaghetti, stroganoff with noodles and a 37 cents package of brown gravy and ground beef with mixed vegetables and canned tomato sauce. I also make tuna casserole with those 37 cent mac and cheese. I also make grilled cheese with tomato soup. enchiladas with rice and beans. there are alot of inexpensive meals. cornbredf with pinto beans mixed with ground beef and rice is one of my favorites. the meals I mentioned doesn't take alot of meat. hot dogs with chili and cheese and chips. hope this helps

Thank you so much Jane! I really appreciate it:) my husband helps me with my videos! Have a wonderful week😊
Food is always a blessing.
Looking forward for more friendly budget eats. We are a family of two, so it's nice to only buy what we can consume and not waste food.
What a sweet little angel.
Bless her.

Hi Julia...You always give me great ideas for meals! Love your content! Always great to see Brinley, she is such a precious lil love.
Thank you so much Linda :-)
What a pretty Walmart! I love how descriptive you are for everything you buy and I love the ideas! Your prices are pretty similar to prices by me in Wisconsin, but our eggs are usually around a $1-$1.25
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :-)
Amazing video and content! It was really an emergency when I searched and found this video. Immediately ordered everything online (changed eggs to sprouts because I am a vegetarian).
So, the next grocery shopping will be lesser than this :)
I hope you will think about making grocery + meal planning videos for those with gluten and lactose allergy. (I have both, so I substituted noodles and oats with rice noodles and cornflakes).
Thanks again and look forward to your other videos.
