Julia, just want to let you know one grocery lifehack: take a minute to put couple of those bags of potatoes on a scale (they always have them in a produce aisle), you might found heavier bags with more potatoes in them. It also applicable to any type of bagged produce!

Julia, I just want to really let you know that you are making such an impact on people’s lives with these videos. You taking the time to do it, plan it, film it, etc. is helping SO many people, including myself, and I (and countless others) are so unbelievably thankful for you continuing to make these. These are beyond TH-cam videos, they’re lifesaving tools. I see some others on TH-cam trying to do similar videos, but they either aren’t as dirt cheap as these, or they’re not as accessible as your videos, etc. Yours have an insane amount of value, and for that you’re really the only one that I follow for these. I am neurodivergent so cooking is hard and planning meals is hard for me, but the way you structure the videos, show every step, and tailor them to easy/no-stress solutions is so neurodivergent-friendly.
Sort of a long comment but I just want you to know how many people truly appreciate what you do and how live-saving it is for many people who are struggling to put food on the table.

But they do make some nice meals. I remember the video of remembering clara on youtube when she passed. Super sad but she lives on in the work she did and that her grandson documented. Hate to say it like this, but we are treading that slippery slope again, and many are going to be trapped on it shortly. Be safe where ever you are. Thanks for the comment. Or cornbread on the side
Plus eat eggs daily & beans daily
U could use pasta for rice too but pasta is like white bread, no nutrition and sharply spikes ur insulin from the blood sugar spike then crash. Insulin, sadly, does not fall. Then u get sooo obese 🥺

How did I not figure out this technique earlier in my life? I love the mom tips! I love watching the budget and grocery challenges. As a Canadian in a rural town that's an hour away from a walmart, 2 hrs costsco etc I am always curious to compare grocery prices. I took into account the size of the items you were purchasing. In my town those groceries would cost me $76.60 Canadian or approx. $56.69 USD. I spend approx $175-225 a week on groceries for 2 of us. but i am always looking for more ways to save on the bill so thanks for the great content :)

I want to add to your list too if you may: rice, it is great in every way possible! As a middle eastern, it is a stable + very filling! You can make rice with tuna casserole OR rice with frozen viggies or rice with chicken or meat or even with nothing and have a side dish like a Soup or stou/ gravy. Cooking rice is easy, we use long rice "basmati" and you need ratio 2:1 "more water than the rice"
Here is saudi we masure the rice quantity throu small cups 60ml and use 1 small cup per person or 2 small cups 120 ml per person ( depends on your appetite )
Personally i make rice as following : stir onion with dash if olive oil "i use one onion ) then add 1 medium tomato and continue to stir till it gave out all its water, then add the rice ( i use 3 scope of the "1/3 measuring cup" after moving the rice for a minute i add the water "enough to be higher than the rice with 1 or 2 com" add a chicken stock cube and move it a little rill it dissolve then add som frozen veggies.
Leave it on high till the rice show up the leave in on low for 20 mints . Add drops of water if you feel that rice is too dry. And viola ✨ any extra rice can be used to make maqloba or upside-down / or even fried rice✨. And it taste great if leave for the next day

At first I thought you meant 70 dinners that fed four people for $25. Then I realized a "meal" is what I call a serving 😃

Elizabeth, I agree with your statement. The recipes sound tasty/cheap, however, one serving is not going to satisfy
hubby and 2 growing boys. Guess I'll open a can of store brand applesauce w/cinnamon or as my friend's Mother
used up a 20# bag of rice/ vegs/fished locally at Lake Erie. Haven't seen many Asian chubby folks. God bless them.

my whole family practically survived off of “taco mac” (box mac, can of diced tomatoes, ground beef, taco szning) & “tuna mac with peas” (pretty name accurate😂 canned tuna, frozen or canned peas, box mac). still crave them to this day 😊.

Don’t throw fat away only to need to add some for a later dish. I have a small skillet I brown fatty foods in and transfer the meat to my main pot. Either scrape fat into grease can or cover and refrigerate pan to use in a day or so for sautéed onions, etc.

You motivate and help so many of us, that just want to save money, to feed our families. Thank you so much. I cook everyday for my three sons and my husband, they can eat lol. So I usually go to the food pantrys, and go to Costco once a month, and buy certain cheap items and snacks. The snacks last the month, so it’s worth it, and the meat, tortillas, cheese, eggs, veggies are good prices there too. And Dollar Tree us pretty good too, for snacks, desserts, cereal, canned goods, etc…
