Im sorry but.. everything you make is slop. .Try some breaded fried eggplant.. eggplant parm. with the leftovers., biscuits and honey. baked mac and cheese..$3 /3 meals. scrambled eggs with can of mixed veggies very tasty Macaron tuna salad
You are very creative! This is a nice list. I have never been good at soup so I buy cans your recipes will make a big difference for me and my family. It’s a great option and I can control the amount of sodium. Thanks for sharing!
To people in the comments saying you could make this cheaper homemade without buying canned sauce: Time is just as valuable a resource as money and for many families everybody is working and nobody has time 2 make homemade sauces. What I appreciate about this channel is that Julia is using ready-made ingredients that are cheap. Because that is what I have the energy to make. I do not have the energy to make my own enchilada sauce. If you want to make things from scratch there are plenty of channels that will tell you how to do that But as someone who is disabled and works full times and Has very little energy left to take care of myself. These are the kinds of recipes that are useful to me
I sure do appreciate you offering that perspective. Thank you so very much for your positive comment and we definitely all have our own challenges! I’m happy to hear that my ideas and recipes work so well for you. You take care of yourself and thank you so very much for your loyal support here😉🙌🏼🙌🏼
I’m watching this 3 months after you’ve posted and almost all the grocery prices are 20-40 cents more expensive…thank you for this video Julia. I never thought I’d be in a situation where I’d have trouble feeding my family and these videos have been a life saver for me this month.
Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry to hear that prices have gone up that much! When I do these videos it really is shocking to me too. I’m happy to hear that these ideas will help you and you’re a great mama trying to figure out how to make good meals for that family of yours💜🙌🏼🙌🏼
Not only that but if you are gonna add avocado, tomatoes and sour cream that's gonna hike the price up quite a bit....and that's with anything on this liat that you a little more flavor to
Same, my husband makes damn good money, 5 years ago we would be considered upper middle class but now it seems to be lower middle class and i get scared cause every week my groceries get more expensive 😢
I went shopping this week and prices were exactly as why you said for San Diego California. I did have to spend extra time to hunt some stuff down but ended up finding pretty much all of it for the 20+ recipes..except pinto beans and went with refried pinto beans instead. These meals are life saving and easy to make so ty Julia.
@@corywinters yes sir! Keep grinding my man. We are a rare breed and there needs to be more men who step up. I’m here if you need support. Let me know how the results go, hopefully the kiddos enjoy them
For those of you who dont buy nonstick but have butter around, my grandmother would save butter wrappers and use them to grease pans! (I grew up doing this to grease and flour cake pans)
Girl! Homemade enchilada sauce is a GAME CHANGER. It costs pennies rather than $1 a can. And its super easy to make. It takes me less than 10 minutes to make it. It's very similar to making gravy from scratch so it's cheap and easy. I love your videos I just wanted to let you know you can go even cheaper by making it at home.
Oh my goodness! I am so happy to hear that I can help you so much. Thank you so very much for your great support and I hope your college year is going well, Lilly💜💜
Well julia, like always, my bf heard your voice and came running! "New meal plan just dropped!" Is what he yelled out while running through the house lol. He loves your food and so do i! Killing the budget meal plan game, girl!!! Thank you for all the work you do ❤
That is so funny! I just love that! Thank you so much for sharing that with me. And I really do appreciate you and your boyfriend here with your loyal support every week🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great job, retired mother who has two children presently unemployed and a school aged grandson living with me. Just came across your video and I am very impressed being a frugal young woman not wasteful.
Thank you so very much. I hope that some of these ideas can help. It’s so great that your kids have a place to be. Thank you so much for your support💜💜
God bless this woman. She’s been feeding me during my broke times and she’s been feeding me during my depression times. I genuinely have relied on these recipes for years.
Oh my goodness. I am really happy to hear that my recipes have helped you in someway. I am so very sorry to hear that you’ve been struggling so much financially. Please know how much your support means to me! I really do appreciate our TH-cam friendship here and I’m so happy to have you as one of my viewers🙌🏼
Wow! Thank you. Just remember, the amount you spend eating out can feed you 25 times over if spent wisely. This is a great video for many low income, or young adults trying to feed their babies.
I remember currently 1 to 2 meals per takeout is about £15 to £30 usually mid to upper range and eating that alot really affects health and mentality not just the wallet (always ran out of meal ideas then gave into the useual cravings to then have low money and feel worse) Theese meals not only make your body feel good after eating instead of sluggish or sick but they cost mere fractions Please don't stop teaching others how to cook (live and thrive instead of just survive) I will always keep an eye out for new recipes thankyou :)
I made so many of these the past 7 days and am so grateful! It's not often our family of 6 is satisfied. Too many picky eaters and some of us are on the spectrum. These recipes were bangers and it was so nice to hear the kids be happy. Not only were they yummy and cheaper, they were less time consuming and easy enough for my non chef husband to do.Thank you for putting these out there!
Well thank you so very much! You are the best! I sure do appreciate all that positive feedback and most importantly, it means the world to me to know that everybody in your family enjoys my recipes so much. I can imagine how difficult it is to have children who are on the spectrum and try to figure out what meals will work best.💜🙏 it’s so very difficult! Kids can be so darn picky. Thank you so very much again and I really do hope you enjoy some of my other recipes too, Lexy!!
Can I just say how much I appreciate your taking the time out of what must be a very busy schedule with your family to actually respond to comments on your channel. So many don’t and it can leave their viewers feeling unappreciated or ignored. You not only take the time to respond but you tailor each response according to each comment! You’re a rare gem in the world of YT. 💎 Can I also say that in all of my years watching YT, I’ve never felt inspired to donate. You’re the first one. And I feel God put it on my heart to do so. May He richly bless you and yours. 🙏🏻✝️🙌🏻
Oh my goodness! I sure do appreciate you sharing that with me. I do try to read as many of my comments as I can. I truly do you love and appreciate all of my viewers! Thank you so very much for your continued support and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week💜💜
I agree with the your comment especially the responding part. I hate when someone asks a question on other sites and they get no response. I love Julia too.
Julia, many thanks for this very timely video. My boss passed away recently and after 25 wonderful years, I’m out of work in addition to losing the best boss EVER! I cook for three adults and I’ll be needing to watch my finances and make tasty dishes. Thanks again for your help! 🥰
There is a lot of love in you. I don't personally know you, but I know a loving soul when I hear one, or in this case, read one. I've sent a special prayer for God's highest love to bless you. Up ahead, another wonderful chapter of your life awaits, and those that you care for.
Oh my goodness, Jane. I am so so very sorry to hear that! That is so difficult I am sure. I hope that you are able to get a new job soon and that these ideas help you with the other adults in your home. Thank you so very much for watching and you take care of yourself💜💜🙏
Where have you been all my life!! These are so cheap and easy and it’s all right there w a video. I don’t even have to meal plan anything!! I love this so much!!! My family and I thank you!!
Thank you thank you thank you! I suffer from a chronic illness that makes it so difficult for me to cook. I'm always looking for quick and easy. Cheap is something that I thought I had to sacrifice for convenience but I'm being proven wrong! I already brought the ingredients to make four of the meals here. My husband is happy about saving money and I'm happy that these meals are so quick and easy. We can't wait to try them.
A lot of illnesses and chronic inflammation we suffer comes from the food we eat. I suggest you look into "ketogenic diets" and seriously consider taking a 30 day challenge. This diet is a very low carb, low inflammation diet and if you stick to it for 30 days not only will you feel better but you will have better taste, better smell, and better eyesight. This is called an elimination diet because it eliminates foods that harm you. After a month you can start to slowly introduce you old non keto foods back into your diet until you find out which ones don't agree with you. I found out mine was potatoes. I loved them fried with onions, mashed, French fried, and baked. I never realized they caused me to have arthritis in my hands, skin tags, and skin rashes. All of that had cleared up eating a keto diet and came right back the first week of eating potatoes again. I don't eat potatoes now and all of above has gone away but I suffered with them for years not knowing potatoes were doing that to me. I'm not saying potatoes are giving you a problem but if you feel better on keto after 30 days and you eat something that your body doesn't like your body will let you know. By knowing what foods irritate your body can save you a lifetime of suffering if you can eliminate them from your diet.
Oh my goodness! Well I am so very happy to hear that these ideas help you. I am sure that is so difficult to have to deal with a chronic illness on a daily basis. Thank you so very much for your wonderful support here and I do hope that these ideas make your meal planning a little easier. You definitely deserve it! Have a great rest of your week💜🙏
Girl. Same! I have MS fatigue and have to work. Even though I only work 4 hours a day, by the time I get home I'm so drained I barely have the energy to throw some popcorn in the microwave! My Job is mentally draining and that transfers to the physical more than people realize. Also, working only 4 hours a day doesn't really pay any bills, so it's great to have filling meals that don't break the bank!
These are terrific! I'm so glad I found you! I'm 76 and I like to make a dish and split it up and freeze it, so it's like TV dinners only cheaper! i LOVE pasta, rice & beans, so I'm super glad I found you. I like making one dish meals, and I own a casserole dish that size, a rice cooker & a slow cooker! I always shop at Walmart and that is what drew me to you. I also have lost 160 pounds and have 90 to go to my goal weight of 150 pounds. These are going to be perfect! I LOVE Mexican, Italian, and rice, pasta and beans! So glad I found you! You have a new SUB in me today! Thank you! You have excellent price listings, ingredient amounts and complete presentation. JUST what I have been ooking for!
Well thank you so very much, Diana💜I am so very glad you found me too! That’s a great idea to make a meal and divide for yourself for later. Thank you so much for your support here. I am so happy to hear that you’ve lost so much weight! Good for you! Way to go. Thank you so very much for subscribing and I sure do hope you have a great week💜🙌🏼💜
I cant digest beef, so a trick i do with ground turkey, is sprinkle a bit of powdered beef bouillon in it. Just enough to give a beef taste, but not enough to be salty 🙂
Heartfelt thanks. It is just my husband and myself and he is currently undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia and I struggle with getting him to eat as much as he needs to because he just doesn't have an appetite he is still working full time and it goes without saying that he needs to eat on chemo and since I found your channel he is loved everything and you make it so easy to follow your directions I'm not the most experienced cook I've always been terrified about making soup I thought it was a difficult process and you made it so easy I never would have been able to think about hash browns for the potato soup instead of chopping up potatoes! Also I added some ranch powder to my potato soup and it came out amazing thanks again Ml😅
Oh my goodness. I am so very sorry to hear that he has leukemia🙏 I really am so happy to hear that he enjoys my recipes and that you feel so much more successful as a cook! That is just wonderful feedback. And it really does make my day. I hope you know that! Thank you so very much again and I really do appreciate your wonderful support here I hope you both take care of yourselves🙏💜🙏
Add some of the pasta water after the pasta is done to jars of sauce to get the last bit of sauce out. Let it cool a bit before shaking the jar and open slowly afterwards. The salt and starch in the pasta water is great and also helps thicken. Pasta water is also great to use when making homemade bread.
Wow! I didn’t know that about pasta water. I appreciate you sharing that tip about making bread with it. I do typically rinse out my jars of pasta sauce with water, but sometimes in my videos I am going to fast and don’t do it. I appreciate you watching🙌🏼🙌🏼
Oh my goodness. Thank you so very much for your wonderful feedback, Stephanie. I am so very happy to hear that I am your favorite! I hope these ideas help and thank you so very much again💜🙌🏼💜
Julia, first of all, the girls are beautiful! Secondly, this was your most important video yet! People are really struggling, these recipes are a Lifesaver!!! Love ya!!
Thank you so very much. You are so very kind! And I am so happy to hear that this video is so helpful to you. Thank you so much again and have a great week💜💜
Wow, Julia! You've really outdone yourself with this one!! SO MANY great affordable dinner ideas! This is a whole month of dinners (probably more because of leftovers)! You are my hero! I'm always recommending your channel (and cookbook and website) to all my family, friends, and coworkers. You are AMAZING! ❤
Thank you so so very much, Michelle! I appreciate your loyal support and I am so grateful for you sharing my videos with others. Thank you so very much again and I hope you enjoy these recipes💜💜
Since jarred pasta sauce can be pretty pricey where I live, I've just been using a can of tomato paste mixed with the liquids from whatever canned goods I'm using, or pasta water plus seasonings. Cooking the tomato paste until it gets a bit darker gives it a deeper flavor too. Howver, the cost for a small can has gone up from 50/60 cents to $1.29!!!! And that was storebrand too 😢
It is crazy the cost of tomato paste nowadays! It used to be one of the cheapest things you could buy. Thanks so much for your great tip and I appreciate you watching, Carol💜
Hi Julia !!! Yes groceries are kind of expensive and I think the prices will get even higher before they get lower... Thank God for your videos ! You are so good at showing us how to make great delicious reasonable meals for a fraction of the cost. Thank you 😊
Thanks so very much, Patrice! I really do appreciate you sharing that and unfortunately, I am sure that is true. I appreciate your great support here and hope these recipes are tasty for you and your family💜💜
I appreciate you taking the time out to do this. I’m trying to pay off school loans and debt and a single mother so this helps out a ton thank you thank you thank you
You are awesome! Good for you. I hope some of these ideas to help you and that you were able to get on top sooner than later! I bet you are an awesome mom, Tanisha💜💜💜💜
Thank you for sharing this! I wanted to say, I used to work in a factory that processed and distributed turkey and the same turkey gets sold to several different brands. We sold to everyone from Oscar Meyer, Boars Head, and Purina as dog food fillers. Brand labels mean nothing, and seeing you use other brand alternatives was refreshing. I look forward to using your meal plans. Thank you! :)
Very interesting! Thanks so much for sharing that and I appreciate your positive feedback. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend💜💜
It's tough for everyone around the world right now. It's crazy. I am saving some of these videos. Note: a 5 Lb sack of potatoes in Arizona ranges from $2.99-$5.00 one packet of instant mashed potatoes for a $1.00 isn't cheap in my opinion. I prefer making 5-10 meals from the $5.00 sack of russets. Edit: but if $5.00 is all you have these recipes are extremely helpful.
@@Connie_From_AZYes. only how much to cook the food in electric cost, i always cook from scratch, etc. this pricing of food, I've found the cheaper food is not as healthy, if i don't have to cook it as long, elec bill is less. !!!
Thanks for these budget friendly meals! I recently cooked six of your budget friendly meals for the crockpot. They were delicious. I love your cookbook, and I enjoy watching you every Sunday morning.
Wow! That is just awesome to hear! Thanks so much for sharing that with me. I’m so happy that you enjoyed all six of those meals and are enjoying my cookbook too. You are awesome and I love your support here🙌🏼🙌🏼
Really amazing. And I love the format showing each item as you shop and prepare instead of dumping out 25 meals worth of ingredients all over the place.
Great job teaching families to cook on a budget!!! Everyone needs all the help we can get. Prices are crazy 😮 Thank you for a job well done. I love your book. 🥰 you are my recipe angel. 😇
Another great video of budget conscious meals. It is so refreshing to find a cooking channel that doesn’t use fancy ingredients or have complicated steps. I look forward to your videos every Sunday.
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing all these meal ideas. I don’t know how you have so many, but I’m grateful. I also love seeing you smile. It’s infectious! I hope you have a wonderful week, year, lifetime!
I love your videos. So many young people don't know how to cook for themselves. It seems they watch a lot of food videos, but many are not practical, time efficient, or budget friendly. Thank you for your amazing public service announcement. Many are eating well for cheap because of you.
Canadian here. The prices here are completely insane. Really trying to use what we have, and delay the grocery shopping. Adding a couple of eggs to the ramen would be yummy as well. 😊
That is a great way to go about saving money, Paula! Sorry that prices are so very high there for those of you who live in Canada. Thank you so very much for watching though and I hope some of these recipes help💜💜
I was about to comment as a Canadian myself. I'm finding it hard to feed my family full suppers here, the prices have gone insane. 8$ bricks of cheese, 4$ a dozen eggs. Potatoes are 6$ a bag. I could go on and on. Even budget meals aren't budget for us stuck here. 😞
I think my favorite one was your potato soup idea! I would have never thought of using those packets of gravy mix and the frozen potatoes with peppers for soup! Wow!! May God richly blessed you and yours. You’re doing so much to help and to inspire others! 🙏🏻🌷
Pro tip: if you buy no salt beans (or make your beans at home without adding salt), no need to drain or rinse the beans when making chili, stew, or soup. Draining and rinsing canned beans washes 2/3 of the potassium down the kitchen sink. Depending on the recipe, you could measure the bean broth in a measuring cup and use it when cooking rice or sauteeing vegetables. Example: half bean broth and half water to make rice.
Julia thank you so so much for helping struggling families and especially the elderly like me. I absolutely love when you mention how crazy egg (& everything else!) prices are getting. I mean, $3 for 6 eggs, seriously! I had to stop buying eggs when I saw a dozen at Walmart here for $7 and $10 for the pasture-raised (that I prefer because of what they're doing to our chickens omg). You are a breath of fresh air in this crazy, greedy CEOs, hungry, struggling and unhealthy country of ours. We can only do what we can do and you are a true Angel. I love your channel! You are saving SO many people, so many families. God bless you and your family. ❤
You are the sweetest ever. Thank you so very much for all of your kind words and your wonderful support here. It means so much to me and I’m so happy to hear that my recipes have helped you with your budget needs. That particular video clip with the eggs was from a while ago. Our egg prices have come down quite a bit since then. I sure do appreciate you watching and I am so grateful for your TH-cam friendship💜💜
We buy bags of dried white beans and cook them with chopped ham and water. I mash part of the beans to thicken the soup and it is delicious (We buy our ham from Costco because it is nitrate free and doesn't have chemical preservatives.) We also have started buying chicken drumsticks. They are absolutely delicious cooked in the air fryer. We marinate them in coconut aminos, honey and garlic!
mRNA has been added to pigs and sold to consumers as pork since 2018. As of 2023, our beef now has mRNA in it. All with no consumer warning food label. They figured out how to grow vegetables with mRNA injected into them but these are not yet approved for consumer consumption yet. Pork and Beef injected with mRNA are approved for human consumption You will eat your mRNA. mRNA may not be a chemical preservative - but it is worse.
I'm so so happy you made this video! I just had a major surgery so with the medical bills and going through recovery, I was going through a bunch of your cheap meal ideas videos to meal plan this week. This was seriously perfect timing and I already have a ton of these ingredients on hand. Definitely making the tamale casserole tonight! Thank you for all you do to help us!
I really do hope that you will enjoy these recipes and that they will help you heal. I hope you have a successful surgery and thank you so very much for your positive comment💜💜
I like how you can process these ingredients into affordable recipes, and how you can translate these methods so that the rest of us can actually find use for them. Especially for those of us who are heavily invested in cooking equipment. Thanks for sharing all of this!
Well thank you so very much for all of that positive feedback. It helps me so much to hear this and I’m really happy to have you here is one of my supporters. You have a great rest of your week!🙌🏼
One of my favorite casserole recipes - sooo good: 1 lb fully cooked bratwurst or Polish sausage, cut into ½-inch pieces 4 medium potatoes, cooked, peeled, and cubed 1 (16-oz) can cut green beans, drained 1 (10 ¾-oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4 oz) ½ cup onion, chopped In a 3-quart casserole, stir together the sausage, potatoes, green beans, condensed cream of mushroom soup, cheese, and onion. Bake, covered, in a 350 oven about 45 minutes or till heated through.
Of course all the amounts are to taste, so to make it a little cheaper you can use less sausage and add an extra potato, or use more or less onion or cheese!
Glad to know I'm not the only one who watches Julia with pen & paper in hand, lol. I don't always follow every recipe exactly, but I do get so much inspiration from her ideas. I'm always thinking "Now why didn't I think of that?" when watching her videos. Good stuff.😊
I wish I could send these videos back to college-age me. We had a little kitchen in our dorm and I could have eaten like a king, but I just didn't know how!
Same! Even if I didn’t have a kitchen I could have easily bought an electric skillet and crock pot and made some of these while in college. They’re so easy.
Girl...are you a magician?!?! I'm really trying to bring our food budget down, it's what we spend the most on aside from housing bills. I've started following a lot of budget cooking channels/blogs and I have to say.....your recipes are the most appetizing and give me so many spinoff ideas, too! I want to make almost every recipe in this video! Thank you for all you do! Also, your little one in the shopping cart is so adorable! God bless you and your family 🙏
That is the best positive feedback ever, Madeline! Thank you so much for sharing that with me and I’m so happy to hear that I am your favorite. That makes my day! Most importantly, I’m so happy to hear that my recipes help you and your family. Have a great rest of your weekend and please take care of yourself💜💜
Pre shreaded cheese has cornstarch added to keep the cheese from sticking together and clumping so that is why your block cheese has better flavor and removes hidden starch which is less healthy
I noticed that you didn’t use mushrooms in many dishes but they are very good for you and can be used as a meat substitute in many dishes. Also, a problem with making meals affordable can be the cost of extra things like spices, oils, condiments. I realize you don’t use much of it but some spices can be as much as the whole meal you’re cooking. I know that many stores have a $1 spice area but I’ve tested the $1 dried spices compared to the ones costing $4-$7 and there is a big difference in flavor. Fresh spices are even better and I’ve found that growing my own in a little window box is very affordable. Spices like basil and rosemary do well. Another trick I found that helps cut costs is using Italian sausage in dishes. It usually has some many spices in it already that in helps flavor the dish without adding extra spices. I hope this helps 😊 Lentils are very underrated. I have a fantastic lentil bean & cheese dip recipe that is affordable and so good. If anyone is interested in the recipe let me know and I’ll add it to my comment.
All of your comments and tips definitely do help, Dee🙌🏼 thank you so much for sharing them. And yes, I do use a lot of seasoning in most of my recipes. Growing something fresh is just a complete game changer. I do like to freeze my basil in ice cube trays with olive oil and use it that way. Thank you so very much for your great support here and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week🙌🏼🙌🏼
I tend to drain my vegetables/chicken into a measuring cup so I save any flavor and nutrients. For the Alfredo I put the petite tomatoes and shake to get all the sauce
You are an amazing young lady! You have made nutritous, delicious looking, flavorful budget minded meals that are more healthy than lots of these channels make! I just found your channel today and had to subscribe! You have made a great video that gives clear instructions and you have a very nice way of narrating it. I was a RN for almost 40yrs until a patient nearly killed me so I live on disability now and am on a tight budget, so your recipes are greatly appreciated! You really help people make better meals! Thanks so much!
Oh my goodness! Thank you so very much for subscribing. I appreciate your positive feedback so much and especially coming from a former nurse🙏 thank you so very much for all that you did! Our first responders are the best. Sorry that that happened to you. Welcome to my TH-cam family💜💜
I slice Roma tomatoes really thin to use on French bread pizza in place of tomato sauce. I don't like soggy bread. But I wasn't pre toasting the bread, which I am going to try next time.
of all the budget friendly meal idea videos I've seen, this is definitely the best. I am feeding a family of 5, all boys except myself, boy they can eat. My goal was $10 meals, so I doubled up on your ingredients, and was still able to stay within budget. Thank you.
Oh my goodness! That is awesome to hear, Jen🙌🏼🙌🏼 good for you staying in budget too! I am sure it is very expensive to feed all of those boys. Thanks so much for your positive feedback and hope everybody enjoys some of these meals💜🙌🏼💜
Another thing that’s good and easy to do in the mornings is to take some of that left over rice, warm it up in the microwave or on the stove, and have it with an over easy or medium egg or two on top. Sooo good and filling:)
I really enjoy every single one of your videos..i really love how realistic you are about sharing your life and not forgetting we're you came from that's very important..you are a inspiration of life can change for the best..good luck 🤞 in everything you set out to do in your life..you and you're beautiful family enjoy the rest of yall weekend. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Well thank you so very much for that beautiful compliment. That means so much to me! I’m happy to hear that some of these recipes seem like something you would try and I sure hope you have a great rest of your week. Thank you so much for your support💜💜
Another great video full of awesome ideas. These recipes are not just good for a budget, but also lots of ideas on what to do with the odd boxes and cans that accumulate in your cupboard over time.
Thank you for including so many gluten free recipes as well as recipes that can be easily modified to be gluten free. I’m going to try making the breakfast casserole using diced gluten free bread as a base instead of crescent roll dough and see how it turns out. I think it’s going to be great! ❤
You are so very welcome and thank you so much for sharing your positive support about that. I am often asked about gluten-free recipes and I am so happy to hear that so many of these recipes are adaptable. You have a great week and thank you so much for watching💜💜💜
I use half a can or jar of pasta sauce & put the rest into a ziploc bag with a splash of water (mixed directly in the can) and put it in the freezer for the next time we want any sort of spaghetti
Well I sure do appreciate that. Thank you so much. Your kind words mean so much to me! You have a wonderful rest of your weekend and I appreciate your great support here🙌🏼
I put it in a main comment but I use my cans that I drained of liquid over the week as my ramen broth. Canned chicken, sweet potato syrup, and mushroom water make an amazing dish. I store it for a week as my Sunday night dinner.
EASY RECIPE.... Take Any kind of pork chops put in a bake dish Put cream of Mushroom soup, overtop. Bake in oven, serve over rice or noodles. So tender and delicious.🤤🤤🤤
I did everything I was supposed to do- I went to college, got a masters degree, and I’ve had the same career for over 20 years. I don’t have credit card debt or anything like that. I never thought I would be in the financial situation that I’m in. Thank you for these videos. You are saving me. I hate cooking and I appreciate that these recipes are easy. I also enjoy the típs that you provide. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am so sorry to hear that your financial situation is not where you would like it to be. But I am glad that my ideas and recipes have helped you so much. Thank you so very much for sharing your positive feedback and I appreciate you sharing your life experience. And you’re right, it isn’t OK!💜💜
Julia, thank you so much. I love cooking and know how to cook very well, but this economy has me looking for inexpensive alternatives and different ideas for dinner. You have been an inspiration. Thank you. So far, from this video, I have make the French Bread Pizza, the potato soup and the sausage and egg casserole. With the casserole I added onions, peppers and cheese and paired it with hash brown patties. We had it for dinner last night and everyone loved it. The pizza bread was amazing! We did add some veggies to it and can’t wait to make it again. The potato soup was so easy and delicious, we paired it with some garlic bread. Thank you so much for these recipes, you’re a life saver. Tonight I’ll be making the enchilada casserole . 😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my goodness, Ana!! Thank you so very much for sharing that with me. I’m so happy to hear that so many of my recipes have made it to your table. That means the world to me that they have helped you so much! You have a wonderful rest of your week and thank you so much again for your loyal support💜💜💜
I came across your video and I saw the title so I checked it out and I want to say thank you for these recipes because I’m a single mother of two and this will help out a lot
thnx for so many great ideas - I appreciate you show the ingredients for each meal individually but am wondering how much cheaper some of these meals might be if you shared ingredients for multiple meals and purchased slightly larger pkgs rather than just buying what you need for that one recipe at a time - hope that makes sense - am a young senior on a fixed income so generally purchase the same foods each month then choose recipes that make use of what I have - the last four years have been most challenging for eating healthy interesting meals on low income (I have been cooking for myself for 45 yrs) glad to find new ideas like yours 🇨🇦🙏

Very true. Buying in bulk is usually the most cost effective! Thank you so very much for sharing that and I appreciate your positive feedback and support here🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you sooo much for doing this,I'm recently divorced and am struggling just to pay bills, forget grocery prices,I get up everyday and hope I will be able to eat that day,but god is good and somehow I eat,it might not be what I want, much less nutritional but these videos really help for when I can afford to buy food again.thank you so much.take care.
I am really so very sorry to hear that. I’m not sure if you have food banks nearby, but they are a great resource when times are really tough. I am happy to hear though that some of these ideas help you and I do hope that things get better for you.🙏
For the Ramen noodles do not cook it all the way or it will get soggy and too soft in the chow mein. Do it al dente so still a bit hard/stiff and it will soften a bit as you stir fry it with the vegetables but nott too soft. I also like it as soup with a broken fried egg over it or soft boiled egg-yum! You can drizzle siracha or chili oil or sesame oil if you have that.
I love that you compiled a bunch of your budget-friendly meals, from previous videos, into this new video. A few of them I have been making for a while now and they're really good. And now I have more to try. Thank you again. 😊
Thank you for creating all these meals for everyone out there who are struggling with how to feed their family. You have done amazing!!!!! Keep up your good work in helping others
I really love and appreciate your channel. You are such a wonderful mentor available to help instruct people who may not have a parent or other family to teach them. Gosh! You cover nutrition, budgeting and feeding yourself and your family: One of the basic necessities of life.
Well I appreciate that so very much. That is such wonderful feedback and I am really so happy to have you here! Thanks so much for sharing that with me and I sure do appreciate your love and support💜💜
SO many great ideas in this video that I had to save it in my Favorites for later reference. This video, along with your cookbook, I feel like I will never run out of recipes! TY

Love your cookbook! Everything I have made from it has been a huge hit! Your recipes are delicious and uses ingredients that are common and easy to find 😊
You are so amazing and talented. Delicious and nutritious meals. So happy for you and your family Julia. ❤️ I love that you shared about when you didn’t have a lot of money for groceries because that is real life. You are precious.
Thank you so very much for your wonderful feedback about my mails in my channel. I do appreciate that so very much! And yes, life definitely does get very real and especially when you are low on funds and you are just starting out in life. Thank you so very much again and have a great weekend💜
I wish they would make these happier than thou people bragging about being on snap so they can afford more groceries for free money. They should also go back to making them stand in a daily food line, especially if they don’t work and don’t have time to make enchilada sauce, but can comment, they have no tme for that. While we read our other elders and disabled military, homeless people can’t even afford to eat every day of the week. That upsets me more than anything to read.
Clinton signed PRWORA Act. Leaves it up to each state to set their laws re: SNAP...most states require you to work at least part time. Your benefits are a lot less. And you can only get SNAP for a set amount of time (months in a row) and PRWORA specifically mandates you can only receive SNAP for 5 yrs. And before y'all start in about multiple babies mean more benefits....they don't. Every state CAPS benefits. Each successive child you have the proportion of benefits increased LESSENS. Until you reach the state-mandated cap.

I used to do that when my son was teenager. Do you have food pantry near you?? My husband has dementia and I am his caregiver. Sometimes when things are tight. We use food pantry. It does help I had to have all my teeth pulled couple of months ago. I was having some back pain. Wasn’t very hungry. Went to the ER and my magnesium was low.
You take care of yourself and thank you so very much for your loyal support here😉🙌🏼🙌🏼
This needed to be said, thank you for saying it! 🙏 I could have written the same comment word for word. Amen!
It is still cheaper for such a time as this 👍
I went shopping this week and prices were exactly as why you said for San Diego California. I did have to spend extra time to hunt some stuff down but ended up finding pretty much all of it for the 20+ recipes..except pinto beans and went with refried pinto beans instead.
These meals are life saving and easy to make so ty Julia.

For those of you who dont buy nonstick but have butter around, my grandmother would save butter wrappers and use them to grease pans! (I grew up doing this to grease and flour cake pans)
Thanks so much for that great tip!😊
The same goes for cooking dried beans instead of using canned! Better control over sodium and SO much cheaper.

Wow! Thank you. Just remember, the amount you spend eating out can feed you 25 times over if spent wisely. This is a great video for many low income, or young adults trying to feed their babies.
It’s so expensive to eat out anymore! Even the cheaper restaurants make it difficult on a family. Thank you so much for your positive comment😊
I remember currently 1 to 2 meals per takeout is about £15 to £30 usually mid to upper range and eating that alot really affects health and mentality not just the wallet
(always ran out of meal ideas then gave into the useual cravings to then have low money and feel worse)
Theese meals not only make your body feel good after eating instead of sluggish or sick but they cost mere fractions
Please don't stop teaching others how to cook (live and thrive instead of just survive)
I will always keep an eye out for new recipes thankyou :)

That 2$ 400g block of cheese in canada is 6.50 cad (4.80 usd) and you have to wait for the egg sales being less than 30 cents each. Oeuf!😅
Yes the prices here are terrible 👎🇨🇦
I live in Canada and where I live that cheese block is above 8$ now :(
I was about to comment as a Canadian myself. I'm finding it hard to feed my family full suppers here, the prices have gone insane. 8$ bricks of cheese, 4$ a dozen eggs. Potatoes are 6$ a bag. I could go on and on. Even budget meals aren't budget for us stuck here. 😞

I use packets of gravy in chicken and dumplings and also many casserole dishes (tater tot casserole) 😋
Do you have a recipe book that I can order?
Wow! That sounds so delicious right about now, Patti. Thank you so very much for sharing that great tip.💜💜
mRNA has been added to pigs and sold to consumers as pork since 2018.
One of my favorite casserole recipes - sooo good:
1 lb fully cooked bratwurst or Polish sausage, cut into ½-inch pieces
4 medium potatoes, cooked, peeled, and cubed
1 (16-oz) can cut green beans, drained
1 (10 ¾-oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4 oz)
½ cup onion, chopped
In a 3-quart casserole, stir together the sausage, potatoes, green beans, condensed cream of mushroom soup, cheese, and onion.
Bake, covered, in a 350 oven about 45 minutes or till heated through.
Of course all the amounts are to taste, so to make it a little cheaper you can use less sausage and add an extra potato, or use more or less onion or cheese!
That sounds so good! Thank you so very much for sharing your great recipe and I appreciate you watching too💜💜
Hi Julia. I have my pad of paper and pen. I'm waiting for my weekly inspiration! Thanks for the easy ideas.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who watches Julia with pen & paper in hand, lol. I don't always follow every recipe exactly, but I do get so much inspiration from her ideas. I'm always thinking "Now why didn't I think of that?" when watching her videos. Good stuff.😊
You’re so awesome, Kelly! Thank you so much for your loyal support every week and I’m so happy to hear that I can help🙌🏼🙌🏼
I wish I could send these videos back to college-age me. We had a little kitchen in our dorm and I could have eaten like a king, but I just didn't know how!
That’s funny! Hindsight is definitely 20/20! Thank you so much for your positive comment🙌🏼
Same! Even if I didn’t have a kitchen I could have easily bought an electric skillet and crock pot and made some of these while in college. They’re so easy.
Thank you for showing people that they can make good food for their families. And that they don’t have to eat garbage all the time.
Thank you so very much, Tracy! I sure do appreciate your positive comment💜💜
Or cellulose
I really love how simply these meals come together. It's affordable and delicious. Thank you for putting it up and I can't wait to get your book.
I am so very happy to hear that, Jennifer! I sure do appreciate your positive feedback here and hope you enjoy them🙌🏼
I noticed that you didn’t use mushrooms in many dishes but they are very good for you and can be used as a meat substitute in many dishes.
I hope this helps 😊
Lentils are very underrated.
Store-brand "pieces and stems" cans of mushrooms are just as tasty and cheaper than the cans of sliced 🍄s...
I tend to drain my vegetables/chicken into a measuring cup so I save any flavor and nutrients.
For the Alfredo I put the petite tomatoes and shake to get all the sauce
Those are awesome tips! Thank you so very much for sharing them and I hope you enjoy some of these ideas🙌🏼
We're retired on SS, savings and hubs works part time. All your recipes are great and have helped with budgeting. Thank you!
I’m really happy to hear that they’ve helped so much. Thank you so much for sharing your positive feedback and I really appreciate you so much too💜💜
You are an amazing young lady!
This may sound so crazy but this is how i eat all the time. I grew up eating like this n absolutly love it
That’s great! Thank you so much for watching and I am sure that you’re pretty amazing with your budget, Diane🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you
And you are still alive 🤨
of all the budget friendly meal idea videos I've seen, this is definitely the best.
Very good tip! Thanks so much for sharing that🙌🏼
I really enjoy every single one of your videos..i really love how realistic you are about sharing your life and not forgetting we're you came from that's very important..you are a inspiration of life can change for the best..good luck 🤞 in everything you set out to do in your life..you and you're beautiful family enjoy the rest of yall weekend.
This is so very true! And thank you so very much for your positive feedback. I appreciate that🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you for including so many gluten free recipes as well as recipes that can be easily modified to be gluten free.
That’s an awesome tip! Thanks so much for sharing that🙌🏼
I always buy Hunts Pasta Sauce. Its budget friendly and tastes much better than the glass jar type.
It really is super tasty, Connie. Thank you so much for sharing that here and I hope you enjoy some of these meals💜🙌🏼
Ur so sweet and kind you truly make the world a better place by just simply being you, i mean that respectfully 🙏
Well I sure do appreciate that. Thank you so much. Your kind words mean so much to me! You have a wonderful rest of your weekend and I appreciate your great support here🙌🏼
Great video! I make that ramen stir fry also but at the end I add in a couple of fried eggs for some protein.
That’s a wonderful tip! Thanks so much for sharing that🙌🏼🙌🏼
I put it in a main comment but I use my cans that I drained of liquid over the week as my ramen broth. Canned chicken, sweet potato syrup, and mushroom water make an amazing dish. I store it for a week as my Sunday night dinner.
I always enjoy watching your videos when I eat breakfast on Sunday mornings!
Haha, I thought I was the only one!
Oh! Thank you so very much for joining me on your Sunday mornings. That makes my day🙌🏼🙌🏼

You are so very welcome and I really do hope that these ideas help you. I’m sure you mean the world to those two kids of yours!💜
My hubby LOVED the sausage and egg casserole. I added cut up grape tomatoes. And he added some hot picante sauce and cheese.
That’s awesome! Thank you so much for sharing what you added to this recipe. I’m so happy that you both enjoyed it so much💜
thnx for so many great ideas - I appreciate you show the ingredients for each meal individually but am wondering how much cheaper some of these meals might be if you shared ingredients for multiple meals and purchased slightly larger pkgs rather than just buying what you need for that one recipe at a time - hope that makes sense - am a young senior on a fixed income so generally purchase the same foods each month then choose recipes that make use of what I have - the last four years have been most challenging for eating healthy interesting meals on low income (I have been cooking for myself for 45 yrs) glad to find new ideas like yours 🇨🇦🙏
oops typed before your chicken drumsticks recipes 41:00 looks like you are doubling up 😉🤭 gotta try these recipes - chicken drumsticks are one of my staples 🇨🇦🙏

Thank you so very much for sharing those tips! I sure do appreciate it🙌🏼
Julia you have made my day with 25 meals I need to get/cook/freeze/ for meal for a day.🙏
I love that you compiled a bunch of your budget-friendly meals, from previous videos, into this new video. A few of them I have been making for a while now and they're really good. And now I have more to try. Thank you again. 😊
You are so welcome! I really do appreciate the positive feedback. It helps so much, Jennifer🙌🏼🙌🏼
I always wondered about adding a little water to the jars. You answered my question. I do that and then clean the jars for other things.
Very true! It is really a great way to get all of the sauce out and not be super wasteful🙌🏼
I too have always done this. Works great! 🤗

It amazes me that were partially living in the 1930s because of greed and corruption once again. Dear god.
Preach! Tbh though I'd rather wait in a food line than to try and apply for snap again it's that much of a pain in the ass

I don’t want you and your husband to get sick. I hope and pray things get better for you and your husband. 🙏🙏
