Abandoned Picacho Mining District Prospect along the Colorado River

An abandoned mining prospect sits along the Colorado river approximately 3 1/2 miles east of the Picacho State Recreation Area. The hike in from the old townsite is about a 4 mile walk through washes and up and over ridges.
The entire hike is along an old road, which is slowly blending back into the natural landscape of the area.
There is plenty of old mining equipment left behind including a couple of old trucks, an air tank, and a ball mill. Entry into the mine shafts is unobstructed, but none of them go any deeper than 10 or 15 feet.
There are also old foundations along the river, once the site of a river gaging station.
