I kept refreshing the page to find this and I am 6 minutes late 😔
But i can't wait to finish the documentary! It's long so i can't finish it in one setting, but I'll definitely watch some tonight and tomorrow. Thank you for all the hard work Tuv!!
THE WAY THE ANIMATRONICS STARTED ROASTING EACHOTHER IS TAKING ME OUTTTT😭😭😭 WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT IT

This documentary shows how FNAF games almost retold the Chuck E Cheese story in its entirety, as well as referenced animatronic history, in many similar ways. Honestly, if Chuck E Cheese kept their characters they could’ve been waaaay more popular now.
Shoutout to that guy Damon who collected all those animatronics, and kept all of them in company working condition, just fascinating stuff.
I disagree, I don’t think they would be more popular if they kept the animatronics. The animatronics creeped kids out and also it would just be a meme by now as kids are more into digital and virtual mascots in my opinion
@@iamhereblossom1588 I think it’s the fact that it became a meme after the shows were discontinued. That’s why Chuck E Cheese lost a huge opportunity
@@iamhereblossom1588if they had branched out (horror themed locations) like they were being pushed to they could’ve kept the brand up; im not sure how they could’ve executed it but maybe something like escape rooms featuring the chuck e band
@@user29479Yo imagine FNAF escape rooms 😬😬😬 I would actually shit myself
Thank you... its glad to see people understand the hard work it takes to keep them going!
It's kinda scary how accurate a fnaf vhs animation is to actual educational employee videos other than the random scares
Yeah they usually use cec or chuck e cheese assets and turn it into FNaF basically,in order to make a scary realistic fnaf animation you gotta know about chuck e cheese and showbiz pizza
It is always so interesting to see someone be extremely passionate about a hobby or occupation. "Smitty's" dedication to the animatronics and keeping all of this alive, is so so cool! How can you _not_ admire that? I really hope this gets him more attention, and more people will be able to see this live!
Agree! People like him definitely make life/the world more interesting! 😊 It’s amazing seeing the oddly specific things people are passionate about
Thank you. Its so glad to know the hard work put into this is appreciated!

About 30 years ago when I worked as a Civil Engineer and I designed soft playground systems, there were many playground sets that I designed for Chuck E Cheese and Showbiz Pizza. When the playground sets were being installed, I had to be there and inspect them to make sure the installation crews were assembling them correctly. So I spent a lot of time in CEC and Showbiz Pizza.
It was creepy because the maintenance crew's that maintained the animatronic units would come in every week and make sure the units were working well and had no issues about to happen.
So they would take ALL of the skins off of the units and run them through their routines and just watch them operate to see their mechanisms performing and pneumatic tubes and fittings to make sure none of them were starting to leak air. Watching those units do their full routine without ANY of their skin on was pure nightmare fuel. I would usually always be sitting at one of the dining tables and drinking a Coke and periodically going over to check the assembly of the playground I had designed. So I could always clearly see the whole stage and had a clear view of the animatronic units dancing and singing without their skins. I would be there for hours so I always got the full performance at lesst twice. Then the place would open and the skins would be fully put back on the animatronic units and they would be doing their performance for the kids that were there. I always wondered if any of those kids had ever seen any of the animatronic units with their skin off. If I had ever seen anything like that when I was a kid I would have run out of there screaming. LOL
Cool!
The first custom show for the animatronics was cool, giving a voice to old machines that would've otherwise been abandoned or destroyed. Always have been thankful for people who fix up old stuff from a bygone era for others to appreciate.
I love seeing people showing things that they truly love, you can just hear how much he loves these animatronics
Frrr
same i love the way his face lights up
right i love how much passion he has
This!!!
this yes because I don't care about animatronics but seeing him so passionate makes learning interesting.
i teared up when they started playing your music, that is such a touching detail that they actively put effort into just for your visit. these guys are the GOATs for real
I think these companies phasing animatronics out natural, but I also think all the animatronic puppets deserve to be either repurposed, or to be shown off in something like a museum. Some of these animatronics are a part of entertainment history that deserve to be preserved for future generations to learn about.
Fnaf really has ignited a passion within me for animatronics, how they work, the history of it all.
And preserving them is what we do!!!!
@@SmittysSuperService Keep up the awesome work guys, I'll be checking in on your channel when I can!

Damon is such a nice guy, we have chit chatted briefly on ig about my own animatronic tape talker doll collection and he extended the invite to smittys if I was ever in the area and now I’m tempted to make a trip just to go there. Thanks for asking all of the questions everyone wants to ask, and making the video as indepth and descriptive as possible. Big fans of audio animatronics definitely appreciate that. Loved this video. Amazing.
Aww thank you~ We will be glad to show you the collection.... just know we are by appointment only so set something up in advance!!!

Fuckin nuts how much work goes into running and maintaining those animatronics. “Smitty” is a special kind of mad man. Crazy to think he had the foresight to drop $5K on something like this. Just bananas.

Now I feel justified for liking Showbiz WAAY more than Chuck E. as a child 😂
Showbiz’s animatronics are way higher quality, just the tech behind them alone- Just impressive
I went to Chuck E a few times as a kid and all I remember is being looked dead in the eyes by creepy robots.

I think this is so unbelievably awesome. I mean, I was born in 2004 and some of the earliest memories I have is at a Chuck E Cheese. For American children I feel like it's so important to remember these things, that have had such an impact on us all. Amazing work, tuv. I am so grateful for this upload.

I feel like Matpat is somewhere here admiring the LOOOOORE you've gathered!
But you need to remember that that was just a theory… A TUV THEORY!
I can’t be the only one who read that in MatPat’s voice
It's like chuck and cheese crime 1993. Scott Cawthon was inspired by this incident and made the FNAF game and series.
Ye thats just a theory tho

this is honestly remarkable. those guys were so cool to be so inviting and program ur song like that. never thought id be so invested in some old chuck e cheese electronics.
I’m so sorry but why hasn’t anyone made a edit of Tuv?! He is the finest man I’ve ever seen (my opinion)
I was stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean and had to be evacuated in 2021. It took almost two hours but seeing the ride with the lights on, the process to get us out, and the underground tunnels actually made it worth it.
That concept unification tape at 52:21 with the audio removed is true analogue horror.
Absolutely
I'm a 90s kid so the Chuck E Cheese animatronics I grew up with were the full bodied ones that use to be the rock-afire band. I remember going to a birthday at Chuck E Cheese when I was 8 and enjoying seeing everyone on stage! It was the first time I had ever seen anything like it. Chuck was placed towards the edge of stage and everyone was going up to get pictures with him while he was performing his show. I was told to go up but I refused. I was afraid Chuck was going to hit me because he was making extremely jerky motions. I was talked into it though, so I went up. The audio for the show was very loud, I know now that was to mask the sound of the hydraulics but while standing front and center of him, I heard it all and the sound scared me so bad I started crying. He was the best and most creepy thing out of my childhood. This video brought back great memories! It's nice to see someone take the time and money to preserve them.
hearing this mans true passion dedication to animatronics is cool as hell, and warms my heart in a way lol
Gotta preserve them for Future Generations to enjoy! Thank you for seeing the importance!@
I went on vacation with my dad at age 11. His WW2 Marine buddy owned a Showbiz pizza, and he gave me a bucket full of quarters and let me run buck wild after closing. It was so cool but creepy. My dad died the next year right before we were set to go on vacation again. Lots of memories there.
As a child I thought animatronics were nightmare fuel. I still think they're nightmare fuel but now I love it just as I love everything abandoned, creepy, uncanny and liminal. Great video Tuv! ❤
he was like “u usually think of disney or chucky cheese” i immediately thought of fnaf

There's just something about these analog marvels that just can't be replaced with purely digital experiences.

I wish Chuck E Cheese was similar with Disney, constantly finding ways to improve their animatronics to try to win back the audience they had in the 80s.
You guys are living the dream! I find animatronics to be pretty interesting and SSS just bleeds that 80s bliss of being a child and taken to a fun place to eat and play. I hope they stay afloat for a VERY long time! ☺️
What about the Rock afire Explosion?

Love animatronic horror! I had it embedded forever in my mind after visiting a small theme park called The Enchanted Forest off Route 40 in Maryland. I’d gone there as a child while it was still running, but back in college afterward with adventurous friends, we went late at night. We were terrified. The images are still haunting
oh man, im gonna have to look this up !!
Electro and Sparky is one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen.
hard agree !!!
I def would NOT be comfortable standing by animatronics bro id be scared of one turning on out of nowhere💀
Hearing the animatronics move without the show tape audio is all the music I need! Hearing the sound of hydraulic pistons and the clicking of joints is so satisfying to hear! I also love seeing how people keep the memory of these animatronics alive and doing shows for future generations to experience!
Seeing the history of Chuck e Cheese in action is so cool, especially with it fading out
Incredible video! It’s great seeing people giving these shows more love and attention they deserve!
As for more info on the half-bodied Chuck E. Cheese characters, the figures you saw are known as Cyberamics. They were first built in 1979 and were used in every Pizza Time Theatre from around 1980. Only 2 Pizza Time Theatre locations actually had the portrait characters, which were replaced with these Cyberamics. As for the Bandstand characters, the Bandstand show was done for a set of showtapes they had for the characters, and had different outfits for the characters to further fit the theme of the show.
The King actually uses the same half-bodied mechanism as the Chuck E. Cheese characters, but has different arms, a large set of legs and ear mechanisms. The Beagles has similar head mechanisms to the singing birds that accompany the Pizza Time Players, known as the Warblettes.
As well as the Looney Bird character in the arcade, he was from a later show by Creative Engineering called the New Rock-afire Explosion. The show was made after the Rock-afire Explosion was pulled from Showbiz Pizza Place, in the hopes of being the next big show by Creative Engineering that would shoot them back into the mainstream, like the Rock-afire Explosion had. Unfortunately, it flopped massively, and only around 6-8 shows were ever manufactured I believe, no full shows are known to be operational at the time. Although, there are a handful of people with characters, and Aaron Fechter still has a full show which he hopes to restore to be operational again in the future. As for Looney himself, he was from the left stage, which was on a turntable. The stage featured 2 Looney Bird animatronics, one per side. One of these was a head only, similar to the standard Rock-afire Looney Bird, although he was inside of a window, accompanied by Beach Bear. On the opposite side of the stage, was where the full-bodied Looney Bird would reside.
Oh and the portrait show. There aren’t many manufactured, at all. Most were destroyed, and there are only 2 characters known to still exist, although they do not operate. These being the later iterations of the portrait versions of Chuck E. Cheese and a discontinued character, Crusty the Cat. There’s so little left of the show, that repairing and operating these 2 characters again would be extremely difficult.
Either way, though, great video!! Very informative! As I said earlier, seeing people giving these shows more attention and care is always a great sight
You are well versed in the history! Keep up the good work
@@SmittysSuperService Thanks Damon! Been researching these guys for a long long while now, so I’d hope by now I know a fair bit lol
It is no coincidence this video and morbidorfun’s video on animatronics was uploaded at the exact same time.
It not he's in that vid
The Chuck E Cheese animatronics you see here are called "Cyberamics". They existed in both half body, and full body form in various stage designs. Around the time of Concept Unification, the existing Cyberamic shows were converted from older stages like the Balcony Stage, C-Stage, and Rocker Stage, into newer designs called Road Stages, 2-stages, and 1-stages. This is where the Cyberamics had legs added onto them, and the band name was changed to "Munch's Make Believe" at all locations. The creative engineering mechs were transformed into 3-stages.
That’d be sick af if someone put that chucky cheese back together zombie undead creeper style.. 20:50
