I have the A53 and like it. I've had moto phones and they are fine with a nice clean android skin. The downside to moto is always that they aren't the best at updating the phones. You will get one OS upgrade usually some phones and at best a quarterly security patch for a few years. Samsung has been doing way better they really stepped up the game on software support. My A53 just got the may 2022 update today.
I agree the Moto at $500 is a bit much. But I would go with Moto over this A53. Main reason, it has a headphone jack. Also, the Moto is overall a mid range beast, 8gb ram, 256gb storage + SD card, huge 6.8 inch screen, 120Hz screen and as mentioned a headphone jack. On the other hand, A53 has software support which is a huge positive. But, the Moto in total will give you 4 years total life of software a security support. Doesn't mean you can't use it past that time frame. Lastly, as of date Moto is on sale. Totally worth it now.
Let me just clear this up for people who've never used either of the phones. I've used both of them and in real world experience the Galaxy does not compare to the Moto the Galaxy is super stuttery slow choppy when you're going through web pages Google feed Instagram all that stuff slow and choppy. 120 hertz refresh rate sounds good I thought the phone was going to be awesome but it wasn't. The Galaxy a13 was a better experience than the a53 that crappy-ass exanos chip is horrible on the a53. The Motorola is smooth and it just works go to d Brand get a skin for the Motorola problem solved if you're worried about looks. It's been proven multiple times over and over even on flagship devices that specs don't mean a damn thing. Real world use means everything and in real world youth experience the Motorola is the better phone it performs better. Downsides no AMOLED screen no 120hz refresh rate even with those two things it doesn't matter these are low mid range to mid range devices.
Yeah the price goes down fast my mom and dad has the moto g stylus 5g 2022 and they couldn't recommend more (sarcasm) no they say do not apps don't open it lags they have to restart it i have a hand-me-down Motorola Moto G7 supra and it's trash i restart to many I would recommend more then moto
I liked Motorola back when Google owned them. I don't know why people thought they weren't innovative while under Google's ownership. The Moto X was a decent phone and offered several different back covers to choose from like metallic, matte, leather, and wood. And a personal message/name etched into the back covers. I wish they'd bring that back.
I have a moto stylus 5g (2021). It feels like since the 2022 model was released, I've been having lag issues. I have always liked using Motorola phones because of reliability. After watching this comparison, I think I'm jumping over to the Samsung. I hope I'm making the right choice.
You are. I switched from the A51 5g to the Moto G Stylus 5g 2021 because I had an accident with the A51 and needed a new phone in a pinch. Now that I've had the Moto G Stylus for like 6onths and have finally come into some more money again I'm definitely picking up the A53 since it's on sale for 260 right now on my carrier. Keeping the Moto G Stylus as a backup, but I'm stoked to be going back to the Samsung A series. I loved my 51.

I have the A53 5g and let me tell you it's a really good phone it may not be a big screen but it's definitely worth it ! I had a A52 and switched to the 53 I've always loved samsung
I have had both and the Moto is way more responsive and faster than the laggy A53. I dont like all the Samsung junk on it as well. The battery doesnt seem to drain as fast on the Moto as the A53. Screen is better on the A53 and the weight is less than the Moto but for the responsiveness I kept the Moto and sent back the A53.
The big difference obviously being with the processors between the two of the devices. Every video that I've seen about the new Galaxy a53 states that the exynos processor that it uses just can't keep up with everything that it offers.
Thanks for the info... I spotted this phone a53 , several months ago. I was telling a friend I was ready to get another phone but there seems to be no mid-range phones anymore. $500 is a mid-range phone. Anyway, I figured I'd use my current phone until it's last leg. Meantime, she purchased the Galaxy a53. Immediately she had problems. She ended up having to run back and forth to Verizon where she purchased it and that bothered me. I don't have that ability because I am disabled. I just read the negative reviews and that bothered me further. If I'm going to drop $500 on the phone which is what Verizon is charging now I want it to be able to work right off the bat. I see unlocked a53 phones for $450 on Amazon. Is an unlocked phone any different than purchasing from Verizon? Also since this phone has been out for a while you know of another that is comparable or better? I'm going to look through your phone reviews you seem to be exceptionally honest! LOL I was going to get the Motorola but since you pretty much said it was a piece of s*** I decided against it! I appreciate you giving constructive criticism although I was a bit disappointed with what you choose. I still respect your opinion I’m going for Motorola I’m thinking about last year because of the color or this year I don’t know but I was thinking about the A53 tho.
I have the galaxy a53 5G, and it is laggy I would not recommend it to my Samsung lovers mind you I am a Samsung fan strong on them. I got TV's all sorts of devices for Samsung but they dropped the ball on the a53 5g. I had the a 50 line ups and the a70 line ups I don't know about Motorola but I'll tell you this much I'm switching asap from this a53 5g done with it.
The phone antenna is much better on the A53 vs the Stylus 5G. Was in a remote area and compared them side by side. My dad's Stylus 5G had no service and my A53 had 2 bars of 5G service. Both phones on Verizon network.
Thank you for mentioning how Motorola is confusing the consumers with the way they are naming their phones. I've been saying that for awhile now. Its just crazy when I try to look up their new released phones just to find out that they jumble the naming of their phones with the "Moto/ Moto G" from one year to the next. They need to employ some smarter marketing strategists. 😂😂😂😂
i knew this guy was gonna be biased about the moto g from the beginning but watched anyways. Funny how he picked a better background for the a53 to make it pop more. He even lowered the brightness on the moto g to make it look worse. Plus you complain about finger prints but can clearly see them on the a53 too.
Moto has come a long way. But in this day and time there are so many more better phones at this price point. It seems that Moto is just barely hanging in the phone game. They can do so much better, but will they?

My main Phone is Poco x3 gt paid $265. Last year. Great Deal. I was paying $50. A month Unlimited Plan for 1 phone.

Well something is wrong because android 12 has been on my T Mobile Stylus 5G and it runs much better than my previous A53. A53 with that exynos chip is laggy af, some times I felt like I was back using my Samsung A12 sometimes and here's the thing my A12 was more consistent.

I have a s20 Fe. It's been garbage. Reception is sketchy, lags, freezes and charging problems. I'm likely done with Samsung. Debating between iPhone and Moto g stylus 5g. Never had an iPhone though.

I did everything possible, including factory data reset and it didn't fix anything. The Galaxy a53 5g lags but no as much as the Moto stylus 5g 2022. Both phones feel cheap. Terrible processors. Terrible everything. Rim far away as you can from each phone.
These are both solid Devices; however there are things Samsung can afford (better type of screen, better trade in value, longer support for updates); because they are a larger Company compared to Motorola (Lenovo). I prefer the Motorola's stock Android - My UX - and trust once the Carrier Variant is available for the 2022 Motorola G Stylus 5G (honestly? I hope this is the last year we have the 4G LTE Variants!) we'll find a price that's appropriate ($300). I would definitely take a Samsung or Motorola vs a OnePlus or a Pixel. I would love for Samsung, or TCL, or Nokia to come out with their affordable mid-tier Stylus. It's a cool function, which I do use, but not something I would pay $1,000 for (or $500). Just as Samsung is going to refer to it's A Devices via a designated number (13, 23, 33, 53, 73), Motorola G will probably continue to have a Stylus, Power, and Play (but call them by a different name outside of North America, sometimes with better specs at a better price). One thing I think we can all agree on is the more choices we have is Consumers? the better (and yes this includes the iPhone).

a53 no charger in box, moto does come with one. now moto is available cheaper in market.

Oh another thing do not connect the A53 to Android auto it pretty much renders your device useless gets even choppier.

Still concerned about Motorola's sketchy software support. Especially at the 499.99 price point. Samsung however is killing it on the software side.

The Motorola series "stylus" all models are plagued with audio problems.
Not the 2020 g stylus. Only g stylus that's good. Duel dolby speakers. Speaker phone is so crisp

This phone is free if you switch to t-mobile/metro by t-mobile. It’s the 128gb model btw. Something to consider when making your decision.

Do the same comparsion with the new stylus 2023 5g, its faster than the a53 in gpu and cpu tests. ips 120hz vs amoled 120hz. same size.

Well something is wrong because android 12 has been on my T Mobile Stylus 5G and it runs much better than my previous A53. A53 with that exynos chip is laggy af, some times I felt like I was back using my Samsung A12 sometimes and here's the thing my A12 was more consistent.
