When I first fought Issachar it felt really dramatic cuz he killed my demons but dindt hit Flynn once it's like he couldn't hit Flynn cuz they were friends
I did this blind and I chose not to kill him because I still thought there was some way to save him, then Walter made me feel like an ass. I mean, c'mon. He was apparently my best friend. Pictured myself doing that. Went through second playthrough with other choice and Jonathan didn't make it any better, who made me feel like a monster with no remorse. I love this game so much. It's been a while since I felt such guilt when making a choice in a video game. VA's great too. Very well done, Atlus.
6 years late but, I thought the healers could fix him up as there was still a part of his humanity that was intact. But having to kill him nonetheless made me sad. Walter scolding me hit me like a truck afterwards. Then I remembered, there are no happy endings in SMT.
I know Issachaar got near zero character development, but... that was too sad \: I expected that some part of the game he would turn on you because he has been rejected as samurai. But the way things happened were sudden and brutal. i got shocked and hours later couldnt think of other thing, a bad taste in mouth...
Word of warning for anyone doing this on New Game + and trying to get the Neutral route. If you 1 shot this boss or kill him too quickly the choice will be completely skipped. Happened to me had to go back to my last save :(.
If i made the game he would've become a partner up until the alignment lock, same for Navarre, Navarre would've chosen the "White Ending" where u destroy everything, and Issachar would choose the opposite path of your own. Neutral>

I'm so conflicted about this guy's voice. Right now he sounds really, really forced and puts up a bad performance. But later, as a white, his voice is phenomenal. Is it just the filters? Even then, he delivers the lines pretty damn well.
i had taken about a week long break between my first hour into the game and getting to see issachar again, and i had completely forgotten who he was so i chose the option "i don't know this man." felt like shit after he explained who he was and i realized too late lmaooo
I finished him. Think about. If you don't, he'ld suffer through the pain already inflected on him, slowly dying a painful death. But you could put him out of the pain is going through to end his suffering. Either way he dies, so why not ease his pain?
I wouldn't be able to answer him, I am a samurai not a Luxuror or a Casualry. Though I would choose to spare him. If he became a demon then I would believe there must be a way to undo it.
Aww, why didn't you put up his Fundraise dialogue? It's hilarious! He goes on to talk about how the Bourgeoisie kept stealing from the Serfs/Peasants/Plebeians. I forgot what the social classes were really called...
I got to this part last night. Really was the first part of the game that kind of got to me emotionally. Seeing his battered body... Ugh. I felt kind of sorry for him.
I really can’t express how this scene leading up to the fight and the fight itself is one of the best moments in gaming. The suspense when Issachar was giving his monologue about the Eastern Kingdom and when Burroughs said she detected a demon close by, it was so chilling. I kind of expected in an smt game that you would have to fight your friend but that moment hit me like a truck. Ik Issachar wasn’t developed but damn, everything was so great. 👌
I just passed this disheartening point in the game myself this afternoon. I chose "I'm a Casualry" and "Spare him" for Law's sake being the humble youngster I am. Thank you for showcasing the alternative choice for me.
I'd agree, BUT my main issue is you weren't really exposed to him that much. It was like... the day of the ceremony, and then the next day he's being emo by the lake. I would have liked there to be more development of his character, something to make it hurt to see him die the same way it hurt to see... oh, I dunno... Nanako getting kidnapped in Persona 4.
I had to close my 3DS and think about what I had to do...I mean...If I really were in that position...could I end my best friend's life?...this is the mark of an excellent game
Cycle 2, reincarnation mode. Bought my demon team from the end of the game in the compendium. Turns out I was too strong to go through the dialogue trees during the fight :/
I was basically 50/50 in this situation. I did see this as the moment to do an euthanasia, but at the same time I didn't know what it could mean for Flynn's people. In the end I flipped a coin to choose lmao.
I did it more in an rpg aspect putting myself in my characters position, I tried to get through but failed, seeing him ask you to kill him as his only moment breaking through what possessed, at that point my character steeled his resolve and granted his wish out of respect
I'm going for Johnathan's path for these scenes do I say I don't know him, I'm a Luxuror and the spare him. I know I have to choice spare him but dose it matter on the other 2 options? If it dose i'm going to have to start over again.
Issachar much like all the people of mikado were all but cut off and ignorant of the world, so all forms of knowledge that lilith had was temptation to human's curiosity and what lead to them to learn more and more. He took the books because she offered him insight of things he never even knew, let alone ever questioned the world he lived in much like everyone else above the firmament. Essentially, lilith was the parent who gave a shiny new toy to an infant child that immediately took it because they've never seen it before.
Good Loser Aaaah thats where i heard it from! I remember playing this game before watching SAO, and thinking the entire time i was watching SAO "Where'd i heard that voice?" And then shortley after finishing, i came back to this game thinking the same think. Thanks
Is Chagrins in Naraku or what I need to know this for a quest I'm doing and also where the treasure room at they say to meet a Samurai there but so I can't find that room.

"Looks like the quest is going well." Except for the fact I had to kill my best friend.
Everything: *goes fucking wrong after Flynn has made 70 bad moral choices*
Burroughs: Looks like the quest is going well.
When I first fought Issachar it felt really dramatic cuz he killed my demons but dindt hit Flynn once it's like he couldn't hit Flynn cuz they were friends
On my playground he instantly one shot me at the start and had to finish him with demons 😞
when I fought him I was even more broken inside because due to my dialogue choices he didn't even fight back.
not enough backstory to feel bad
Thumbnail made me tearful from the memories.
Am I the only one who feels like this is an underrated moment in gaming?

You thought this was Persona 4 or 5 huh lol

He's Bryce Papenbrook. people tend to be mixed on his performances.
@DevilBuster Kaz And Rin okumara and Staz the vampire
Bryce Pappenbrook can’t do serious moments well at all. He can pull of comedy fine but he fails at moments with very serious tones.
@DevilBuster Kaz Pathetic
Get a brain dude, it was a great performance

Poor guys - Casualry

Isscachar has the same Voice actor as Tiz from bravely default!
And Zidane in Dissidia Final Fantasy.
The funny thing is that Flynn's voice actor is the same one who voices Sir Owen in Bravely Default.
He’s also Nagito Komaeda!

i don't see the point of dialogue choices in this one. you're going to have to kill him anyways, why is there a "spare him" choice?
for your alignement, if you spare him you gain law point, finish him and you gain chaos point
I feel like the only one that felt no connection to this guy.
Who is Issachars voice actor? I know i've heard it before!
Bryce Papenbrook, he's more notable for his role as Kirito from SAO though I recognise him as Makoto Naegi from Danganronpa
