Another great video! I'm going to make those burgers this weekend! As much as I love the ones in the frozen food aisle filled with so many preservatives
You mentioned that the condition that causes dandruff on your scalp can also affect your face. Anti-dandruff shampoo can be used to treat the scalp, but do you have any recommendations for treating the face? Thanks!
Dr.Dray, I have tinea versicolor on my back and chest area I've had for a couple years. I recently purchased Walgreens brand coal tar shampoo and have been washing with it to treat the Tinea Versicolor. I am now following up with Cerave Moisturizing Lotion after the shower. What is your thoughts on using coal tar to treat tinea versicolor?
Hi Carrie- I think head and shoulders shampoo (zinc pyrthione as the active ingredient) or selsun blue (selenium sulfide active ingredient) are better. TV tends to flare, paticularly with sweating and in the hot humid months. Avoid oils on affected areas too. Hope this helps!
Loving your videos! Laughing and learning is 'good medicine.' Dr. Dray, I've been wondering about the ingredient Alcohol Denat. I'm using a two step alpha beta daily peel with that ingredient. I don't seem to be having any problems. Thanks!
Hi clara and thank you so much for your sweet comments! So glad you are enjoying the channel. Alcohol is very harsh on the skin, but the ingredient may be necessary in the AHA formulation for efficacy. If you aren't having problems then it is probably fine, but I advocate taking breaks from peels/exfoliating...something I will touch on in today's vlog/q&a, so stay tuned! Hope you are having a great day!
lovely channel!! i have a question.. how long would you recommend using differin? can i use it over longer period of time like years or do i need to do breaks? i am three months in and new to retinol game xxx
Thank yo so much! Topical retinoids are great and if things are going well can be used as long as you like, with the exception of pregnancy/lactation. They should also be stopped a few days before and few days after you get waxing/threading or any cosmetic procedures. Also a break if you are going to the beach/going to be outdoors in the sun for a long time, as they can make you a little more susceptible to sunburn or discoloration in the sun, and as always...wear your sunscreen! Hope this helps.
Love this. First off, are you doing daily vids?? Mad respect ;) Secondly, for the Q&A, any tips of hair loss/thinning? I'm noticing a little bit, and my PCP did blood tests (nothing wrong) so she said it could be age (I'm 30), genetics, diet etc. but, she mentioned that if it got worse to see a dermatologist. Do you have any videos talking about this? I've upped my biotin and upping my protein intake ❤️ Thanks!
Thanks Rachel! I have a biotin video as it relates to nails: th-cam.com/video/TCyTDKSPZC0/w-d-xo.html Alot of the information applies to hair though. I recommend seeing a dermatologist for sure. Hope this helps!
Lots of great info - thanks! And those veggie burgers look delicious - I'm looking forward to the cooking video. On Head and Shoulders - I used it for awhile after reading that the zinc in it fights DHT (form of testosterone) that contributes to baldness. It didn't seem to do anything for me and so I stopped using it. Maybe I stopped too soon (?). What are your thoughts on it. We women face hair loss as we age (and for other reasons too) and I probably overreacted when I noticed my own thinning out. I ended up just changing my part to the other side of my head, and that seems to have solved my problem, at least temporarily.
Hi mirecka and thanks so much for the sweet comments! I have to ration the veggie burgers, they are so good! Zinc pyrthione is great as a maintenance (not cure) topical dandruff ingredient and for seborrheic dermatitis. Not part of the arsenal of recs for female pattern hair loss (related to DHT contributions). I am touching more on hair thinning in today's q&a as I get a lot of questions, but I recommend seeing a dermatologist, if you haven't already, because there are many types of hair loss, so yours may be due to something else/additional. Hoep you are having a great day.
