Remember, guys... THIS ISN'T THE END OF TERMINAL VELOCITY! Project Andoria take place in the same timeline, but from 2000 to 2031! THE SPIRIT OF SPACE EXPLORATION WILL NEVER DIE
The most ambitious mission profile ever: quickly landing people on the irradiated moons of Europa, timing it just right to avoid entering Jupiter's inner radiation belt, and escaping just in time to rendezvous with the habitat in orbit.
Farewell Terminal Velocity! These have been very good years watching the series, thank you TD for bring all of this to us! And you cannot leave without the Trappist mission LOL, I'll be waiting:)
With the use of 50 nuclear engines throughout the mission we were able to safely avoid the Io radiation belt! 😁 Jokes aside, amazing series, pure insanity that you actually managed to pull it all off with how clunky ksp is. The inner moon landers designs were so goofy, but hey if it works - it works. It also makes me kinda sad seeing just what it would ACTUALLY take to do the missions in real life, even as an approximation. Hopefully we figure out fusion.
something worth maybe a continued series: a look back at the jovian system bases, eventually colonies, and even cities towards the end (using kerbal konstructs, and mods that add lights to the night side of more planets and moons) we could explore the complex shipping of resources between the jovian moons and back to earth
Please make the mission is Kerbal-1 is solar probe orbit Around the sun but Moon flyby due to gravity assist So the final is heat shield deployed and solar panel is retracted while near sun! The rocket is Jool II/Jool 2!
OK. No micro-chip processor tech in late 1960’s. In 1969 Apollo 11 LEM couldn’t maintain its data link with the Earth-bound orbital mechanics/landing computer and the LEM would have crashed w/o Armstrong taking manual control and dead-reckoning the LEM’s landing. So all of your landers are manually controlled by a single pilot due to the latency of a data link between Earth and Jupiter ?
@@TDChannelKSP I bet this is from the teased "bonus segment", as you very briefly had a shot showing "what if the timeline didn't end here" at the end.
it might be the trappist mission, but its highly unlikely that it only contains 2 ships... maybe its some jupiter colonization stuff which will be the launching point for the trappist mission? perhaps there will be a wormhole in the jovian system which the colonists can investigate to avoid having to actually cross the interstellar expanse (given the lore of precursor aliens, they probably left it there) that would be minus cool factor though
Everybody gangsta till the Americans and soviets team up to land on the moons of Jupiter with a crew before they get to the earth moon in our timeline 😭
Your videos are so great, I'm wondering what is your modlist? I wanna know specifically the procedural part mods you use to create these crafts! And what is this robotic mod I saw in your apollo infinite video? Hopefully you can let us know.
Thanks! The vast majority of the mods I use can be found inside the rp-1 express install: github.com/KSP-RO/RP-1/wiki/Installation Specifically though... Procedural parts come from - Procedural parts (heh) for most general assemblies, hollow parts, avionics, etc - ROTanks for the fancier textured / modeled ones, like the R7 shaped in Dione X / Seayuz. - B9 Procedural wings for flat surfaces & actual wings Robotic parts used in Apollo Infinity come from the Infernal Robotics mod Hope that helps answer things!
Hmm... - I start with the goal and work backwards. The first thing I started working on was the Io lander, as the mission needs to be structured around it (delta-v requirements, habitation, trajectory to avoid the inner belt) and tested that thoroughly until I had the full ship going. - Due to the long timespan of planning for this mission, I kept notes on flight tests on what went wrong / needed improvement and made the changes after. The general cycle for each vehicle looks something like this: 1. Build prototype with the general staging / delta-v / requirements in mind, test fly it. Note anomalies, margins required, etc 2. Refine into full vehicle, work on aesthetics, finalize general design. Test again. 3. Split the vehicle into parts, load it onto the launch vehicles, test. 4. Build the vehicle in career, launch and begin filming. General planning order was: - Io lander/racer - Habitat - USS Sawyer (originally, Calcutta wasn't planned. There would be no permanent habitat. This changed after I decided to go for a 1969 landing, which necessitated a cheaper, faster vehicle to reach Jupiter as a one-way trip). - USS Calcutta - USS Kronos - Finally, the extra "what if" that's teased at the end...
In my headcanon, FedUp express is the primary sponsor (and thus gets the flag), while Ker-ball helped organize it & co-sponsor like the others on the ship (amaron, terminal velocity, pentaborane industries, etc)
@@TDChannelKSP That's absolutely insane, I just figured you were cheating in money to build these amazing craft (no shame if that had been the case). I only played a little before updating to P&LC, I really don't recall the game being very generous with funds.

ok there's no way that Callisto landing date was a coincidence, right?
Why do you think they surveyed for potential landing sites for a few weeks.
It's really cool that you kept going long after the original goal of landing on the moon as fast as possible. And what a crazy time we've had
I missed the premier, but the video was definitely worth it! BRAVO TD!!!! :DDD

what parallax conifg are you using?
None - just what's included within RSS itself (so 1.0 features like tesselation on some planets/moons, but no big rocks with physical collision)
