I always thought Treasure Planet was one of Disney’s underrated gems, and “I’m Still Here” is one of my favorite Disney songs.
It's such a shame that it bombed so hard. I know that nostalgia plays a big part in my love for the movie, but I also just think it's genuinely good

@@JohnDoe-bo5yk There we’re several reasons. One being the fact that it was a hybrid between Animation Cells and CG. The technology was outdated compared to the newer and more eye catching animated graphics that other movies at the time we’re using.
Treasure Planet and Atlantis are both severely underrated and some of my favorite movies.

While the original fit that moment in the movie. This one actually fits the entire aesthetic of that world. I mean I can literally see this song being played at the old Benbow Inn while Sarah Hawkins rushes by serving guests, while sailors rest their weary bones...it a beautiful image this cover song painted

I heard rumours that Treasure Planet was planned with sequel and series in mind. A version of the song like this one used in the finale would've been brilliant in wrapping up Jim's character!

one of the greatest animated movies ever that has ever been made that just doesn't get the love it deserves. 20 something years later and "im still here" takes me right back to that day, this song has been on reply ever since, growing up the lyrics go straight through to the soul , and always brings the emotions.

Redwall was amazing, definitely one of my favourite animated shows.

When my wife and I were dating we watched this movie a few times and it this sort of became our song as a product of that. I absolutely cannot wait to show her this rendition of it, she's going to absolutely love it.
Colm, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for this cover. I have been very ill for the last 8 months, with one complication after another slowly eating away at my will to keep going, to keep fighting.
But through all of it, nearly losing my life more than a few times, multiple surgeries and procedures, losing and slowly regaining control of my legs, losing nearly half of my body weight, I was surrounded by a group of the most amazing friends and family a man could ask for, along with my wonderful wife, who sacrificed so much to be with me in the hospital, nearly every day. They never gave up, and never let me give up.
I am happy to say that I am finally on the road to recovery, and even though that road is very long and difficult, I think you can understand me when I sing along with this song, practically yelling out the words "I'm still here!" with all my breath.

@nawedahmed8168 tbf, back when Treasure Planet was made (2002), Disney had a better track record w/ sequels and were more tasteful w/ "milking" franchises, so a Treasure Planet sequel mightve been good if there was a way they believed they could think to continue the story.
thing is, Treasure Planet is loosely based off of Treasure Island, which did not get a sequel (well, by the same author, theres been plenty of sequels made by others over the years, but i dont include those because theyre just sequels ppl decided to make in the same universe to continue where the classic left off without input from the og author as far as i'm aware), so why would Treasure Planet get a sequel? supposedly there was a sequel in the form of a game, but the validity of the canon is still debated. i think it WAS made by Disney, but it's just the game never caught on and, those who have played it, didnt like the story and debate whether it is/should be canon because it kinda contradicts the movie
I'm still here is a sentiment that's gotten me through a lot, mental health issues, financial issues, abusive relationships, basic training - through all of that and every other difficulty life has given me I can say that I'm still here, and it is that sentiment that gives me the resolve to keep going

Treasure Planet is my comfort movie as a dude. It feels like a genuine movie for a boy and less coming of age and more growing up, and finding their place in the world.

Treasure Planet was one of my favorite movies growing up that seems to be one most forget about. This cover brings such a bright tone to it. Man Irish folk is just one of those genres that makes you feel at home and hopeful every time.
Colm, what I love about your version here, is that it actually feels more natural. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the original rock n' roll vibe, but most people who do covers try too hard to hit those highs "I want a moment to be real" I'm still here," and such, but for yours, it just felt right being a little more controlled until the end. Bravo, my good sir, continue doing what you love.

I have the "On My Way" Disney Sing-A-Long Songs DVD and I used to watch it all the time when I was little (but never really sang along to the songs), mostly because I wanted to watch the scene and listen to the song "I'm Still Here" cause I liked it so much. "Treasure Planet" is also one of my favorite underrated Disney movies

One of the most uplifting song since my childhood
This cover came out at a very difficult point in my life, and has consistently been a song I've come back to as an affirmation and helped me deal with a lot of personal struggles. Just want to put it out there, that it's resonated strongly and made a difference in accepting myself for who I am.

Given treasure planet basically just being spelljammer, I could totally see myself playing this in a tavern in a space port. Like in the official stuff have a minstrel troupe in large Luigi's bar on the rock of brahl are performing this before the party sets off into wildspace
I’m planning on running a campaign with some friends soon, I’ve been thinking of using Colms music as background tavern music, possibly even foreshadowing the next adventure

This is a song that I've connected to deeply ever since I first heard it. Moreso since growing and discovering a lot more about myself.
But listening to your cover is the first time I've almost been brought to tears. Something about Irish folk and Irish rock really impacts me differently, and when you reached the second verse I was already getting a little bit shakey.

One of the relics of my childhood was the PS1 Treasure Planet tie-in game. While I was too young to succeed at beating the game, I would still fire it up just to play the music video for this song hidden in the special features. Replayed over and over I did. It seems fitting, seeing as the story is a juxtaposition of futuristic sci-fi story with classical pirate tale, for it to be covered in Irish folk style (seeing as most sea shanties were folky). I'd argue that the original song should have been done this way from the start.
I also love how with each repetition of "I'm still here" at the end of each chorus the featured harmony is rising, giving the final repetition the emotional gravitas it deserves. True craftsmanship. Love your stuff.
