David Bigham Thanks. sorry I don’t know how to do that. Also, the template would not work for all situations. For example you can map each pad/sound or each group. David Bigham if they don’t play from logic then it’s still not set up right. You need to have midi playing from Logic and no patterns on in Logic. Good luck!
@ukviking or anyone else, anyone know why when I follow these directions step by step, my sounds from maschine, when played in logic, are of a different pitch/tone? Generally only does this on sounds I’m using a multitude of notes, ie; guitar or piano and I drag them w the piano roll.
Awesome video! It is one of the only well explained tutorials for this product! One question, would you be able to make a preset template within Maschine with several groups (or tracks) or within logic to bypass all these steps every time you can't to make a project? or does the group have to have an already set instrument(s) to be able to be opened in logic's Maschine plugin? In other words, can you make a Maschine plugin instance that has several blank tracks? Thank you for the knowledge!!
Great Video and great explanation... exactly what I was looking for. Is it possible to separate the various components of the drum kit to separate tracks? I like to have kick, snare, toms, hh, and cymbals on separate tracks. Kind of new to the Maschine universe.
Double check all the midi in and outs- follow the vid and it should be fine. Make sure both midi in and midi out on the sounds are correct, else it will only play the selected one.
Hey dude that’s a new way of doing it and very helpful, but I hate the daw machine provides and simply want to use the mashing to play and record directly Into Logic. Just like a keyboard right, taking advantage of the ease of a desktop small unit. I have only been able to make this work but when I do it disables the ability to browse in machines, use chords, or arp, and so on. Basically making the machine crap. I’ve not found a single video where anyone person can make machine record live into logic by playing the pads. I don’t understand why pro logic picks up the signal, can be routed clearly yet when you record nothing. Now when I’ve got my keyboard connected, s88 this also shows connection with machine, and when I hit a pad in machine the keyboard will light up but again I can’t play a note to record from machine despite choosing machine as the input however if I hit the keyboard it records that same midi note which also flashed up on machine. Is so backwards incompatible and native say you can play simply by doing this and that, but this and that renders the machine when in midi mode as f.j useless. Have you worked out a way to make this happen, I am starting to hate my machine and the software daw is CRAP..... I’m abo it to swap it out for a mpc live instead.
With all due respect the Maschine isn't a generic controller for other DAWs. Sure, it has a "mode" which mades it into a colourful bunch of pads and assignable knobs. I understand that you're frustrated but perhaps you had false expectations. I would hold onto your Maschine until the next update comes out. They are having MAJOR upgrade to the DAW part in Maschine.
I was toying with buying maschine ... I already have logic .. now thinking I should just settle for the Mikro since it seems I will be spending most of my time on the Mac
Thanks for the clear vid. If you have already arranged in maschine, would this be the best practice in your opinion? or is bouncing it in audio better? Also, my problem is always having well over 16 tracks. So a combo of both, I assume I will have to do? Previously i've bounced the audio & I found it sounds flat/grey - I tried bouncing dry (without maschine fx) & with, & had similar results. Any ideas on what i've done wrong? Lots of questions, apols. Any feedback would be welcomed. Cheers Nick!
Hi Andrew It's a really interesting question. I made this video originally because at the time I was still more into Logic and found Maschine to be somewhat limited. However, I have now learned Maschine better and I am finding myself composing in the Maschine. The only reason I would go to Logic now is to record audio or live tracks. If you asked me now what I would do, I would actually just have Maschine as a plugin and only route the audio to Logic tracks, and not the Midi. So that levels can be adjusted and additional EQ / Mastering and compression. But because I would have done most of the DAW style work in Maschine song view, I would use the Maschine effects. So, in regards to over 16 tracks, yes this is an issue and I don't know the answer without thinking about this more. Perhaps you can have multiple maschine instances and map another 16 audio channels? You can find me on Fiverr.com I give video tuition on Maschine under the user name ukviking Good luck!
Hi there love the video, I was wondering If i could get some advice off you bin using machine for a year now properly still need more to learn but my main goal is to make songs. in your opinion do you think I should stay and learn more on machine or try and learn Logic Pro x
Why do all that when you can just skip to the part where you drag the sounds to Logic? I do it this way and get the same result. Or am I missing something here?
My tutorial is based on having midi data and seperate audio tracks. You're describing dragging the other icon which bounces the audio only. That's not the same. Some prefer it but then it's not editable as midi data.
@@UKViking I'm not talking about the waveform icon. I'm talking about dragging the MIDI info using the MIDI icon to the timeline of LPX. It appears as editable MIDI in their own tracks.
Matthew Morgan if it works for you please keep doing it. But unless you route the audio to separate logic channels then you wouldn’t be able to mix the elements using Logics mixer, nor would you be able to apply different effects to different channels in logic. Regarding. Midi, you have to set it like I showed otherwise Maschine will play the same midi for all groups or sounds. If you only have one midi track it’s fine but with multi track it’s not
Daniel Mccarragher yes , you must use only track one in logic and you assign a set number of parameters through to Maschine parameters. I don’t have the ability to explain it but search on TH-cam, in fact Native Instruments themselves made a video on how to do it I think
No problem. What I mean is you assign say up to 16 or more automation channels to whatever you like in Maschine and then in Logic you put all the Automation on, say, midi channel 1. They have a system for it
Thanks man but i would rather save a template in Logic with all the settings, so I dont have to set up from scratch for every new project.. Is that possible? What can I do when I need more Groups than these 8 ?
Kenan Ögün in the video I explain you can have up to 16 audios into logic, they can be groups or sounds. I’ll check out whether a template is possible. In any case, it’s sometimes easier just to use the same plugin straight in logic and drag the midi in. Because all the Native Instruments plug-ins can be used in any DAW. Only the sampler is worth patching through
Honestly this work flow makes me regret buying a Maschine, love the sounds & the hardware, but the un-functionality on the plug in working with daw's is so bad
Hey Christopher, thanks for your comment. I think it is a dissapointment if you expected it to be a DAW. But the Maschine is good for ideas / pad / finger drumming, fast ideas, quick sampling etc. It's also good for live performance. I'm looking forward to Maschine 3.0 software as there are rumours (and apparantly there was a demo) that it will be more DAW like. I personally can't get my head around the Song mode in Maschine. I cannot think in the logical way of Scenes and Patterns in order- I need a timeline. But anyway- try to enjoy your Maschine. It does allow you to be creative without using a computer screen all the time. Has its plus points!
I’m happy to reply to reply to mail - the easiest is to message me on Fiverr and I’ll message back. I’m happy to reply for free to small questions www.fiverr.com/s2/32e8f36672
I don't disagree- but if you learn Maschine properly you can try to use it as a DAW by itself. With all the new updates you can record one off tracks finally. It can be quite creative.

Good plan. Maschine demands your attention.
Hi Andrew
It's a really interesting question.
You can find me on Fiverr.com I give video tuition on Maschine under the user name ukviking
Good luck!
Hi there love the video, I was wondering If i could get some advice off you bin using machine for a year now properly still need more to learn but my main goal is to make songs. in your opinion do you think I should stay and learn more on machine or try and learn Logic Pro x
Learn Logic it has great features
Why do all that when you can just skip to the part where you drag the sounds to Logic? I do it this way and get the same result. Or am I missing something here?
My tutorial is based on having midi data and seperate audio tracks. You're describing dragging the other icon which bounces the audio only. That's not the same. Some prefer it but then it's not editable as midi data.
@@UKViking I'm not talking about the waveform icon. I'm talking about dragging the MIDI info using the MIDI icon to the timeline of LPX. It appears as editable MIDI in their own tracks.
Matthew Morgan yes you’re right it will, but the midi won’t be routed and nor will the audio
@@UKViking What does that mean, exactly? Should that prevent me from doing something in LPX, because I haven't had any issues to speak of yet?
Matthew Morgan if it works for you please keep doing it. But unless you route the audio to separate logic channels then you wouldn’t be able to mix the elements using Logics mixer, nor would you be able to apply different effects to different channels in logic. Regarding. Midi, you have to set it like I showed otherwise Maschine will play the same midi for all groups or sounds. If you only have one midi track it’s fine but with multi track it’s not
Hey there, thanks for the video. Do you know if you are able to edit the automation of parameters inside of Maschine from Logic?
Daniel Mccarragher yes , you must use only track one in logic and you assign a set number of parameters through to Maschine parameters. I don’t have the ability to explain it but search on TH-cam, in fact Native Instruments themselves made a video on how to do it I think
@@UKViking Thank you very much :-)
No problem. What I mean is you assign say up to 16 or more automation channels to whatever you like in Maschine and then in Logic you put all the Automation on, say, midi channel 1. They have a system for it
Fl studio version ???
Thanks man but i would rather save a template in Logic with all the settings, so I dont have to set up from scratch for every new project.. Is that possible?
What can I do when I need more Groups than these 8 ?
Kenan Ögün in the video I explain you can have up to 16 audios into logic, they can be groups or sounds. I’ll check out whether a template is possible. In any case, it’s sometimes easier just to use the same plugin straight in logic and drag the midi in. Because all the Native Instruments plug-ins can be used in any DAW. Only the sampler is worth patching through

Thanks! Helped
Although you re right - a lot of steps that hopefully one does get used to.
Glad you benefited!
Thanks most helpful
You're welcome!
Nothing coming from maschine only my 88 key controler..not useful....i need each track tracked out......not groups
Hey Nick, any chance I could give you a quick email? Appreciate it!
I’m happy to reply to reply to mail - the easiest is to message me on Fiverr and I’ll message back. I’m happy to reply for free to small questions www.fiverr.com/s2/32e8f36672
This workflow is painfully slow, and it is the reason why I sold my Maschine hardware.
I don't disagree- but if you learn Maschine properly you can try to use it as a DAW by itself. With all the new updates you can record one off tracks finally. It can be quite creative.
You spent almost 30 minutes just routing a simple five group beat. And the drums aren't separated. This is a ridiculous work flow.
Thanks for your feedback. The workflow is bad and that's why I don't bother any more. I just use Maschine on its own. Blame Native Instruments not me!
