Great insight - especially the multi-output mapping. But this in mainly using the Mikro and Machine 2 plugin to create a beat, then drag the output into Logic. Why no just use Logic DMD to start with? If it’s the Maschine samples your after, you can just drag them from their NI Content source into Drum Machine Designer. I’m struggling to see the value you get out of the Mikro. Seems any pad controller would be cheaper, easy and maybe better - like the Launchpad X or even the Akai MPD218 ($50 used).

Downloaded the template. I think I did everything the same as you. However the machine playing the sounds at the same time as logic. I can’t seem to switch off the maschine sounds :(
Very cool video! Do you think if I only plan to use this as a controller sounds / plugins in Logic that I could buy one of the used Maschine controllers I see on ebay that don't have the software license? The only thing I'd want to do is remap the notes on the pads, and maybe use the transport controls. Would I need the NI software for that? THanks!
Great question! In most cases, I recommend that people buy gear used because that's a great way to save money, and most of the time, the gear will still function as needed. You also have the option to purchase the Maschine software directly off of Native Instruments' website. If you only want to use the Maschine hardware as a midi controller, then definitely get it used. If you want to use the software or use it as a plugin like I did in this video, calculate how much it would cost to buy them separately. If you're buying an older controller, you should still be able to save some money.
@@LMarquee thanks for your fast answer Bro and thanks also for the template I'm going to try it and make it today and I'll let you know if I have more doubts , keep on going you make great and very understandable videos 💪🏻👍🏻✌🏻
My input and output is my audio interface which is the Universal Audio Apollo Twin. For you, it will be probably be your audio interface or your built-in speakers.
Hey! I really appreciate you. I keep getting stuck when I click and drag the midi info to the Inst 1 track, it doesn't split up onto separate tracks like yours.
Hey Mike! Are you dragging the midi from a single track in keyboard mode or are you dragging them from all of the tracks at the same time? 1st, you need to make sure that you created all 16 tracks for all of the 16 pads. Then, in the section of Maschine where you can see the entire pattern from all 16 tracks, that's where you need to drag out the midi data.
This is the first video like this that has explained this setup easily. One problem on my end: Logic doesn't recognize my Plus as a controller. I've watched lots of videos, played with the Controller Editor, but I still can't get it to work. Any advice, links, vids you have on this would be appreciated.
Awesome video!! super easy to follow. Is there a way to record directly into logic using this template or do always have to create the pattern in the Maschine plugin and drag to logic? Lastly, I noticed that when I load a full kit in the template I have to route the sounds to the individual tracks again. Is there a way to keep my routing preferences on a kit or will I have to load a sound one at a time? Thanks
Great question! The way that I personally do it is I always have my drums routed the same way that I did in this video and if I chop up a sample in a separate group, I just bounce the chopped up sample as an audio file. If you want to have a separate group for samples routed similarly to how I route my drums, you'll have to open a separate instance of Maschine.
Hey L. Marquee does this apply to studio drummer ? I’m trying to use studio drummer any drum in Kontakt but I only get one pad working. Do you have any video explaining this ? Thank you!
Great question, Ben! There's actually a completely different process for routing Studio Drummer in Logic. I currently don't have a video on how to do so, but I can make one in the future!
L. Marquee good day...... Please I've been having issues with connecting alesis sample pad pro to my logic pro x. I want to be able to assign the each pad for a different sound please what do i do? I need help to select drum for each surfaces i.e pad one = kick, pad two = tom 1 and so on
Hey Okenwa. I've actually never used an Alesis Sample Pad, so I don't know how to connect it to Logic Pro. If you can't find any helpful resources on TH-cam, I recommend reaching out to their customer service team to see if they can help you out. Sorry I couldn't give you a direct answer!
all cool to a degree....but trying to lay an overdub after the original track i'd recorded in maschine mk3 and using maschine plug in ...i kept getting the original tracks recording back into the new pattern....what's your take on that?
Good question! To prevent the MIDI from Logic recording into the Maschine plugin, mute the MIDI data in Logic before and during the part that you record. Another solution if you're just adding a single instrument is to put your Maschine controller in MIDI mode, select the correct track in Logic, and record it that way.
One more question Bro as you can export the sound like kick or hihat on each individual channel on logic is also possible to import loops already make it also from maschine or is just for a specific sounds? I dunno if I make my point clear? Thanks in advance mate💪🏻🤘🏻✌🏻
@@LMarquee súper Bro thank you for your help and time to answer me so soon , I give you my like and subscribe, thanks a lot and good vibes 4-U ✌🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻✌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great question, Storey! If you made everything in the standalone Maschine software and wanted to mix it in Logic, you'd have to export the trackouts and import them into Logic. A lot of people like that workflow, but I personally don't because I prefer producing/recording, mixing, and mastering all within one project file. While using this template, you can make a beat entirely in the plugin version of Maschine, and then you can export the tracks directly into Logic as well. I personally use Maschine for my drum patterns and chopping up samples, and I use Logic for my melodic instruments. Let me know if that answered your question!
@LMarquee I know I am really late to this comment section but I've been using your template without fail for awhile. All of a sudden, when I add the second pattern so the maschine doesn't trigger, I get no sound at all in Logic. The tracks drag over fine but will only play when the pattern I created them on is highlighted. I'm sure I've done something weird but I can't figure it out.
Great question! Logic only allows you to route a single instance of Maschine to 16 pads. If you need to use an additional group, I recommend either bouncing it out as audio or opening up another instance of Maschine.
Hey L, great tutorial. Quick question, whenever I drag the files into Logic, it immediately bypasses the tracks I've created and assigns them to tracks with instruments on them. So my drum pattern plays on tracks with Steinway Piano and Epic Cloud and a bunch of other stuff I didn't assign. Do you know about this? Thanks alot and keep up the great work!
Hey I really found your video useful as well as the template link, I have a question though, are we able to use different scenes and it still plays all t instruments in the first or second scene after you transfers it into logic? Hit me back and let me know what’s the best way to use multiple scenes with the setup you made in the template. Thanks brother. Definitely liking and subscribing
Hey! First of all, thank you for watching, subscribing, and downloading the template. The way that I personally use this is if I have an A section and a B section, for example, I'll create 2 different patterns and bounce out the MIDI data from them both if I'm just using a single group. After I bounce all of the patterns that I want to use, I'll then make sure Maschine is in a blank pattern and continue arranging the beat in Logic.
yo, thanks so much for this, super helpful and everything worked great... EXCEPT, when i drag the midi from the maschine plugin into logic, it first asks if i want to import the tempo, and then it adds a bunch of random instruments. if i drag the midi tracks up to where they should be, it's fine, but not sure why it adds all that extra stuff. any tips?
Great question! I believe I turned off the pop-up that asks if I want to import the tempo. I don't recall off the top of my head how I did, but I think you can do it in that pop-up box. When you drag the MIDI, make sure you drag it to the top track that the Maschine plugin is actually loaded on. If you drag it to any of the other tracks, Logic will create the additional tracks. Let me know if I can help you with anything else!
@@LMarquee thanks! i actually just figured it out - i had only created new tracks for the ones i was using in this test pattern, so it automatically creates new instruments for all the unused tracks UNLESS you create aux channels for all 16, and then make new tracks for all 16 as well. i just tried highlighting the specific tracks in maschine, muting the unused tracks THEN dragging and dropping into logic, but no dice - you gotta have tracks for all 16 Maschine outputs. not sure if it's maybe because each pad is routed out, but i dunno if that would make a difference in terms of creating whole new instrument tracks for the unused pads/midi data. in any case, it doesn't ask to import tempo either when you add all 16 aux channels/new tracks. it also might be worth mentioning that you can save the routing template in maschine, but when you open up other projects or groups, it'll go back to whatever routing setting they had when they were last saved. to avoid this just save the group you wanna load, and then click whether you want to load its routing and/or pattern on the bottom of the navigation panel. super helpful! unless everyone already knew that and i'm just an idiot. thanks again!

Cheers this was very helpful 😃 just got my mikro mk3 nice bit of kit
Nice! I haven't tried the mikro out, but I have considered getting it before.
Love this video bro. Incredibly useful. Thank you

Question what is the LOGIC key command that you used to mute certain bars without cutting or deleting the midi info (it just became grayed out )?????
Control M.
Best tutorial video ever
Thank you Dorian! Let me know if you have any questions about using the template!
Outstanding video!!! I was looking for a video on how to do this. Thanks for sharing!
No problem! This has been my workflow for years and it hasn't let me down yet!
Great Video, are you able to drag Splice sounds into Maschine and use it the same way?
Yup! You can drag them onto one of the Maschine pads and play/chop them however you want to.
Yo dope video and real helpful. I ran into a problem on my end tho. Im able to do the recording and pad hitting but for some reason, Im not getting any sound from logic or the maschine. Any tips on that?
This was a huge help man! Nailed it!
I try! Go create something great, ScrimWorks!

Does this work for the Maschine MK3 also? Or is just for the Maschine + ??? Thanks for your videos are very nice and good explained, congrats 🤘🏻✌🏻
This works with all of the Maschine controllers as long as you have the Maschine 2 software. I actually use the MK3. Thanks for watching!
@@LMarquee thanks for your fast answer Bro and thanks also for the template I'm going to try it and make it today and I'll let you know if I have more doubts , keep on going you make great and very understandable videos 💪🏻👍🏻✌🏻

Cool video! What was your audio settings? More specifically input/output?
My input and output is my audio interface which is the Universal Audio Apollo Twin. For you, it will be probably be your audio interface or your built-in speakers.
Hey! I really appreciate you. I keep getting stuck when I click and drag the midi info to the Inst 1 track, it doesn't split up onto separate tracks like yours.
Hey Mike! Are you dragging the midi from a single track in keyboard mode or are you dragging them from all of the tracks at the same time?
1st, you need to make sure that you created all 16 tracks for all of the 16 pads. Then, in the section of Maschine where you can see the entire pattern from all 16 tracks, that's where you need to drag out the midi data.
can you show us how to do this in luna
I haven't tried this in Luna, but if I figure it out, I'll make a video on it!
This is gold dust, excellent video
I'm glad this helped you out!

Thanks
Thanks, Kevin! After you load your samples onto the Maschine pads, put your controller in midi mode, and you can record the midi directly into Logic.
Can we connect two different groups into logic like one drums and one for sample chopping ?
@@LMarquee oh Yes please ! I eagerly wait for that ! I wanna be able to use my drum si I can make music
Thank you !!
Bruh.. You literally just saved my life LOL
I do what I do!
Thanks! This is the closest I’ve got to making it work, but when I move to the empty pattern the sound disappears! Any idea what is causing this?
Did you export the MIDI data and drag it into Logic before you made the empty pattern?
@@LMarquee I think I did, I’ll try it the other way around?
That was extremely helpful man thank you so much!!!!!!!
Glad I could share some helpful knowledge your way! Go make something great!
Sorry I couldn't give you a direct answer!
thank you thank THANKYOU!! this helped so much

all cool to a degree....but trying to lay an overdub after the original track i'd recorded in maschine mk3 and using maschine plug in ...i kept getting the original tracks recording back into the new pattern....what's your take on that?
Good question! To prevent the MIDI from Logic recording into the Maschine plugin, mute the MIDI data in Logic before and during the part that you record. Another solution if you're just adding a single instrument is to put your Maschine controller in MIDI mode, select the correct track in Logic, and record it that way.
One more question Bro as you can export the sound like kick or hihat on each individual channel on logic is also possible to import loops already make it also from maschine or is just for a specific sounds? I dunno if I make my point clear? Thanks in advance mate💪🏻🤘🏻✌🏻
You can do the same with loops inside of Maschine. You can export them the same as the drums as either midi data or WAV files.

This was incredibly helpful, thank you so much!
I got'chu! Have fun with the template!
if you were to just create everything I mashcine then just did the export would it not create the tracks and mixer channels for you?
Great question, Storey! If you made everything in the standalone Maschine software and wanted to mix it in Logic, you'd have to export the trackouts and import them into Logic. A lot of people like that workflow, but I personally don't because I prefer producing/recording, mixing, and mastering all within one project file.
While using this template, you can make a beat entirely in the plugin version of Maschine, and then you can export the tracks directly into Logic as well. I personally use Maschine for my drum patterns and chopping up samples, and I use Logic for my melodic instruments.
Let me know if that answered your question!
I’m unable to make each sound the host to its corresponding pad, any thoughts?
Is there a way to record directly machine midi directly into logic pro?
@LMarquee I know I am really late to this comment section but I've been using your template without fail for awhile. All of a sudden, when I add the second pattern so the maschine doesn't trigger, I get no sound at all in Logic. The tracks drag over fine but will only play when the pattern I created them on is highlighted. I'm sure I've done something weird but I can't figure it out.
Would I need to reroute the pads if I want to create a new group of samples (group B)
Great question! Logic only allows you to route a single instance of Maschine to 16 pads. If you need to use an additional group, I recommend either bouncing it out as audio or opening up another instance of Maschine.
Thanks for the video, it really helped me!!
Reactions like this is why I make these types of videos!
You ever resolve this?
Hey I really found your video useful as well as the template link, I have a question though, are we able to use different scenes and it still plays all t instruments in the first or second scene after you transfers it into logic? Hit me back and let me know what’s the best way to use multiple scenes with the setup you made in the template. Thanks brother. Definitely liking and subscribing
Hey! First of all, thank you for watching, subscribing, and downloading the template. The way that I personally use this is if I have an A section and a B section, for example, I'll create 2 different patterns and bounce out the MIDI data from them both if I'm just using a single group. After I bounce all of the patterns that I want to use, I'll then make sure Maschine is in a blank pattern and continue arranging the beat in Logic.
when I scroll down to the Au Instruments it doesn't show native instruments
yo, thanks so much for this, super helpful and everything worked great...
@@sj8405 how did you make the 16th aux track? it only lets me add tracks until the 15th aux
@@lukenevills4969 p sure the main channel is #1, and the fifteenth one is #16, if that makes sense. there are 16 tracks total, right?
do you know how to convert midi over to logic from group mode instead of scene mode
