Doug is obsessed with features, drives the car for 10 minutes and call it a day. Still one of the best channel to know detailed information about quirks and features of a car. TheTopher seems more authentic and gives us neutral opinions.

lol Doug love quirks and features and this car is the opposite of quirky. It’s a refined, reasonable no non-sense sedan that is supremely fun to drive.. I go to doug to see weird stuff about weird cars and I go to Topher & Savage Geese when I want to hear what the driving experience is like.

Yeah! That’s exactly what I wanted to know. Love your reviews. I had a 2015 Civic SI that I loved until a pickup truck ramed into it while I was waiting at a red light three months ago, sending the car to the junk yard and my mom and me to the hospital... Now shopping for a brand new car and I find myself torn between the Civic SI and Mazda 3.
UPDATE I would have chosen the SI but I would have had to wait a few months an order without trying it first so instead I bought a used Acura ILX, made a good deal and that will have to do for now. Not as enjoyable as a manual but I least I get the same engine I had before. Naturally aspirated V-Techs are getting rare theses days lol

Damn, son. As a daily driver of an '01 Integra GS-R Sedan for 18 years, this new SI speaks to me. A '20 STI may have replaced the Integra for winter commuting and client site visits, yet the love of those Honda revs never leaves the soul. I am really impressed with how Honda has integrated modern tech in with the UX and the safety suite without killing usability and safety. And that fuel economy is sick!
Spot-on regarding the new VW UX. I can't imagine living with that poor usability and VW should be ashamed to have that out on the market.

    • @YasumotoUS
      @YasumotoUS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Addenda: @TheTopher, you nailed it with manual shift cars being more rewarding and engaging to drive -- especially the Si. I have thought about this topic for a long time, while driving the Integra and the STI, and I have found that MT vehicles help a driver focus on the task at hand, minimizing the distractions that can be more readily accessed with a CVT or Auto transmission equipped ride.

800 miles on my 2022 Civic SI. Would highly recommend the HPD package as it makes the car look far better than stock.
Overall I love my SI. I will just shortly go over my 2 annoyances with the car. If other 22 civic si owners see this, please comment with your perspectives please.
    1. There is input lag in Apple Car Play. I have only ever had it once run smooth when changing a song. Otherwise it is a 1 to 2 second delay between input and song change. Absolutely not a deal breaker, feel like it just need a software update on Hondas end, App always up to date.
    2. The rear view camera in daytime is “ok” but absolutely atrocious at night in dark places. Very grainy, pixelated, terrible picture quality. Also noticed that when it rains, rain drops tend to stick to the camera lens on the trunk, which makes using back up camera near impossible on rainy days.
I love my SI. These are my 2 biggest vehicle annoyances. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
$33,500 out the door with HPD package installed. If you are a patient buyer, and can look out of state, you can find a good deal with little to no mark up. Patience is a virtue for a reason lol.

I absolutely love this car. I bought mine at MSRP from Hare Honda in Avon, IN after the dealers here in Illinois were trying to charge 8,000+ in markup.
This is the most fun i've had in a Civic SI since the 8th gen and I've had them all aside from the 7th. There's something about it that's satisfying and fun to drive. It has an "It" factor that my 10th gen, and my MK7.5 GTI just didn't have.

Hey - I just got an SI 3 weeks ago, and really enjoy your videos and the driving tips for manual shifting. I 'specially liked your comment about the satisfaction it brings as you develop driving patterns for the new car. I learned to drive on a manual 3-speed '64 Mustang, and have driven manuals ever since. This SI is really fantastic, though I'm still adapting to it.
One comment you made in the video really intrigued me. You say that over time that the Civic learns and adapts to your driving patterns. If that's really so (and there's some kind of computer-based learning built into the SI), I'd say that's an amazing development.

I have measured this with the dB Meter app. That is a huge amount given decibels exist on a log scale. I have also test driven the 2022 BRZ with the PS4 tyres and although I wasn't able to take it on the highway for the test drive it was a very noisy experience and it seems at least as loud as the previous model. My note to Honda:
My first car was a 1994 Honda Accord DX, which my late Father purchased for me as a rising junior in high school back in 2000. With it, I fell in love with driving.
Twenty-three years later, my plan was to purchase either a Honda Civic Si or R, which would have been my first Honda automobile since my Accord.
Much to my dismay, I've not been able to locate a dealer in my state interested in selling either vehicle at MSRP. Instead, it seems the Si has a $5000 markup while the R has a $10,000 markup.
Undoubtedly, folks will pay...but at what cost?
Such a transactional approach to selling cars, in my opinion, loses more than it gains.
I'm almost 40 years old and plan to purchase several additional cars in my lifetime.
As of today, none of those cars will be manufactured by Honda.
It's a shame; my plans to autocross, track, road trip, daily, and just plain enjoy a brilliant machine have been thwarted by the shortsightedness of money-blinded dealers.
It's easy to blame the supply chain, blame inventory, blame others for paying such outreach premiums on supposedly-attainable performance vehicles.
Honda, I wish you would do more; enthusiasts will not disappear with the sunset of the internal combustion engine.
As I take my business elsewhere, good luck.

Obviously the Elantra N appeals to a slightly wider variety of consumer, being more track focused than the Si, but as someone who is looking for a fun to drive FWD car and likes the more premium feature set that both of these offer, which would you recommend going with?
