    Love the content! 55 year old that got back into BMX earlier this year. Mostly just enjoying wheelies and cruising.

    grabbed this exact Monza 24 after years of searching ebay for an affordable replacement for my childhood 83 mongoose expert that was stolen. Found it better to go new than vintage if i want to actually ride. Getting back into riding after many years and it feels good. Thanks for the video!

      Yeah I totally feel you I'm getting back on a bike, I've had a few mountain bikes and really didn't like them, so I found this Monza and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it I'm getting the all gold with the Black Mags going to be here just a little after my birthday in March 2025

    Just ordered the Monza 24, very excited. Reminds me of my old Dyno Air. Thank you for the detailed video

    As a fellow BMX enthusiast (from the same era as you), I concur.
    Maybe the only point that may require further clarification is how much tension on the chain is appropriate. My understanding is that the chain should have a minimum of 1/2" of play both up and down (like yours seems to have). It should never be so tight as to have no play. Hope this makes sense. Your thoughts?

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for chiming in! Yes, that makes perfect sense. You're right, I probably should called that out in the video, but my understanding is also that about 1/2" of play is a good rule of thumb, and that it shouldn't be too tight (or obviously, too loose). 👍👊

    Nice to see you know the cresent wrenches trick too,i use that park tool for sidepull brakes to center them too,game changer. Back in the days i would mess up my finger doing that as a kid or early teen. Good video for the noobs to know 👍

      Thanks for the input. Yeah, this video is definitely geared more towards newbies. I’ve watched a ton of videos on bike maintenance the last couple of years and thought it might helpful to the new folks to try and boil a bunch of it down into one spot.

    Thanks for the great video! I definitely learned I need more tools to properly adjust my side pull brakes. Right now I'm conflicted on getting a laid back seat post. I'm on a straight 450mm for now.

      Thanks for watching. I like a laid back post for the looks, but I find a straight one to be totally fine fore riding, especially on a big bike with a long top tube.

    Question about your 26” GT light blue cruiser. Is that gyro a different size than a 20” one?

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Gyro I have is a mixture of parts to get the white and silver colors and reduce the amount of black. But it’ll work for any 1-1/8” threadless fork/stem. I did have to drill holes in the frame for the gyro tabs, but most modern bikes have them pre-drilled. I also have an Odyssey G3 gyro on my modern 20” S&M Dagger, which is basically the same as what I have on my 26” GT.

    What u think about 26" bmx

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really depends on what type of riding you do. If it’s mostly just casually cruising around the neighborhood, then 26” is my first choice. If I’m heading to the pump track and/or want something more lively/responsive I grab my 24”. And then… I’m starting to get into flatland freestyle, and in that case it’s a 20” without question.

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jonpg28 I have this seat opinion white on my 26” GT and in black on my 26” Hutch. For $30, it’s a great value and fairly comfortable. www.planetbmx.com/shop/gt-cruise-control-saddle-w/-rails-black-or-white.html
